Chapter Text

It was a sunny day in the Mushroom Kingdom, perfect to go outside. The Mario brothers took this opportunity to go on a walk together and talk about things. They then remembered tomorrow's party.

``Peach's birthday is soon. We should go shopping and buy her a gift!`` Mario suggest, smilling at his little brother.

``Great idea bro!`` Luigi says, excited to get her something.

They go inside a clothing store. Mario doesn't seem to be interested in much but Luigi finds a beautiful pink and white dress for the princess. The dress goes along with a beret that matches it.

``Great choice Lu! I'm sure she'll like it`` Mario says, imagining Peach in the lovely dress he picked out for her.

``Thanks Mario! What did you get?`` Luigi asks, not seeing anything in his big brother's hands.

``I couldn't find anything. Maybe we should go to another store?`` Mario asks as he's paying for the dress.

``Sure! But.. you know I could've paid for that, right?`` Luigi says, feeling guilty he didn't pay for the dress he chose.

``Don't worry bro! You can pay for my gift later, okay?`` Mario says, assuring him that in that way he'll be able to pay him back.

Luigi nods and they both head out to a jewellery store nearby.
They look around for anything the princess might like.
After a few minutes of looking, Mario finds a gorgeous pink and red necklace with hearts made out of diamonds and decides to buy it. He knows he told Luigi he could pay but since Luigi's distracted he decided to pay since it's pretty expensive and he'd feel bad for making his brother pay for it.

After they find each other, Luigi looks at Mario kinda sad he couldn't repay him. Mario notices it and tries to lift his mood. ``Don't worry Luigi. This was pretty expensive and it was my choice too.`` Mario says.

``But you paid for both of her presents. I didn't pay for anything.`` Luigi says in a disappointed tone.

``It's fine! Next time you'll pay for the groceries!`` Mario says hoping that'll work.

``Fine..`` Luigi says still a bit guilty he couldn't pay.

The brothers walk and see the new park that was recently built in Toad Town. They decide to seat at a bench near a cherry blossom tree and let their bags near the bench. They look at the beautiful pink flowers that just started blooming and the grass looking green again. The brothers get distracted by a noise. No, it's a voice, a familiar voice.

``So is this the place?`` The Toad asks.

``Yes! This is the new park!`` Another Toad responds.

``Thank you! Have a great day!`` The Green Toad says happily.

The Green Toad approaches the brothers and recognizes them. ``Mario? Luigi?`` Green Toad says, surprised to see them.

``Viri? Is that you?`` Mario asks, surprised to see him as well.

``Yes, it's been so long!`` Viridis says.

``Hey, Viri!!`` Luigi says also happy to see their old adventure buddy.

Viridis sits with them near the cherry blossom tree and they catch up.

``So what have you been doing recently, Viri?`` Mario asks.

``I work in psychological subjects! They're really interesting!``

``Oo! Like what exactly?`` Luigi asks curious.

``Hmm.. Many things, really. Right now, I'm studying something called a personality disorder.`` Viri says seeming really interested in the subject.

``What exactly is that?`` Mario asks, curious.

``Well.. You know how everyone has a personality that defines them as a person, right?`` Viri starts.

``Yeah?`` The brothers say.

``Well.. Some people have another personality with their original one that makes them act like a totally different person! I heard that in rare cases it can actually create another being in your mind, though that never happened since it mostly gets fixed with the right amount of help at the right time!`` Viridis says, really happy he gets to talk about this to someone.

``I see..`` Luigi says remembering he has something similar to that.

``Oh! Do you guys know anyone with an alter ego? If so, please tell me! I want to study these rare cases and find out more on how they can happen!`` Viri says, not aware that he has been talking non-stop for almost an hour already.

``I don't think I know anyone, sorry Viri!`` Mario says, also sounding interested in the subject his old friend found.

``Alright! What about you Weegee?`` Viridis asks getting his hopes up.

Luigi stays silent and doesn't know what to say until he feels his consciousness fading away.

``Lu? Are you okay?`` Mario asks, concerned.

``Luigi? You good? Why aren't you saying anything?`` Viri asks, confused.

Luigi opens his eyes but these aren't his eyes. Luigi's eyes are green now.

``Oh! You're okay!`` Viridis says reasured.

``Yeah, I'm just great!`` `Luigi` says, jokingly.

``Why are you acting weird though? Did I say something wrong?`` Viri asks.

``Luigi? Wait.. Who are you? You're not Luigi.`` Mario asks, noticing Luigi's green eyes.

``Huh? What do you mean Mario? That's literally your brother!`` Viridis asks, even more confused.

``This isn't him! Luigi's eyes are blue not green.`` Mario says, pointing at `Luigi`.

``You're smarter than I thought, red.`` `Luigi` says with a smirk.

``That sounds familiar.. Wait!.. Mr.L?!?`` Mario says, worried it actually is him.

``Ding! Ding! Ding!`` Mr.L says.

``Huh? Whoooo?`` Viri asks, not understanding a single thing.

``I'm what you call an alter ego of Luigi's.`` Mr.L says, sounding proud of himself.

Viridis's eyes widen and he starts getting really, and I mean, REALLY excited.

``OH MY MUSHROOMS! Really?!? I never knew Luigi had this rare case! That's soooo cool!`` The Green Toad says while screaming of joy.

``How are you here? I thought you..`` Mario asks but gets interrupted by Viri's questions. Can't blame him for being this excited.

``How did you get created? What do you call yourself? Did you know Luigi's eyes change color when you're the one speaking? What are you like?`` Viridis continues to bombard Mr.L with questions until they get answered.

``Well, I guess call me Mr.L.`` He says.

``Cool name! So.. how were you created?`` Viri asks while taking notes on his papers that were not there a second ago.

``From some brainwashing that happened a while ago.`` Mr.L says in an uninterested tone. ``And no, I didn't know Luigi's eyes turn green when I control him so thanks for telling me, I guess.`` He says still sounding bored.

``No big deal! Can I study you? You're interesting!`` Viri asks, taking out more papers.

``Fineee. I don't have anything better to do anyways.`` Mr.L says, not knowing why he even showed himself in the first place but he was getting bored staying in Luigi's mind all the time.

