Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
“I’ve never asked anything of you before, so please if you ever cared for me at all please help me, I know you work for the government so please” Ango froze, looking closely at Dazai, he’d never heard him this desperate, scared. It honestly unnerved him, what could make Dazai, the demon prodigy scared? He almost didn’t want to find out.
“What do you mean Dazai? I’m with the port mafia.”
“Oh cut the crap Ango, you know I’m not that stupid”
Ango sighed, “What is it that you would need help with?”
Dazai faltered for a moment, “I need you to help me get Oda and his pups out of the mafia and out of danger. And…” He trailed off, looking down at his hands, he said softly “and I need help getting my pups out as well.”
Ango was stunned, “Your pups?”
Dazai looked up from his hands, his eyes were slightly red, had he been crying?
“Yes. My pups, I presented as an omega” He looked back down.
Ango was stunned, “but.. But I thought you were a beta?”
“Everyone did, I presented late, really late. Mori always knew I was going to be an omega so I did everything in my power to hold off my presentation, and then when I finally did present, well, I had enough strong suppressants stored up to last me a couple years. I… I would never ask anything this big of you unless I knew it needed to happen and it does, badly. I don’t know what Mori is going to do when he finds out I presented without his knowledge.”
Ango sighed “I know Mori is strict but is it really going to be the end of the world if he finds out? I’m more concerned with the fact you already have pups at 17. Please tell me they at least are adopted?” He said, dropping his head into his hands.
After a moment of silence, Ango slowly lifted his head wondering if he made a mistake by saying that Dazai had become so quiet Ango wasn’t even sure he was still there. Looking at Dazai’s face, Ango started to worry “Dazai..?”
“You don’t get it” Dazai croaked out, voice cracking with emotion, whether it was anger, distress, or a mix of both, Ango wasn’t sure, Dazai’s face was completely blank.
“Dazai, what don’t I get?” After a beat of silence Ango softened and said “kid, what don’t I get? I can’t know if you don’t tell me”
Dazai hesitated, then clenched his fists and took a deep breath “I already have a mate.”
Ango quickly butted in, already starting to panic “Oh god was it consensual? Who is it? Is that why you-”
Dazai snapped “I wasn’t finished. Just..” He took a deep breath and unclenched his fists “that’s not the issue, it’s the fact that my mate isn’t Mori that is the issue”
Ango paled “Dazai, what is that supposed to mean..”
Dazai looked up, finally making eye contact with Ango, staring at him blankly “ever since I was 8 years old Mori told me the second I presented he would take me as his mate. He took me in when I was 7 to see if he could cause an omega to present feral.” Ango looked like he had seen a ghost but Dazai powered on, “I showed strong maternal instincts and omega traits even as a child. It didn’t take long for Mori to realize I was smart. Once he found out about my ability he decided he was going to keep me. He would keep trying to cause me to present feral, but also started raising me to be his mate. That’s why I need you to get Oda and the pups out, Mori is a madman with no respect for innocent life. He will kill all of them to punish me for not coming right to him when I presented.”
Ango was silent, trying to process everything Dazai had told him, trying to figure out what part of that he needed to address first, he hesitated a moment more before saying “Dazai, what did he do to you, there’s only been a couple documented cases of feral omegas.. Ever. And all of them were caused by extreme isolation, torture, and child loss.”
Dazai’s mask wavered, only for a moment, but Ango could see Dazai was crumbling “Before.. Before a male omega presents, the male omega’s sperm is viable, it only becomes sterile after presentation, so theoretically an unpresented male omega could father a child.”
Ango closed his eyes tightly, feeling his heart breaking for this kid, “Dazai, please tell me what I’m thinking isn’t true.”
Dazai paused for a moment, gathering his strength once more, “I can’t because it wouldn’t be true. From the ages of 8 to 13 Mori would.. molest me and used my sperm to impregnate surrogates every three months. He found out that at three months old he could test if a child has an ability. Q is my biological child. Q’s nickname is Q because he didn’t have a real name until he was three months old. I called him Q because he was the 17th child Mori made me father. The reason he didn’t have a name until he was three months old was because if the child didn’t have an ability Mori would kill them. Q was the only child out of the 20 children Mori made me father that had an ability. The rest of them are dead.”
Ango made a noise as though he had been punched, he was only a beta but the thought of losing all those children sounded unbearable to him, he couldn’t even imagine the pain Dazai was in, Ango didn’t need to hear anything else, he knew what had to be done.
“Okay.” Dazai looked at Ango, startled, “okay..?”
Ango looked Dazai in the eyes, “I’ll do it, I’ll get Oda, his pups, and your pups out.”
Dazai let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in, “Thank you Ango. That means a lot to me. I’ll make sure to keep Mori distracted when the time comes, as long as they’re safe nothing else matters.”
Ango, with newfound confidence stated, “No.” Dazai looked at him, ”no? What do you mean no?”
“When I said I’ll get Oda’s pups out I meant ALL of them.”
Dazai searched Ango’s gaze, confused, “..yeah all of them, kyouka and his 5 orphans.”
Ango softened “Dazai, you’re his pup too.” Dazai looked startled, “I’m going to make sure ALL of Oda’s pup’s get out, that includes you kid.”
Dazai opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water, Ango wondered absentmindedly if that was where the redheaded executive got the nickname mackerel, could he be Dazai’s mate? Ango filed the thought away for later, now's not the time.
Ango continued on “Dazai, you’re a victim. You deserve to have a life away from that man, a life where you can be happy and live with your pups without fear that Mori is going to take that away from you. Please let me help you get out of here. I guarantee I will be able to get you and the rest of the pups full pardon for any crimes committed. I know the director of the Special Division for Unusual Powers personally and he has no tolerance for taking away anyone’s autonomy, especially omegas. Please, just let me help you, Oda cares about you so much kid, hell I’m a beta and I still consider you my pup, so please I can’t help you unless you let me.”
Dazai stood frozen in shock, contemplating everything Ango just said. “I.. I don’t understand”
“You don’t have to understand, you don’t have to believe me that we care about you but please just let me help you anyways.”
Dazai faltered for a moment, then his resolve crumbled, “Okay, I’ll let you help me.”
Ango smiled softly, "Thank you Dazai."
The edge of Dazai's mouth formed a small smile before he quickly put back on his mask, "okay what's the plan, how are we going to get everyone out safely?"
Ango replied, "well first, you're going to have to tell me about your other pups, earlier you said pups plural but only mentioned one."
Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Summary:
Dazai's conversation with Ango continued
Notes:
there is no shot I'm referring to Ryunosuke by his full name because I will spell it wrong every single time, he's going to be referred to as Ryu and him and Gin will be aged down, I'm not too sure how old they are supposed to be but in this Ryu is 12 when Dazai takes him in and Gin is 10
Also for this AU typically alphas and omegas don’t have as much of a need to listen to their instincts, and heats and ruts are typically pretty tame. But for feral alphas/omegas following instincts is like breathing, they have to do it to survive. This is one of the reasons Mori wanted to be able to have Dazai feral so if he mated him his instincts would override a lot of his logic, just figured I would explain that cuz I don’t think I ended up touching on that and I think the context is important but idk lol

Chapter Text
Dazai brightened slightly, “I have three more pups, Elise and the Akutagawa siblings.”
“Wait, the boss’s ability?” Ango asked, raising a brow, “How does that work?”
Dazai scrunched his nose, “Well she’s not exactly an ability anymore? I’m not totally sure how it happened but I believe that since Mori was attracted to the idea of having children with strong abilities, Elise developed her own ability and since abilities are tied to the soul she now has a soul and became her own person separate from Mori’s ability. During the time Mori kept me isolated he allowed Elise to keep me company occasionally and I ended up forming a pup bond with her. She’s just been pretending to still be under his control until I could find a way to get her out.”
Ango couldn’t believe what he was hearing, Elise somehow developed a soul? That was completely unheard of, he wanted to know more but knew now wasn’t the time to pry, he just needed basics to start planning how to get these kids out of the mafia safely.
“Okay, and the Akutagawas? How did you end up with them as pups?”
Dazai rubbed the back of his neck looking almost.. Sheepish?
“Well.. that’s a bit more of an embarrassing story, turns out there was an unintended consequence that Mori didn’t account for by having me form pup bonds with all my children, it made it so I kind of form pup bonds on sight with pups that don’t have any parental bonds..? I guess that happens when everytime you hand a kid a baby for five years it’s actually their baby..”
He trailed off, pausing for a moment before shaking his head and continuing on,
“Mori doesn’t know I have a pup bond with Gin either, since she doesn’t have an ability the part of my instincts that were already starting to develop screamed that if I brought a child without an ability to Mori he would kill it, so I hid her to train with Veraline and pretended like she wasn’t there when I found Ryu and so I only bonded with him and he went with the black lizards to collect her on a later date.”
Dazai continued on, nervously shifting on his feet, “Mori ended up being.. Conflicted on the matter of me presenting Ryu to him, on one hand to him it was a good sign that my instincts were trained well enough that I brought Ryu to Mori without really even thinking about it, on the other hand Mori didn’t want me to bond with just any child with an ability since that would be bad news for him if I became very protective over a bunch of strong children.. so he decided to force me to train Ryu and made sure I knew that if I wasn’t brutal Mori would hurt him so much worse. I can’t even imagine how poor Ryu feels..”
Dazai sighed, once again focusing his gaze on his hands, picking at his bandages slightly.
“I know Ryu can feel a parental bond with me but I don’t think he knows what it is, his instincts are screaming at him that I’m someone who is supposed to be safe and provide comfort but all I’ve done is hurt him.. I don’t know how I’ll ever make it up to him.”
Ango didn’t know what to say to that, how can he comfort his this kid, He doesn’t know much about the Akutagawa boy but he’s heard rumors of him being vengeful and violent, then again they say the same things about Dazai and he’s still just child, they both are. He doesn’t know how to fix this, he desperately wants to make everything okay for his hurting pup Dazai.
Ango gathered his thoughts for a moment before speaking softly,
“It’s going to be hard, all you can really do is explain and apologize, then do everything you can to become a good parent to your pup, show him how much you care about him and make sure he knows that he has always been loved, that’s all you really can do. But I know you can do it because I can already see how much you care for your pups. You’re already doing everything in your power to keep them safe and I know you will keep doing everything in your power to keep them safe.”
Dazai looked at Ango once more, eyes shining with unshed tears, “thank you Ango, I think I needed to hear that.”
After a moment Ango started again, “I really don’t want to ruin the mood but you didn’t mention anything about your mate, I know you were panicked about Mori so you kind of skipped past it, but.. was it consensual? Should I start adding another person to the plans?”
Dazai sobered up a bit, voice shaking slightly he started,
“kind of? I mean I really don’t regret it but, um it’s Chuuya, I was at his apartment after a mission to take a shower and get cleaned up and we, um- he presented and my, uh- I had been holding off my presentation for so long that when he presented my omega felt safe enough that I kind of started presenting too? Which in turn triggered his rut which then triggered my heat and then the next thing we knew we were both freshly presented and freshly mated all at the same time. He doesn’t know anything about Mori, I begged him not to tell anyone I was an omega and I think he thinks it’s because I’m afraid that my grunts will stop respecting me but he trusts me enough that he just did it without even asking why. And I- uh I don’t know, how can I ask him to leave the mafia when I was the one who dragged him here and now he has people that he cares about here? I don’t know if I can do that to him again.. I don’t even know for sure if he would leave if I asked him too..”
Dazai trailed off for a moment, halting his rambling and thinking of what to say next,
“I- I’ll ask him to leave with us when we’re about to go. I can’t risk the pups getting hurt because even though I know Chuuya wouldn’t snitch, Mori would know if he’s lying and I just can’t risk it, the pups have to come first.”
Ango sighed, he could see how much Dazai cared for Chuuya and the thought of him not agreeing to go with hurts him, but he’s right they can’t risk the pups safety by letting him in on the plan too early.
“I’m glad your mate is someone you care about at least, that’s all I could hope for.. Now, do you want to tell Oda? He’s going to need to know everything you just told me, you’re his pup he should know what you’ve gone though, if it’s too difficult to go through telling someone again I could tell him for you.”
“I think I’d like it if you told him but I want to be there too, then I can answer any more questions and fill in any details you might miss while not having to retell the whole thing again.. And Ango?”
“Yeah kid?”
“Thank you.”
Ango reaches out and ruffles Dazai’s hair, “It’s no problem kid, you deserve to be happy, I know you don’t believe it right now but Oda and I will do our best to show you that.”
