Chapter Text
- Fumikage Tokoyami -
“That seems like an offer leaning heavily in our favor.” Hawks commented softly while Fumikage’s brain short circuited. His principal and home room teacher wanted to help him and his mates demolish the commission as they knew it? They weren’t demanding answers or threatening to kick him out of school?
“It’s been a long time since either of us have toppled a corrupt government agency.” Principal Nedzu shrugged. “And if said agency is a threat to two of our students…well, it seems only practically that we help wherever we can.”
Hawks sat back in his chair and crossed his legs as a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. “I wasn’t expecting to come in here and gain allies. But I’m not upset by it.”
And that was how Fumikage spent the rest of his afternoon: sitting in the office, his hands in his lap as Hawks relayed the most pertinent of information. He didn’t go into the same level of detail that they had with Endeavor, but when Aizawa and Nedzu had learned about an unsanctioned “hero school” and the dozens of deaths that had occurred there, their eyes had gone dark and murderous and Fumikage had the tickling suspicion that the pair of them would gladly help Dabi burn the commission headquarters to the ground.
After that, Hawks hadn’t even gotten a chance to talk about what they put adult agents through before Aizawa held a hand up to stop him mid-sentence. “I don’t need to know any more.” He sighed. “Just tell me who to murder.”
Dark Shadow cackled. An evil little sound that spoke of darkness and blood and made fear shoot down Fumikage’s spine.
“Shouta.” Principal Nedzu said pointedly. “No murder.”
“Murder can only be proven if there’s a body.”
Principal Nedzu leveled a disappointed stare at the teacher and let out a soft sigh before turning his attention back to Hawks. “Can you get me in contact with the legal team you and Endeavor put together? I have connections that I’d be happy to pull.” After a brief pause, his eyes narrowed. “Connections like bringing back the death penalty.”
Hawks’ laugh was bright and beautiful as it rang through the office. “A man after my own heart.”
“Speaking of.” The comment sparked something in the principal and he turned to his desk, where his phone sat. His paws snatched it up and after a few fumbling touches that looked more like mashing against the screen, rather than typing, he set it down with a smile. “Your soulmate will be able to travel back and forth from his radius to UA by this evening.”
Fumikage just stared .
For a month, he had gone without Dabi next to him in bed. He’d been forced to make do with phone calls and memories, when all he had to do was ask his principal?
“Oh!” Principal turned to Aizawa. “I changed my mind. One.”
Aizawa’s triumphant grin signaled that he knew exactly what the principal was referring to. Fumikage, however? He was completely and utterly lost.
“One what?” Hawks asked, sounding just as confused as Fumikage felt.
“I will allow one unsanctioned murder. Shouta, I expect you to deliberate with Hawks, Tokoyami, and Dabi for the best candidate.”
“No need for deliberation.” Fumikage whispered out in shock, his throat was scratchy and dry from not being used for so long. “We already have a name.”
____
“Are you okay?” Hawks asked the moment the door closed to their dorm. The dorm that Dabi was going to be standing in soon. The dorm that Fumikage was going to share with both of his soulmates.
“I’m fine.” Fumikage whispered into the skin of Hawks’ neck as he wrapped his arms around his alpha’s middle. “I can’t believe we did it.”
Technically nothing was “done” yet. But it was starting. They’d pushed the first pile of snow off the mountain that he knew would cause an avalanche.
- An avalanche that will destroy the unsuspecting town of evil cultist -
Usually Fumikage would have been slightly horrified by his quirk’s ability to twist every thought and statement down a dark path. But in this case, it was appropriate.
“We did.” Hawks cooed in response. His face nuzzled into Fumikage’s feathers and his arms wrapped tighter around the omega’s middle. “There’s still a lot to do. But our part in it is done. All we have to do is sit back, watch, and enjoy the fruits of our labor.”
“And bathe in the blood of our enemies.” Dark Shadow added. “Because I was promised blood and I intend to make good on that.”
