Chapter Text
Enji woke up in pain, surprised, once his cognition returned, to be waking up at all. His eye seemed to be bandaged, he wasn’t sure how to take this, and his arm felt wrong, but he was alive and seemingly in one piece. He smelled the sweet, familiar scent of Hawks and groped about on his bed until his hand found the omega’s sleeping face. His chest bloomed with warmth. Hawks had stayed with him. Surely Toya had thrown a fit and Hawks had chosen him regardless. He stroked the pretty hero’s cheek, blinking at the harsh light of the hospital room. He’d lived, and Hawks and presumably the pup were fine.
Hawks hummed softly feeling a warm hand against his face before slowly opening his eyes and looking up at Endeavor. He gripped the older hero’s hand as he sat up and gave the man a relieved look. “You’re awake,” he said happily. “You really had everyone kind of a scare,” he told Endeavor amused. “Don’t worry about your eye, doctor said it’s fine, completely missed it. Your predicted to have a scar,” he explained as he rubbed the sleep from his face with his free hand. It looked like it was morning. He got some sleep at least but his back wasn’t too happy now..
Endeavor gave the hero’s palm a squeeze, not letting go. Hawks was such a faithful little mate. He’d made his choice clear, if not to himself yet than to him and Toya at least. Hawks was his, or he would be, soon. “And you? The pup?” he asked, voice scratchy and dry. He felt like shit. He couldn’t remember being this hurt before.
Hawks relaxed a little when his hand was squeezed, at least the flame hero still had some strength left inside of him. He smiled softly at the question, “Were both perfectly fine, just got a cut when that nomu shattered my goggles,” he explained, tapping his bandaged nose lightly. “I was just given some bed rest, which is fine, can’t do much til my wings grow back anyway,” he explained.
Enji laughed tiredly, relief rushing through him. Of course, the little hero-to-be had survived his first fight unharmed. The pup was going to be magnificent, better and stronger than anyone could dream. “Bed rest typically doesn’t involve throwing your back out,” he chided, eyeing the awkward positioning of Hawks’ body. “I’m glad you both pulled through. He’s a little fighter already,” he praised.
Hawks grinned slightly hearing the man’s laugh, it was good to see he was in high spirits at least…”Ah well. Back already was sore from the pup, nothing new,” he said amused as he watched the flame hero tiredly. “Plus I didn’t want to leave. The league isn’t happy. I’m afraid we’re top targets,” he explained. He had to stay and make sure nothing happened. Hawks snorted softly, “Sure give him all the credit,” he teased back softly as he rubbed his stomach. He hated and loved how noticeable it was becoming.
Enji sat up on his elbow, smiling at Hawks and the pup. Though it would have been easier if Hawks had been honest from the start, things were falling into place regardless. “The League has nothing on the top two heroes,” he boasted, watching Hawks pet his stomach. “Or their pup,” he added with a soft smile. “You’ll need to pick a name soon. He’s already won his first fight, and he still doesn’t know who he is. Which of the names do you like best, Hawks?” he asked, sounding almost gentle
Hawks watched Endeavor concerned as he sat up, he was worried he might hurt something. The blonde beamed slightly at the flame hero when he said the league had nothing on them. At least Endeavor was still treating him like a hero…it felt nice to be praised for his work. No one seemed to care how good he did yesterday, just that he was there and a risk. The winged hero looked down at his stomach slightly. “I don’t know…I guess Hiroto keeps coming to mind when I think about him.” He suggested. He liked the other name a lot but he liked Hiroto’s meaning a lot and maybe naming the pup after Dabi wasn’t a great way to separate him from crime.
Endeavor breathed easily. Hawks had even picked the name he would have picked for the pup. Toya would understand, and if not, well, he was always moping about missing that lunatic that had cuckolded him and the rest of his “pack,” he could go back to them or to Tartarus. He loved his son, but he felt justified still in the actions he had taken, and nothing excused what Toya had done.
“Little Hiroto Todoroki,” he cooed, feeling the same rush of love he had once felt while naming Toya with Rei. His son didn’t even want his own name, why should he get a say in the pup’s.
He squeezed Hawks again. “It sounds right,” he agreed. “Daiki… is too tied to things he won’t want to be reminded of,” he said cautiously. “The pup deserves a start without pain or baggage, and to be named after something that isn’t even a name… Hiroto is just better.”
Hawks blushed slightly hearing Endeavor say the pups name, well…possible name..he thought. It sounded good though, a good name. It did sound right but he really needed him and Dabi to talk about it. He was favoriting the name more and saying it out loud made him like it more. The blonde nodded slightly in agreement. That was his concern too but not one he could really bring up with his mate…Dabi didn’t see that stuff as an issue. “I’ll talk to Dabi, let him know I’m probably leaning towards that name and see what he thinks,” the younger hero explained. “Can’t believe I am basically half way there..” he said surprised but a bit nervous. About 20 more weeks and he would have a pup…
Endeavor raised his eyebrow sharply when Hawks mentioned Toya’s… villain name. “Remember where we are,” he chided softly. “Let’s keep private things private, for Hiroto’s sake,” he said quietly. The pup’s father could never come to light, for Hawks’ sake, and the boy’s. Again, Toya should understand this.
He sighed happily, eyeing the small baby bump Hawks was sporting. “Possibly sooner, if he’s eager like his father was,” he warned. “I couldn’t have won that fight without you, Hawks, but Hiroto can’t defend himself yet, and much of the energy your body usually spends on keeping you healthy and strong is going to him. You’re at higher risk of more broken bones, worse bruising, so many things that could take you or Hiroto away from the world. Please, don’t engage any more until after he arrives.”
Hawks frowned sightly hearing Endeavor before running his fingers through his growing hair. “Yeah sorry, sorry,” he said softly. It sort of slipped his mind. He heard pregnancy brain was a thing, but he didn’t really believe it. His been a bit more forgetful and unfocused. “I hope not…I want him to have the best chance he could have,” he told the flame hero. He was worried he could have the pup early and they be sick, but his been fine so far. The blonde looked up at Endeavor when he was praised but also slightly scolded for helping in the fight. “I know…I know…I just…couldn’t leave. There were so many people and they were so scared and that thing could have killed you. I don’t know how I’m supposed to do nothing in a situation like that,” he explained. “I’m used to risking my life, it’s hard to remember it’s just not just me anymore,” Hawks admitted. “I’ll try to avoid any future battles. I could still help from a distance.” He added. He just wanted to be able to do more. He already knew healing took longer by how slow his feathers have been coming in.