Notes:
The pacing in this is going to be so slow, this is a pretty self indulgent fic so I’m probs going to draw it out a lot haha
Starting this fic out I’ll probably update the first couple of chapters pretty quick since I’m on spring break rn but it’ll probably slow down to once or twice a week once classes start back up
Again let me know if there’s any tags I’m missing!

The talk part 2, Oda edition

Chapter Text
Oda sat across from Ango and Dazai, feeling weary, they specifically asked to meet at his home rather than Lupin, that was Oda’s first red flag.
He was used to Ango being serious but he also had an underlying anxiety that Oda didn’t understand, that raised another red flag but both those combined aren’t too much to worry about.
What he really wasn’t used to was seeing his pup so nervous and fidgety, almost like he’s ready to run at any moment, this is what made him so weary of whatever this conversation entailed.
Oda is terrified at whatever caused two of the most important people in his life to act so out of character.
Oda started speaking slowly, sensing the tense mood, “So what’s so urgent we had to meet up as soon as possible?”
He saw Dazai tense at the question before Ango hesitantly spoke up, speaking slowly and drawing out his words a bit, almost as though he’s preparing to deliver bad news, Oda already doesn’t like where this is going,
“Dazai called me this morning asking to talk in person, said he had a favor to ask of me.. We had a long conversation and he talked to me about some stuff that’s been going on that we didn’t know about and he asked me to help tell you what’s been happening.”
Oda’s heart dropped, what could be bad enough that they’re acting this way, even if it’s a facade Dazai’s always seeming confident and in control and Ango usually is serious and harsh, now he’s still serious but also.. Soft? Almost like he’s trying to shield the pup from something.
Oda spoke up softly as to try to not startle the pup more, “Something we didn’t know about? Is.. is everything okay?”
Dazai somehow shrunk into himself more, Oda didn’t think he’s ever been this worried about the pup.
Ango took a deep breath before speaking with a level voice, “I don’t think there’s any good way to say this but no, nothing is okay, we-” Ango cut himself off, trying to compose himself before swallowing his guilt and continuing on “We missed a lot that was happening with Dazai. Since before we even met him Mori has been horrifically abusing him.”
Oda felt the world stop, his pup.. being abused? Without him even knowing? Oda felt as though he failed his child, didn’t do anything to keep him safe, how did he not notice?
Oda snapped out of his spiraling thoughts when he saw Dazai sitting up straight and starting to speak with a startlingly calm voice, “I can practically see the guilt oozing off of the both of you, it’s stupid of you to feel guilty." Dazai stated harshly, "There is no way you would've known. I made sure there was no way for you to know. I’ve spent over half my life learning how to lie to Mori and he’s the most manipulative monster I know. If I can lie to him and get away with it, there was never a chance for you to have ever caught my lies. Even if there were small signs it’s the mafia for christ’s sake, everyone is at least a little fucked up. So please don’t feel guilty, I trusted you both enough to tell you so just- just focus on that.. Please.”
It was silent for a moment before Dazai spoke up again, much quieter this time, “I actually don’t think I want to be here for the details anymore, I’m going to go hang out with Oda’s pups.. Ango can- can you tell him what I told you without me?”
Ango smiled slightly before replying, “yeah don’t worry kiddo I can handle it.”
Dazai got up and started to walk away, before he could Oda quickly grabbed his wrist, holding it lightly so as to not hurt or startle him, “Dazai wait a moment.”
Dazai hesitantly turned to look at Oda, who smiled softly, “I just wanted to let you know I’m very proud of you. I don’t know what Ango is going to tell me but I wanted to make sure you know that no matter what I will always, always love you and I won’t think anything less of you for what you’ve gone through. You’re my pup and there is nothing in this world that could ever make me no longer proud to call you my pup.”
Dazai stared slack jawed at Oda, his visible eye swelling with unshed tears, Oda softly spoke up again, “Can I give you a hug, pup?”
Dazai blinked, trying to rid of his tears before nodding jerkily, Oda slowly pulled him into a hug, cradling the pup in his arms.
It didn't take long for Dazai to finally break down, the unshed tears turning into a steady stream as the boy sobbed for the first time in years, breaking down in the arms of his omega parent.
They stayed like that for a long while, Oda gently rocking his pup as Dazai cried, finally allowing himself to feel the years of grief while he was safe in Oda’s arms.
Dazai slowly pulled away after he finished crying, before he could say anything Oda quickly added, “If you ever need a hug, just ask. I can always make time to hug my pup.”
Dazai gave him a watery smile before composing himself slightly, “okay, I think I’m going to go see the pups now, will you come get me when you’re done?”
“Of course Dazai, as soon as I’m done filling Oda in we’ll come get you so we can finish planning okay?”
Dazai gave him a small nod before turning around and walking out of the room.
Ango waited a moment, making sure Dazai was out of earshot before he started speaking, voice barely a whisper, “Oda.. it’s so bad, I don’t know how we’re ever going to make this okay. He’s so strong, so so strong. I don’t know how he’s still alive.”
Oda felt his heart clench at that statement.
“Ango, please stop being so vague, the suspense is killing me, please tell me what happened to our pup, I need to know.”
Ango paused for a moment before speaking once more, “I think the best place to start is my saying he’s not a beta, never has been, just presented really late. He’s not just an omega either, since the moment he’s presented he’s been feral.”
Oda paled at Ango’s words, “Feral? I thought that was just a myth…”
Ango took a deep, steadying breath, “It’s not, there’s only been a couple documented cases and they’ve all been gruesome, extreme isolation, mass murder of children, and horrific torture in combination. Most of the time omegas die or take their own lives before it gets to the point of becoming feral, for Dazai to have presented feral.. There’s definitely more to it than he’s told me but we're going to have to wait until he’s ready to tell us. Until then I’ll fill you in on what he has told me and we can go from there.”
“Okay… I already know this is going to be horrific so please just rip the band aid off, say it as quick and concise as possible.”
Ango took a small breath and started, “Dazai was picked up off the streets at the age of 7. Mori saw Dazai already had strong maternal instincts at that age and the sick bastard decided he wanted to try and cause an omega to present feral. Dazai said that that’s all it was supposed to be at first but when Mori realized he was smart and had an ability he decided that it was going to be more than that. God Oda, Mori wanted to mate our pup, the only reason it didn’t happen is because Dazai and Chuuya presented at the same time and mated right when they presented. I don’t even want to think about what would’ve happened if Dazai presented any other time..”
Ango trailed off for a moment, getting lost in thought before shaking his head and continuing,
“The worst part is probably the pups, god he looked heartbroken when he told me about them.. He.. Mori made him father via surrogacy, 20 children before he presented, one after the other from the time he was 8 to 13. Only one of them is still alive. Mori killed the rest… I can’t even imagine the pain he felt, when the baby was three months old, if it didn’t have an ability Mori would murder the child and then without giving Dazai any time to grieve he would be handed another newborn to start the cycle again.. It finally slowed to a stop after Q was born, Mori finally managed to get a child with an ability out of Dazai and so the torture finally stopped.”
Oda didn’t know when he started crying, the thought of losing any of his pups sounded worse than losing a limb, he doesn’t know how his pup has been able to go on, living though all that pain, but then he realized,
“Mori didn’t give him time without a pup for a reason, I can’t imagine how horrible the pain of losing a pup is but it’s even harder to imagine leaving a pup behind in an environment like that… Mori planned it like that to make sure Dazai wasn’t going to kill himself, because he always had a pup he needed to protect…”
Ango’s gaze hardened in determination, “I’m a spy for the government, Dazai knew, that’s why he came to me. He asked to get you, your and his pups out of the mafia, he didn’t even ask for himself. I had to convince him that he was allowed to leave to find his own happiness.”
“I’ve already contacted Chief Taneda and he’s getting a safe location prepared for us and is working on getting you and Dazai positions in an organization that would be able to protect you, It’s going to be at least a year before either of your records are cleared so we’ll have to stay low until that can happen. “
“What we need to do now is get your youngest 5 to the safehouse so they’re ready for when we get the rest of the pups, and potentially Dazai’s mate out so we can make a clean getaway. We’re going to have to get everyone out in around an hour on the day after tomorrow. Mori will be in an important meeting in another town and Kouyou will be tending to one of the brothels, leaving Kyouka with Veraline.”
“You will go collect Gin and Kyouka since they will both be with Veraline, if you say Dazai needs them he won’t question it, I’ll go with Dazai to get Q, Elise and Ryuu. At that point I’ll take the pups and get to the car while Dazai continues on to try and convince Chuuya to leave.”
“We should be able to be in and out in under an hour, leaving plenty of time to pick up the rest of your pups from the safehouse and then continue to the next location Chief Taneda provides.”
Oda nods, determined to do whatever it takes to keep these pups safe, “Okay let's go take the pups and then go over back up plans with Dazai in case anything goes wrong. I can’t let anything happen to these pups so this is going to be the most prepared any of us will ever be in our entire lives.”
Notes:

The great escape part 1

Chapter Text
Mori and Kouyou both are going to be in another city for meetings for just over an hour of overlapping time, Kouyou is due to return first, around 15 minutes before Mori.
The trio decided this was the best time to execute their plan.
Dazai along with Ango and Oda stood around the van they planned to use to make their escape, discussing the details of the plan once more before splitting up, Oda going to collect Kyouka and Gin, while Ango and Dazai go for Ryuu, Q, Elise, and hopefully Chuuya.
Since Ango and Dazai had more ground to cover they went first to not draw as much attention, Oda giving them a small smile to reassure them before they disappeared into the port mafia tower.
Oda waited five more minutes before heading into the building as well, heading for the basement while the others were heading for the upper floors.
While it was longer to take the stairs it made it significantly less likely he would be spotted, he also had to stall for time since there is only so much time you can linger in a van outside the port mafia building without being questioned.
Once he reached the basement he kept a steady pace heading toward the training room where his and Dazai’s pups should be doing some unsupervised training together. On the off chance he runs into Veraline, Dazai informed him to tell him that he has come to collect his and Dazai’s pups. Dazai said Veraline is smart, that little bit of info should tell him all that he needs to know and he should back off.
According to Dazai, Veraline is a feral alpha, which is slightly more common than a feral omega but he and Dazai seem to have an understanding due to their shared life experience.
Walking into the training room Oda sees the two girls training together, combat skills far more advanced than any child at their age should have to know.
Kyouka turns to see Oda walking in, visibly brightening.
After Kyouka had been taken in by Kouyou he had met the nice man and formed a parental bond with him, because of all her training she hadn’t gotten to see him very much so she turned from Gin, running to give Oda a hug.
Gin was much more cautious. Kyouka spoke highly of Oda but Dazai made sure she knew to always be wary of others even if they are trusted by someone you know.
After letting go of Kyouka Oda slowly approached Gin, who was still standing in a slightly defensive stance, he gave her a small smile before speaking,
“Hello Gin, it’s nice to meet you. Dazai sent me to come pick up you and Kyouka so we can go somewhere new.”
Gin was still weary of this new man
“Why wouldn’t Dazai-san come and pick me up himself if you really are telling the truth?”
Gin shifted slightly, hand hovering above the handle of her knife.
“He wanted to be able to pick you up himself but we have very little time so Dazai had to go pick up Ryuu, Q, and Elise and so he trusted me with picking you up.”
Gin perked up at the mention of her brother, but after pondering the words was left with more questions.
“Very little time? Why do we have to rush so much?”
Oda kneeled down in front of the girl, speaking quietly, just loud enough that she could hear him,
“We have to go quickly because we have to run away before Mori returns from a meeting and catches us.”
Gin’s eyes widened, head scanning the room quickly before looking Oda up and down before looking at the ground and speaking, meek voice barely a whisper,
“...are you going to save mama from the bad man?”
Oda’s eyes slightly widened in surprise, not expecting the girl to refer to his pup as mama, Oda didn’t even realise Gin knew she had a parental bond with Dazai, he quickly composed himself, not letting his shock show for very long.
“Yeah, I’m going to keep him safe. I won’t let the bad man hurt your mama again.”
Oda outstretched his hand, wordlessly offering the girl to take it.
Gin started at it for a moment, hesitating before her gaze hardened in determination, she gripped his hand tight and said in a steady voice,
“You better keep my mama safe, if you ever hurt him I’ll kill you myself.”
Oda shivered at the girls harsh tone,
“I promise, I would never, ever hurt Dazai. After all, he is my pup.”
Gin searched Oda’s eyes, seeing if there was any indication he was lying. Not finding anything she nodded.
“Good, now let's go, you said we need to hurry right?”
Oda smiled and nodded, standing back up,
“Alright let’s go.”