Mario looks at the whole thing and is speechless. He can't believe Mr.L was here the entire time, and in Luigi's head too? Why didn't he tell him?

The Q & A goes on for about 30 minutes. Viridis has piles of papers in his hands and prepares to leave with this new information. ``Thank you so much for this Mario and Luigi! Oh, you too Mr.L! I have to get going!`` Viri says.

Luigi gains control back and recalls what happened. ``Wait! Viridis!``

``Yes, Luigi?`` Viri says noticing Luigi's back in control due to his eyes now being their original blue color.

``Can you keep this to yourself? I don't want everyone knowing I have another person living in my mind. So can you please keep this a secret?`` Luigi asks scared about how this will turn out and hoping this will stay between them.

Viri hesitates. He really wanted this information to be shared as it could help others with this rare case too. He thinks and decides to agree. ``Finee. I really wanted to help others but if you want it to be a secret then I'll keep my mouth shut.`` Viridis says, a bit sad that he can't tell anyone.

``Thank you, Viri!`` Luigi says being thankfull this turned out well.

``No problem! It was great talking to you two! I hope we can talk more soon, bye guys!`` Viridis says as he happily runs out of the park.

It's already afternoon, the brothers walk home. On the way back, Mario decides to ask his brother about the Mr.L situation as he wasn't aware of it and is worried of what it could mean. ``So.. Luigi?`` Mario asks trying to stay calm.

``Yeah?`` Luigi responds.

``You never told me he was back..`` Mario says a bit sad he didn't tell him something this big.

``Oh.. Sorry, bro.. I wasn't sure how to tell you.`` Luigi says looking down.

``Sigh.. That's why you shouldn't always hide things from me all the time.. Can you guys communicate with each other?`` Mario asks still upset he wasn't informed about this.

``Well.. yeah! We can hear each others thoughts too! He isn't that bad though!`` Luigi reassures.

``Are you sure? He hasn't been mean?`` Mario asks concerned.

``Maybe a little bit in the beginning. Nothing as bad as Bowser though!`` Luigi says with a soft smile.

Mario nods not really reassured by that statement. He will ask more later since they have now arrived home.

They go inside and decide to eat their last meal and prepare to go to bed. Mario showers and gets into his pj's while Luigi cooks supper.
Luigi decides to open the TV on the news to listen while he's cooking.

``Today's news! A new type of Goomba discovered! A big celebration for this years princess anniversary! And.. A person living inside ones mind has been discovered! What could this mean? We'll know more with psychologist Viridis Legreen.`` The news reporter says.

Luigi freezes at that. Did he hear that right? This isn't what he thinks it is, right?

Mario comes in the kitchen and looks at his brother. ``Lu? Are you okay?`` He asks confused on why his brother isn't moving an inch.

Luigi then responds quietly ``He... didn't keep his promise..``

``Huh? What do you mean? Who didn..`` Mario asks but looks at the TV and notices what is written.

The news story title is called `Another you inside your mind? A rare case was found!` and he knows what this means. ``Viridis.. There's no way he would actually..`` Mario says surprised by his old friend acting this way.

``He.. broke his promise..`` Luigi says looking down in shock.

Mario looks at his brother in worry. ``It'll be fine. I'm here for you! I'll tell the princess about this. He can't just spill personal information like this on the news for the whole Kingdom to know.. It isn't right!`` Mario says sounding mad at Viridis and trying to comfort his little brother.

``Don't! Please don't bother Peach with this! She shouldn't have to worry about this..`` Luigi says making sure he isn't a disruption.

``Fine.. but if things go wrong.. I won't just stand by.`` Mario says sounding more and more furious at his old buddy.

Chapter Text

The brothers go to bed and try to calm down after this chaotic turn of events. Mario falls asleep quickly, as always, since he's a deep sleeper but Luigi can't find rest in his mind. His secret got revealed not only to his brother and friends but to the whole Kingdom! What is he gonna do about this? Will he be able to stop the rising questions of his friends?

The next morning, the brothers eat breakfast together. It's some pancakes made in American style. Luigi's a great cook! As they finish their food, Mario looks at his brother who seems like he didn't catch a good amount of sleep. ``Hey bro?`` Mario asks.

``Yeah?`` Luigi says sounding tired and distressed.

``Were you able to sleep after all of that?`` Mario asks, worried.

``Uh.. only a little.. I couldn't think of anything else.`` Luigi says trying to assure him that his fine.

``Are you sure we shouldn't contact the princess? She could help get this over with!`` Mario suggests again really wanting his brother to agree.

``I don't want to bother her and.. you said only if things get worst.`` Luigi says, really not wanting to cause any more problems.

``Maybe we shouldn't wait for the worst, Lu.. What if it does get worst? What would you do?`` Mario asks, overthinking of bad scenarios.

``Hey, don't worry Mars..`` Luigi says as he hugs Mario. ``It'll be okay! Don't overthink this.`` He says seeming more calm.

``I can't help it sometimes, Lu..`` Mario says looking down and hugging him back.

The brothers are interrupted by a knock on their door. Who would knock at such an hour?
Mario pulls away from the hug and reassures Luigi that he'll just answer the door and if it's not important then he'll be back in a matter of seconds. Luigi nods and also pulls away from the hug while watching his big brother leave.

Mario opens the door only to be bombarded with questions from news reporters. ``Hello Mario! Is your brother here?`` A purple Toad reporter asks.

``Hey Mario!!! Is Luigi available? I have so many questions that need answers.`` A Blue Toad reporter asks.

Other reporters are there waiting for answers and filming on live TV.
Mario glares at them but hears Luigi coming closer. Before he could warn Luigi not to come, the green plumber is already at the door with him.

The reporters, being glad to see him, start asking questions. ``Hey Luigi! Could you explain your other personality? It's quite interesting!`` The purple Toad reported asks.

``Luigiii! Is it true you have a person living in your mind? How did that happen?!`` The Green Toad reporter asks.

Luigi, not knowing how to answer all of them, pulls away from the door but the reporters try to get closer for answers.

Before they could do anything, Mario steps up ``I know you have questions but this isn't the moment. Can you please let us have breakfast? Did you even confirm that what Viridis said is in fact real?`` He says, still glaring at them.

