Chapter Text
“You’re reentering Hogwarts in your sixth year as a student. Why do you think this would be a good idea for your education?”
A pair of hands folded themselves on top of the dark wooden desk in the high arched office with tall ceilings. The pair of hands belonged to the office’s owner, Headmistress McGonagall, the woman left in charge of Hogwarts, the most formidable magic school in the wizarding world. Yet, the woman had a worry in her voice as she spoke to the student sitting in front of her. But what student could bring such a powerful woman to this state?
“I have proven to be a formidable student in my homeschooling. My intellectual abilities are substantially above average. I am determined, quick witted, and willing. I believe Hogwarts is the best place to finish my education in order to pursue anything higher, whether it be schooling or career wise. You’ve had talks with my mother, she and my brother have vouched for me on many occasions. Not that it’s necessary. But I can assure you, something like the incident that brought this suspension upon me will ever occur again.”
Wednesday Addams, daughter of divination Professor Mortica Addams, was said student. She had recently been granted permission back on campus before the formal start of classes for the chance to appeal for her return towards a formal enrollment.
McGonagall had originally been fond of Wednesday in her early days as a student, in her first semester, she had proven to be an incredibly disciplined student who was passionate in learning all she could about the art of magic and wizardry. Even with her mother being a professor, she didn’t use this to give her an advantage in any way.
Which is why it came entirely out of left field when Wednesday was expelled from Hogwarts in her first year.
Wednesday placed a worn leather file filled with papers along with a clear bag containing a dark colored wand which had been previously snapped in half. Afterwards, she slid onto the desk another wand, made with a light colored wood that came from her own coat pocket.
“I give to you my file along with all the necessary documentation. As well as both of my wands, the one broken the day of expulsion and the approved training one I had been using at home for my studies. It’s here, without any way of conjuring magic, that I throw myself at your mercy, Headmistress.”
With that, the Addams bowed her head as she held her hands on her lap. McGonagall brought the items nearer, her hand dragging across the wand snapped in half through the bag. She remembers the day the wand was broken vividly, something she had no joy in doing whatsoever. Very few students have ever been fully expelled from Hogwarts, she had never been put in such a situation before where she had to personally break a student’s wand. And Wednesday’s original wand had been such a perfect fit for her. The whole predicament had been something she loathed to look back on.
Wednesday was escorted out of her office, being told to wait for McGonagall’s response on her fate until later in the day. And so, Wednesday waited. She sat down on the benches by the headmistress’s office, watching the movement below from above the staircase. Elves and faculty members were getting the school ready for the arrival of students in the coming few days.
It’s also here that she encountered someone coming up the stairs.
Wednesday gripped onto the fabric of her pants as she observed the girl making her way up towards the office. Blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, ending just above her shoulder blades. She was dressed in a red sweater and a skirt, a sweater she had seen before. Although it wasn’t as loose this time around. ‘She’s finally grown into it…but where are her glasses?’ Wednesday thought as she continued to observe. It wasn’t until she was about to reach the same level as Wednesday that she turned her head to see who was sitting on the bench.
She stopped in her tracks, her shoes that were clacking against the stone suddenly came to a screeching halt. The blonde gripped tighter onto the folder she was holding in her arms, trying to steady herself.
The look on her face was unreadable. Unbearably so.
But even so, the energy in the air around them had become electric. Wednesday could feel her heartbeat in her ears as heat rose up from the depths of her belly to her freckled cheeks. Her cardigan suddenly felt too hot to wear and her breath had become uneven as time went on. Every muscle was tense as her eyes continued to make contact with the blonde’s icy blue eyes.
The electricity was finally cut by the blonde showing an expression.
Wednesday had hoped for something different but she didn’t blame her for how she finally reacted. A sneer, aggressive in nature, spread across her features as she continued to lay her eyes on Wednesday. Her steps were heavy as she continued to walk up the stairs and towards the Headmistress’s office. She glanced one last time at her before entering the room, her bottom lip between her teeth.