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
“Okay we’ll go to the upper floors to collect Elise and Q first then head to the lower ones to get Ryuu. After that point I’ll send you back to the car to meet up with Oda while I go try and get the chibi.”
Heading up in the elevator gave Dazai time to think, he thought of all the ways his plan could go wrong, how one little thing going wrong could cost his pups their lives. He felt- anxious..
No. He shook his head. He couldn’t afford to be anxious, anxiety makes mistakes and with his pups on the line? He couldn’t afford mistakes.
As the doors slide open Dazai and Ango wander into the empty hallway, making their way to Mori’s office where Elise and Q will be.
Mori lets Q stay with Elise anytime he’s out of the tower, he thinks Elise is keeping an eye on Q for him while he’s gone, but in reality it’s for Dazai’s peace of mind.
Knowing his pups are both away from Mori and safe together.
Opening the door to the office two small heads shoot up, quickly looking at the door in fear, as soon as they see who it is though Q and Elise perk up. Q jumps to their feet and runs to Dazai.
“MAMA!”
Q jumps into Dazai’s arms, almost knocking him over, snuggling in close.
Elise waits a moment, seeing Ango with Dazai and realizing the implications, her eyes widened.
“Wait, isn't that the government spy? Does this mean- are we getting out?”
Dazai shifts Q over onto one hip, still holding them close, leaving an arm open for Elise.
“Yes princess, we’re finally getting out.”
Elise’s eyes started to tear up, she ran into Dazai’s open arm and he hoisted her up, holding his pups close.
Ango stayed quiet, watching Dazai with his pups, not wanting to intrude on the moment.
Dazai allowed himself a moment with his children, content to hold them close, making sure they got the love they deserve, just in case anything went wrong.
“Okay we have to get moving now, we don’t have a lot of time left before Mori gets back and we still have to pick up Ryuu. And- and maybe Chuuya.”
Elise narrowed her eyes.
“Why maybe Chuuya?”
Dazai sighed, knowing his pup would push until she got her answer.
“Because I don’t know if he’s going to leave when I ask.”
Elise huffed.
“Well he better, I want a papa.”
She said it so matter of factly it left Dazai stunned, jaw falling open and face slowly turning crimson.
Ango chuckled at the kids antics before speaking,
“I’m sorry to break this up but we really do have to get going.”
Dazai nodded, handing Q over to Ango. Dazai’s pretty strong but he can’t easily carry both pups for long periods of time.
Dazai opened the door and froze, coming face to face with a certain mafioso.
He held Elise close, taking a defensive posture.
“Hirotsu.”
Dazai felt like he was about to puke, this can’t be happening, Hirotsu wasn’t supposed to be working today.
Hirotsu looked at Dazai and Ango in surprise, both holding children and slowly started putting the pieces together.
The defense posture Dazai held, the two pups, the agent he was sure is a spy, and the bad feeling he got whenever he saw the boss and Dazai together.
Hirotsu felt the pieces fall into place after years of willful ignorance.
He felt determination, he knew what he had to do, he started looking around the room in a theatrical manner.
“Did I hear something? Because I don’t recall seeing anyone anywhere near the boss’s office.”
He looked at Dazai and winked, before reaching into his coat and pulling out a small object.
“Here this is for you.”
He handed the small rectangle to Dazai, who turned it over in his hand to get a better look at it.
“A lighter?”
Dazai looked mildly confused, why is Hirotsu acting like nothings wrong? Isn’t he going to call backup to apprehend them for defecting?
Hirotsu smiled slightly,
“It’s my good luck charm, the least I can do for you since I didn’t notice what was happening behind closed doors.”
He turned and started walking in the other direction, farther down the hall before stopping for a moment.
“I’m proud of you Dazai, I hope you find the life you deserve.”
With that he rounded the corner and continued on as if nothing happened.
Dazai and Ango were left in stunned silence for a moment, before Ango managed to gain his composure.
“Come on Dazai, It looks like he’s going to keep quiet but we’re running out of time. We have to keep moving.”
It took Dazai a moment before he registered what Ango said, he nodded shakily,
“Yeah- yeah let’s keep moving.”
Notes:
Next chapter will be Ryuu and Chuuya!
I had to add a little scene with Hirotsu because I absolutely adore him, he’s Dazai’s grandad and I will take no objections on that, in all reality though I love his character so much and this is probs the only time I was going to wedge him into the story lol
Hope you enjoyed!

Chapter Text
Q and Elise both fell fast asleep fairly quickly, the rhythmic movement of walking, the comfort of being held, and the feeling of their parental omega nearby and safe lulled them into a restful sleep.
Dazai and Ango took the stairs down a floor, heading to the room Dazai uses as an office, having told Ryuu to meet him there the day before
Dazai can’t help but be nervous, this is his child, the child he had to hurt to keep out of Mori’s poisoned grip, the child he had to scold and belittle, all to keep him safe.
He just hopes he’ll be able to make it up to his pup and will be given a chance to be a good parent.
He opened the door quietly, revealing the thin child, who once realizing he was no longer alone jumped up and stood at attention.
The boy looked at his mama mentor, who was holding.. the boss’s ability? Who was cuddled fast asleep in Dazai’s arms. Ryuu felt mild confusion and something else he couldn’t name… jealousy.
He shook off the feeling and stood up straighter.
“Ryuunosuke Akutagawa reporting for duty.”
Dazai’s eyes softened with something akin to pity? Is his mentor pitying him?
The thought made Ryuu mad,
and a little nervous.
If he’s being pitied he’s being seen as weak.. He can’t afford to be seen as weak.
“I don’t mean to sound presumptuous but what is the reason for my summoning?”
Dazai readjusted the sleeping Elise, supporting her head as he handed her over to Ango, who stepped into the hallway to keep watch after taking the pup.
Dazai walked slowly, going to stand in front of the small boy who became stiffer with each step taken towards him.
He reached out, gently putting a hand in the pup’s hair before pulling him into a hug.
Ryuu was stunned, he didn’t know what was happening, what had he done to deserve this affection?
“I- I don’t understand.?”
Dazai took a shuddering breath, holding back tears.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to understand yet, I don’t have enough time to truly explain everything, but I need you to know that I love you so so much. You’re my pup and I never ever wanted to hurt you but I did to keep you away from Mori. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for how I treated you. You never deserved to be hurt or belittled.”
Ryuu buried his head into Dazai’s chest and broke into sobs, not able to handle the wave of emotion caused by being recognized by his mentor.
Dazai gently picks up the sobbing boy, walking towards the door. He wishes he could’ve had more time to comfort his pup but they’re running out of time.
Ango started walking first, leading them back to the elevator.
They only have about 10 minutes until Kouyou gets back and 25 until Mori returns. They have to hurry if Dazai is going to have any time to try and collect Chuuya.
As they approached the elevator the boy’s sobs had calmed down, and Dazai gently lowed the boy to the ground, speaking softly,
“I’m sorry to part with you so soon but I need you to go with Ango to the getaway car. Gin should already be there with a good friend of mine. If I’m not out before it’s time for Mori to return, you are going to get a head start without me, okay? I promise if it comes to that I will meet you at the safehouse. I promise I won’t leave you alone, once we’re out you’ll never have to be alone again. I just have to do this one last thing before I can join you.”
Ryuu looked like he was going to start crying again once he was lowered to the ground, but at the mention of his sister the boy pulled himself together.
“I’ll make sure to protect them until you get back.”
Dazai smiled softly and ruffled the boy’s hair,
“I knew I could count on you Ryuu.”
Dazai watched as the elevator doors slide shut.
He had one more person to see before he could leave.
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Oda watched the front door of the building like a hawk, waiting to see if Ango was coming with the pups while also being ready to drive away in a rush if anything goes wrong.
Gin and Kyouka were also peeking at the door from the back window of the van, both anxiously waiting for the others to arrive.
As the minutes ticked by their anxiety grew, what if something went wrong and they didn’t know, what would they do?
Oda has never been this nervous in his life, with his ability he can see a couple seconds into the future but it doesn’t help when he’s stuck waiting for long periods of time.
He was pulled out of his anxious spiral by the tower's doors opening, revealing Ango, holding two sleeping pups and another following close behind him.
Oda let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. All they have left to do is hope the rest of Dazai’s part goes to plan.
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
After the doors closed and his pups were out of sight Dazai started heading to the stairs, he had to go down a couple floors to Chuuya’s office.
As he navigated the building Dazai had time to think.
Think about what he might say.
About how Chuuya might respond.
About what he would do if his alpha doesn’t believe him.
Dazai knows he’s been hiding so much from the shorter man but he hopes Chuuya understands.
Dazai doesn’t know what he’ll do if Chuuya doesn’t believe him.
He’s spent so much time crafting his carefree, apathetic mask to keep his pups and the people he cares for safe from his abuser, but it makes it a real possibility that Chuuya will think he’s just pulling a cruel prank.
As Dazai reached the door, he hesitated.
He didn’t think his nerves could get any worse.
He quietly opened the door and slid into the office, closing the door behind him.
It took Chuuya a moment to realize Dazai was now standing in his office, looking up from his paperwork with a scowl,
“Hah? The fuck are you doing here shitty mackerel?”
Dazai froze, he couldn’t do this.
“Oi shitty Dazai what’s going on.”
Dazai stood, staring straight at Chuuya with wide terrified eyes.
Chuuya was starting to get worried,
“Dazai what’s wrong?”
Then after another beat of silence, Dazai still unmoving,
“...Dazai, are you okay?”
Without even thinking Dazai blurted out,
“I’m leaving the port mafia.”
Chuuya scrunched up his nose, drawing back a bit,
“That’s not a very funny joke.” looking back down at his paperwork.
Dazai’s silence made him nervous, after it lasted a moment too long, Chuuya looked back up at Dazai, the look on his face was almost haunted, an unnatural pale.
Chuuya could feel the blood drain out of his face,
“You aren’t joking… what the fuck?”
Dazai opened his mouth then closed it again. He grimaced, taking a deep breath before speaking once more,
“I want you to come with me.”
Chuuya was stunned, but then he was also mad. Dazai was the one to drag him into this shithole in the first place, and now he wants him to just up and follow just because Dazai feels like leaving?
…does Dazai really just see him as the dog he jokingly refers to him as?
He stood up, slamming his hands onto his desk.
“Give me one good reason that I would follow you. You were the one who got me into this shithole in the first place, and yeah I’m still a little pissed you manipulated my friends, my family into abandoning me and leaving me nowhere to go but with you, but I sucked it up, I made myself a place here. I made friends, a new family. And what, you want me to up and leave just because why? You’re bored? I don’t fucking think so.”
Even though his anger, Chuuya’s inner alpha was screaming at him to go and comfort his mate, it took everything in him not to give in.
Dazai was panicking, he expected Chuuya to react badly but he didn’t expect him to blow up and be so hostile.
He didn’t know how to make Chuuya understand,
So with a shaky voice, he just started talking.
“Mori picked me up off the streets when I was seven, I- uh I never wanted to be here either, I’ve been trying to leave since then I just- there never was a time until now.”
Chuuya scoffed,
“You want me to believe you, the genius demon prodigy, couldn’t come up with a plan to get out of the mafia in less than ten years? You’re not that dumb, so you’re going to have to try better than that.”
Dazai clenched his fists, he already expected Chuuya to not believe him easily but… he didn’t consider that it would hurt so much.
“You might not believe it but it has taken that long, my presentation and our subsequent bonding caused me to run out of options, I don’t have any more time to come up with the perfect plan to leave.”
Chuuya sighed, anger starting to dissipate into mild annoyance and disappointment,
“I’m not following, why does you presenting and us bonding mean you have to leave.”
Dazai hesitated again, hating how many times in the past few days he’s had to talk about how he’s been treated.
“You know how we presented on the same night?”
Chuuya gave a small hum of confirmation.
“Well I actually was supposed to have presented just over two years before that. My omega fought against it because I wasn’t safe enough to present. My omega presented because it felt safe enough to come out with you.”
Chuuya’s inner alpha purred in contentment at that statement
“If I- if I had presented at any other time Mori would have mated me.”
Chuuya froze.
“Oi what the ever loving fuck is that supposed to mean?”
Dazai feels himself get angry, he’s running out of time and Chuuya is being intentionally dense, Dazai knows he’s not dumb… he just doesn’t believe him. Why won’t his alpha believe him?