Endeavor nodded approvingly. “I know you’ve probably never considered sticking solely to rescue work, but if there is another situation like this between now and his birth, please, avoid combat,” he asked, fighting the internal urge to order Hawks away from combat. “You saved my life,” he praised. “But that’s worth little to me or the world if it costs yours or Hiroto. How are my other pups, have you spoken to them?” he asked.
Hawks sighed softly hearing Endeavor before hesitant nodding to him. He could try that…just rescue for now. It wouldn’t be so bad…he decided. The blonde smiled sheepishly at Endeavor when he was praised. It felt good to know he did good and actually helped him. “Yeah I know…I’ll be more careful.” He assured the flame hero softly. “I have only had a chance to talk to…one of them, and they werent in a great mood. I’ll probably head to the house and get Fuyumi and check on everyone,” he told Endeavor, letting him know he was meaning Dabi. He really needed to get home and check on him.
Enji snorted, patting Hawks gently. “You can’t take their moods personally,” he advised, even though a part of him knew that most of Toya’s moods were, in fact, his fault, and despite the fact he took everything that Toya did personally. “They’re like their mother, lashing out at any perceived slight,” he continued. “Unable to toughen up to the reality of the world, and of hero work. It’s… good, that Shoto is the only one who is in training. Even if the other’s quirks had been suited, temperaments are another matter. Be safe,” he warned.
Hawks blushed slightly as Endeavor moved his hand to pat him. “I know…I just know he really wanted to see me last night,” he said softly. He felt awful about it but he had a job to do and Endeavors life was at risk. “His not so bad. I’m sure the others were able to take care of it,” he assured him before sighing. “You gonna be okay if I leave for a bit? I’m sure Fuyumi will be happy to come see you,” he told the flame hero, still feeling hesitant on leaving.
Endeavor nodded. “I’ll be fine. Go check on the others, but be cautious,” he warned, continuing to pet the omega.
Hawks smiled softly hearing him, “Yeah I will,” he assured the man before humming softly. “You wouldn’t happen to have a driver or anything would you? I can’t exactly fly right now. I could call a cab but I don’t want to get mobbed,” he complained softly. Maybe he can have Fuyumi come get him.
Enji shook his head. He wasn’t used to relying upon others. Even in the wake of Toya’s accident, he’d hardly let anyone else search. No one could have been more thorough than him, more careful, or so he’d thought. He’d found the bits of bone, taken them as the whole truth. Why hadn’t he looked harder, found signs that Toya had been taken away? Dragged the lake, something, anything, that would have prevented this.
Well, it was too late now. “Perhaps Fuyumi or Natsuo could come get you,” he suggested gently. “Or you could ask the Commission. I don’t know if leaving… the house alone is a good idea right now,” he admitted, not wanting Toya to throw a fit.
Hawks sighed softly, damn. Enjis car was still downtown too, they would need to pick it up later. “Yeah that’s true…and no way I am asking them. I’ll just get a cab,” he assured him. Toya shouldn’t be alone right now and he didn’t want to cause them any trouble. He could ride his bike back too. With the helmet no one will notice him. “Alright. I’ll be back soon then. Try and get some rest,” he warned the older hero as he stood up and grabbed his things.
Endeavor grabbed Hawks’ wrist, rubbing his thumb against it soothingly. “Be safe,” he cautioned, smiling fondly at the omega. “I’ll see you soon, Hawks.”
Hawks looked at Endeavor slightly surprised when he was grabbed before relaxing at the soothing gesture. “I will be just fine don’t worry.” He assured the older man gently as he patted his arm lightly. “Later,” he told him warmly as he stepped out of the room and called a cab on the way down. It shouldn’t take him too long to get a ride and back to the house, just enough to mentally prepare himself. Hawks out the code it the gate before heading up to the door and going in. It was still early so he couldn’t be surprised if the others were sleeping. “I’m home,” he called as he went in and kicked his boots off tiredly.
Fuyumi had slept on the sofa, waiting for Toya to exit his room or Hawks to come home, whichever came first. Evidently, it was Hawks. She’d thought she’d smelled smoke coming from his room, but honestly hadn’t been brave enough to check. She stretched, looking harried, and stood, shuffling over to Hawks and grabbing his arm almost insistently. “Toya is in a very bad mood, Hawks,” she cautioned, wincing as her burnt palms made contact with him.
She looked terrible. She hadn’t eaten, honestly wasn’t even sure if Natsuo had spent the night or gone home. She’s retreated inwardly, not sure how to manage the afternoon before. It had been too close to her childhood for comfort. This was too close to her childhood for comfort, warning her father of her mother’s mood. “He went to his room after you got off the phone. I don’t know what he’s doing now. Natsuo might still be here, and might have tried speaking to him, but I don’t know.”
Hawks looked at Fuyumi surprised when she sat up from the couch. He opened his mouth to greet her before closing it hearing her warning. The blonde sighed softly. “Shit…” he mumbled softly as he rubbed his face. “Okay. I will handle it…” he mumbled softly. “Um. I got to head back to the hospital today. Did you want to go see him? His probably gonna be there a few days,” he told the girl. He could see Natsuos shoes by the door so he was probably here. He needed to go find his mate and calm him down
Fuyumi nodded and then glanced down at her bandaged hands, holding them up shyly. “We’ll need a cover story,” she mumbled apologetically. “I didn’t know how else to get him to stop, but he didn’t mean to! Honestly, I think being afraid of hurting me and Natsuo is the only thing that got him to stop… I haven’t seen him like that since,” she paused, not sure if Hawks knew the story that had separated Shoto from the rest of the family. “Since he was eight,” she finished after a long pause.
Hawks looked at Fuyumis hands surprised. “Jesus Fuyumi. Are you okay?” He asked worried as he cupped her hands gently. “You need to be more careful. His flames are too dangerous. He could have seriously hurt you,” he warned. He calls himself Dabi for a reason. “I’ll try and fix it.” He assured her.
Fuyumi nodded, still looking meek and ashamed, her eyes wet and lonely. “I’m fine. I trust him not to hurt me,” she said, in spite of her hands. “At least not on purpose,” she amended, though she remembered the hate in his eyes when he’d lunged at Shoto as much as she remembered all his tearful apologies and attempts to make it better for years afterwards. “He might have been burning stuff in his room,” she said cautiously. “I thought I smelled smoke, but I didn’t know what to say.”
She nodded towards the phone sized dent in the wall. “He got into a fight with Shigaraki, trying to stop the attack. He’s really scared, and when he’s scared, he gets angry instead of just letting himself feel it.”