Wednesday sighed deeply, letting out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She rolled her head back, trying to regain some control over her body temperature. ‘Was that a scar on her face? Her eyebrow had a slit. Since when does she not wear her glasses anymore?’ Wednesday mind raced as the questions filled her head. With nothing else to do, she stayed put, beginning to observe below once more once she had wiped the sweat away from her hands.
“Why do you wanna go back anyway? It’s not like you had friends or anyone to hold you back to Hogwarts.”
“Pugsley, you know nothing about my time at Hogwarts. Absolutely nothing.”
“Well what I do know is that it was Hogwarts that broke your wand in half and barred you from learning magic for months. It was Hogwarts that gave you those scars and painted you as a villain for the whole student body. I don’t understand why you’d want to go back.”
Wednesday shrugged her brother off as she continued to organize her documents in her file. The boy’s tone was filled with exasperation, his hands holding onto the back of her chair as he continued to pry.
“..Unless there is something.”
Wednesday tensed slightly, not daring to say a word. Pugsley moved from his spot behind her chair, ending up next to her as he leaned against the side of her desk. She avoided eye contact, unable to deal with the emotions that could arise.
“Is it Enid?”
When Enid stepped out of the office, Wednesday was staring right at her. When she closed the door behind her, she hesitated, not knowing whether to walk away or to speak. It’s here that Wednesday stood up from her seat and began to approach her.
“Stay away.”
She immediately stopped walking. Those were the first words Wednesday heard Enid say in years. It felt like something inside her began to crack at the tone in her voice. Spiteful, but curiously vulnerable. ‘Is she scared?’
“Enid. I see you’re doing alright.”
“No. You don’t ‘see’ anything. You don’t get to tell me that.”
Wednesday’s eyebrows furrowed, so much hostility came from her. It spilled out of her easily, almost like she had been keeping it all in. But instead of continuing, Wednesday decided it would be best to change the subject.
“Where are your glasses?”
“Why do you care?”
“..Do you not need them to see?”
“I don’t need them. They just get in the way when- wait, why am I telling you this? Why are you here?”
“I may be allowed to return to finish my education.”
Enid scoffed before she rolled her eyes and began to step towards the stairs once more. Wednesday stepped with her, trying to keep this risky, tense conversation going.
“You? Back at Hogwarts? That’s surprising after the stunt you pulled.”
Wednesday stopped waking once more. She balled one of her hands up in a fist, clenching her jaw. The anger that was bubbling up in her at that statement was made apparent to Enid who noted her reaction.
“Touched a nerve there.”
“You know exactly what happened.”
“Yes. And I know exactly who to blame.”
Enid made a couple steps towards Wednesday before pointing a finger at her, a vein popping in her neck as she spat out.
“You.”
At that, Enid turned around. Wednesday watched as she descended the staircase, unable to utter another word. Her shoulders fell, head hung slightly as she made her way back to her seat at the bench. ‘Who does she think she is?’ Wednesday didn’t dare to look at her once more.
That’s why she didn’t see the tears leaving Enid’s eyes as she traveled down the stairs.

“You are to return to Hogwarts under the condition that you are forbidden to enter the outer forest grounds. They are called the Forbidden Forest for a reason. You shall be under close supervision from staff and faculty. You will report to me at the end of every month for a behavioral evaluation. In terms of your dormitory arrangements, you shall be placed in the same dorm as the Slytherin prefect, Bianca Barclay who will report back to me with an inappropriate behavior. You shall be granted permission to acquire a new wand as well as your other school supplies.”
Headmistress McGonagall leaned forward, hands on her desk and a serious look in her eyes as she spoke to Wednesday. The girl had her hands folded on her lap as she hung onto every word, unable and unwilling to look away.
“You have been given a second chance, Wednesday Addams. Do not take it for granted.”
Wednesday looked down, releasing a breath she had caught in her chest. Her shoulders loosened up as she felt the faintest of smiles pull at the corners of her mouth. She sat up straight once she got herself together and nodded her head.
“Thank you, Headmistress. I will not disappoint you.