“Of course.” Hawks laughed and Fumikage lifted his head enough to see his alpha reach out a hand and pat the top of the murderous quirk’s head. “How could I forget something like that? I gotta let my blood thirsty mates get those urges out. Otherwise, they’d turn it on me. And I like my feathers where they are, thanks.”
Dark Shadow snorted out a laugh that Fumikage mirrored.
“You’d love it if we turned on you.” Said Dark Shadow and Fumikage nodded in agreement, his beak scraping lightly over Hawks’ neck.
“Not the point.” Hawks chuckled and started gently leading Fumikage toward the bedroom, his arms never leaving their home around his waist. “Let's lay down and wait for our beta. Once he’s here, the two of you can plan your date night.”
“Murder and torture is not a date.” Fumikage breathed out and let out a soft gasp as Dark Shadow nipped the side of his neck in retaliation.
“Everything is a date if you want it to be. Don’t be so closed minded, Fumi.”
“Apologies.”
Because fighting with Dark Shadow was like fighting with air. Useless, embarrassing, and an utter waste of time and energy.
___
Dabi didn’t arrive until well after midnight, which was when his radius was updated to include a very narrow track that allowed him to travel from his home to UA. Fumikage had been fast asleep, but he’d woken up when Hawks and Dabi slipped into bed on either side of him. Distantly he heard Dabi murmuring something about the “fucking massive” bed and he’d snorted into his pillow before turning on his side to nuzzle into Dabi’s chest.
Having both of his mates in his nest? The nest that contained all of the blankets, pillows, and stolen clothing items that Fumikage had painstakingly curated? It was perfect. He drifted off, feeling overwhelmingly thankful that he didn’t have to wait another school year to have it.
- Dabi -
Of all the things Dabi expected to happen after Endeavor and Hawks filed their lawsuit, this current situation hadn’t made the list.
Being allowed at UA? Odd and unexpected, but plausible.
Standing outside a normal looking house a few streets down from his childhood home, with Hawks and Fumi on one side of him and SHOUTA AIZAWA on the other? Completely and absolutely absurd.
“No home security and a publicly listed address.” Aizawa said with a scoff and a shake of his dark head. “It was like she was trying to get kidnapped. You’d think with all of the chaos going on at the commission that she would have been on high alert.”
“Probably thought the commission would protect her.” Hawks answered smoothly. His voice was dark and gravely and it sent a shiver down Dabi’s spine. He loved villain Hawks, the lust for violence and terror, the disregard to rules or expectations. It was beautiful, really.
“Well I can say with utmost sincerity that they didn’t have any guards or hero patrols in the area. So her assumption was a deadly one.” Aizawa shrugged.
“You’re awfully non-challant about this whole thing. Do you go around kidnapping people on a regular basis?” Dabi looked over at the older alpha. His hands were in his pockets, his shoulders slumped downward and his chin tucked neatly in his white scarf-thing.
“Usually only on Thursdays.”
“Please don’t encourage him.” Fumikage whispered and Aizawa instantly turned to Dabi, his red eyes tired and reddened.
“I’ve reviewed the files with Nedzu on top of everything Hawks told us.” The man said softly. “If it were up to me, I’d let you both loose on every single soul even loosely associated with the commission’s administrative team. But there’s a very special place in hell for teachers and people working with children that abuse that honor. I didn’t enjoy bringing her here and I’m not going to sleep like a baby knowing what’s going to happen. But I do think it’s well earned.”
Dabi clapped a hand on the man’s shoulder. “You didn’t have to help.”
“I know.” Was the simple reply he got back before the hero turned and slowly started to walk down the residential street. Dabi and his mates watched him disappear around the corner before they headed into the dark house.
Hawks led the way with Dabi in the middle and Fumikage trailing slowly behind. Dark Shadow had his chin resting on Fumikage’s head, eyes staring forward as his hands rubbed gently along the omega’s shoulders.
Fumikage hadn’t been thrilled about coming. If he’d had his way, he would have stayed home while Hawks and Dabi handled this, but Dark Shadow was eager for blood and pain and Fumikage had elected to tough it out for his quirk and mate.