Hawks sighed as he rubbed Fuyumis arm gently to try and comfort her. He just hated that she got hurt, possibly because of him…”Okay. I’ll go check on him.” He assured her. He really hoped he wasn’t doing too much damage in there. The blonde sighed seeing the hole, “Right…I’ll try and fix that before Endeavor gets home,” he assured her again. He felt like he had a lot to make up for even though he didn’t do any wrong…”Sorry for worrying you. I’ll go talk to Dabi. Let me know what you want to do,” he told Fuyumi before heading down the hall to check on his mate. He got to the room before knocking gently. “Dabi…babe…I’m home,” he announced softly.
Dabi sat curled into a small, angry ball beside the smoking remains of the shrine to him. His dad wasn’t going to be here for days anyway, so what did it matter if he did away with it now. If not this, Endeavor would find something else to be angry about when he got home. May as well burn the shrine, and the ugly little picture of the stupid, hopeful teenager that was the person everyone really wished had come home, and not him.
Hawks’ voice should have been comforting, all he’d wanted was to hear it, but instead it just made him angry. Why had Hawks taken so long to come home? Why had he fought at all? Daiki needed to be protected. He figured the least Hawks could do was go with his pick of names now, since he couldn’t even be bothered to stay away from fights and keep the pup safe. He tiredly picked up a piece of burnt wood and threw it listlessly at the door in hopes it might push the screen open a bit, not responding verbally or making a move to get up and open the door himself. How could Hawks just act like things were fine and normal?
Hawks listened at the door before frowning feeling a thump against the door and the sound of wood hitting the ground. He slowly slid the door open before coughing slightly at the smoke. “Jesus Dabi, what happen in here?” He asked concerned as he covered his mouth and quickly went to the window, sliding it open so the room could air out some. If he had his wings, he could use them to clear the smoke out. “Are you okay? I’m sorry I couldn’t make it home last night. I wanted to. You know I rather be here with you then out there,” he told the arson as he walked over to him and stood by his side, looking over the ruined shine.
Dabi shrugged, glaring up at Hawks. The little vases and picture frame sat in pieces beside him. “I’m fine,” he grit out, eyes wounded as he stared up at his mate. “Dad’s been wishy washy on if we can get rid of this stupid thing, so I took matters into my own hands,” he said simply, like it needed no other explanation.
In his hand, he clutched the remains of what had been the picture of himself, his face burned out entirely, only his school uniform and the background remaining. “I don’t know that. I told you I needed you and you didn’t come home,” he spat, trembling. “If you want me to stop comparing you to my dad, stop doing the same shitty things he does. I needed you here, Keigo.”
Hawks listened to Dabi before frowned as he looked over the mess. The blonde slowly sat down beside the arson before looking at him. He hated how upset Dabi was and how hurt he looked. He didn’t want to upset him but he had to stay…didn’t he get why? He didn’t care about the shrine, and the others seemed okay with getting rid of it. It looked expensive though, Endeavor probably wouldn’t be happy it was trashed.
Hawks sighed deeply hearing him. “And I’m sorry. I’m not trying to be shitty. I thought I was doing the right thing. Endeavor was out cold and in serious condition. It didn’t feel right to leave him there helpless with Shigaraki targeting us. Shoto was at school and you were with Fuyumi and Natsuo, I figured I should stay at the hospital,” he explained. It made sense to him…
Dabi looked even more upset at Hawks’ words. “And I told you what I needed, Hawks. It can make all the sense in the world to you, and that doesn’t mean it was right. You don’t just get to make choices unilaterally for our family. I gave up everything to be here, to be with you, and you can’t just come home? You could have gone back, for fuck’s sake, but I told you I needed you here and you ignored me. I don’t care how strong you are, none of that matters when our pup’s in danger. Why was everyone else, more important than me and our pup? Why was my dad more important to you than he and I are?” he asked, voice breaking as he shivered. “Why did you make me come here if it was just gonna be the same as it used to be?” he asked. “No one listens to me, no one hears how I feel or cares what I need. I’m just stupid, scary Toya, throwing a fit. No wonder my mom went crazy. How am I supposed to live without a say in our lives?”
Hawks tensed seeing his words seemed to frustrate the arson more. That wasn’t fair…”I know you don’t care about him Dabi but the world needs him right now. We need him right now. Don’t you get that if he dies we are fucked?” He asked the villain. Why couldn’t he just be reasonable? “I’m keeping him alive to keep us alive. I’m doing it for you, not against you,” he told the arson frustrated. “I am home as soon as I could. I couldn’t just walk back and the media was all over the place. I have to keep up appearances even in these kinds of situations too. I know what I am doing and you need to trust me. I didn’t stay because I wanted to, I had too,” he explained, he always seemed to think it was to spite him. “I gave up everything too! You see how people are reacting already! Sorry you had to give up the other omega you fuck but I’m giving up my body, my career, my status, my freedom!” He snapped slightly. “I didn’t make you do anything,” he hissed slightly as he stood up. “We agreed on this as a team so stop blaming me. Everyone is catering to you Dabi. We’re all doing the best we can but none of it seems good enough for you. It was my first day back. Sorry I couldn’t drop everything and run back home,” he said annoyed as he crossed his arms. He wasn’t trying to snap, but he was tired and upset.
Dabi growled, shoulders tensing. “You think this is about Tomura?” he shouted. “I gave up the only chance I had at living a full fucking life! At being healed! I gave up my body too, which no one seems to want to talk about but me! I gave up my career, my fucking passion, the only thing that kept me alive for like half my life. The only friends I’ve ever had. At least you get to leave the fucking house. I think my mom gets more time in the real world than I do! What about my freedom? And yeah, even though this isn’t about him, I gave up Tomura too!” he yelled, bashing his fists into his head.
He shouldn’t have gotten close to either omega, just killed his dad and himself like he’d planned. “I wish I’d fucking stayed in that coma,” he spat. “Eventually they would have realized what a fucking waste I am and given up on me, just like the whole fucking world and apparently you too. Everyone’s trying? I’m fucking trying! No one ever tells me I’m doing a good job, not even you, unless I cook or fuck you good enough,” he ranted. “I get it, okay? I’ve gotten it for a long fucking time, how much I don’t deserve to be here, but if you want me in this pup’s life, you need to hear me when I tell you I need something. I am trying to fucking communicate with you, to be good! If it’s not fucking good enough then I can stop.”