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳✧
Her first night back on campus officially with the rest of the student body went as smooth as one with a reputation as hers would think. The looks she would get as she walked down the halls, hands tucked into the pockets of her green lined Slytherin robes, one hand fiddling with something inside her pocket, were enough for her to send a sharp glare from under her fringe. It didn’t help that her younger brother, dressed in similar robes, albeit yellow lined Hufflepuff ones, was walking with her, a subject of ridicule ever since his first year at Hogwarts due to his affiliation with Wednesday. The two walked in tandem towards the great hall, stopping at the entrance at Pugsley’s request.
“Just…be careful, Wednesday. The students here can and will say some nasty things to you..”
Wednesday only sent him a nod before they split up, walking towards opposite sides of the large room. It was while she was walking towards the Slytherin table that she caught eyes with a familiar Gryffindor girl. Curled blonde hair bouncing on her shoulders as she laughed with a group of students around her by her house’s table, a boy’s arm around her shoulder as he held her close. Enid’s blue eyes bore into hers intensely as Wednesday continued to walk, eyes flickering from hers to the arm around her shoulder. Her mind raced with all sorts of questions before settling on one last one as she ripped her eyes away to continue her journey towards her side of the great hall, ‘I will break that boy’s arm if it’s the last thing that I do.’
“Wednesday Addams, my name is Bianca Barclay. I am one of Slytherin’s two prefects and will be supervising and rooming with you for your time back at Hogwarts. I understand your reputation precedes you, however, I aim to not dwell on it. I aim to build a partnership based on mutual respect and trust. If you let me do my job, I’ll let you do yours. Whatever it may be.”
Wednesday was left a bit stumped at the forwardness that met her as the prefect student sat her down and began to talk business immediately. She almost appreciated it more than beating around the bush and wanting to act nice to her or set a good example or impression. She folded her hands in her lap and sent her a nod.
“I understand. I’m familiar with what the headmistress expects of me. With these parameters, I believe we can work together. Even if I do prefer to work alone.”
The night went on, Wednesday stealing glances at Enid every once in a while from across the hall whenever she happened to find the opportunity. The first years had their sorting ceremony along with the introduction of the school staff. Wednesday found her mother smiling at her from the table at the front of the hall with the headmistress and professors, she would be making sure to keep a close eye on her as well.
It’s when she was walking out of the great hall with the Slytherin group that she had her first tiff. As she made her way towards the exit to follow Bianca, one of Enid’s “friends” found that Wednesday had gotten too close towards them, prompting a wave of sneers and comments from the group.
“Watch out, guys, the psycho’s gonna get you!”
“Who let that freak back in here, anyway?”
“I wonder if she’ll lead another wolf on campus this year!”
That last comment was enough to make Wednesday turn her head. She didn’t even use her energy to send a glare towards the students who had said the remarks, instead directing her attention towards Enid and that boy who was holding her hand at her side. The blonde glared back, eyes furrowed in a mix of confusion and worry. That’s when Wednesday read the situation and felt her eyes narrow even further, a knowing smirk pulling at her lips as she looked directly at Enid, a panic growing on her face at Wednesday’s reaction.
“That’s enough. I mean it, Gryffs.”
Bianca scolded with a sneer, prompting the group to step away at last as they exited the hall. Wednesday sighed, a slight pep in her step as she managed to get that reaction from Enid, she would absolutely savor this. The trip down towards the Slytherin common room was easy, few comments or glares were shared in her direction as the group got closer. The sight of the common room was a sight to see for Wednesday’s sore eyes, a pang of nostalgia hitting her as she observed the common room for any changes, finding very few.
Wednesday was appreciative at the fact her bed was up against a corner away from the others a bit. Her suitcases had been set up on her bed to be unpacked and an empty bird cage sat by her bedside table.
“I understand your raven was released?”
“Yes. She will act as my owl and will be staying in the tower with the others as a result.”
“Good to know. Well then, settle in. We start classes in the morning, check in with me before you leave. I have some directions from the headmistress to give you.”