The reporters all go silent. ``Maybe.. not, but Luigi could confirm that!`` The Green Toad reporter says.

``Sigh.. Please leave..`` Mario says, trying to keep his cool.

``But..!`` The Purple Toad reporter says but gets interrupted.

``LEAVE!`` Mario shouts, not realizing he let his anger control his actions.

The reporters, being frightened by Mario's sudden anger, leave quickly.

Mario takes a deep breath and closes the door. ``Oh right! Luigi..`` Mario thinks, remembering Luigi was here for all of that.

Mario runs to Luigi's room and knocks.``Luigi? Are you okay?`` Mario asks.

``Y-yeah! Don't worry it was just.. a lot of people and.. noise..`` Luigi says, sounding troubled.

``Can I come in?`` Mario asks.

``Sure!``

Mario enters his brother's room and sees him sitting on the floor, that doesn't look comfortable.
The red plumber goes to sit next to Luigi.

``Do you think..`` Luigi starts.

``What?``

``...This will end soon?`` Luigi asks, still not looking at Mario.

Mario looks at him. ``I knew we should've called the princess then this wouldn't have happened!`` He says, not realizing he sounds angry.

``Sorry bro! I.. didn't think it would get that bad..`` Luigi says, shaken by Mario's sudden change of tone.

Mario looks at Luigi and realizes he looks frightened by him. ``Oh.. Sorry Lu! I forgot you hate loud noises..`` The red plumber says, feeling guilty.

``It's fine!`` Luigi says smiling softly.

The brothers stay still for awhile until Mario decides to speak up. ``Hey Lu? I think I'll call Peach..`` He says, looking at Luigi.

``I don't want to be bother though.. She might be busy getting ready for her birthday and all!`` Luigi says still against the idea.

``Lu.. I know you don't want that but.. It's necessary to stop all those rumors from spreading.`` Mario says, taking his phone out of his pocket.

Luigi nods still not looking sure of this but trusts Mario knows what's best.
Mario leaves the room and calls the princess.

``Hey Mario!`` Peach says.

``Hey princess! Did you see the news?`` Mario asks.

``Oh! I knew I was forgetting something..`` Peach says. ``I did! I was gonna call you but I guess I forgot after my meeting..`` She says, feeling bad she forgot something that important.

``So you know about Mr.L?`` Mario asks.

``So it's true..`` Peach says in surprise.

``Mhm.. Luigi told Viridis to keep this between us but he was on the news..and you know what happened..`` Mario says sounding a little mad.

``So he shared personal information without his consent.. That isn't aloud!`` Peach says also sounding a little angry.

``Yeah.. This morning, news reporters were bombarding us with questions and they made Lu feel uncomfortable.. I can't believe he did that!`` Mario says, still pretty mad at Viridis.

``Mario.. You should try to calm down. I'll make sure to take care of this situation. Please rest at ease!`` Peach says, sounding more calm.

``Sorry.. I'm glad this will be taken care of!`` Mario says.

``It's fine! I'll contact the channel he was on and tell them it was just fake rumors. They should believe me since I don't usually lie.`` Peach says.

``Thank you, princess! Sorry to bother you with this, especially on your birthday..`` Mario says.

``It's fine, I'm happy to help in any way possible!`` Peach says as she hangs up.

Mario takes a deep breath and goes back to Luigi's room.

``Hey Mario! So how did it go?`` Luigi asks hoping it went well.

``She'll take care of it, don't worry!`` Mario says sounding happier than before.

``That's good..`` Luigi says as he takes a breath of relief.

``We should probably go eat lunch.`` Mario suggests.

``Didn't we just have breakfast?`` Luigi asks not realizing how quickly time went by.

``Heh.. No it's 11 A.M now bro!`` Mario says while smiling.

``Ohh! I'll get to it then!`` Luigi says as he heads to the kitchen to prepare their lunch.

After a delicious lunch made by yours truly, Mario gets a phone call. ``I'll be back, it's Peach!`` Mario says as he goes in the hallway.

Luigi nods while he continues eating his lunch.

``Hey princess! How did it go?`` Mario asks ,expecting good news.

``Good! The news bought it.`` Peach says happily.

``That's a relief!`` Mario says sounding reassured.

``Mhm! Viridis might come to apologize to you guys soon so if you hear a knock it's probably him.`` Peach says. ``Don't be too hard on him, okay?`` She says.

``How did you know I was going to..?`` Mario asks, surprised she could read his mind.

``I know you better than you think.`` Peach says, laughing a little.

``Heh.. Thanks princess! I'll go tell Luigi.`` Mario says.

``Good idea! Stay safe you both!`` Peach says.

Mario hangs up and heads into the kitchen to tell Luigi of the news until a knock is heard.

``I'll get it!`` Luigi says going towards the front door.

Mario follows him to make sure everything's okay. The door is opened and it isn't Viridis, it's Daisy!

``Hey Luigi! You okay?`` Daisy asks.
``Huh? Oh, yeah! I'm good, why do you ask?`` Luigi asks, confused.

``I saw the news. I came here to see if you were okay since it didn't seem like you would want something like that to be revealed.`` Daisy says as she enters the house.

``I'm okay! Peach is taking care of the situation.`` Luigi says while smiling.

``That's good, I'm glad it's being taken care of!`` Daisy says feeling reassured.

``I know it might be rude to ask but.. do you really have an alter ego?`` Daisy asks curious.

``Oh.. uh.. sort of, I guess. It's more like another person living in my mind. He's like a cooler version of me!`` Luigi says.

``Ooo! Sounds cool!`` Daisy says sounding interested. ``You know you are cool too, right?`` She asks making sure he isn't downgrading himself.

``Y-yeah!..His name is Mr.L by the way!`` Luigi says, not believing he truly is cool.

``That sounds familiar..`` Daisy says while thinking of where she heard that name before.

Mario comes in the living room and greets Daisy.

``Oh hey Mario! Sorry, I was just passing by.`` Daisy says.

``It's fine.`` Mario reassures.

``Sooo.. What's it like when your other self is here?`` Daisy asks, wanting to know more about this other version of him.

``I dunno.. Mario, did I look different when L was in control?`` Luigi asks.