Hawks scoffed softly, “Of course I do! It’s always about him! And how much you regret picking me and not him!” He yelled back. Sometimes he made it too clear that he wanted Shigaraki more or at least the life he could of had with him. “No one forced you here! No one is making you stay!” He pointed out as he waved his hands slightly to stress his point. “God forbid I thought you were here because you wanted to be! We can get you help! You don’t need that creep or his quirk. We can find someone else,” he reasoned with the villain. “And as long as you stop burning shit you won’t get worse!” He added as he kicked the burnt piece of wood away.
Hawks gave him a hurt look hearing him as he clinched his fist. That wasn’t true. He complimented Dabi all the time didnt he? “You can tell me what you need Dabi! And I will fucking try and do it but the world doesn’t revolve around you! I did want I could and got here as soon as I could! Stop making it seem like I don’t care because I had to wait a few fucking hours!” He snapped before holding his head as he panted softly. He felt nauseous and lightheaded. He was supposed to be resting, not fighting his mate.
Dabi snarled, bashing his closed fist into his head. “I do not regret my choice. Stop putting words in my mouth! But this is hard for me, Hawks. This fucking house, my dad, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and you can’t just fucking acknowledge that. Do you know how much easier it would be, how much less trapped I would feel, if you could just be on my side with him instead of between us, or on his?” he asked, voice dropping from a yell to a whisper.
He hid his face in his knees. He couldn’t look at Hawks. Not now. “I thought we agreed you wouldn’t do hero work again until after he was born,” he whimpered. “That was the scariest, worst moment of my life, worse than when I couldn’t put myself out on the peak, or when he brought home Shoto, and I needed to see you. You’re not hearing me, you’re not listening to anything I’m trying to say. You and everyone else think I’m some kind of lost cause fuckup, so why should I try to be better?” he whimpered, something cold and cruel at the edge of his hurt voice. “I’m with you because I want to be. I don’t want to be here. You refuse to fucking hear how he treated me, or even see it. This is the nicest he’s been to me, the most attention he’s given me, since the day he made it clear that I was a mistake, and it’s still awful. Fuyumi winces at any raised voice. Natsuo is never here except to see me. Shoto fucking hates him. He kept Shoto away from us all. My mom has been in a psych ward for over a decade! Do you think we’re all just making it up? Stop defending him constantly and just try to fucking hear me when I tell you how he makes me feel,” he begged. “I am trying to control my quirk, but when I get upset, I can’t. If I had any real control over it, there wouldn’t be a shrine for me to destroy. Just… fucking. I begged you to come home, Hawks. But you know better than me because you think you are better than me because you’re a hero and I’m a villain. Well, fine. Be a hero. Just like my dad.”
Hawks watched Dabi as he continued to hit himself. He hated when he did that, why was he constantly trying to hurt himself!? “You sure act like it! Always saying how much I ruined everything for you! I keep acknowledging how much this sucks for you and I keep trying to help and offer solutions but at the end of the day I left the decision up to you and you said this was our best choice for the pup!” He reminded his mate annoyed. “I’m on your side the pretty much every time! I always defend you to him! I wasn’t picking his fucking side because I didn’t want someone to sneak in and kill him! I was doing the right thing,” he growled soflty. How could he say he picked Endeavor over him? No he had chose to save a life over going home to comfort someone. It had nothing to do with sides.
Hawks leaned against the doorway as he sighed. “I wasn’t trying to do hero work Dabi. We were attacked. Targeted. I didn’t go looking for a fight. But I couldn’t do nothing when I had the chance to save all this people. I know I shouldn’t have tried to fight the special nomu and I’m sorry about that. I was just panicked and doing what I knew how to do,” he apologized in a sincere tone, he did regret scaring him like that, everyone. “I don’t think that Dabi! I wouldn’t be with you if I thought that! You’re great and I love you,” he pressed. He loved him so much but he couldn’t run to his every call. “I’m not going to let someone die because you don’t like them! This isn’t me defending him over you. I believe you, all of you, but that doesn’t mean his beyond help or forgiveness,” the blonde said annoyed as he shook his head in disbelief. He couldn’t even protect someone without Dabi getting jealous or something. “I don’t know better than you, but I know you wouldn’t care if Endeavor died when I left.” He stated firmly. “If that is what a hero is then I guess I’ll have to deal with it.” He finished.
Dabi whined, hiding his face more. He was running out of words. All he wanted to do was cry. Why couldn’t he just cry anymore?
He made a gasping, shaky sound into his legs and dug his nails into his arms. “Fine. You’re right and I’m wrong,” he mumbled after a long moment, still not looking up. All he’d wanted was to see Hawks, to know he and the pup were safe. He couldn’t keep doing this, and clearly Hawks didn’t want or need him, but he had nowhere else to go, no one else that wanted him. “It’s the best choice for the pup, Hawks, and the worst choice for me. I don’t have anything left to give you guys. If this isn’t enough, if my best isn’t enough for you, then why are you with me?” he whispered. “If I could be someone better for you, I would.”
Hawks frowned heavily hearing his mate. “I’m not trying to win Dabi. I’m trying to get you to understand,” he said upset but bringing his tone down as he relaxed a little. “It’s the choice we made Dabi. I don’t know what else we can do,” he told him softly as he ran his fingers through his blonde waves. “I never said this wasn’t good enough or you weren’t enough. I just needed to make sure he wasn’t going to die, that’s all I did. I apologize for fighting that thing but it’s not like I wanted too. Fuck we were just eating,” he explained. “Yesterday was really shit for me. You think I wanted to sleep in a hospital chair especially this pregnant? No but you said the league could be coming,” he reasoned. His choice had nothing to do with him.
Dabi sniffled again, refusing to look up. “Yeah, and if they did, I’m the one who knows how to fight them. I’m the one that’s trained with them, that could protect you,” he muttered. “I can’t do shit to keep you safe if you’re miles away and out of contact with me,” he pointed out. “You don’t have to say it, I feel it all the time anyway. I tried to be open yesterday, and you wouldn’t even have a conversation with me about it. You just told me you were going to stay, like I was a child. I’m doing my best for you, and all it feels like anyone sees is when I fuck up.”
Hawks grunted softly, “You needed to stay with your siblings. I could have handled it. Even without engaging in combat I could of handled it,” he reasoned. He didn’t think at least half the league would kill him. Him and Twice were friends, Toga wouldn’t hurt the pup, and he had faith Spinner wouldn’t either. He didn’t know Compress well but he didn’t seem that bad either. “I know that you wanted to keep me safe but without Endeavor we would be fucked anyways. It was better for us that I stayed and you refuse to understand it cause you just think I want to leave you for him. That’s why I made the decision,” he told Dabi firmly. He couldn’t trust the arson to make rational choices when it involved his father. “That’s not true Dabi. It kind of sucks that you don’t see anything I do for you and think of me like this. I love you and you just can’t seem to believe that,” he said annoyed.