Wednesday sent Bianca a nod before she spun on her heel, beginning to open up her suitcases and unpack her belongings. Before she removed her robes, she pulled out from her pocket what she had been playing with earlier. From her pocket came a new wand, a dark, almost pitch black wood with vine-like ridges lining two thirds of the wand, an intricately engraved handle for easier control at the bottom. Her original wand was perfect for her, bent to her will immediately and had only a few kinks to work out. This new one was aggressive, pure thestral tail hair at its core that was potent and almost uncontrollable to a new owner. Wednesday welcomed the challenge, knowing this wand was hers and hers alone even with the push and pull she had to endure to work with it. She became almost obsessed with the fight, using it everyday to practice with it, the feeling of the power it brought her and in turn the spells she would practice with it gradually increasing its power creating a strong bond between the two, slowly but surely.
That night, she closed the curtains around her bed, pulled the covers over her, and held her hands to her chest as she stared at the ceiling. The last thought in her mind before falling into the sweet embrace of sleep being the even sweeter sight of Enid’s panicked face pleading with her silently.

“Rules are simple, straight to class with no delays. Breaks and lunch are to be spent if not in the great hall, an open space where you can be easily seen. I’ll be escorting you from dinner straight towards the dorm, no exceptions. You may spend time at the library to study, like I said, any open spaces. I’ll let you know how the weekends will work once we get there. Rules are subject to change as a result of your behavioral evaluations with the headmistress.”
Bianca looked up from the paper in her hand and folded it, putting it back in her pocket before gesturing Wednesday towards the door and speaking up one last time.
“Long story short, just stick to the rules. Don’t make life hard for either of us.”
Wednesday’s walk through the halls of the castle to her first class was brisk, the morning air biting at her skin. She passed by the entrance to the great hall, catching sight of Enid playing around with her friends at the Gryffindor table once more. The sight of that boy holding her waist was enough to almost make her gag, ‘What a delightful little show she’s putting on.’
She opened the door to her first class, walking up towards the front of the class. The professor at the desk stood up, a wide grin on her face as she sighed and admired Wednesday’s attire.
“Mother, you’ve seen me in uniform before.”
“Oh, honey, I know but…it’s been so long! Green has always been your color.”
Morticia Addams, Hogwarts divination professor and simultaneously Wednesday’s mother, was where the Slytherin would start her school days. She settled in on a spot towards the front of class, avoiding eye contact with her mother as she adjusted herself.
“No breakfast this morning?”
“No. I am not hungry. Wanted to get a head start locating my classes.”
“Hmm…shame. I remember you always enjoyed breakfast here with your friend. Oh, what was her name? That blonde one…with glasses. Oh, she was adorable. Her name evades my mind, however.”
Wednesday looked up towards her mother, the woman making her way around her desk and toward Wednesday as she spoke. She knew exactly who she was talking about, an old memory prying itself into the forefront of her mind.
“Enid Sinclair.”
“Oh, yes! That’s right! Ha…she’s so different now, isn’t she? Has the whole of that house wrapped around her finger..”
Wednesday and Morticia shared a knowing look, unable to say what the two were thinking. Wednesday didn’t want to bring it up and Morticia didn’t want to bring her mood down so early in the morning. At that, a few students began to trickle in, breaking the sudden tense energy between the two.
As time went by, the tables filled up. The one seat left open being the one at her own table. That’s when a student came stumbling through the door, treading slowly and carefully towards the empty seat next to her, his face going a bit pale. Wednesday got a good look at him, dark curly hair, glasses, yellow lined robes, and a terrified look on his face. He sat down slowly, taking out his supplies and sitting up straight, gulping at the feeling of Wednesday’s eyes on him.
“What’s your name?”
“Oh! I’m…Eugene. Eugene Ottinger..”
“Wednesday Addams. It seems we’re partners for the year.”
Wednesday reached out her hand, his own shivering as he gripped onto hers, shaking their hands. Eugene finally looked up to face Wednesday, calming down a bit at the sight of no glare in her sharp eyes. He brought his hands back on his lap, speaking up a bit more confidently.
“Pugsley talks about you. I don’t believe the rumors, I mean, why would I? I was there, after all. I know you aren’t the psycho the school paints you to be.”
