Chapter Text
A few days later, the group gathered in the penthouse.
Linda was sitting in an armchair feeding Charlie, Ella and Karissa were sitting on the couch talking, Chloe was sitting on the far end of the couch away from Ella and Karissa, looking through the case file while Maze was trying to have a conversation with her. Lucifer was at the bar preparing drinks for the others. Dan wasn’t there because Trixie was staying with him. Raphael was sitting on the piano bench, playing the piano with a distant look on his face, his finger moving almost absentmindedly.
After the conversation between Lucifer and Raphael, Lucifer had asked Amenadiel to go to Hell and get Azmodious, and Amenadiel had agreed. So here they were now, waiting for the Eldest to return with Azmodious.
Linda had noticed the tension between Lucifer and Chloe. After she’d finished feeding Charlie, she handed him to Ella and then dragged Lucifer into his bedroom over his protests that he hadn’t finished making the drinks.
“Lucifer, what’s going on with you and Chloe?” Linda asked, as she closed the door behind them.
“What are you talking about, doctor?” Lucifer responded.
Linda wasn’t going to let him off that easily. “You know what I’m talking about, I noticed the tension between you and Chloe, what happened?”
Lucifer sighed, and told her how Chloe was acting when they went to see Cynthia, and he told her about the conversation they had the next day.
“Maybe, she feels like you’re pulling away from her, and now that Karissa’s here, she might feel like you’re paying more attention to her and less to Chloe,” Linda suggested.
Lucifer sighed. “Is it wrong for me to notice Karissa? It’s not like I’m going to have sex with her.”
Linda nodded. “Maybe you should try to explain that to Chloe.”
“I did try to explain it to her, but then she stormed out!” Lucifer started pacing the room. “I’m also worried about Michael.”
In one of their previous sessions, Lucifer had explained to Linda about how Michael had cast him into hell, but he hadn’t gone into much detail.
“Didn’t you tell me that you hate Michael?” Linda asked.
“Of course I hate him, but that doesn’t mean I’m not worried about him,” Lucifer protested.
”Okay, that’s understandable. How about we talk about this during our next session?” Linda asked, and Lucifer nodded in agreement.

When Lucifer and Linda reentered the living room, they were caught off guard by discovering that Raphael had started singing. Lucifer sat down on a barstool while Linda sat back in her previous armchair, taking Charlie back from Ella.
Lucifer’s eyes turned to his little brother. Raphael was singing Forever and Always by Parashoot while his fingers moved gracefully across the piano keys. He still had the distant look on his face and his green eyes were staring into space.
As Raphael continued to sing, memories flashed through his mind. Working in his infirmary. A seraphim with black hair, piercing silver eyes and golden wings stepping into the infirmary with a broken wing. Raphael healing the wing, getting to know the seraphim better. Their friendship growing. The accidental kiss they’d shared. The seraphim avoiding Raphael for a few days. Their confessions of love. Their agreement to keep their relationship a secret. Lucifer and Michael finding out about their relationship when they caught them having sex.
As he plays, Raphael’s memories turn darker and he is flooded with sadness. Finding out that his love had joined Lucifer’s rebellion. Facing off against his love during the war. Casting his love out of heaven, just like Michael did to Lucifer.

As Amenadeel and Azmodious landed on the balcony of Lucifer’s penthouse, they could hear singing. The angel and demon approached the door and Azmodious froze at the unmistakable voice. Amenadeel and Azmodious stood in the balcony doorway to listen to Raphael sing the last part of the song.
Everyone could hear the raw emotions in Raphael’s voice.
“She finishes the vows but the beeps are getting too slow, his voice is almost too low. As he says I love you forever, forever and always, please just remember even if I’m not there. I’ll always love you forever and always.”

A single tear slips down Raphael’s cheek as he finishes the song. He could still remember the words Azmodiel had whispered to him before Raphael had cast him out of heaven. “Don’t forget me Raphael, I’ll always love you, forever and always.” Raphael’s heart aches at the memory.
Coming back to himself, Raphael looked up to see everyone staring at him.
“What?” he asked.
“You were singing,” Lucifer says.
“Oh. I didn’t realize,” Raphael says in surprise.
“That was beautiful,” Ella said. Karissa, Linda, Maze and even Chloe nodded in agreement.
“Thank you,” Raphael replied with a smile.
Lucifer finally took notice of the two standing by the balcony doorway. “Amenadiel, you’re back.”
Raphael followed Lucifer’s gaze towards the balcony and his green eyes went wide. Standing next to Amenadiel was Azmodious, his black hair and piercing silver eyes still the same from eons ago, though his hair was considerably shorter.
Raphael composed himself and forced a small smile on his face.
“Amenadiel, welcome back,” Raphael said, then he gave a hesitant nod in Azmodious’s direction.
“Hello, little healer,” Azmodious said.
“Azmodious, it’s, it’s nice to see you, and could you please not call me that?” Raphael stammered.
“I’m sorry.”
”It’s, it’s fine.”
Amenadiel gave a warm smile to his little brother and walked over to Linda and Charlie.
Lucifer beckoned Azmodious over to a bar stool. Azmodious sat down and gave a slight nod to Lucifer.
“Why am I here, my king?” Azmodious asked.
“I’m sure Amenadeel has filled you in about Michael’s disappearance,” Lucifer said. Azmodious nodded.
“We need your help to find him,” Lucifer continued.
”But you have Mazikeen, my king,” Asmodious said, confused.
“True, but we could use a second demon to help us look,” Lucifer told him.
Again, Azmodious nodded. “I’ll help you, my king.”
Lucifer shook his head at Azmodious. “Drop the formalities already, Azmodious.”
Azmodious gave Lucifer a slight smile. “Of course my, I mean, Lucifer.” Nothing about his smile revealed that he knew much more.
Amenadiel had told Azmodious about Michael’s plan as they were heading back to Earth. Azmodious had been hesitant at first—deceiving his king did not come easily—but had agreed to keep Michael’s secret.

As the sun set later that day, one by one, the group began to leave the penthouse. Karissa was the last one to leave and before she did, she gave Raphael a tight hug and whispered something to him. Lucifer didn’t hear what she whispered.
After Karissa left, Lucifer turned to face Raphael. “Are you ok?”
“I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Lucifer insisted.
Raphael gave his older brother a small smile. “I’ll be fine.”
Lucifer nodded doubtfully. “If you say so. You know, you could stay here since Beatrice is staying with Daniel for the weekend.”
Raphael nodded. “Thanks, Luci.”
Lucifer turned to Azmodious. “You will stay here too, of course, a guest room is ready for you.” He waves in the direction of the room. “Thank you for helping us.”
“Of course, you don’t have to thank me.” Azmodious turned and walked to his guest bedroom.
Lucifer turned back to Raphael. “Are you sure you’ll be fine? I could always send him back to Hell.”
“I’ll be fine,” Raphael reassured him. “After all, we do need him. He is one of the best demons to help us look for Michael besides Maze. With both of them helping us look for Michael, I’m sure we’ll find him.”
Lucifer nodded. “Okay,” he finally accepts Raphael’s reassurances.
Raphael smiled before giving Lucifer a quick hug and walking to his own guest room.
Lucifer sighed as he watched his little brother walk to his room. Now that Azmodious and Raphael were in the same place, he really hoped they would talk to each other and fix their relationship.