Dabi finally glared up at him. “You’re the one who just accused me of regretting picking you? What the fuck kind of faith is that in me?” he snapped. “I love you, and I love our little boy, and I’m sorry I didn’t trust you and I let the fact I thought you were a spy keep us apart, but is the rest of my life going to be you making me feel shitty about it? I picked you! You’re my mate! I’m in love with you, and I’m the fucking bad guy because I worry about someone who more than being my ex is my friend and is carrying my pup? Do you want me to not care about his half-brother?” he asked, voice shaking.
He sniffled. “You don’t seem to think I love you either, Hawks. So, stop pretending otherwise. You probably could have handled it, yeah, but if it’s not going to be a discussion then why should I ever ask for things or tell you how I feel?”
Hawks scoffed softly, “Maybe because you hate everything we have together. You only see the bad things and none of the good ones. I know you love me but I feel like you would be happier with him and you think that too,” he resorted. He always talked about Shigaraki in such a fond caring tone. “Your ex just tried to fucking kill me so sorry if I’m a bit skeptical on you talking to him!” He said frustrated. “Like you said his only keeping it to piss you off. His not going to let you see them!” He pointed out. There was no point in trying with Shigaraki in their position. “We had a discussion and I considered your point of view. Then, If I remember correctly you hung up on me,” he said annoyed. It’s not like they kept talking. Dabi was too annoyed to press or further.
Dabi winced, feeling like he was going to throw up again. “I don’t,” he protested. “I love you. I love that you make me laugh, that you’re sweet, and good, and smart, that you keep me on my toes. I love that our pup is gonna be as fast and bright and beautiful as you, that I’m teaching you how to cook, that you helped me reconnect with my siblings… and I don’t think that. I think I would have been happier if you and I could have stayed in the League.”
He sniffed. “It didn’t sound like you were hearing me. You didn’t acknowledge what I was trying to say, or how I felt. I hung up because I was getting irrational and I didn’t want to yell at you or start burning again, I already accidentally hurt Fuyumi. I just needed to feel heard and comforted,” he said, voice growing flat as he shut down.
Hawks listened to Dabi as he looked down slightly. That was all good stuff…so why was this still the worse time of his life? “Well that’s not my fault. It’s Shigaraki’s. His the one that kicked us out and put us here. I wanted to stay with the league too but this is the only other thing I could come up with,” he explained. Why was he so desperate to get Shigaraki back when this was all his fault.
“I didn’t feel like you were hearing me either but I didn’t hang up. I was trying to communicate,” he pointed out. He probably would of stayed on the phone a long time about it, trying to get him to understand. “I heard you Dabi. And I came home. I just couldn’t when you wanted me too,” Hawks told his mate as he stayed leaned against the door frame. He was sore and exhausted. He didn’t want to argue anymore and he still had to leave again
Dabi couldn’t look at Hawks. Why did they keep having to fight? He shivered. “All I wanted was to hold you, to smell you, feel our little guy… why can’t it ever just be easy. I’m trying, Hawks. I know it’s his fault, okay? And I’m fucking furious at him. I don’t know how to forgive him for what he did yesterday, even if he thought he was saving me. I probably can’t. But I wanted to try and have some kind of connection with my pup, Hawks. I’m not going to apologize for that.”
He continued to shake. “I didn’t want to yell at you. I knew if I stayed on the phone I’d get mean and make things worse. No matter how much I try to be better, everything I do is wrong. You two are my whole world, and I had to watch you almost die.“
Hawks deflated slightly as he watched his mate. “I know…I wanted that too. I really did..but…I mean come on Dabi…you can’t really expect me to leave him I think his gonna die right? I would have stayed for anyone..” he told him softly. Isn’t that one of the things he loved about him. “I don’t blame you for reaching out and I’m happy you tried to have him call off the attack if it was a misunderstanding but he showed his hand. We can’t keep him in the loop anymore. I didn’t even know he had more nomu,” he admitted. especially ones that that. Who knew what else he was hiding…
“I know…I’m sorry. It’s wasn’t exactly easy for me either, but if I just watched..I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself,” Hawks explained softly as he gripped the door frame. He would have shut down if he just let Endeavor be murdered in front of him.
Dabi shrugged, unable to look at Hawks. Why didn’t he just come hug him? He needed to hold his mate and his pup. “I don’t know what I expected, Hawks, but I felt shut down by how you talked to me about staying,” he said firmly. “And yeah, that makes two of us. I didn’t know we had any more nomu, but he cut me out when I told him about you. I hadn’t made a decision or heard a plan in weeks,” he explained.
He swallowed hard. “Are we okay enough for you to let me feel him? I know the doctors said he’s okay, and that you’re okay, but I really need to touch you guys. I’ve been thinking so much about him… the whole time, I just kept wondering, is Daiki okay? I don’t know how you’re feeling yet, but I guess I’m starting to lean pretty heavily,” he said, laughing sadly.
Hawks sighed hearing him, “Well I’m sorry. I was just trying to explain why,” he told his mate. He didn’t want to make him feel bad but he had to stay. He wished he had more information on the league but he was only really starting to get anything when everything happened.
The blonde relaxed hearing the alpha request. “Yes of course. You can touch him,” he assured his mate as he moved his coat back to encourage him. The hero paused slightly hearing him call the baby Daiki, fuck…he thought a little uncomfortable. “Yeah…I don’t know I guess I had been kind of leaning the other way…it’s just what’s been coming up in my head,” he admitted. He wasn’t sure he wanted to go with Daiki now.
Dabi looked up, making little grabby hands for Hawks to join him. He wanted the omega in his lap and didn’t feel up to moving right now. His face fell slightly at Hawks’ admission. Oh.
He laughed, sad and uncomfortable. He wasn’t going to get a say in either of his pups’ names, was he? “Okay,” he said quietly, lacking anything else. “Sure. That’s… yeah. Fine,” he mumbled, unwilling to have another fight. “Can you please just come let me hold you?” he begged, starting to shake again.