Wednesday thought for a bit, making him a bit nervous at the lack of a reaction. She knew he looked familiar, she just couldn’t put her finger on it until now. ‘It’s true…the poor kid that got hurt trying to pry me away along with that one fluffy haired Gryff..’ She sighed and nodded at him, a knowing look on her face as he returned the same nod wordlessly.
“My brother?”
“Yeah! We’re in the herbology club together, it’s how we met. It helps that we’re in the same house too.”
Wednesday hummed, leaning back in her chair and folding her hands in front of her. A smile threatening to appear on her face as she watched Eugene fix his glasses shyly. Pugsley had never mentioned him to her, it relieved her to know that her brother had a friend to talk to at the end of the day.
The rest of Wednesday’s first day went without any major hitches. When it came time for dinner, Wednesday found herself in the library. She had spent the end of her day here to reacquaint herself on the layout and locations of useful resources. She gathered her backpack from the table she was sitting at, heading towards the shelf where she originally took the book she was holding in her arm. This was where the first hitch of the day finally came.
It was on this path towards the bookshelf that she encountered Enid once more, leaning against a bookshelf in a secluded part of the library, arms crossed across her chest. The Slytherin stopped in her path, Enid’s head turned to look at her. She rolled her eyes before scoffing.
“Can’t believe they actually let you come back.”
“Enid. How wonderful. I could ask the same thing.”
Enid’s eyebrows furrowed, her eyes gleaming with rage as she stepped away from the large shelf. Her steps were heavy as she began to head closer to Wednesday, a hand balling up into a fist by her side.
“You keep your mouth shut.”
“You’ve been spreading lies about me. Haven’t you? About that night?”
“I said shut up.”
“I’m honestly quite flattered. I’ve been in your mind and on your tongue this whole time while I’ve been away.”
Wednesday began to walk forward, a dark energy around her that made Enid react by stepping back. Before she even knew it, her back was almost pressed against the shelf again as Wednesday continued to speak.
“Tell me, when you’re by yourself, do you think about me, Enid?”
“Shut up, you freak!”
“Do you think about me when you’re with that boy?”
“What..? I..”
“That lap dog you have wrapped around your finger every day. That’s quite the show you’re putting on. Who’s it for?”
Enid could only keep silent as Wednesday tilted her head, a smirk appearing on her face, eyes narrowed into slits as she stared into Enjd’s eyes. The intensity was enough to finally get Enid to press back onto the shelf, hands gripping onto the edge of her skirt. Wednesday continued to press forward, eventually ending up close enough where she could feel Enid’s body warmth. Enid looked down at her, holding her breath unknowingly as she tried to hold her ground. Wednesday tilted her head up, her smirk growing into an almost sadistic grin.
“Fuck off.”
“With pleasure, Sinclair..”
Wednesday turned around, dropping the book in her arm at Enid’s feet before walking away. Her hair almost hit her as she did so, knowing that Enid was sure to get a whiff of her scent. A low growl left the blonde as she bent down to pick up the book, a glare burning into the back of Wednesday’s head as she turned the corner to leave.
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳✧
Wednesday’s first month went by quickly with minimal problems. The only times she would ever be enraged or even thought about getting physical were the few interactions she shared with Enid. But they never bothered her too much, the same couldn’t be said for the Gryffindor, however. Every time they spoke, Enid looked more and more frustrated.
It brought a deep joy to Wednesday.
At the start of the new month, Wednesday caught word of the school quidditch teams holding tryouts. Warm memories of participating in quidditch in her first year at Hogwarts filled her mind as she thought about the possibility of playing on the field once more. The day of the tryouts came, and so, Wednesday got herself ready after her classes of the day and began her journey from the dorm to the field.
“Quidditch? Again, really?”
“The sport was crucial in my development as a first year. I enjoyed the feeling of participating in it. I was quite proficient in it too.”
“Wends, are you even sure McGonagall is gonna let you?”
“I don’t see why not?”
Wednesday fixed her bag on her shoulder as she walked down the halls, her brother at her side. He sighed, pressing on the bridge of her nose with his fingers as he tried to stop his sister from walking any further.
“Please, you could get hurt.”
“Why are you so adamant in stopping me?”