Dazai snapped,
“It fucking means Mori has been grooming me to be his omega since I was little. He forced me to father children only to kill them if they didn’t have an ability. The only reason he didn’t fuck me is because I didn’t have the parts he was attracted to yet. He still made sure to tell me that he couldn’t wait for my first heat so I would finally have a cunt for him to fuck, do you know how that feels? To be so irrevocably trapped, unable to leave, knowing the longer I stayed the more likely I would run out of time, unable to suppress my presentation any longer, ending up stuck bonded to that monster for the rest of my miserable life? If I made a mistake Mori would torture and kill my pups. That’s something I couldn’t risk. But now if Mori finds out I’m already bonded to you it’s game over anyways. I have to take the risk now because I have no other choice.”
“Right now I’m trusting you. I really do love you Chuuya, I always have. I don’t want to leave you behind. I want you to believe me. But I have to put my pups first, Mori is going to be back in just over five minutes and I have to be out of the building and in the getaway car by then, are you with me or not?”
Dazai tried to hold a brave face, but he was shaking, this has gone so much worse than he thought it would’ve. He can’t handle the suspense.
Chuuya was frozen, What? Dazai and Mori?
Mori, the man Chuuya pledged his loyalty to?
The leader he looks up to?
He hurt Dazai?
Chuuya didn’t want to believe it.
He walked from behind his desk and stood in front of Dazai, face blank.
“I don’t want to believe you.”
Dazai felt his heart shatter.
“I see... I guess this is goodbye then”
He turned around, heading towards the door, holding back tears
Chuuya quickly grabbed Dazai’s wrist,
"Hold on a second… I may not want to believe you, but I do trust you.”
Chuuya sighed, running a hand down his face
“I trust that even if for some stupid reason you’re lying about all this to get me to leave it’s at least going to end up being a good reason and so I’ll follow you.”
Dazai whipped his head around, frantically looking into Chuuya’s eyes, his own widened in shock.
“I hope you’ll be able to forgive me for not believing you because god I really don’t want it to be true.. I’m praying to any god that might be out there that you’re lying and I didn’t miss the fact you were being hurt right in front of me, that I pledged my loyalty to the man that had been hurting you for so many years.. I really don’t want to believe it.. But I’m going to try, I’m going to try to believe you because I love you. I love you so much so yes, I’ll come with you.”
Dazai stared at him, mouth fallen open in shock as tears started streaming down his face, silently crying at Chuuya’s outburst.
Chuuya’s heart broke, seeing his omega in so much pain.
“I know it’s a lot but we have to go, remember? You told me we have to be in the car in… now three minutes, don’t you want to get to your pups?”
Dazai’s pupils grew when his alpha mentioned his pups.
“Pups, yes we have to go to the pups.”
Chuuya smiled at Dazai, who’s logical side shut off for a moment at the mention of his pups, then quickly pulled Dazai out the door, dragging him behind him as he ran, after all they had to leave.
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Oda and Ango waited anxiously in the car, Dazai was cutting it close, there was less than a minute left before they had to leave.
“Oda I’m going to start the engine, either way we have to be getting out of here as fast as we can once the hour’s up. I know he’s not back yet but we promised him to put his pups first.”
Oda opened his mouth to argue, not wanting to think about leaving his pup
They heard Q gasp before yelling out
“MAMA!”
Ango and Oda whipped their heads over to the doors, seeing Chuuya running towards them with Dazai in tow.
Oda threw the door open, allowing the two young executives to jump in the van before Ango sped off.
Oda held his pup close, noticing his tear stained cheeks.
“It’s okay, you’re safe now. You got your pups out, they’re safe. It’s okay, you can let go now.”
Dazai burst into tears as he was held by his parent.
Oda rocked him, whispering small reassurances in his ear as the omega was finally allowed to break down, him and his pups being truly safe for the first time.
Chuuya watched them with slightly misty eyes,
Yeah, he made the right decision.
They were going to be okay.
Notes:
End of the Mafia arc!
There’s going to be two more sections, the time in hiding then the Ada.
It might be a week or two between the next chapter since I have to hammer out the outline for the next arc before I can start actually writing the chapters.
I originally wasn’t going to have Chuuya follow Dazai out of the Mafia, I live for Chuuya letting his anger get the best of him and having to deal with the consequences but I think making him watch Dazai suffer thought ptsd and shit after not fully believing him is better so I switched it up kinda last minute.
Hope you enjoyed!

Chapter Text
Chuuya listened as his mate sobbed into Oda’s arms, watching wearily as the port mafia building disappeared into the distance.
He knew he made the right choice leaving with his mate, he did.
But why was it still so hard?
He looked around the van, seeing all the pups in the car, Gin, Ryuu, Q, Elise, and Kyouka.
They’ve all been hurt by being in the mafia, haven’t they?
Maybe that’s why it seemed so easy for them yet so hard for him.
The mafia was the first place he truly felt like he had a home and some semblance of safety.
But for them?
It was a prison.
Chuuya shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He can dwell on this later, for now he needs to know the plan. He understands why they had to keep him in the dark but now he needs the details to be able to keep his mate safe.
Dazai had cried himself to sleep in Oda’s arms, his inner alpha purred in contentment seeing his insomniac of a mate finally sleeping. He slid into the empty front seat, content to interrogate Ango for answers while his mate slept off his worry.
“Oi glasses, where we going?”
Ango sighed at Chuuya’s lack of manners.
“Right now we’re headed to pick up the rest of Oda’s pups at another safe house. From there Oda will drive his pups excluding Dazai to the next safehouse where we will spend the rest of our time in hiding. The house has plenty of security measures and the neighbors will actually be guards assigned to us to keep us protected until you, Dazai, and Oda end up in the protection of the ADA. Thankfully Chief Taneda is taking this very seriously ”
Chuuya hummed in approval before looking in the mirror at the sleeping pups in the back of the van.
“So which ones are Dazai’s and which one’s are Oda’s?”
“Kyouka is Oda’s, the rest are Dazai’s”
Chuuya raised his eyebrows in shock, running a hand through his hair and chuckling in disbelief
“No shit? Damn mackerel’s lucky I always wanted a big family I guess ”
He paused for a moment, his brows knit in confusion after doing the math.
“Dazai mentioned Mori forced him to father children but I’m a little confused, Gin is 12 and Ryuu is 14, they were both born before Dazai met Mori, and hell I’m not even going to ask how or why Elise is here yet but the only pup Dazai could’ve fathered is Q? Dazai made it sound like there was more than one but isn’t there like a 25% chance for a child with an ability user as a parent to develop an ability? The way Dazai said it made it sound like there were quite a few so where are the others?”
Ango clenched the steering wheel, knuckles turning white.
“Either those odds are false or Dazai is extremely unlucky. Q was the only child that developed an ability. Mori killed the rest.”
Chuuya stared at the road ahead, voice coming out at barely a whisper,
“How- how many were there?”
“Q was the only survivor of 20 children”
“Oh fucking hell” Chuuya buried his head in his hands, trying to hold back tears.
“Oh god how am I supposed to help him when I didn’t even know all this was going on? Hell, I still don’t want to believe that it’s true. How-how could anyone do something like that?”
“First off I’m going to need you to cut it out with you saying you don’t believe him. Even if it’s true he really does not need to be hearing that right now. He is going to be processing years of grief and trauma for the first time for these next few months, it’s not going to be pretty. Me or Oda would gladly help work through any problems you’re having with this big change but this is one thing Dazai does not need to worry about right now.”
“Second I’m going to tell you something Dazai told Oda and I when we went down the same guilty spiral for not seeing what he was going though. He told us there was no way any of us could’ve caught onto him because he had to learn how to lie impeccably to keep his pups safe from Mori. We didn’t realize what was going on because if we did it would’ve put his pups at risk so he made sure his lies and crafted persona were flawless. He told us it was stupid to blame ourselves when he trusted us enough to tell when he needed us the most. He trusted you enough to tell you as soon as his pups weren’t at risk. So hold onto that trust and cherish it because the trust of a feral omega is not freely given.”
Chuuya blinked
Feral omega? What does that mean? He had never heard the term before, he didn’t have time to ask before they were pulling up to the first safehouse and Oda was slowly shaking Dazai awake to be able to switch cars.
Dazai jolted awake, quickly taking in his surroundings with a defensive posture before slowly relaxing once he remembered what happened.
Oda whispered softly.
“Sorry to wake you so soon pup, I have to switch cars and I figured it was better to wake you up now than have you wake up not knowing where I am.”
Dazai gave him a soft smile
“Thank you Odasaku, I’ll see you at the next safe house.”
Oda leaned down and placed a small kiss on the top of Dazai’s head before scooping up a sleeping Kyouka and heading to the other car where his other pups were already waiting with one of the guards assigned to them.
Before they could get started moving again Dazai slid into the front seat, curling up close to Chuuya forcing him to scootch over and share his seat, Chuuya knew it wasn’t the safest to share a seat but fuck it, his omega needed all the comfort he could get so he chose to ignore the fact it was mildly unsafe.
Ango looked like he was about to tell them off, but quickly thought better of it and decided to just start driving instead.
Once they were back on the road and following Oda’s car Ango broke the silence,
“Since we have a fairly long drive ahead of us and the little ones are asleep I think we should take this time to discuss some plans for the first couple of days once we get to the safe house.”
Dazai shifted closer to Chuuya before pouting and speaking in a whiny drawn out tone,
“Nooo I just want to cuddle with my mate and go back to sleep, is that too much to askkk? I’ve had enough hard conversations over the past week to last me a lifetime can’t we take a break?”
Even though Dazai played up his reaction, Ango could tell there was some truth to his words, Dazai’s not used to the level of emotional vulnerability he’s had to show over the past few days, Ango wished he could just leave him be to rest but there was a couple more things they needed to talk about before getting to the safehouse so Dazai could finally rest once they arrived.
“I know you just want to rest, but if we talk about this now then once we get to the safehouse you’ll be able to go make a nest and cuddle with your mate and pups for a few days before there’s anything else we need to discuss, doesn’t that sound so much better?”
Dazai perked up and his pupils dilated at the mention of a nest, he hasn’t made one yet and his instincts are heavily craving it.
“Okay, yes, fine, talk now then nest. Let’s get this over with”
Ango chuckled slightly at Dazai’s enthusiastic response to mentioning nesting,
“Well for one we need to talk about your suppressants, those black market ones, even though they work well, are very bad for you, especially since you started them right when you presented. You aren’t even supposed to go on the lowest dose of suppressants until six months after presenting to make sure your scent glands develop properly and don’t end up damaged as well as making sure you bond with your inner omega properly. This means once we get to the safehouse you’re going to have to go completely off suppressants, and to be completely honest I would recommend not even starting on the normal ones for at least a year to give your body time to heal from the black market suppressants.”
Dazai sighed,
“I knew you were going to say that, I still don’t like it but I’ll do it since I know it’s needed.”
Ango nodded, glad Dazai wasn’t fighting him on this,
“One more thing, when did you both present?”
Chuuya had to take a second to think before responding.
“It was a little less than a month before my 18th birthday, so a little over two months ago? Does that sound right, Mackerel?”
Dazai hummed in agreement
“It’s a good thing the Chibi is older than me, I was starting to get worried he would end up a beta, you were cutting it pretty close to your birthday and that’s the latest you can present. I’m glad I didn’t just have to run before I turned 18.”
Chuuya blinked as he realized the implications of Dazai’s words
“Wait, did you plan on me being an alpha and us bonding?”
Dazai at least had the decency to look sheepish at the fact,
“I mean not planned, but definitely hoped. I’ve loved you since we first met and as we got older I realized my omega adored you too, that’s part of the reason I assumed you would end up an alpha, so I put off some of my plans in hopes that I could take you with me, I didn’t expect you to present that night.. or that your presentation would trigger mine.”
Chuuya looked at him in disbelief
“You’ve loved me since we first met? You do realize I kicked you in the face and stepped on you when we first met?”
Dazai held his ground but his beet red face betrayed his embarrassment.
“What can I say? It was hot.”
Ango cleared his throat,
“As much as I love this conversation I did ask that for a reason, since you got your first heat right when you presented we have about a month or two to prepare for your next one. Omega heats tend to happen between every three months or every 4 months depending on the omega. With your suppressant use though I wouldn’t be too surprised if you ended up on the latter end of 4 months at least for this first one. That also means you both are going to have to figure out what you both want to do and what you need for birth control if you choose to go down that route.”
Dazai’s omega prickled at the thought of birth control, they wanted babies that’s what his heat is for why would they try to prevent them?
Dazai shook his head, clearing away his omegas compulsions.
“Me and the slug will have to discuss what we want to do for my heat, I know we spent my first one together but we didn’t discuss anything beforehand so we’ll need to have a long talk about it once we have some time to ourselves at the safehouse.”
“Good idea, me and Oda will make sure to give you both time alone and we’ll watch your pups for you.”