Hawks watched the alpha as he gave him a soft smile, he looked kind of cute like that. He frowned seeing Dabi deflate again. “It’s not decided. I was just thinking about it, like you where,” he explained. They both seemed to have an idea of what they wanted to use in their head. He really wanted the villain to come to him but he didn’t mind sitting down. The blonde groaned as he lifted up from the door frame he was leaning against before shuffling over to him and dropping into his lap miserably, burying his face into the arsons shoulder.
Dabi just nodded. It sounded to him like Hawks had already made up his mind. He wasn’t even going to get to be the little guy’s dad in public, why had he thought he’d have anything close to a say in his son’s name. He wrapped himself around Hawks, wishing he felt less sick. It felt like he’d been hit by a truck, the wave of emotions and all the quirk use he’d done. He wasn’t sure he could stand, but why bother Hawks with that. He pressed his palms to the growing baby bump, relieved by its presence. He didn’t want to scent Hawks without asking, and he was afraid if he asked he’d be told no. Besides, how many times had Hawks scented him first? None that he could remember right away, and maybe sometimes he wanted to smell like his omega.
Hawks hummed happily as he curled up against Dabi eagerly. He felt good…warm and cozy, his scent was familiar and comforting. He could almost pass out. The blonde shivering feeling his warm hand on his stomach. He tugged his shirt up slightly so he could feel it with his bare hand. The warmth felt nice against his stomach. “I have been feeling little flutters…I don’t think you’ll be able to feel it yet, but his moving,” he admitted to Dabi fondly as he placed his hand over the arsons.
Dabi sniffed Hawks, comforted by his sweet, familiar scent. Hawks was the best smelling omega he’d ever met. He gasped at the mention of their pup moving, pressing his hand more firmly against his lover’s stomach. “Oh, wow… you think it’s his wings or his little limbs?” he asked, not sure if either would feel different to Hawks. “I know you have to go back, but could you stay for a few hours, please? Once I can stand, I just want to be in our nest with you,” he mumbled. “Both of you… I can’t believe he’s really moving in there… hey baby birdie, it’s your dad… be good for your mom when you guys aren’t at home, okay?” he asked the pup, stroking Hawks on the stomach.
Hawks smiled feeling Dabi press more against his stomach at the news. He laughed softly as he pressed his face against the arsons neck. “I don’t know, just feels like butterflies in my stomach,” he explained. It was barely noticeable sometimes. The blonde looked up at Dabi before smiling slightly as he nodded. “Yeah…I can stay a while. I’m exhausted,” he admitted softly. His wings were gone, his face was sore, his back was sore, and he hasn’t moved like that in a few weeks so his limbs were pretty sore too. Relaxing in his somewhat built nest sounder great. He found the more into his pregnancy he got, the more his nest was coming along. “Yeah it kind of surprised me. The doctor said it was normal around this time,” he told the arson warmly. They were really alive in there…Hawks closed his eyes as he let Dabi stroke his stomach. He felt like it would be too much to ask the arson to carry him back to the room, he seemed pretty wore out too.
Dabi kissed the side of his mate’s face as best as he was able, leaning down and pressing another kiss to the corner of his mouth as Hawks beamed up at him. “Give me a minute to get my shit together and I’ll try and carry you,” he offered. “I haven’t eaten since before you and my dad left, and I didn’t sleep either,” he admitted. “You missed out on some pretty good omurice,” he teased. “I mean, I think. I don’t even know if Natsuo finished it after I got upset.”
Hawks laughed softly as he was kissed on before looking at Dabi warmly when he offered to carry him. “I don’t want to strain you…don’t if you don’t think you can,” he warned him softly. He didn’t want his mate to hurt himself. “Mm that does sound good. You should check and eat something,” he told the arson softly. He actually hasn’t eaten in a while, maybe that’s why he felt so lightheaded. “Looks like he stayed so he probably did,” he assured his mate softly.
Dabi huffed, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, probably. Maybe if we make a really sad face at Fuyumi she’ll bring us something we can snack on in bed,” he suggested. “I just want to hold you. Not to sound like… stupid and horny, but all I wanted was to hold you and scent you and knot you, make sure you were safe and mine again,” he mumbled, kissing the omega’s jaw. “I missed you. And even if it was horrible to think about the pup getting hurt, you did good. I know you’re a badass, okay? I’m never doubting that. You’ll always kick ass. Just be safer, if you can, okay?”
Hawks hummed softly, “She looked pretty beat. She probably went to lay down for a bit or something…” he said, suddenly feeling bad about all the yelling. He needed to apologize again. The hero blushed slightly hearing his mate as he shivered. He wanted that too, but he wasn’t sure he could right now. “Mmm that sounds nice…” he agreed softly. He loved being on his knot, especially while his hormones are running crazy. “Thanks babe…I know…I’m trying. Hopefully they won’t send anything like that again..” he said worried as he hugged Dabis waist tiredly.
Dabi laughed as Hawks shivered, moving his hand to rub the omega on the hip. “You’re so cute when I turn you on,” he teased, giving Hawks an open-mouthed kiss on the jaw. “They’re gonna want you bonded soon, right?” he asked semi-nervously. “As soon as we get the house to ourselves, we should think about spending the day in the nest, seeing if I can’t time it just right so that you cum on my knot as I claim you,” he teased, wanting Hawks to feel loved. “I picked you, birdie. I’m happy to be with you, okay? No one’s ever loved anybody the way I love you. I think we both need to trust each other more,” he admitted.
Hawks blushed as he listened to Dabi tease him, he turned him on so easily too, it wasn’t fair. Hawks shivered feeling the heated kiss, nuzzling deeper against his mate, scenting him lightly. “Yeah…probably,” he considered softly before smiling fondly. That did sound nice…it might be a good time for it. It would at least calm Dabi down. “Okay…yeah it should be fine. Maybe on my birthday?” He suggested warmly, a bit excited to do it. “I love you too, so much,” he cooed back in delight as he kissed the arson slowly. He did want to bond with him. He would need to give Endeavor a heads up.
Dabi snorted, but made a soft, happy sound as he was scented before returning the gesture. Hawks was so fucking cute, he couldn’t stand it. “You want birthday sex?” he teased, though it was actually a pretty cute idea. “You could have anything in the world, and you want birthday sex? Knot-slut,” he teased fondly before sinking into a kiss.
Why wasn’t it good like this all the time? It wasn’t just the sex, though that helped. Things could be so good between him and Hawks, so why weren’t they all the time? He was trying so hard. “My sweet little mate,” he cooed. “I’m sorry we fought, birdie,” he admitted softly. “I just need you to hear me,” he said quietly. “I promise, I’m trying. And I made the right choice, leaving with you. I should have trusted you from the beginning. You’re my other half, my mate. I don’t regret picking you, okay? I could never. And I’m sorry if I’ve made you feel I do.”