Mario looks at them and recalls the moment Mr.L was controlling Luigi. ``..Your eyes were a dark shade of green but.. that's pretty much it.`` Mario says.

``That's interesting..`` Luigi replies.

``How cool!`` Daisy says in an excited tone. ``Sorry to bother you guys with all of this! I should probably get going.`` She says as she gets ready to leave.

``Bye Daisy!`` Luigi says while waving at her.

Daisy waves back and, as she leaves, she sees a Toad coming by. ``Hello princess!`` The Toad says.

``H.. Wait.. aren't you the one who..`` Daisy says but the Toad cuts her off.

``I'm visiting the brothers as well! It was great to see you.`` The Toad says as he goes closer to the brothers.

``Okay, rude.`` Daisy thinks as she walks away.

The Toad goes and greets the brothers. Mario sees him as he was about to close the door.

``Hey Mario! Hey Luigi!`` Viri says talking as if he did nothing wrong.

``Hey..`` Mario says not sounding happy to see him.
``Hey Viri..`` Luigi says.

Viridis notices how mad Mario looks and gets a bit frightened. ``Uh.. so..`` He starts. ``I'm really sorry Luigi! I didn't keep our promise..`` Viridis says, finally sounding regretful.

The brothers look at him and then look at each other not sure what to say.

``It's.. Okay!.. You just wanted to help others with that information!`` Luigi says as he smiles.

``I guess..it's fine.`` Mario says not sounding truthful.

``Thanks you guys! I'm sorry and it's as you said, Weegee.. I wanted to share all this information to help people with these problems.. I'm really sorry though!`` Viridis says.

``It's okay! No worries, I understand.`` Luigi says sounding happier now that this is over.

``Yeah.. But..`` Mario starts. ``Breaking our trust like that.. Really? Just for your job?`` He says blinded by rage.

``Mario..`` Luigi says, trying to stop him from going any further.

``I'm sorry, Mario! I really am.`` Viridis says as his bowing down apologetically.

``Please don't ever do that again, Viri..`` Mario says while giving Viridis a death stare.

``Y-yes, Of course!`` Viri says.

``I should probably go now.. Sorry again guys! I hope we can get on better terms!`` The Green Toad says as he leaves.

``Yeah! Bye!`` Mario says.

They watch Viridis leave and, finally, close the door. Feels like they had too many guests today.

Chapter Text

After this whole ordeal is over, the brothers get ready for the princess's birthday party held in her castle. Mario gets the necklace and dress and puts each of them in a different present box, one with pink hearts on it and the other with red flowers on it.

After they're done preparing, the Mario brothers go outside and head to Peach's castle which already has a bunch of balloons and decorations up.
As they enter the castle, they are greeted by Toadsworth and Peach who are in fancy wear for the party.

``Hello Master Mario and Luigi!`` Toadsworth greets.

``Hello, Toadsworth!`` Mario and Luigi greet.

``Hey Mario! I'm glad you guys could come!`` Peach says.

``It's not a problem! It is your birthday after all!`` Mario says looking at Peach's beautiful party dress.

``Well, all of that did happen so I was worried you wouldn't come. But I'm glad you both came!`` Peach says happily.

Mario and Peach talk for awhile and Luigi notices Daisy a little further. He decides to go and greet her since Mario is occupied with his obvious crush.

``Hey Daisy!`` Luigi says while running up to her.

``Luigi! Nice outfit you got there!`` Daisy says looking at his green and white suit.

``Thanks! Your dress is prettier though..`` Luigi says not making eye contact.

``Aww.. Thank you!`` Daisy says sounding in a really good mood.

The two of them end up talking for awhile, as well.

After the preparations are done with, the group goes in the main hall of the castle where many guests are waiting at the table for the food and cakes. Toadsworth is there cutting the cakes in pieces for the group and guests to enjoy.

The rest of the party goes pretty well and now it's time for the presents.
When the guests leave, Mario, Luigi and Daisy hand over the gifts.

``For you, princess!`` Mario says as he gives her a small box with pink hearts on it.

``Thank you, Mario!`` Peach says as she takes and opens the gift.

Peach looks at the beautiful heart necklace made with pink diamonds. ``I love it, it looks lovely!`` Peach says as she puts on the necklace and looks at it with a red face.

``Oo! That fits you very well!`` Daisy says waiting for her turn to hand over her present. ``A necklace with hearts, huh?`` She says looking at Mario in a way that says ¨You obviously love her¨.

Luigi laughs a little at the remark and goes to give his gift to the princess.

``Thank you Luigi!`` Peach says and opens the gift.

``This looks beautiful! Thank you!- Peach says as her eyes light up.

``No problem! I'm glad you like it!`` Luigi says, happy she likes it.

``My turn!`` Daisy says as she gives her best friend her gift.

Princess Peach opens the present. ``Thanks, Daisy! This pyjamas looks really comfortable!`` She says as she gets the pyjamas out of the present to reveal a pink aesthetic themed pj.

``No problem, I knew you'd like it!`` Daisy says. ``And.. I have a matching pj's with you now!`` The energetic princess says as she shows her orange aesthetic pyjamas with a similar pattern.

``I see. So that's why you got me that.`` Peach says while laughing a little.

``Yeahhh. I knew we'd be doing a sleepover!`` Daisy says confidently.

``That reminds me.. Mario, Luigi? Would you like to join us for the sleepover?`` Peach asks.

``I don't mind! How about you, Mario?`` Luigi asks.

``Sure! Why not?`` Mario says.

After some chatting and celebrating, the group puts on their pj's and head to Peach's room to sleep.
``I got some popcorn!`` Daisy says as she gives everyone some.

They watch a movie called ¨A silent mushroom¨ and it ends up being pretty good!
An hour later, the movie ends and Mario shuts down the TV getting ready to sleep with the others until Daisy, as curious as she is, starts asking questions. ``Hey, Luigi?`` Daisy asks.

``Yeah?``

``Could I meet this Mr.L guy?`` Daisy asks really wanting to meet him.

``Daisy.. Not now, please.`` Mario says as he's trying to rest.

``Awww, c'mon! Just for a few minutes?`` Daisy says impatiently.

``Uh.. Sure! I'll see if he wants to.`` Luigi says as he closes his eyes.