Dazai smiled softly,
“Thanks Ango.”
“No problem kiddo, looks like we’re here”
As they pull up one of the guards gets out of Oda’s car to open the gate so they can pull into the driveway.
“Dang glasses, you weren’t kidding about them taking our safety seriously, that’s one huge ass fence if I’ve ever seen one.”
“Well with Dazai’s executive salary alone we were able to afford something large. Chief Taneda made sure to deck out the house of our choice with all the best security. It’s also fully furnished but if there’s anything else either of you want for the house either Oda or I can get it for you. It’s best if we’re the only ones who leave for a while since the mafia is going to be looking for you both.”
“I know the Chibi tends to get antsy so I made sure we had a nice garden space and a room to use as a gym so you have stuff to do.”
Chuuya opened the car door as they came to a stop, climbing out then holding out his hand to help his mate out as well.
“That was really thoughtful of you, thank you Dazai.”
Dazai’s face flushed a deep red, not used to such genuine thanks.
“Let’s wake up the pups and head inside, we can get them settled into bed and then we can go build your nest and then get some rest as well, how does that sound?”
Dazai’s inner omega purred at his alpha being so thoughtful of his needs and his pup’s needs, Dazai smiled,
“That sounds lovely.”
Notes:
It’s been a bit longer than the two weeks I expected, sorry!
The curse got to me LMAO
Part of the reason I decided to upload my fic was because I kinda wanted to test if it was true and well both of my dogs almost died (I had to take them to the vet 7 times in the past 2 weeks). Both of my dogs are okay now so no true harm done so that's good
Time to tempt fate by uploading again ig haha
I can’t promise my schedule is going to be great since I’m pretty busy but I’ll try and update around once a week.
This chapter was kinda hard for me to write too because I’m kinda worried I’m going to end up writing myself in a corner and resolving my conflicts before they even become conflicts or end up going down a completely different storyline than I want so I spent extra time mapping everything out to hopefully avoid that in this arc haha
Anygays this arc is also going to feel mostly filler-y, (to me at least) because even though I know all of this is important plot right now I’m just setting up for the stuff I actually want to get to so motivation is a little harder than it was in the mafia arc
Also these characters have minds of their own because WHAT DO YOU MEAN DAZAI AND CHUUYA ALREADY SAID I LOVE YOU LAST CHAPTER???? That was NOT in the script lmao
I was considering trying to do some slow burn but I was rereading my last chapter to make sure I knew where I left everything off to avoid as many plot holes as I can and I was like hold up? When did they do that?? The main ship just sailed past my slowburn??? Wtf???? So yeah, minds of their own but whatever ig I’m just going to roll with it and they can be in love and shove it in my face ig, too late to stop them so just going to indulge in it a bit lol
I’ll quit my rambling now haha
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
Chapter 7: Chapter 7
Summary:
nest time :)
Notes:
I'm making shit up a bit and trying to cover plot holes so we’re going to pretend like scent covering patches are a thing and Chuuya has been wearing them because I didn’t want to make decisions on the scents for anyone until now and Dazai can’t use them for a while after this because of the suppressants and suppressants are kinda like the abo equivalent of like hormone blocker shots okay thanks have a good read :)
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Once they had parked Ango split off from the group to go help Oda carry in his sleeping pups, Chuuya picking up Q in his arms and using his ability to carry the Akutagawa siblings while Dazai scooped up Elise and cradled her close.
Dazai could already feel the suppressants wearing off, while the black market suppressants worked well he had to reapply them every 12 hours since they didn’t last for very long, he can feel his omega start creeping to the forefront of his mind for the first time.
He could tell his omega was very pleased that he had one of his pups in his arms and his other pups were being taken care of by his mate.
They wandered into the house, quietly as to not wake any of the sleeping pups, Chuuya following along as Dazai’s omega decided which room would be good for his nest and which room would be good to put his sleeping pups to bed while he was making his nest.
After looking through all the options Dazai picked two rooms right next to each other, one with two large beds to put his sleeping pups and another smaller one with a large futon taking up half of the room.
Dazai loved the room he picked for his nest, it was small enough that it felt enclosed and safe but it wasn’t too small that it felt claustrophobic…
like the shipping container.
Chuuya was a little surprised, he figured Dazai would just pick the largest rooms but he actually picked two of the smaller rooms.
Chuuya shook his head, Dazai isn’t the vain person Chuuya once saw him as. It’s going to take a while for him to remember that… and fully believe it.
Dazai motioned for Chuuya to put Gin and Ryuu on one bed and then Q on the other. As Chuuya was doing that Dazai moved to tuck Elise into the bed with Q, as soon as Dazai was no longer touching her she started whining and slightly thrashing.
Dazai froze for a moment, his omega instincts going into overdrive for a moment trying to figure out what was hurting her before his more logical side kicked in and realized she was just having a nightmare.
Dazai tried to figure out what to do to help sooth his pup and realized, if his suppressants are wearing off shouldn’t his scent be coming in?
He unwrapped one of the bandages on his arm slightly, revealing one of his scent patches over his gland on his wrist. He slowly pulled it off revealing his very faint but definitely there scent.
As soon as her omega parent’s scent hit her nose Elise fell back into a peaceful sleep. Seeing this Dazai decided to scent her a bit, as to not wake her up as well as the blanket she and Q are sharing, scenting Q as well and moving onto do the same to the Akutagawa's.
Before Dazai could think of leaving he saw a little cat plushie on one of the shelves and picked it up, scenting it before gently putting it under Elise’s arm, who latched onto it and planted a small kiss on her head before turning around to leave.
As he looked up he saw Chuuya standing in the doorway, smiling softly. Dazai could feel his face turn red with embarrassment at Chuuya seeing him act so softly.
Dazai and Chuuya left the room, leaving the door open a crack so they could hear if any of the pups wake up.
Chuuya spoke with a hushed tone,
“I haven’t ever smelled your scent before, it’s nice”
He gently reached out for Dazai’s bare arm, carefully raising it to his nose, taking in the scent of his mate, closing his eyes for a moment.
“You smell good, like really good, like honey and vanilla with a hint of milk. It’s very soothing.”
Once he opened his eyes and looked at his mate again he saw Dazai looking down at his mate with pupils blown wide and face flushed a dark crimson at his mate’s compliment.
Seeing that Dazai was coming off suppressants and a bit farther into his instincts, Chuuya decided to indulge him.
“Are you ready to go make your nest?”
In an instant Dazai yanked his arm out of Chuuya’s grip using his now free hand to grab onto Chuuya’s hand that had been holding his wrist hostage and yanked him into the room before dropping his mate’s arm, leaving him slightly disoriented after being pulled so abruptly, and pulling out all the blankets from the closet and starting on his nest, tugging off the rest of his bandages and peeling off his scent patches to more easily scent the blankets before putting them into place.
A couple minutes later, once Dazai looked like he was done with his nest, Chuuya decided that would be a good time to join his mate in his nest.
The second Chuuya put his hand on the outer blankets of the nest Dazai whipped his head around and growled, swiping a clawed hand at Chuuya who quickly pulled his hand back, startled, before Dazai could take a chunk out of his arm.
Dazai stayed watching him, breathing heavily, lowly growling on every breath out.
Chuuya wracked his brain, trying to think back to Kouyou’s lessons. What does he need to do to be accepted into his mate’s nest?
He looked around the room, eyes landing on some spare blankets in the corner. Chuuya walked over and dug through the blankets before picking out the biggest, fluffiest blanket he could find. He was about to bring it back to the nest before he had an idea.
He stripped off his gloves and then peeled off the scent blocking patches hidden underneath before rubbing his scent glands all over the blanket, from the corner of his eye he saw Dazai tilt his head in curiosity, his growling subsiding before taking a deep breath, finally smelling Chuuya’s woody scent. His pupils dilated even more, at this point his eyes looked pitch black, not how they usually do when they look empty, but now they almost seem to glow with want, slightly glazed over in the haze of his instincts.
Chuuya knows he got Dazai’s inner omega intrigued, but he wanted him hooked, so after rubbing the blanket a couple more times on his wrist he let the blanket fall to his lap and brought his hands up to his choker, slowly undoing the buckle and letting it fall before peeling off the patches hidden underneath, revealing the marked gland on his neck.
He picked the blanket back up, rubbing it all over the glands on his neck, paying special attention to his mating bite before slowly reaching out to Dazai, presenting the blanket to him.
Dazai snatched the blanket so fast Chuuya almost didn’t see him move.
Chuuya waited patiently as Dazai integrated the blanket into his nest, Dazai turned to stare at Chuuya for a moment before.. Chirping? Did Chuuya hear that right?
Chuuya’s hesitation must’ve annoyed Dazai because he chirped again this time slightly more forcefully, Chuuya was still stunned, sitting there with his jaw fallen open slightly.
Dazai huffed before forcefully pulling his mate into their nest, situating them so Dazai’s face was pressed against Chuuya’s mating mark so he could breath their combined scents on every inhale.
Once Chuuya’s brain came back online he realized he was laying down in the nest with his mate purring into his neck, letting out the occasional chirp in his sleep. Chuuya’s inner alpha was ecstatic and he started crooning in response to his mate’s purrs before slowly drifting off himself.
Notes:
This one’s a bit shorter than the last few, it looks like that might end up being the same for the next 2-3 chapters as well but once I hit the next major plot point they should pick up in size again.
Again let me know if there’s any tags I missed and I hope you enjoyed reading!
Chapter Text
Dazai slowly awoke from his deep sleep, still feeling fuzzy and warm. He felt better than he ever has before.
This was probably the most sleep and the most restful sleep he’s ever gotten. It makes sense that his body decided to finally relax with having his parents and mate to keep watch over himself and his pups, something he was used to doing alone.
He didn’t realize how constantly on edge he and his omega had been for the last decade until he was able to get himself and his pups to safety. He still is slightly uneasy but that’s how he always is when his pups aren’t in his direct line of sight.
It also helps being so close to his alpha and getting scented due to sleeping so close to his neck. After being isolated and constantly in danger for so long, Dazai craves being around others and to be protected for once rather than being the sole protector.
Chuuya himself was slowly waking up, Dazai decided to cherish these moments since he knew Chuuya would want to talk in private before the pups woke up.
Once Chuuya came to awareness he could instantly tell Dazai was already awake even though he looked to still be resting, he gently ran his hands through his mates hair, allowing them a few more minutes of quiet intimacy before they had their conversation.
After a couple of minutes Dazai hesitantly spoke up.
“As much as I’m enjoying this, I know you want to talk before the pups wake up and we have at best an hour before they wake, it will likely be much shorter than that since Ryuu will likely wake up earlier in search of his own answers so we really should just get this out of the way.”
Chuuya sighed, also not wanting to break the peaceful moment but knowing it needed to be done.
“I want to know the whole story, everything from start to finish. I’ve only gotten bits and pieces and I’m assuming your friends have only gotten parts as well. We need at least one of us to know everything so we can help you the best we can, and I’m assuming you’d prefer to tell me and not them”
Dazai slightly chuckled,
“I guess the Chibi is right there.”
He paused, letting out a long sigh and snuggling in closer to his mate before starting his story.
“I ran away from home when I was young, I come from a fairly wealthy family and from a young age I had some traits and mannerisms that were taken as more omega than beta or alpha.”
“My parents didn’t take too kindly to that. In higher society there’s a lot more prejudice and a male omega is seen as the lowest of the low so when I turned out to be quiet and reserved, preferring to stay inside and read rather than go play or do sports my parents already weren’t very happy.”
“Everything really changed when we had visitors come over one day and they had a baby with them. Even though I was barely six at the time they let me hold her.”
Dazai smiled slightly, remembering his first time holding a baby,
“I instantly fell in love, I knew from that moment that one day I wanted kids of my own, it just felt so right holding that child in my arms.”
Dazai’s expression fell,
“I made the mistake of telling my father that, I told him one day I wanted to have my own baby and he snapped, in an instant he slapped me, he yelled that if I kept speaking like that and I ended up omega that he would kill me and then stormed off.”
“I snuck out my window that night and I haven’t heard anything from my parents since.”
Chuuya held him closer, not wanting to interrupt but also wanting to bring his omega some comfort.
“I lived on the streets for around a year, I don’t really know how long since I didn’t keep track of the days, but after I had spent about a week by myself I ran into a gang of kids that took me in. The sheep reminded me of them quite a bit since they were pretty similar. I did some petty theft with them but they primarily had me take care of some of the younger ones. There were a couple of toddlers and a baby and I was such a natural at taking care of them that the older kids decided to let me take care of the littles while they went to get food and money and such.”