Hawks blushed deeply hearing Dabi as he teased him. It wasn’t his fault. They weren’t able to go at it all the time living here and now would be a good time with Endeavor being out in the hospital. He kissed his mate tenderly before gently pulling back. “Well that and you promised to make me a red velvet cake,” he reminded the alpha with a smirk, his cocky look being ruined by his red face.
Hawk hummed softly, “It’s okay…I’m know we’re in a hard spot and that I fucked up yesterday…” he admitted softly. “My life is just changing so fast and I don’t know how to keep up sometimes,” he explained, hugging his mate tightly. The hero relaxed when Dabi assured him he wanted to be here and they were meant to be together. He gave the arson an adoring look. “Thank you…I love you so much,” the blonde cooed as he pressed their foreheads together.
Dabi rolled his eyes. Hawks was too blushy to take seriously right now, but god was he cute. Sometimes he worried he was shallow, because Hawks being hot had been so much of his initial attraction, but honestly, Hawks was cutest when he was a little flustered, his hair messed up. The baby bump was also doing insane things to his own libido. If they weren’t living with his family, he wasn’t sure they’d be getting anything done but having sex most days. “Yeah, yeah. You’ll get your cake,” he promised. “Cake and sex. You’re easy to please, you know that?” he teased. “Lucky for both of us I’ve got a big knot and love fucking you.”
He sighed when Hawks got serious again. Both of their lives were changing, and they’d been entirely unprepared. “Things are really different now for both of us, and being on opposite sides is keeping us apart,” he said softly. “It would be so much easier without the stupid lie. Without my dad. He’s so open when he checks you out. And it’s like, I know you have a nice ass, I know it, but on top of him being the world’s biggest asshole, he’s my dad, and it sucks how much he clearly wants to fuck you. That’s my job. I’m the one that loves you,” he mumbled as he leaned against Hawks, pushing their foreheads together. “I love you too, birdie. And I’m sorry my issues with my dad make this harder, and make it weirder and worse that he’s perving on you.”
Hawks grinned when he confirmed he was still making the cake, good, he really wanted some and while he could buy it, he wanted his mate to make it. “Yeah well I have lived a lavish life, I prefer the simpler things,” he teased back softly. It’s not like his ever fucked anyone else to compare knots, but he definitely thought Dabis was perfect for him. He didn’t know what bigger would be like, but he didn’t think he needed it.
“Yeah…I wish it didn’t have to be like that..” he told him softly. The lie did make it harder for them, but it was allowing them to make this all possible in the first place. Hawks gave Dabi as slightly surprised look hearing his complaints about his dad. “Ha, what? He does?” He asked flustered. Endeavor was checking him out? Why? How had he not noticed? Maybe Dabi was being paranoid…or maybe he just wasn’t looking for it and didn’t see it how Dabi did. The flame hero had been a lot more bearable to be around lately too with him and Dabi not fighting as much. “I haven’t noticed anything.” He admitted. He saw the flame hero got a little flustered when he flirted in public, but he figured it was just the public that embarrassed him.
Dabi kissed Hawks on the nose, smiling against his blush. No one was cuter than his omega. He wished Hawks’ hair would grow out faster though, he missed its old length.
Dabi snorted. “You seriously haven’t noticed?” he asked, surprised. “The fact that he lets you in his office or talk him down at all, first of all,” he pointed out. “He’s constantly just looking at you, and it’s weird. Even if you weren’t my mate, he’s in the middle of divorcing my mom, I don’t want to see him lusting over someone younger than me,” he complained.
He snorted and gave Hawks a little flick on the shoulder. “Because you still hero worship him, baby. And because you’re focused on me. You’re loyal~” he teased. “You could have had anyone, Hawks. You’re so beautiful and talented, and you picked me. You’re down bad~”
Hawks let the arson kiss his nose as he watched the arson embarrassed. Was he really doing that? Did Endeavor really like him like that? He was with his son? That wouldn’t work? What did he want to happen? Maybe he shouldn’t warn him about them bonding…it could cause issues. “I don’t know, I didn’t know the office was a big deal and I have always been good at talking the big guy down,” he explained. He felt like he was more open to him because they used to be coworkers. Sure, his imagined what it would be like with Endeavor but now he had so much more intimate information about them.
The blonde looked at Dabi flustered, that was true, he was younger than his oldest son…It was just all a teenage crush, but he never suspected it would get this far or any of this would happen. The blond smile when softly when Dabi knew he was loyal and knew he chose him. “Because you’re handsome and talented as well,” he cooed softly as he cupped the villain’s cheek gently. “Of course I’m obsessed,” he teased warmly.
Dabi gave a little shrug. “You’re a hot, unclaimed omega that he’s been friends with for years, birdie. He’s into you, trust me,” he said, wishing it weren’t true.
Dabi laughed, blushing darkly as Hawks praised his looks. He wasn’t objectively terrible looking, sure, but his scars were gross, and he could have been much, much better looking, just look at the rest of the family. “Hottest thing about me is my quirk, but thanks, birdie,” he teased, sounding just a little sad. “Talent though, that I’ve got. You’re sweet though, when you praise me. I really, really like when you praise me,” he admitted, sounding almost flustered. “And when you say I’m handsome, even if that’s a tough pill to swallow.”
Hawks nodded slightly. He wasn’t sure how to handle that. Did he need to change their relationship? He wasn’t actually sure how he would react if Endeavor came onto him. He liked to think he could easily reject him; he was with Dabi and loved him. He just hoped he was better than that and wouldn’t do something awful.
Hawks snorted softly hearing him, “Oh come off it. You are hot. I’m not the only one that thinks so either,” he told his mate amused. “You deserve it. Your special Dabi….amazing,” he cooed to him warmly as he rubbed the arsons chest gently. “Even if you don’t know it. I do,” he teased him before yawning loudly and laid his head back down on his shoulder.
Dabi shrugged. “I guess, maybe. I’m not like ugly, I guess,” he admitted sheepishly. “I thought that’s why you turned me down, before our lunch. Because I’m not… you know, conventionally attractive or whatever. I could have grown up and been hot, like everyone else in my family, and now I just look… strange. It’s not bad, you know, just not hot,” he admitted. Hawks could have anyone, so it was still a shock that he’d been picked.