Luigi's eyes open but they're green again, so L agreed.

``Wow.. That's so cool!`` Daisy says as she notices Luigi's eyes.

``Thank you, I know I'm cool`` L says, confidently.

``Pfft.. Luigi would never be that confident so you really are a totally different person, that's crazy!`` Daisy says sounding surprised it's actually true.

``Right?`` Mario says agreeing to the``confident`` comment she made.

``Mhm..`` Mr.L says looking unamused. ``Did you need something?`` He asks, looking at Daisy.

``Nah! I just wanted to meet you!`` Daisy says.

``Alright.. I guess I'll properly introduce myself then.`` L says. ``Call me Mr.L. I like drama and... I hate Mario!`` He says while smirking at Mario.

``Haha..`` Mario says sarcastically.

``I also love drama!`` Daisy says, excited and totally ignoring what he hates.

``Great, I think you're my favorite person here then!`` Mr.L says.

``So, Mr.L.. Have you been nice to Luigi?`` Peach asks sounding ready to hurt him if he did.

L looks around the room and then at Mario who's also staring at him. ``You know what? I'm outta here! Nice meeting you, Daisy.`` Mr.L says as he give Luigi control back.

``Aw man..`` Daisy says sounding unhappy she couldn't ask more questions. ``Hey Luigi, glad you're back!`` She says.

``Hey.. What did he do?`` Luigi asks, worried.

``We just talked.`` Mario says.

``Oh.. that's nice!`` Luigi says, reassured.

``We should probably sleep now, I'm really tired.`` Peach says.

``You're right! Goodnight guys!`` Daisy says and immediately falls asleep.

``Wow.. she was more tired than she looked.`` Mario says, impressed at how quickly Daisy fell asleep.
``Goodnight Mario, Luigi!`` Peach says as she lays down on her bed.

``Goodnight princess!`` The brothers say.

The brothers also tell each other goodnight and fall asleep.

The same night, at Bowser's castle.

``Hey, King Bowser?`` A Red Koopa asks as he goes to him.

``What?`` Bowser responds in an angry tone.

``Kamek wants to see you.`` The Koopa says, used to his king's behavior.

``I'm coming..`` Bowser says, mad that he got defeated, again, by Mario in the last few days.

When Bowser arrives in the room Kamek is in, he sees a giant machine with windows and weird buttons outside of it.

``Oh sire, you're here!`` Kamek says.

``Yeah so, what is it?`` Bowser asks impatiently.

``Heh.. so see this device here?`` Kamek asks.

``Yeah?..``

``I recently finished making it.`` Kamek says.

``Okay.. What is it for?`` Bowser asks, getting impatient.

``It's purpose to make someone's personality go out of control and into our control!`` Kamek says sounding proud.

``I see.. So what should we do with it?`` Bowser asks.

``Did you see the recent news in the Mushroom Kingdom?`` Kamek asks.

``No, I was busy teaching Jr how to use his fire.`` Bowser says not understanding what Kamek's talking about.

``Well.. you know Luigi, right?``

``Who?`` Bowser asks in confusion.

``Sigh.. the green plumber? Mario's brother.`` Kamek says not surprised.

``Oh! Louis. What about him?`` Bowser asks.

``..He has another being living in his mind. Since my machine only works on people like him..`` Kamek says.

``Oh.. Ohh, I understand now! We could mind control him, right?`` Bowser says sounding more excited.
``Yes, indeed! We could get him on our side!`` Kamek says. ``It would be as if he betrayed the Mushroom Kingdom for ours!`` He says, glad he didn't need to explain his plan.

Bowser likes that idea. He can't wait to see the look on their faces.
The King of the Koopas sents out a group of four Koopas that are good at sneaking. He orders them to go to Peach's castle and take the green plumber, Mario's brother ,Louis I think, and to bring him in this exact room. The Koopas nod and head out to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Back in the Mushroom Kingdom, the group is sound asleep. The Koopas are already in the castle sneaking in and trying to follow the plan without any flaws. One of the Koopas found who they're looking for and ties him up carefully to not wake him or his friends.
Outside the castle, the group reunites and goes back to Bowser's Kingdom.
When they arrive in the Dark lands, the Koopas hand over the green plumber and leave the room. Kamek puts Luigi in the machine and wake him up with some noise.

``..Where.. am I?`` Luigi asks, not fully awake.

``You're finally awake! About time.`` Bowser says, interested to see how the device will work.

``That means we can now activate it!`` Kamek says going near the machine and pressing a few buttons.

Luigi looks around and notices where he is but, before he could even try to do anything, the machine activates and he feels as if L is controlling him. ``L? Why are you trying to..?`` Luigi asks but Mr.L answers before he could finish his question.

``I'm not trying to control you. It's that weird machine you're in. It's gonna turn you into their puppet! I can't fight it..`` Mr.L says.

When the machine desactivates, Luigi is taken out of the device and it seems it worked just as planned!

The next day, in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario gets awakened by Daisy who's shaking him a lot. ``Mario! Mario! Wake up! Wake up!`` She says sounding bothered by something.

``Ugh.. I'm awake.. What is it?`` Mario asks.

``Where's Luigi? We looked everywhere in the castle but couldn't find him.`` Daisy says still panicking.

``What do you mean?.. His right..`` Mario says pointing at where Luigi used to be only to see his sleeping bag empty. He looks around him but doesn't see Luigi anywhere. ``He was here last night.. I.. Don't know..`` The red plumber says finally starting to wake up.

``Oh no..`` Peach says sounding distressed.

``What is it?`` Daisy asks, confused.

``Look outside..`` Peach says while pointing at her window.

Mario and Daisy look outside the window. There's a lot of smoke and they see some fire. It's as if they were attacked at night. If this is true then why didn't any guards or Toads wake them up to warn them?

``What.. When did we get..`` Mario asks as he starts to get more and more worried for his brother.

``It seems that it was at night. The guards were tied up so they couldn't warn us of this.`` Peach explains coming back to her room.

``Was it Bowser?`` Daisy asks.

``It wouldn't surprise me if it was.`` Peach says looking down and worried for her citizens and for Luigi.