“One day one of the oldest called a group meeting. She had met a doctor that was willing to give us all a checkup as charity work and was willing to not contact social services to get us split up. None of us really trusted that a doctor wouldn’t snitch but one of the older kids and the baby had gotten really sick so we didn’t have another choice.”
Dazai sighed, turning his head farther into Chuuya’s neck, seeking comfort,
“That was the worst decision we could’ve made. The doctor ended up being Mori. At first it seemed like a good choice, he figured out what was wrong with the older boy and assured us he would make a full recovery, after that he asked to speak to me alone with the baby since I had been the one caring for her. He asked so many questions, most about her symptoms but he sprinkled in ones on how I cared for her and where I learned how to care for children and once he realized it was just my instincts he got this sick smile. It made me so uneasy, he said he had to perform some tests before he could diagnose the baby and started rummaging through his bag. Since I was nervous I focused my attention on the baby. I didn’t have a chance to react when he shoved a cloth over my mouth and then everything went dark. I still don’t know what happened to the other kids, I can only assume Mori killed them but he never confirmed one way or another.”
“The next thing I knew I was strapped to a gurney in a medical ward and Mori was-”
Dazai faltered for a moment, clearing his throat before continuing,
“He was touching me, telling me how after this I would have a baby of my own, telling me how I would make such a good mother, and telling me how good I was doing. He kept cooing and stroking my hair as I cried and thrashed and tried to get away. Once he uh- he had collected my um- my seed he put another cloth on my face and everything went dark again. I woke up in that god awful shipping container.”
“Those first nine months were the worst. Mori would occasionally come to see me although he never said a word to me anymore, sometimes bringing me food and water, sometimes he would touch me. I never knew how long he might be gone since he would consistently leave me alone for weeks at a time so I learned to ration everything he gave me. It was horrible . There was nothing for me to do, left alone with my thoughts for months.”
“Towards the end of the nine months was the longest time he left me alone. It had been about two months of nothing, I had run out of food a couple days prior and was about to run out of water. Once he showed up he brought the most supplies he had ever brought, enough food and water to last for months but also baby formula and diapers. Once I realized what was happening he handed me a baby and left.”
Dazai looked up at Chuuya, who was silently crying. Dazai realized he was crying too, when did that happen?
“She was so beautiful, Chuuya. I decided right then and there that I didn’t care how she was conceived, I was going to love her and give her the best life I possibly could. I made her a little makeshift crib with an empty diaper box and some blankets. I lived in my own little world for those three months, even though the situation wasn’t ideal I really was happy with my baby.”
“That reality shattered when Mori came back again. He overpowered me and knocked me out again and when I woke up we were back at his clinic. I was strapped to a chair and he was drawing blood from my baby. He did a test and when he looked at the results he clicked his tongue and said “what a shame” before grabbing this horrible syringe and injecting my baby with something as she cried. I could only watch as her movements slowed and cries died down before she went completely limp. She was gone, he killed her, and then he threw her limp body in the trash as though she was meaningless. I passed out from the shock alone.”
Dazai paused for a moment, allowing some silence in respect for his lost daughter.
“When I woke up I was back in the shipping container and there was another baby in the makeshift crib, a little boy. He didn’t give me any time to grieve before giving me another baby to care for. This time I didn’t let myself fall into my own world, I started trying to find ways out and made plans, I didn’t want to sit idly and wait for my second child to be killed by that monster as well.”
“There was no way for me to leave without the door being opened by someone stronger than me. Even if it wasn’t chained shut I was too weak to move the large door on my own. Because of this the only way that I could potentially escape was when Mori came to take my next child as well. I was able to deduce by the age of my son when he was given to me, and the length between the times he would molest me, that I would have around three months before he would be coming to collect my child and handing over a new one.”
“I spent as often as I could teaching myself to control my breathing and heartbeat to be able to realistically fake being asleep so the next time Mori returned I could catch him off guard. In the days leading up to the three month mark I spent all my time in bed so if I heard him approaching it would take no time at all for me to fake sleep.”
“Once Mori returned I pretended to sleep, once he was about to cover my mouth with the cloth to drug me once more I used his lowered guard to push the cloth over his own mouth and hold it there until he himself passed out. I took my son out of the crib and I ran as fast as I could. I made two major mistakes, one I didn’t leave the cloth on his face and let it fall to the ground, and two I didn’t consider the possibility he had built up some immunity to the drug.”
“It took less than two minutes before I was being chased by a blonde haired glowing girl. As soon as she caught up to me the instant we touched she exploded into a flash of blue light. That was the first time I used my ability. I turned around to keep running only to run right into Mori. He had used Elise to chase me right into him. He easily managed to overpower me and knock me out once more.”
“Once I woke up I was strapped in that same chair in that horrible room. He told me how impressed he was that I figured out how to control my breathing and heartbeat so effectively. He praised me for being so clever. He said that because of this and the fact I had a very unique ability I would have the privilege ”
Dazai shivered with disgust even repeating the words,
“of being mated by him once I presented. He told me that since he has decided to keep me around he wanted me to make sure he would not tolerate an escape attempt again and as punishment he spent hours torturing my son to death, making sure I knew if I ever tried to leave again it would be my child that suffers.”
Dazai pushed his head closer to Chuuya’s hand, urging him to keep up the soothing motion of stroking his hair, needing all the comfort he could get recalling this horrible moment.
“After that I never tried to escape again, he also started using tranq darts to make sure I was out cold before he even opened the door so I wouldn’t even have the chance to try. As time went on Mori became increasingly agitated that I hadn’t managed to produce a child with an ability yet. It was about three years after I had been in his care that he became so desperate for a child with an ability that Elise herself developed an ability and therefore her own soul.”
“I’m not completely sure how it worked but over the years Elise gradually became less and less under Mori’s control, it wasn’t until a year ago that she was fully out of it and actually started aging.”
“That made it kind of difficult to hide she was no longer his ability but that’s not an important detail.”
“It took about five years before Q came along and I finally had a child I could keep. After Q there were three more children since Mori already had the surrogates impregnated but none of them gained an ability so it was just me and Q. I was around 13 when Mori started training me for the mafia.”
“He would dose me with small amounts of poisons and medications until I ended up immune to most of them. After that he started me on torture training. He said the best way to learn was by experience so he would use a technique on me and then I had to successfully use it to make a subject crack. Mori said if I wasn’t successful my next demonstration would be watching as he used the method on Q. I never failed. It’s easy to be inhumane to others when someone so important is on the line.”
“When I was 14 Mori killed the previous boss and used me as his witness. After that it was just more training until I met you.”
Dazai huffed out a small laugh,
“I really didn’t know how to act around you, not only were you the first person my age I’d talked to in nearly 7 years you were also the most beautiful, breathtaking person I ever met.”
Chuuya blushed a deep red at that comment, turning his head away slightly to try and hide his face,
“I knew from the moment I laid eyes on you that you were it for me, there would be no one else I could love more. It became the issue of acting cruel around you enough that others and Mori thought I hated your guts but not enough that you thought I hated your guts.”
“Seeing as Mori thought you would be an omega as well he decided it would be beneficial to have us in close proximity since he assumed that if there was an omega I hated around my omega would become more protective of the alpha closest to me, Mori. Boy was he wrong.”
“The day I met Ryu and Gin I pup bonded with them on sight. I was supposed to present a little before we had met so even though I technically wasn’t an omega yet my omega was already partially there. Since Gin didn’t have an ability I hid her away with Verlaine to train, my instincts told me Mori would kill her but not Ryuu since he had an ability. Unfortunately Mori had trained me well enough that I brought Ryuu to him without even thinking about it.”
“Since he didn’t want me to bond with a bunch of powerful children as a punishment he made me train Ryuu. Mori made sure I knew that if I wasn’t cruel and inhumane he would make sure to torment my pup and make me wish I would have killed him myself. I just hope when I have a talk with Ryuu he can see my perspective and show him I always loved him… even when I had to hurt him.”
Dazai seemed to get lost in thought for a second, before snapping back to reality once more,
“Other than that the rest was pretty much the same, avoid Mori as much as I could, more training, spend time with Q, and bother a certain red-headed Chibi whenever I could.”
Chuuya was silent for a moment, really taking in everything Dazai just told him.
“...I’m sorry” he muttered quietly
“Did the Chibi hit his head? Why are you apologizing?”
“For not noticing, for not doing anything, for not helping you, but most of all for not believing you when you told me the first time.”
Dazai rolled his eyes,
“For one I made sure you wouldn’t have noticed and two you really did do a lot and helped me a lot, you let me just be a kid, act my age for once. That was more valuable to me than you could ever know. I know this wasn’t a planned thing but us mating was the best thing that could’ve happened to me, not only was I mated to the love of my life, you made sure that no matter what now I can never be mated to Mori and that brings me more comfort that you will ever know. And for not believing me I've already forgiven you.”
Chuuya chuckled slightly,
“You really are something else aren’t ya mackerel, here I was supposed to be comforting you yet you’re the one comforting me.”
They laid there in silence for a while, content to enjoy each other's quiet warmth until one of the pups wake up. They had a few minutes of quiet before there was a small knock on the ajar door.
Dazai sat up, freeing Chuuya from underneath him
“Come in”
The door opened, revealing Ryuu standing in the hallway looking mildly nervous and confused.
Chuuya stood up,
“I’m going to see if either Oda or Ango are awake yet and start breakfast, I’ll leave you two alone to have your conversation.”
He planted a small kiss in Dazai’s hair before walking past Ryuu and out of the room.
Dazai let out a small breath,
“Guess I owe you an explanation too, huh?”
Notes:
I don’t really like the format of this one since 90 percent of this is just Dazai talking with little to no breaks but I didn’t really know of a better way to go about it so oh well ig
I might have to add a couple chapters because this was supposed to be where chapter 7 started but I made the car ride and nesting a bit to long haha
The talk with Ryuu was also supposed to be in this chapter but I was already up to 3k words so I decided to split it up lol
I hope you enjoy reading and feel free to yell at me if I need to add any tags!
Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Notes:
Sorry this chapter took a while and is still short, I could NOT figure out the direction I wanted it to go and I have no grasp on Ryuu's character in cannon so I really had no clue how to write him so this is like the 4th time re-writing it and I still hate it lol
I also realized I skipped some info in the last chapter so I’m still deciding if I’m going to go back and edit the chapter or somehow have Dazai do more lore drops later on but I’ll let y’all know once I decide
Anyways I wanted to reiterate that the characters are OOC! I have specifically changed a lot about the characters and how they act so I know that Mori is very different in canon, I changed his character to fit my story, in canon soukoku would have worse communication and overall be meaner, I changed it to fit my story, this is going to be a common theme throughout.
Another disclaimer I have no fucking clue how kids of different ages are supposed to act so Ryuu is probably going to act kinda young for 14 and Q will probably act kinda old for 4 and such
Also I updated the tags!!! If you want the next major plot point to be a surprise then don’t check but if you’re picky about what you read PLEASE read them thoroughly. I wasn’t 100% sure that I was going to add this so I didn’t tag it from the start but now I’m sure so please check the tags!!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“Come here.”
Dazai beckons for Ryuu to join him in his nest, Ryuu hesitates before climbing into the farthest side of the nest, being very careful to take up the least space possible.
Dazai’s omega was having none of it, pulling the pup in close and scenting him.
Ryuu tensed up for a moment before melting into a puddle in his parental omega’s arms.
Once his pup relaxed Dazai started to purr with happiness, glad his pup is warming up to him after years of neglect.
“You’re going to hear me say this a lot but I truly am sorry for the way I treated you. I love you so, so much and I was doing all I could to keep you safe and unfortunately at that time to keep you safe I had to hurt you.”
Dazai huffed out a small laugh realizing how contradictory that sounds,
“Hmm, it would probably be easiest to start with any questions you have and then I can build off those, so what do you want to ask me? You can always speak freely with me and you will never ever be punished for speaking your mind. I know you might not believe it right now but I will do whatever it takes however long it takes to prove to you that is true.”
Dazai ran a hand through his pup’s hair, slowly detangling the ratty mess while he spoke,
Ryuu took a moment to gather his thoughts and form his question, he looked around the room and realized Dazai was a beta… but he made a nest? And had been purring? Neither of those things were beta characteristics.
“Are- are you actually a beta?”
Dazai smiled,
“Observant boy, and no I’m not a beta, I'm an omega. I was supposed to present years ago but due to my circumstances it was delayed until a few months ago.”
Ryuu nodded slightly, it made sense, even before presenting people tend to act like their sub-genders and the first few days with Dazai he acted so motherly towards him and Gin.