“I…the more attention on you, the more comments will be sent your way. The more people will look at you. The more people will look at…me…by association.”
Wednesday slowed down at that, turning to face Pugsley. She sighed and pressed a hand to his shoulder, lightly squeezing.
“You are weak. But I can assure you, I know what I’m doing. This will be a good thing. For both of us.”
Wednesday left him with a nod before turning on her heel and continuing on her path. Pugsley sighed, holding his hands to his stomach as he fidgeted in worry. After a few moments, he saw her take a turn and disappear from his view. That’s when he dropped his head and turned to go back to the Hufflepuff common room, Eugene was expecting him.
Wednesday found herself at the quidditch field just in time. The Gryffindor tryouts had just finished and it would soon be Slytherin’s turn on the pitch. During this adjustment, she found that the boy stuck by Enid’s side was on Gryffindor’s team. She held back a grin at the thought of playing a match against him, ‘I would ruin that boy for life.’ When she looked up into the bleachers from her spot by the field with the other potential players, she found Enid sitting with a smaller version of her usual friend group. The moment she saw Enid glance toward her, she snapped her head away, not letting her presence disrupt her moment of focus as she prepared for the tryouts ahead.
“Good afternoon, my name is Oliver Reed. I am Slytherin’s quidditch team captain and I, along with Coach Vlad, will be picking who of you will be on our team this school year. Let’s begin!”
The drills they prepared to warm up the candidates was standard, warm ups Wednesday had done in prior games. They were split into teams and smaller matches within the group where they could assess them more in depth. Wednesday waited for her turn on the field, gripping the broom they had lent her for tryouts as she observed.
Her team’s turn finally came and she quickly took on a leadership role, filling in any holes on their side or directing any of her teammates on where to head. The feeling of flying on a broomstick was something that she hadn’t felt in a long time. Yet, she was a natural, she quickly picked up the slack and moved about the field swiftly, getting the attention of the coach and captain as they observed her closely.
“We will pick a few of you to make up a team and continue the final round of tryouts. Whoever is not called is dismissed, we thank you for your effort and hope to see you again.”
The field began to clear out quite fast until it was her and the chosen few left. They were split up once more and made to compete against each other in a final match. Wednesday took on her role once more, even with the hesitant looks on her teammates faces. They followed her lead as they saw how she maneuvered her team earlier, they won their match easily.
She scored points at a rapid speed, her teammates were always there to fill any gaps and catch any passes. By the time the match had finished, her team had won by a landslide. When the captain ended the tryouts, he had them all meet up by the exit of the field.
“Thank you all for your hard work. The results will be posted by tomorrow evening. I look forward to working with the students we have chosen. You’re dismissed.”
As the group began to file out, the coach called Wednesday to stay behind. She obliged out of curiosity, giving her broom back to the captain and heading towards the coach.
“Our first practice is next week. I expect to see you there, Ms. Addams.”
“..Is this confirmation that I’ve made the team?”
“You’ve thoroughly impressed us this evening. We can’t pass up on talent this year, especially with your track record as a seeker your first year. It would be my pleasure to have you on our team.”
Coach Vlad held out his hand which Wednesday took without a second thought. An assuring nod headed her way from him as she pulled away. She turned her head to see the captain smiling at her as she began to walk away. She made sure to catch a glimpse of Enid up on the bleachers still, Ajax’s hand wrapped around her waist as she stared at Wednesday intensely. She sent her a wink before heading out of the field and towards the castle. It’s in this corridor that she was met with an unexpected voice.
“Nice to see you back on the pitch, Addams.”
Wednesday snapped her head to the side to find the source of the voice. A taller boy walked a bit faster to catch up to her, a red and gold scarf around his neck and a charming smile on his face. He reached out his hand in an attempt to introduce himself.
“Was watching from the bleachers. Tyler Galpin, Gryffindor team captain. I was…there that night.”
Wednesday’s eyes widened a bit as she cautiously shook his hand, her mind working to remember his face. ‘The fluffy haired Gryff boy..’ she recalled as she analyzed his features and continued to walk with him at her side.