Mario takes his usual clothes and quickly changes, the princesses do the same. The group heads out of the castle to go and help the Toads and also to untie the guards outside.
As they exit the castle, they meet a hooded figure waiting for them at the entrance.

``Who are you? Are you the one who did this?`` Daisy asks sounding mad at the person.

``Bold of you to assume so quickly. I'm just passing by.`` The person says.

``What are you doing at the entrance of my castle? Only my friends and the guards are aloud here.`` Peach says sounding serious.

``Yeah, now answer my question! Who are you and what are you doing here?`` Daisy asks sounding more mad.

``Heh.. You may call me.. Zeleno!`` The figure says.

As Zeleno introduces himself, Bowser surprises the group and shoots out fire balls at them.

``Of course you're the one behind this.`` Daisy says.

``Bwahaha! Like my new friend? He's quite powerful, you know?`` Bowser says as he's laughing.

``I'm not your friend, I'm just helping you for my own good.`` Zeleno says.

``Right, I forgot you don't like being told that. Anyways, let's give them chaos! Bwahaha!`` Bowser says as he and Zeleno get ready to fight.

``You won't get away with this, Bowser.`` Mario says as he uses his firebrand to fight them.

The fight goes on for awhile, Daisy gets tired of not being able to approach the hooded figure to land a hit on him and Mario manages to hurt Bowser a little but he doesn't seem fazed by it.

``Why are you doing this, Zeleno? You would get more recognition if you fought alongside us.`` Daisy asks, still trying to hit him.

``Recognition? I never got any! I once did fight for this Kingdom but nobody cared! Nobody!`` Zeleno says sounding a bit sad but also angry. ``You know what I got from helping you? Nothing good, only insults. Your red friend got all the praise. I did defeat countless foes but Mario got the recognition, not me.`` He says.

Daisy gets closer as the figure was distracted with his speech and manages to pull his hood off and land a hit. The first thing she sees is Zeleno's mitch-matched eyes. One eye is green and the other is blue. She takes a good look at him and sees a familiar face. ``Luigi?..`` Daisy says, surprised.

Mario manages to make Bowser fall and holds him on the ground. He then looks at Daisy and Peach's side to see if they're doing okay. The red plumber then sees that Daisy managed to land a hit on the hooded figure but he doesn't notice who that is since he isn't at the right perpective.

He then hears Daisy asking Zeleno something. ``Luigi? Is that you?`` Daisy asks not 100% sure it's him.

``Guess you know now. I wasn't gonna tell you but I have always been on Bowser's side the entire time.. heh.`` Luigi says.

``Did I hear that right?`` Mario thinks to himself. ``I must be hearing things!`` He convinces himself.

The hero ties up Bowser and goes to the princesses to help out with Zeleno. As he walks there, the hooded figure puts his hood back on before Mario could see his face.

``Daisy, are you okay?`` Mario asks Daisy who's not moving and looks shocked.

``He's..`` Daisy says but can't seem to finish her sentence.

Zeleno unties Bowser and Kamek appears near them. ``Sire, I got what we needed!`` Kamek says while holding a question block that looks unusual.

``Good job, Kamek! Now teleport us back to my Castle.`` Bowser orders him as he grins at the red plumber.

``Cya, losers!`` Zeleno says as he gets teleported away with Bowser and Kamek.

Peach heals Mario and Daisy as best as she can and the group sits down to regain their strength.

As they are resting in the castle, Daisy comes near Peach who's still healing Mario. ``Hey.. guys?`` Daisy asks sounding tense.

``What is it, Daisy?`` Mario asks.

``Is something wrong?`` Peach asks noticing Daisy's serious look.

``You know that Zeleno guy we fought just now?`` Daisy starts.

``Bowser's new sidekick?`` Peach asks not knowing where this is going.

``What about him?`` Mario asks, still mad at Bowser for doing this.

``Well.. that guy.. He's..`` Daisy tries to spit it out but doesn't know if they'll believe her, after all Luigi isn't evil, right?

``Just say it already..`` Mario says, impatient.

``That guy's Luigi..`` Daisy says quietly but not quiet enough.

``What..`` Peach asks making sure she heard it right.

``Are you saying my brother's evil?``Mario says not believing a word.

``I.. Maybe.. I mean he told me himself. His been working with Bowser the entire time..`` Daisy says sounding stressed since they don't seem to belive her.

``I don't belive it! Luigi would never betray the Kingdom like that!`` Mario says sounding furious at Daisy for assuming or lying.

``Daisy.. Are you sure about this? He could be lying to you..`` Peach asks.

``Yes! I'm sure! I even saw his face..`` Daisy says, shouting and sounding distressed. ``Sorry.. I just..`` She says more calmly.

``It's fine.. I just can't believe it. Luigi, being evil? It makes no sense.`` Peach says, not being able to believe this is truly happening.

``Princess... I don't think that's Lu.. He's so nice and he would help anyone even if it meant to hurt himself.`` Mario says, not sure what to believe.

``You're right! Luigi is so kind hearted but.. Zeleno.. or Luigi, told me about how he was tired of never getting recognition and that he only got insults and laughter instead of it..`` Daisy explains.

``Oh no.. I can't believe I didn't notice earlier..`` Peach says in a sad tone.

``Peach.. It's not your fault. I'm his brother! I should've done something.. He even told me about it and I didn't do a thing..`` Mario says, trying to stay calm.

``It's too late now..`` Daisy says looking down.

``I'm sure we could get him back on our side.. right?`` Peach asks, trying to reassure her friends.

``We shouldn't give up! I know Luigi better than anyone and he wouldn't do such things unless he had a good reason too.`` Mario says sounding a bit more positive.

``You're right!`` Daisy says.

``Maybe... Bowser's forcing him to do it.`` Peach suggests.

``Yeah.. so we still have a chance!`` Daisy says with a more cheery tone.

``Hey.. Daisy? Did you notice anything different when you saw his face?`` Mario asks.

``Huh.. Now that I think about it his eyes! They were different..`` Daisy says remembering Luigi's mitch-matched eyes.

``Different.. how?`` Peach asks.

``His one of his eyes was green and the other was a greyish blue.`` Daisy says.

``Green? Doesn't that happen if Mr.L's in control?`` Peach asks Mario.