After bringing them to the mafia the way Dazai treated Ryuu changed, but not Gin. He knew something was up there.
“You had said the reason you hurt me was to keep me away from Mori, why did you need to keep me away from him and why didn’t you have to do the same for Gin?”
Dazai’s hand paused for a moment before resuming untangling his son’s hair,
“That’s… a bit more complicated to explain. If I thought I could’ve gotten away with it I would have never let Mori know I had a pup bond with you. Unfortunately the best way to lie is by telling half truths. I knew he would let you live since you have a strong ability but if he knew about my pup bond with Gin, a young girl without an ability, without a strong ability? He would have tortured and killed her to punish me for daring to pup bond a child without an ability.”
Ryuu cried out at the thought of his little sister being killed, he didn’t even want to think about that.
“He still didn’t like that I pup bonded you so as a punishment for bonding with you without his permission Mori decided to make me train you, he made sure I knew if I wasn’t horribly cruel to you he would take over your training and that , would be a fate worse than death.”
Ryuu pressed closer to Dazai’s hand,
“That makes a lot of sense, I was trying so hard to figure out why when you first picked me up you were so kind and motherly towards me and Gin and then once you brought us into the mafia you became cold to me but didn’t change for Gin. It makes me feel better knowing it wasn’t because I did something wrong and you didn’t want me anymore.”
Dazai pulled his pup into a crushing hug,
“No never, nothing that happened was your fault at all. I’m so sorry I wasn’t strong enough to protect you. I promise I will never hurt you again and I will do everything in my power to keep you safe.”
Ryuu spoke up meekly,
“Does- does this mean you’re mine and Gin’s mama now?”
Dazai smiled softly,
“Yes Ryuu I’m your and Gin’s mama now.”
Ryuu’s lower lip wobbled for a moment, trying to hold back his cries, before breaking into full on sobs, finally accepting the parental bond he had with Dazai and allowing himself to be the child he still is and seek comfort from his parent.
Dazai rocked his pup as he sobbed, letting out soft purrs trying to soothe his pups' mental anguish.
“I promise I will do everything I can to protect you, I will be the best mama I can and I hope one day you can forgive me for all the hurt I caused you.”
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
When Chuuya got to the kitchen Oda was already up and started with making breakfast, Ango had just gone to bed after finishing all the paperwork and filing Chief Tandea in on bringing Chuuya with as well.
Once they had plenty of food made, Oda decided to go check on Ango and start waking up his pups while Chuuya worked on cleaning up the kitchen.
As Chuuya was putting the last pan away he heard small feet walking towards him, he turned around to see Elise, rubbing sleep from her eyes, still holding onto the cat plushie Dazai scented for her.
“Mama was having a grown up conversation with Ryuu, I came to look for you because Mama says he doesn’t want me hearing grown up stuff. Usually I’m supposed to go back to my room until mama comes to get me but mama trusts you so I came to see you instead.”
“Are you hungry? I just finished making breakfast with Oda, he and his pups should be out soon to eat as well.”
Elise nodded slightly so Chuuya turned to go dish out some food for her,
“Wait, can I ask you a question first?”
Chuuya turned to look at the pup, who was nervously fidgeting with the plush cat’s ears,
“Of course”
Elise hugs the cat stuffie tight and strands up straight, looking into Chuuya’s eyes and with the confidence only an 8 year old girl can possess says,
“When can I start calling you Papa? The way Mama talks about you I always knew you were going to be my Papa but I know you only just found out that you’re my Papa so I wanted to ask how long I’m supposed to wait before calling you Papa.”
Chuuya was dumbfounded, He figured that it would take a while before any of Dazai’s pups would accept him as a parent but here Elise is asking when she can start calling him her Papa,
“I would be honored for you to call me Papa, you can start whenever you feel comfortable, if that’s now that’s totally fine, if it’s not that’s completely okay too. I just want you to be happy and comfortable.”
Elise’s eyes lit up,
“So I can start calling you Papa now? I don’t have to wait?”
“As long as that’s what you want and are comfortable with, I would love to be your Papa.”
Elise gave him the biggest smile,
“Thank you Papa! Can I have uppies?”
“Sure princess.”
Chuuya has always loved kids so he was happy to carry Elise around while he set the table and dished out food.
“Papa?”
“Yes Elise?”
“Y’know you’re a lot shorter than Mama.”
Chuuya’s jaw dropped in surprise, a little offended with how matter of fact she said it, he’s not that short… right?
“When Mama carries me I can see everything but when you carry me it’s kinda like when I stand on a stool.”
Chuuya didn’t realize how easily his ego could be crushed.
“But that’s okay because Papa is really warm, I like being held by Mama but his hands are always so cold, Papa is warm.”
Chuuya’s heart melted, how can a child be so ruthless but also adorable at the same time?
“Thanks Elise, do you want to go help me wake up Gin and Q for breakfast?”
“Yes please Papa!”
Chuuya chuckled to himself, she really is a menace just like her Mama.
Notes:
Welp that was horrendous, I think this is the shortest chapter and yet it’s taken me the most time, idk why I struggled so much with this one but it’s finally done, I just had to do an awkward cut transition because I could not for the life of me figure out how to end the scene with Ryuu, I literally had to add the scene with Elise and Chuuya as filler too because I could not for the life of me get this chapter over 1k words.
I’m also very open to constructive criticism as long as it is done in a nice way!! I am very sensitive so I am dreading getting a mean comment because I will cry and it will ruin my day so please be nice, I’m aware my writing is shit and if you think it’s shit too I already know that so at least give me something to work on about it rather than just making me feel bad because that doesn’t benefit anyone.
Also if there are any grammar things or errors that I make that makes my writing harder to read or less enjoyable please let me know! The only class I have nearly failed is English, English is my only language so I really have no excuse but I still have no fucking clue about how to grammar. It also really doesn't help that I do most of my editing at like 3-4 am most of the time, I have to have that confidence that comes from sleep deprivation to be able to post a chapter lmao
Even if I don’t reply to every comment I read and appreciate all of them, they honestly make my day! I’m just socially awkward, even on the internet, so I don’t know how to respond half the time, I was going back and reading them again and I realized how many I didn’t respond to so I just wanted to say that since I don’t want people who commented to think I ignored them, I just have zero social skills haha
Sorry this note is getting long but I just am brain vomiting my thoughts onto my computer, I am 4 chapters into what is supposed to be a 5 chapter arc but like... so far all I've done is setup for plot so this might be a bitttt longer than I expected. At first I was planning on just time skipping most of it but at the same time SO much growth happens in two years that I don't want to skip because the character development is important but this is also my least favorite arc and it's looking to be the longest. So don't be surprised if the 15 chapters turn into 20... or 25... whoopsies :)
I hope you enjoyed reading (because I did not enjoy writing this one) and have a good rest of your day!!🫶🫶

Chapter Text
While Elise went to wake up the other pups, Chuuya decided to go and check on Ryuu and Dazai. Usually he would have just left them alone for a while but after hearing about how Dazai had to ration food when he was younger and realizing how little he ever saw him eat left Chuuya not really wanting to let Dazai skip meals if necessary.
Chuuya popped his head around the door, looking into the room. Dazai saw the movement from the corner of his eye, whipping his head up to look at Chuuya, his omega panicking and instantly going on guard, not recognizing his mate his pupils narrowing to pinpoints as he bares his teeth and starts growling at the head in the doorway.
Ryuu, hearing his omega parent switch from purring to growling so quickly, panics assuming he’s done something wrong and is going to be punished, and starts struggling in Dazai’s grip and trying to get away.
Dazai tightens his grip, unwilling to let his pup away from him, trying to protect him from the perceived threat that has just entered the room.
Ryuu, realizing he can’t get away starts spewing out apologies, not even knowing what he’s apologizing for,
“I-I’m so sorry Dazai-san, I promise I’ll be better, I-it won’t happen again I swear! Please, I promise I’ll do better!”
Ryuu only gets more frantic and unintelligible with his pleas, in turn Dazai’s growling gets louder, his omega thinking the strange man in the doorway is scaring his pup, not realizing that the man is actually his mate and his pup is afraid of him.
Chuuya doesn’t know what to do, his mate doesn’t recognize him and is very deep in his instincts and is scaring Ryuu, Chuuya froze, not knowing what to do , how to fix this. He couldn’t get closer without risking Dazai attacking him but he also couldn’t leave, his mate was in distress his instincts won’t allow him to leave his mate like that.
In his distress Chuuya doesn’t notice Elise approach until she’s tugging on his pants to get his attention,
“Papa?” She says with confusion and a hint of worry, “What’s going on?”
Dazai blinks, his growling slowing down and some clarity coming back to his eyes,
“Papa?” he shook his head, trying to clear the fog that had settled in over his thoughts, “Elise? Chuuya? What’s going on?”
He looks down at Ryuu and sees his pup panicking and trying to get away from him and freezes, allowing Ryuu to bolt away and cower behind Chuuya.
“Chuuya? What-what did I do? What happened? Did-did I hurt him?”
Chuuya, still frozen in shock, didn’t know how to respond. Before he could think of what to say or do, a hand lands on his shoulder, gently pulling Chuuya out of the doorway. Chuuya jumped and turned around to see Oda, standing there calm as ever.
“Gin heard the commotion and came to get me, go take the pups to have breakfast and try and calm Ryuu down a bit or at least distract him some. I’ll talk to Dazai about what happened.”
Chuuya nodded jerkily, not really wanting to leave his mate but understanding that Oda can handle this better than he can. He herded the pups away and tried not to dwell on the fact his mate didn’t recognize him.
Oda walked over to Dazai, kneeling down just outside the nest and pulling him in close,
“Don’t worry, you didn’t hurt him I promise. When Chuuya came in it seems your omega took over and started acting hostile towards him, Ryuu thought it was directed at him and freaked out a bit. Since he freaked out, your omega side became more defensive thinking it was Chuuya’s fault and it just became a bad negative feedback loop until Elise came and broke you out of it.”
Dazai shoved his head into Oda’s neck, trying to block out everything but his omega parent and trying to logically work through what happened,
“But-but why didn’t I recognize Chuuya? He’s my mate and I trust him more than anyone else, why would I react like that?”
“I can’t be too sure but I think it’s that your omega never had time to get acquainted with Chuuya’s alpha before you mated, so when you immediately went on suppressants it put your omega into a sleep-like state and now that it’s waking up it’s a little disoriented. Since Chuuya has fully settled in with his alpha now he probably seems a lot different to your omega then when you presented. It’s going to take some time before your omega fully realizes that Chuuya is the same alpha from the night you mated.”
Oda tilted his head back, giving Dazai a better angle to breath in his scent while gently laying a hand on the back of Dazai’s neck to help ground him
“ It will likely be worse when your pups are around since your omega becomes so much more protective when they’re involved. With everything happening so fast it completely slipped me and Ango’s minds that this could be a possibility. It also doesn’t help that there really aren’t any cases documented similar to yours so we had no idea how you would react when the time came. This definitely was an outcome that we should have prepared you both for so I am sorry that we let you down in that aspect.”
Dazai took a shuddering breath, trying to not slip into the panic he has been feeling,
“There’s no need to apologize, like you said there hasn’t been any situations similar to mine so we had no idea what would happen. Does this mean Chuuya and the pups can’t be in the same room while I’m around?”
Oda rubbed his thumb in comforting circles on Dazai’s neck, causing him to melt further into Oda’s embrace,
“I’m sorry pup but probably not. I would say once you spend your heat together is when your omega will realize that Chuuya’s alpha is the alpha you mated and then we won’t have to worry, until then any bonding time Chuuya has with the pups will have to be away from you.”
Dazai let out a small whine,
“I was really looking forward to introducing them. My instincts want me to show off my pups to my mate yet my omega doesn’t recognize my mate, I-I used to daydream about it, showing off my pups to Chuuya, finally being able to claim them as mine without fear and share how amazing they are with him, watching him interact with them, he’s always been so good with kids. And now I don’t get that, their first few months of bonding is going to be done with me nowhere near them because I’ll just fuck it all up if I am.”
Dazai lets out a hiccupping sob and Oda’s heart clenches at his pup’s sorrow,
“I’m sorry kiddo, things are supposed to be looking up for you yet we keep running into setbacks, just a couple more months then you can have both your mate and your pups.”
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Chuuya was devastated once Oda told him that he wouldn’t be able to be in the same room as Dazai and the pups at the same time for a couple months. He was looking forward to finally having the family he always wanted but now he has to wait even longer for them to be together.
He knows Dazai has been wanting this for far longer than him, Chuuya can be strong, he will be strong for his mate. Just a couple more months and then they can finally be a family together.