The house was completely empty and dark when they stepped inside, but a quick “woosh” of one of Hawks’ feathers had one the lights flickering on to reveal a middle aged woman tied to a chair in the living room off to the side of the entryway.
There was a gag in her mouth, ropes criss-crossing over her sleep clothes, and a single wound on her left shoulder where Aizawa had cut out a tracking chip.
“Fuck. You aged like milk, Nakamura.” Dabi whistled and pushed aside Hawks to move to stand in front of her. “But I guess you should be happy to be alive at all after working for the commission this long, right?”
Dark brown, angry eyes stared back at him and a muffled string of curses and screams echoed through the room.
Hawks stepped up to stand beside Dabi and a quick glance to the side revealed that Fumikage had tucked himself behind one of the walls, which still allowed for Dark Shadow to easily float over, but prevented him from getting a front row seat to the scene about to occur.
“She’s trying to say something.” Hawks said in mock concern and reached out to roughly rip the gag away. The force of it pulled her head to the side, her neck making a crack , and left red marks on her cheeks.
“Fuck you.” She spat a glob of saliva at the two men and it landed on the floor with a sickening little splat. “All these theatrics just to kill little old, me? Just do it.”
Dabi’s eyes scanned over her, taking in the dark circles under her eyes, the deep lines that spread over her face, the grey tone of her pale skin.
So that’s why she didn’t have security. No reason to worry about dying when you were waiting for it.
“That would be too easy.” Hawks laughed and walked around Nakamura to stand behind her and press his hands against her shoulders in a mockery of a comforting gesture. His grip was too tight, his nails too sharp as they pressed against her skin, to be anything other than what it was. A promise of pain. “We have so much to show you. So much to talk about after all these years.”
Dabi was enraptured by the way Hawks’ nails slid through the cotton shirt and into Nakamura’s skin. It was so effortless. Like a hot knife through butter.
Blood trickled from the wounds, staining the blue material and making Dark Shadow growl from the corner where he had stationed himself.
At the sound, Nakamura turned to him, her eyes wide and terrified as they landed on what appeared to be a Shadow Demon transported straight out of a horror movie.
“We read Hikari’s file.” Dabi said to pull her attention away from Shadow. “And we had some thoughts.”
“Do you know what it feels like to be kept from your soulmate?” Hawks added as he bent down and whispered the words into Nakamura’s ear. “It’s like having a limb ripped off.” The alpha moved so quickly that Dabi couldn’t track it. One second, he was bent over, speaking to their captive, the next, he had one of her arms free of the ropes binding them, and had it extended out to the side. “But that’s going to cause too much blood loss this early on. And we can’t have that.”
A snap echoed around them as Hawks brought a knee up and slammed it into the back of Nakamura’s hyperextended elbow. She let out a blood curdling scream and Dabi watched as one of her bones tore through the skin of her arm, spraying blood across Hawks and the tiled floors.
Dark Shadow swooped in like a dog in a butcher shop, sprawling out along the floor so that the blood rained down on him. “Can I do the other one?” He asked and turned big eyes up to Hawks. “I won’t rip it off, I promise.”
“Not yet.” Hawks replied with a stroke down the quirk’s face. “We gotta make sure there’s lots of variety or it gets boring.”
“Oh fuck you both and your pet demon.”
Dark Shadow surged up off the floor until he was floating in front of Nakamura’s face. He’d gone from the cute “Fumi-look” to the spikey, demonic hell-version of Fumikage and even Dabi had to suppress the shiver of fear that snaked its way down his spine.
“I’m their mate. Not a pet.”
Nakamura opened her mouth, likely to spit out more panicked, pain-filled insults, and Dark Shadow struck out, reaching into her mouth and yanking her tongue straight out of her mouth with a wet ripping sound.
“Shadow!” Dabi abolished. “That’s going to bleed a lot and she’s going to pass out.”