``Yeah! But both his eyes not just one.`` Mario says.

``So.. another person's controlling him?`` Daisy asks.

``That is a possibility..`` Peach says.

``I think I have an idea!`` Mario says while his face lights up.

``We're listening.`` Daisy says.

After Mario explains his plan to the princesses, the group gets ready to head out and put Mario's plan into action. They head up to a rocky mountain and knock on the door of a big building with a big antenna.

``Yes, do come in!`` E. Gadd says.

``Thanks professor!`` Mario says while letting the princesses enter before him and going in.

``So.. What is it you wanted to discuss?`` E. Gadd asks.

``It's about Luigi.`` Mario starts.

``What about him?`` E. Gadd asks.

Mario explains their situation and E. Gadd looks shocked. ``Luigi being evil?.. No.. no.. there's no way..`` E. Gadd says in surprise.

``You're right! There's no way, we actually think he's under control.`` Daisy says.

``I see.. Then I have just what you need!`` E. Gadd says while guiding them into another room. E. Gadd takes a weird looking book. ``This is what you need!`` He says while giving the book to Mario.

``A.. book?`` Daisy asks.

``Not any normal book! This is a machine made from a special book I found while adventuring in my young days.`` E. Gadd says.

``How does it work, professor?`` Peach asks looking at the book.

``Well.. This is the kontrol na uma machine. It's based off of a research I made.`` E. Gadd explains sounding proud of his creation, as always.

``Wow..`` Daisy says as if she totally understood all of that.

``How do we use it?`` Mario asks.

``To activate this machine you have to first press the blue button on the first page and you should then see some blue lasers directing themselves to the person affected. When the person is hit with the lasers, the person with the tome has to repeat three times ¨egredi, egredi nunc!¨ and then it should work!`` E. Gadd explains.

``But?..`` Mario says knowing it doesn't come without risk.

``What do you mean? He explained it.`` Daisy asks.

``Yes, but it usually has some side effects.`` Peach explains to Daisy.

``Oh..`` Daisy says, not happy about that.

``Heh.. Well, you probably won't like it, young fellas.`` E. Gadd says.

``What is it?`` Mario asks knowing he won't like it.

``He could get badly injured to the point it costs his life..`` E. Gadd says.

``What?!?`` The group shouts in shock.

``You could always revive him with a 1-up but he might still deal with lots of pain, especially in his head.`` E. Gadd says.

``I don't know about doing this..`` Peach says worried.

``You have any better idea then?`` Daisy asks also not sure what to do.

``I think we should do it.. I don't like it either but.. We have no other choice.`` Mario says making sure he has a few 1-ups in his bag. ``I have plenty of them so we're all set.`` He says preparing to leave E. Gadd's lab.

``Wait! I'll accompany you!`` E. Gadd says following the group outside with a big bag. Who knows what's in it?

The group descends the mountain and as they enter Toad Town, they notice a pleasant smell.

``Hey guys!`` Viridis says.

``Viridis? What are you doing here?`` Mario asks still a bit mad at what he did.

``I heard what happened with this hooded guy. I thought I'd help to make it up to you!`` Viridis says as he continues cook above a camp fire.

``I see. Thank you Viridis! We'll need all the help we can get!`` Peach says sitting next to the fire.

``I guess I'll tolerate you for now.`` Daisy says going to sit next to her best friend.

Mario sits down and so does the professor. The Green Toad hands them some of his grilled fish with herbs he got from town. The group eats and seem to love Viridis's cooking.

After telling Viridis their plan, the green Toad hands them some sleeping bags so that they can all rest since tomorrow is the day the plan will be put into action. They all wish each other good night and sleep near the camp fire.

The next morning, it's barely sunrise and Mario gets awakened by a noise near him. He notices the professor preparing his bags and eating his breakfast.

``Good morning, young fella!`` E. Gadd greets as he finishes his meal.

``Morning.. What are you doing up this early?`` Mario asks as he goes near him to also eat.

``I don't usually sleep much so you could says this is the most I've slept in awhile!`` E. Gadd says cheerfully.

``I forgot his crazy about his inventions..`` Mario thinks to himself.

The others wake up, eat and prepare.

``Okay so you remember what to do, right?`` Mario asks the others.

``Yeah!`` Viridis and Daisy say.

``Yes!`` Peach and E. Gadd say.

``Alright! Let's gather our things and get going to Bowser's Kingdom.`` Mario says pointing in the direction they have to go.

Everyone takes their bags and things and start heading to Bowser's Kingdom.

On the way there, the group takes occasional breaks to either eat or just relax. They then continue their long walk.

It takes a few hours but the group has finally arrived at the destination where they start to put their plan in action.

E. Gadd takes out a few devices to detect if there's any danger nearby but doesn't see anything so it's safe to begin.

``Alright! Let's do this!`` Mario says preparing the tome.

``Let's get Luigi back!`` Daisy says sounding as ready as she always is for a fight.

``We got this!`` Peach says.

``We have to get him back! I still need to repay him.`` Viridis says getting his power-ups ready to put to use.

``There's no danger so we can start the plan!`` E. Gadd says taking out another one of his machines.

The others nod and start walking into the Kingdom and fight the guards, well guarding it.

As they enter, a few guards start attacking them. Daisy uses her super-strength to knock out some of them and Mario takes a fire flower to fire at them.

While Mario and Daisy distract them, Peach, Viridis and E. Gadd head further into the Kingdom into an abandoned building where they try to detect where Luigi is at the moment.

``Seems he's headed for us.`` E. Gadd says preparing the tome.

``Wait.. Doesn't Mario have the tome?`` Viridis asks.

``Oh, he has a fake. That way they'll think we're unable to undo the mind control.`` E. Gadd says showing the real book looking machine.

``I see..`` Peach says.

The door opens suddenly and the hooded figure heads towards them.

``Okay, you fellas distract him while I activate the tome.`` E. Gadd says to Viridis and Peach.

``Alright!`` They both say.

``If it isn't the old professor. Why are you even on their side? You would be properly rewarded if you worked for Bowser!`` Luigi says.

``Haha.. I see now.. You really are under control! Luigi would never say such things.`` E. Gadd says hiding the tome.