He leaned into the omega’s touch, smiling at his praise. “I hope so, anyway. You deserve the best, birdie,” he cooed, leaning into the touches. He laughed softly at the yawn. “Awww, I should put you to bed,” he cooed. “Come on, grab on tight, let’s see if I can’t carry you to bed,” he offered.
Hawks frowned softly hearing his mate as he caressed his cheek. “Don’t be so hard on yourself…you’re perfect,” he assured the arson warmly. “And if you really want us to look into fixing you up we can. I got contacts, know people with lots of special quirks the commission keeps track of,” he explained. If not, he easily had the money to pay for the most expensive treatments. He just wanted Dabi to feel comfortable. The hero smiled when Dabi cooed at him and told him to hold on. “Just be careful..” he warned softly as he held onto Dabi. He didn’t want either of them getting hurt. He usually wouldn’t worry, he was pretty light, but Dabi seemed tired, and he had some extra weight.
Dabi blushed, giving a shrug. “I dunno. It’s just who I am. I just wish I were… better for you. You deserve a better life than what I’m giving you,” he admitted, wrapping his arms tightly around his mate’s waist.
Grunting, he stood, grateful that his mate was small and light, even if he was tired. He kissed the omega’s throat as he stood. “There we go. Easy peasy,” he cooed. “I bet he’s gonna be light too, you know. Bird bones,” he pointed out. “You’re gonna be in trouble, birdie, once there’s an even cuter guy around here,” he teased. “Whatever we name him, he’s gonna be something special. I can feel it, you know? He’s gonna be so good,” he praised, carrying the omega to their room.
Hawks hummed softly, “Don’t worry too much babe. I already love you and I’m happy. We just have to get settled,” he assured him. “Having a kid is the most stressful part in a relationship and we kind of just jumped into,” he added. He didn’t blame Dabi for that, they rushed in pretty fast.
Hawks felt his small wings flutter slightly on instinct as he was lifted up. He felt safe being held in his mates’ arms as he was carried. “Yeah probably…God they are probably going to eat a lot,” the hero considered, he hasn’t considered that. He knew he had a big appetite. “Ha. It will be more of a brag than anything. Maybe even have him model with me,” the blonde teased softly. Hawks laughed softly. “Yes I can feel it…they are already the best thing I have done,” he agreed proudly.
Dabi nuzzled Hawks as they walked, just grateful to smell and feel the omega in his arms. “Yeah, I guess you’re right, but I think that means if we make it through this, we can survive anything. And we’re basically halfway there, right? He’s just gotta finish baking,” he teased.
He wondered if their pup would be like him at all. He’d been envisioning a mini-Hawks this whole time. Maybe the baby would be sarcastic and rude? He wasn’t sure. As long as it didn’t look like him or worse, his dad, he’d take the win. He snorted at the idea of Hawks and the pup modeling together “Yeah, maybe,” he agreed lightheartedly. “The little bitty wings wooooould be pretty cute on tv,” he agreed, setting Hawks down on the bed. “The best thing we’ve ever done,” he agreed. “He’s already perfect, and I don’t even know him yet.”
Hawks laughed softly, “Exactly. Just a bit longer and a few sleepless nights and we will be solid,” he assured the villain happily as he was carried into the room. He yawned again as he was laid down in the bed before rubbing his face tiredly.
Hawks smirked softly as he listened to him. “Though I rather avoid fame all together, I rather he models then do hero work.” He told the arson. “Maybe he could get his hero license so his allowed to fly anywhere though. Kind of sucks without one,” he explained. The blonde chuckled softly, “Yes we,” he agreed softly as he pulled Dabi towards him so they could lay together. He could take a nap then him and Fuyumi could head to the hospital
Dabi groaned, flopping into bed beside Hawks. He’d eat after he slept. He felt too tired to cook right now anyway. “That blows. He should just get to fly, you know? It’s his body. He should have the right to do what he wants with it. I don’t want him endangered or anything, but if that’s what it takes for him to fly…” Dabi groaned. This was another issue with hero society. One the League had been less focused on, but that he still felt strongly about. “Whatever, I guess we have a few years before we start to have to worry. He can fly all around our property without anyone giving a shit. Who knows. I mean, I doubt it, flying’s cool as fuck, but maybe he won’t even like flying,” he pointed out.
He kissed Hawks on the throat again as they cuddled in the nest. “I missed you. I should have said why I was hanging up,” he admitted. “I just don’t want to yell at you the way my dad yelled at my mom,” he mumbled. “I won’t ever treat you two how he treated us,” he promised.
The blonde quickly moved closer to Dabi as he flopped down onto the bed. It was hard to believe they were going to try and bond soon…He was pretty nervous. His never attempted anything like that before wasnt sure what to expect. “I agree. I get why they restrict quirks in acts of aggression and stuff but they should still be able to use them freely. Technically it’s a mutant quirk so maybe the rules won’t be as strict. I never had to deal with it so I’m not sure,” he explained. He would need to look into it more.
Hawks scoffed softly, “No way, his gonna love it. It’s the best feeling. Once he gets some confidence, I doubt we will be able to keep him out of the sky,” he told the villain amused. He had full confidence his son would love it, how could he not? He thinks everyone that can fly, should. Hell, even Endeavor was rocking it, Shoto would probably figure it out soon too.
Hawks hummed softly he was kissed before nuzzling his face against Dabi’s shoulder. “I missed you too. It’s okay. I know why you were frustrated,” he assured him. He just hated when Endeavor was brought into it. “Are you gonna stay and sleep?” He asked the arson curiously, not sure how long he was gonna be able to stay awake. Hopefully Fuyumi would wake him up. Maybe he could convince her to get on his bike with him.
Dabi nodded, nuzzling his nose into Hawks’ face. “Yup. I need cuddles with my mate more than food—but I promise I’ll eat as soon as we get up. I just want to hold you for as long as I can until you have to leave again,” he admitted. “I really can’t sleep without you, even in the nest. Feeling your little fluttery heart, smelling you, it keeps me calm,” he said lovingly.
Hawks listened to Dabi as he smiled warmly. “It’s hard for me to sleep without you too. You keep me nice and warm.” He said happily before yawning softly. He wasn’t looking forward to the hospital stay but he was excited for his birthday in a few day and then Christmas. Hopefully Endeavor will be out by then but who knew if he even celebrated. The blonde sighed contently as he let himself slowly drift off.
Dabi fell asleep, reminding himself to make sure Fuyumi knew everything he needed for Hawks’ cake. Maybe he’d have her grab flowers too. Was that too cheesy? He wasn’t sure, but if he was gonna bond Hawks, which it sounded like he would be, this had to be good.