“Sorry.” He dropped the tongue to the floor and hung his head down like a saddened toddler. “I let the rage control me.”
“We’ll work on it.” Hawks reached out and patted Shadow’s shoulder gently and lovingly. One could almost forget that there was a screaming, gurgling, gagging woman in between them. “It’s normal to get overeager your first time.” He flicked his eyes down to Nakamura and gripped the top of her head with one hand. “Right, sensei? I think that was in lesson one, somewhere.” He used his grip to shake her head side to side as she screamed.
“We’ll just have to expedite things.” Dabi agreed with a sad shake of his head. “But Fumikage might appreciate that anyway. We can go home and cuddle. Right baby?”
It took a second for Fumikage’s voice to holler back. “Right!”
“He’s listening to music.” Dark Shadow explained. “I had to relay.”
Ah. That made sense then.
Dabi crouched down in front of Nakamura and let the large knife he brought with him shine in the low light of the room as he twisted it back and forth. Her face was covered in blood, her eyes half lidded, even as the pupils constricted in terror.
“Not a lot horrifies me anymore.” Dabi said conversationally. The knife twisted and turned around in his hand as he fiddled with it. “But reading about how you authorized doctors to cut organs out of my mate…that’s next level villainy.”
She let out a horrified, panicked gurgle that amplified the moment Dabi stabbed the knife into her gut and tore it through her middle.
“Do you think it really matters if I get the right bits out?” He asked with a look up at Hawks’ flushed, blood splattered face. “I was never good at anatomy.”
“Nah, just pull something out. We’re not gonna get technical.”
Dabi plunged a hand into the opening he had made, uncaring for the pained gag the movement earned him. Maybe Dark Shadow had been onto something when he’d torn her tongue out. The lack of high pitched screaming was nice and apparently Shadow loved being sprayed with blood every time she tried.
Little freak.
He fucking loved him so much.
Intestines, blood, and chunks of fat dropped to the floor with squelches and plops and Dabi looked up to see Hawks give him a satisfied head nod to indicate that was good enough for him. “You wanna do the honors, birdie?”
“Gladly.” Hawks replied and with a flurry of feathers, he had the ropes completely free from around Nakamura’s limp body. She was barely conscious now, her eyelids fluttering and her body was supported by Hawks’ hands on her shoulders.
Dabi was always impressed when he saw the red feathers performing intricate maneuvers, but seeing them easily swing the rope up and over an exposed rafter and tie the perfect hangman’s noose on the end, was exceptional.
“Hey!” Dark Shadow growled and slapped a hand against the side of Nakamura’s bloody face. “No passing out. We’re almost done.”
She was definitely going out. The light was leaving her eyes, her skin becoming paler by the second.
“Up she goes.” Hawks said gleefully and reached under the woman’s armpits to lift her fully out of the chair. She was completely dead weight in the alpha’s hold, but Hawks might as well have been carrying around a toddler for all he appeared to struggle.
Dark Shadow helped to get the noose up and over her head and within a couple of seconds, she was hanging from the rafter, her toes just barely brushing the floor. The room went completely and utterly silent as they watched Nakamura flail a handful of times before going limp against the rope.
“That was anticlimactic."
“It usually is, Shadow. Preplanned death is never what you want it to be.” Dabi sighed. He reached out with one hand and pushed his quirk out, he’d been practicing with the little glimmer of power he could get out and now could manage a tiny, orange flame.
BIC lighters better watch out.
The flame caught on the cotton fabric of Nakamura’s clothing and engulfed her rather quickly, the scent of burning flesh a familiar, yet disgusting one.
“Are we done?” Fumikage asked as he stepped around the wall. “I can’t deal with the smell and I can’t plug my nose or I’ll literally die.”
Dabi glanced around at the blood splattered room and the burning body of the woman that killed a part of his soul. Then let his eyes drift over the portions that remained. His golden avenging angel, the unapologetically dark demon, and his gothic baby bird with the heart of gold.
“Yeah.” He told Fumikage softly. “We’re done. Let's get out of here.”