“I remember playing against you for a couple matches back in your first year, my second. You were always insanely good. I’m glad to see you’re getting back into it.”
“Your attempt at flattery will get you nowhere, I have no allegiance on that field.”
“I understand, I really do. I was just hoping that you’d think of me as an ally off of it?.”
Wednesday stopped to turn and face him, he gulped a bit as she glared up at him through her fringe. He spoke up once again in a nervous tone, clearing his throat.
“I thought I’d show some solidarity, you know. Since…I know what happened and basically nobody here does. I know you’re not a villain or a psycho or whatever name they come up with. We don’t have to be friends, maybe just a friendly face?”
Wednesday hummed, leaning back a bit as she adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder. After a few moments she wordlessly sent him a nod which he returned with a smile.
“I look forward to seeing you around. And to play a match or two with you.”
“I’ll mop the floor with you, boy.”
“I expect nothing less!”
˚✧₊⁎⁺˳✧
October came and went. Halloween arrived quickly, along with Wednesday’s sixteenth birthday. While the school celebrated the holiday, a grand feast in the hall with clumsily homemade costumes, Wednesday celebrated her birthday in the courtyard along with her brother, Eugene, and Tyler who popped by for a little while. Her mother brought them a small cake that the boys devoured in half a second, much to Wednesday’s disgust who picked at her own slice gingerly.
“Your gesture is appreciated, even if I don’t enjoy the concept of a birthday.”
Once they had finished their mini celebration, the students went to join their classmates back inside the great hall for the feast. The night went on with the Slytherin’s trying to get her to join in on their Halloween party to be held later that night. She declined, giving the reason that she wanted to turn in early for the night due to quidditch practice the next morning. Bianca gave her the pass this night to not check in with her, she would be far too busy with the Halloween festivities. It filled Wednesday with a sudden feeling of excitement at the thought.
For the first time in weeks, Wednesday Addams could roam the campus without a supervisor.
She stepped out of the great hall along with the other students once they finished their dinner. Dodging comments and looks, she made her way towards the steps leading to the courtyard. Her eyes couldn’t help but to look up at the night sky, a full moon shining down on her as she let out a slight smile. ‘I should make a quick visit.’
Wednesday waited for the students to file out of the hall before she proceeded with her journey. Once the hallways were sparse and the coast was clear, she made the trek out beyond the courtyard and towards the forbidden forest. Her steps were light as she swiftly moved across the field leading to the tree line.
When she reached the outskirts of the forest, she watched as the wind blew the branches on the trees softly, unable to take another step forward. She tapped her foot on the ground as she fidgeted with the hem of her skirt, something in her system making her feel anxious, worried. Feelings she hadn’t felt in a very long time.
That’s when she decided to bite the bullet and head inside.
She kept her head on a swivel, staying alert to the noises and sights around her as she moved deeper and deeper into the forest. Her eyes landed on a familiar body of water, a small pond. A feeling of nostalgia hit her like a wave as she decided to make her way towards it, finding a seat on a log near the water.
But the sound of a thing snapping made her body shoot straight up. She looked around to try and find the source, her efforts unfruitful as she kept her hand on the handle of her wand. She sat back down cautiously, still staying alert as she settled into her spot on the log. That’s when the sound of a low growl was heard and a snout accompanied with glowing eyes slowly stalked out of the dense part of the forest and towards the pond.
However, this time, Wednesday didn’t flinch.
The wolf settled down on the opposite of the pond, eyes boring into Wednesday as the Slytherin placed her wand back in her pocket. She slid her robe off and got comfortable in her seat, a smile threatening to creep up on her face. The wolf kept its sharp eyes on her every move, unable to look away. Wednesday admired the way its hair moved about with each gust of soft wind that headed its way. She watched as the wolf leaned down to drink from the pond, laying down on the ground with its eyes fixated on Wednesday once it had finished. It was then that the Slytherin let out a smile, making the wolf react by grumbling, resting its head on its paws laid on the ground, and finally turning its gaze away. Wednesday spoke up, just loud enough where the wolf could hear her from its side of the pond.
“Good evening, Enid.”