Notes:
Sooo it’s been a month lol, sorry for the long wait!
Life absolutely kicked my ass, my grandpa died then my dog died then a family friend died
It doesn’t help that my body does not cope with grief well so I’ve just been pretty ill for a while
My dog was also like my best friend ever so I’m like pretty depressed and have been struggling to get into writing so I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being another month before I get the next chapter out, sorry in advance but thank you so much for being patient with me!
I’m also really hoping this chapter makes sense because I just sorta slowly wrote it like 100 words at a time spread out over the month so if it’s a bit inconsistent or jumbled that’s why lol
I hope you enjoyed reading!
Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Notes:
SOO y'know how like four chapters ago Dazai's omega was comforted by Chuuya's scent IGNORE THAT LMAO, it has become a plot hole but I really liked that chapter and didn't want to change it so I'm just embracing the plot hole ig LMAO

Chapter Text
It was four months later and Dazai had already turned 18, still with no sign of an approaching heat. While having a steady food supply and proper support gave Dazai the ability to finally gain enough weight that he was no longer worryingly thin, he still was having trouble holding down his food and his omega was becoming increasingly unstable and hostile to anyone other than his pups.
After another week passed and Dazai had nearly bit Oda’s hand while he was bringing him food, only barely moving away in time due to his ability, Ango decided to call Chief Taneda to get a doctor to give Dazai a check up because something was seriously wrong to cause him to not have heats and they were not equipped to handle him without knowing what the problem was.
After some deliberation they decide the agency doctor would be the best to look him over, even though she is an unknown alpha which will likely set Dazai’s omega off, she at least has the ability to bring herself back if he manages to critically harm her.
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Ango opened the door to the house, relief evident on his face when he sees the agency doctor,
“Yosano sensei, I’m so glad you could make it on such short notice.”
Yosano gives a polite smile,
“Well the patient is a future agency member, we take care of our own...”
Yosano trails off, starting to scent the air before her eyebrows raise in surprise,
“Well, it seems you have a pregnant omega on your hands.”
Ango’s jaw drops in surprise, before shooting out questions at a mile a minute,
“What do you mean pregnant omega? Is.. Is that why Dazai isn’t having a heat? Wait a minute, how do you even know that? You haven’t even stepped into the house?”
Yosano chuckles at Ango’s distress,
“Well if it isn’t Dazai it’s that Oda fellow, all I know is that scent? It’s extremely strong which is indicative of a territorial omega, which tends to happen most during pregnancy, the milky undertones are a dead giveaway and a clear sign of pregnancy. Since Dazai had been on suppressants it's no wonder you didn’t notice a change, you’ve only smelled him while he was already pregnant. I worked for a short while in a maternity ward so I’m very good at picking out the scent of a pregnant omega.”
Ango pales in surprise,
“Maybe you should come in and sit down, we need to discuss some logistics before we have to tell Dazai and Chuuya they’re about to be teen parents.”
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Yosano drums her fingers on the table as she thinks
“So Dazai’s omega isn’t recognizing Chuuya’s alpha as his alpha? That’s going to be extremely problematic with Dazai’s pregnancy”
Ango puts his head in his hands and sighs,
“It was problematic even before we found out he’s pregnant, it was okay at first but it keeps getting worse over time, now there’s not a single adult in this house that can be in the same room as him for more than five minutes without making his omega feel cornered and lashing out. We’ve had to resort to having Dazai’s pups do most of the communicating with him because we can’t even get close to him. The only plan we had to at least let his omega realize Chuuya is his alpha and give him that comfort of knowing his alpha is near was to have them spend his heat together but since he’s pregnant that means it’s not going to happen.”
Yosano hums,
“Yes, that is quite the predicament. Once Dazai is truly aware of his pregnancy that’s just going to make it easier for his omega to act on instinct and harder for Dazai to stay level headed. I think I have an idea of how Dazai’s omega can recognize the bond with Chuuya, it won’t be very pleasant for either of them but it’s the best we’ve got.”
Ango lets out a breathless chuckle,
“At this point I’m willing to try almost anything, it’s hard seeing my pup so distraught all the time because he keeps almost hurting us. He doesn’t like to show it but I know the lack of control scares him, so giving him back a little bit of that control with having Chuuya with him and being able to calm him down would be so good for him.”
Yosano nods her head in sympathy,
“I can’t imagine how this feels for you but I do know that for the health of Dazai and his baby having his alpha with him is going to be critical and with his history, losing another child especially now that he’s presented, I don’t know if he would ever recover from it.”
Yosano let the silence sit for a moment, allowing Ango a moment to maintain his composure.
“To have Dazai’s omega recognize Chuuya’s alpha, Dazai’s omega needs to correlate his alpha’s bite, the bite that marked him, with Chuuya’s scent. I can give Chuuya an injection that will stimulate his scent glands and will make his scent more potent. Then Dazai would have to be restrained so that his omega doesn’t hurt Chuuya and essentially have Chuuya bite on his mating mark while scenting him until his omega realizes that the bite and the scent are the same alpha. It could take a couple minutes or it could take hours, we really don’t have enough information on situations like this but I think this is the best course of action.”
Ango puts his head in his hands,
“Okay, we’ll have to tell Chuuya the plan first and then give Dazai as many details as we can without cluing him into why we have to do it this way. We also can’t tell Chuuya about the pregnancy, Dazai would know about the pregnancy the second he looks at Chuuya if we do, Dazai has always been able to read Chuuya like a book, If Dazai doesn’t consent to being restrained we’re just going to either have to find another way or deal with it as is because I’m not going to force that on him, not after everything he’s been through.”
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Chuuya shifted anxiously from one foot to the other, worried on why Ango and the agency doctor need to talk to him first before they can talk to Dazai,
“What’s wrong, you haven’t even looked at Dazai yet and you’re already coming to me looking like you have bad news, spit it out already I need to know what’s wrong with my mate.”
Yosano spoke up, keeping a calm and composed manner as to not intimidate Chuuya’s aggravated alpha, there hadn’t been an alpha in the house with his mate before and so the recently presented alpha seems to be losing a grasp on his instincts a bit.
“We do know what’s wrong with Dazai but unfortunately we can’t tell you yet, it’s nothing bad I promise you, but Dazai can’t know yet and since there’s something we need you to do that means you can’t know yet either.”
Ango can see Chuuya getting aggravated with being left in the dark, stepping between the two alphas he speaks up,
“Yosano is right, while I know you want to know what’s going on with Dazai for his own safety I need you to trust us. At least trust me that I would never do anything against the interest of my pup.”
Chuuya put his hands in his pockets in an attempt to calm himself down,
“I do trust you wouldn’t do anything to hurt Dazai, just.. not being able to do anything to help him is driving me insane.”
Yosano quickly spoke up,
“Well there is something you can do, the problem is your original plan to have Dazai re-bond with your alpha isn’t going to work because he isn’t going to have a heat until after you’ve bonded. But there’s another way, it’s not going to be very pleasant for either of you since Dazai’s omega is going to fight very hard since he correlates your scent with a strange alpha and not his mate. How I think we can fix this is by having you bite down on his mating gland over your mating bond and essentially scent bombing him until his omega realizes the scent and the bite are the same alpha. The biggest downside is for his and your own safety he would have to be restrained.”
Chuuya gasped quietly, he really didn’t like the idea that his mate had to be tied up just so he wouldn’t hurt himself or Chuuya,
“I really don’t like that, but if he agrees it would be for the best if we can get Dazai to not lash out as often, getting him out was supposed to be his chance to heal and be happy but now he’s just… miserable. He can’t even have his pups with him a lot of the time since his omega freaks out whenever they have to leave his room. This was supposed to be his chance to make up for all his lost time with his pups and yet he’s stuck being mostly isolated for the second time in his life, it’s just not fair."
Yosano put a hand on Chuuya’s shoulder in an attempt to console the upset alpha,
“That’s why we need you to do this, if Dazai’s omega recognizes your alpha it would go from his omega thinking there's a strange and potentially dangerous alpha in his den with his pups to having his alpha whom he trusts protecting him and his pups. It won’t fix everything but it should be enough for him to keep control of his omega 95% of the time compared to about 20% of the time right now.”
Chuuya let out a long sigh,
“Okay yeah I get it, I’ll-I’ll go talk to him, see if he’ll even agree to this before we get our hopes up.”
`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`*`
Chuuya lightly knocked on the door to his and Dazai’s room, well Chuuya has had to stay in one of the guest rooms for the last few months but it’s still their room and hopefully after this he’ll finally get to move back into the room with his mate.
“Dazai? Are you awake”
Chuuya heard faint rustling of blankets shifting in the room,
“Chuuya? Yeah I'm awake, what do you need?”
Chuuya sat down facing the closed door,
“We gotta talk a bit, the agency doc apparently already knows what’s going on with you and us rebonding during your heat isn’t going to work, something about you not having another heat until your omega recognizes my alpha? They couldn’t tell me all the details but you trust doc glasses so I’ll trust that he’s keeping us in the dark for a good reason.”
Dazai sighs from the other side of the door, Chuuya can hear him sit down behind the door,
“I had a feeling my heat wasn’t going to come until something else happens, it’s been too long for there to not have been something wrong, Chuuya… What are we going to do? I can’t take much more of this. This is the most we’ve been apart since we’ve met and it hurts to not have you here with me.”
Chuuya’s heart breaks as he hears Dazai’s voice crack with emotion while he spoke, It's been hard on both of them but Chuuya has had Oda and Ango’s support, Dazai has been mostly isolated for too long.
“The doctor has another plan but… it’s not great. It will probably work but it’s going to suck a lot. I also need you to know that you can say no to this and we’ll find another way. I’m not going to do this if you don’t want to.”
Dazai lets out a dry, humorless chuckle,
“At this point I'd be willing to do almost anything to get my Chuuya back. Just tell me what we have to do.”
“To put it simply we’d have to restrain you and I’d bite your mating gland while releasing my scent until your omega realizes the scent and the bite are the same.”
Dazai sucks in a sharp breath,
“You’re right that-that doesn’t sound great… I really don’t like being tied up but… If it’s Chuuya then I trust Chuuya to take care of me even when I’m panicking. I know Chuuya would never hurt me so-so let's do it. If it gives me even a chance of getting my other half back I'll do it.”
Chuuya let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in, while he didn’t like the plan either this was really their best shot at getting things at least partially back together so Chuuya was really hoping Dazai would agree.
“Okay I’ll let them know, they’ll have to get everything set up and we’ll have to move you into another room so you don’t associate this with the room your nest is in.”
Chuuya stood up from where he was sitting and was about to walk away when he heard Dazai speak up softly,
“Chuuya”
“Yeah Mackerel?”
“I love you.”
Chuuya smiles softly at Dazai’s quiet admission,
“I love you too Dazai.”
Notes:
GUYS I PROMISE I'M NOT ABANDONING THIS!!!
Sorry it’s been what, like 4 months??? Oopsies
I was debating having the solution be them having sex or not and the non-sexy version won out, I fear if I wrote a sex scene I might’ve died from embarrassment (I say as though I'm not literally writing mpreg)
I’m a little distracted rn, I got really hyperfocused on another fandom so trying to write bsd characters while my brain is obsessing over other characters hasn't been going over well (I had to re-write this so much because I made them WAY too ooc (I know they’re ooc already but my first draft was like reading a completely different fic lmao), it's still pretty bad I think but better than it was)
(it’s also hit me that I'm an adult writing omegaverse yaoi and had to rethink my life choices but yaoi beat my pride and I'm back to writing my mpreg lmao)
I can’t promise the next update will be soon, I’ve decided to only write when it feels right for me because otherwise I end up hating what I write and then get frustrated, that means longer waits for you guys but also better quality (hopefully) writing from me lol
Also I realized there's a lack of description of their surroundings, I wanted to just give a little explanation to that, I have aphantasia, which means I can’t see pictures in my head so I genuinely can’t imagine the space they’re in so if you haven’t already noticed this fic is heavily dialogue focused, I’m trying to add little descriptions of what they do and if they’re sitting or standing or stuff like that but I sometimes forget lol
Comments are much appreciated! I sometimes get distracted and forget about this so whenever I get an email that someone commented it reminds me to keep writing lol
TLDR: not abandoned, probs long wait for updates, sorry lol
Thanks for reading!
Chapter 12: added stuff to last chapter
Chapter Text
heya! The way i was writing the next chapter the first scene i was going to have ended up fitting better with the last chapter so I decided to just add it there, its about 500 words more, just wanted the people who read the last chapter to know that it was edited. I'll delete this update in like a week :)