``Is that the lie they came up with? Sure.. believe it if you want.`` Luigi says.

``Luigi! Don't do this, please..`` Viridis says going in front of the green plumber.

``What are you doing here? And after betraying us?`` Luigi says staring at Viridis.

``H-huh?`` Viridis says sounding scared.

``Luigi..`` Peach starts.

``You're one to talk! You literally betrayed the kingdom, even though this isn't really you.`` Viridis says.

``Viridis.. This isn't the moment!`` Peach says trying to make Viri remember the plan.

``But, princess!`` Viridis says.

``Egredi, egredi, nunc.. Egredi, egredi, nunc.. Egredi, egredi, nunc!`` E. Gadd says as he presses the blue button.

A blue light emerges from the tome and directs itself to Luigi.

``Ooo!`` Viridis says amazed by the beautiful light.

``What.. What is this?!?`` Luigi asks as he gets hit with the light.

``Princess! Quick!`` E. Gadd says.

``On it!`` Peach says as she pins Luigi down and ties him up.

Luigi tries to fight back but ends up passing out.

``Did it work?`` Viridis asks looking at the professor.

``It should have!`` E. Gadd says. ``Now.. to check if he'll need a 1-up..`` The professor says as he aproaches Luigi and verifies his state. ``...He's.. fine?`` He says surprised it didn't hurt him.

``No injuries or anything?`` Viridis asks also surprised.

``Something feels.. off..`` Peach says trying to see what it is.

``Young fellas! Move away from him!`` E. Gadd says while also getting away.

``What? Why?`` Viridis asks still not moving.

``Quickly!`` E. Gadd says.

Before Viridis and Peach could move away, Luigi wakes up.

``Oh! Luigi! I'm glad you're..`` Peach says but gets hit by something.

``Princess?!? Are you okay?`` Viridis says as Peach falls to the ground.

``Viridis! Take the princess and leave!`` E. Gadd says preparing the tome again.

``What? But what about you, professor?`` Viridis asks in worry.

``I'll be fine, I'll deal with him! Just give the princess this mushroom and go!`` E. Gadd says while tossing a mushroom to Viridis.

Viridis nods and runs out of the building to a safer place.

``Now to deal with you..`` E. Gadd says looking at Luigi.

Viridis runs to where Mario and Daisy should be by now. Before continuing, he gives Peach the mushroom and her wound heals before he could blink. ``Princess, Princess? Can you hear me?`` Viridis asks worried this didn't work.
``Vir..i..dis?`` Peach says as she wakes up.

``Oh! Thank the mushrooms! You're okay.`` Viridis says as he hugs the princess out of joy.

``I'm fine! But where.. are we? Where's the professor?`` Peach asks as she looks around only to see nobody's around except for them.

``The professor.. He told me to heal you and run to find the others.`` Viridis explains.

``But why? Is everything okay? Did the tome free Luigi?`` Peach asks hoping for something positive.

Viridis shakes his head. ``No.. Luigi is still under control and he injured you! The professor said he has it under control though..`` He says, worried for him.

``We can't leave him there alone.. We have to go back and help him!`` Peach says getting up and ready to head back.

``No, princess! He told me to get you to Mario and Daisy, we can't go back!`` Viridis says trying to stop her.

``I'm sorry, Viridis! I'm going back with or without you. Go help Mario and Daisy but I need to make sure the professor's okay!`` Peach says, running back into the building.

``For the love of mushrooms.. Fine, I'm coming!`` The Green Toad says as he follows the princess.

The both of them enter the building only to see E. Gadd on the floor and Luigi standing near him.

``You can't do this, Luigi!`` E. Gadd says, trying to get back up.

``I can! Give this book to me and I'll let you go.`` Luigi says, pointing the tome E. Gadd has in hand.

``Never!`` E. Gadd says trying to press the blue button and use it.

Before Luigi could do anything, Peach quickly rushes and grabs the tome.

``W-what?`` E. Gadd says suprised they came back.

``We couldn't leave you here by yourself, professor! It was Peach's idea though..`` Virids says.

``Egredi, egredi, nunc! Egredi, egredi, nunc! Egredi, egredi, nunc!`` Peach says while pressing the red button. Wait red button? Wasn't it supposed to be the blue one? Nevermind that.

A red light shines out of the tome and it seems to be affecting Luigi this time.

``Princess? Did you press the right button?`` E. Gadd asks worried since the light isn't blue.

``I'm not sure..`` Peach says not remembering which button she pressed.

``You pressed the red one, princess! I think it was supposed to be the blue one..`` Viridis says, scared of what's gonna happen now.

``Oh no...`` E. Gadd says while getting up and checking on Luigi. ``Not good..`` He says, sounding distressed.

``What's wrong?`` Peach asks.
``Quick! Do you fellas have a 1-up?`` E. Gadd asks looking at the both of them.

``Not me, sorry!`` Viridis says while looking in his bags.

``I have one!`` Peach says while giving it to the professor.

``Oh! Thank goodness!`` E. Gadd says as he takes the green mushroom (Not Viridis, the 1-up!) and gives it to Luigi.

``Wait... was he..`` Peach asks realizing what this means.

``Yes, but he should be fine now.`` E. Gadd says, bandaging Luigi up.

``Oof.. You scared me for a second..`` Viridis says as he takes a deep breath.

E. Gadd takes Luigi and puts him somewhere more comfortable to rest.

A few minutes prior, Mario and Daisy manage to defeat many guards and go further into the Dark Lands. While rushing toward the building the others went to, they then see a bright blue light, but when they open their eyes, the both of them are in an unfamiliar place.

``Where are we?`` Daisy asks looking around the place.

``This looks like..`` Before Mario could finish, a loud noise is heard.

The big gates open and Bowser comes in the room they're in. ``If it isn't Mario!`` Bowser says, coming towards them.

``Bowser..`` Mario says while looking angry at him.

``You! How did we get here?`` Daisy asks.

``How you ask? This is my castle, you know?`` Bowser says as he prepares to fight.

Kamek comes in the room to assist Bowser. ``Allow me to help you, king Bowser.`` Kamek says, appearing infront of them. ``You fell right into my trap!`` He says.

``T-trap?!?`` They both say.

``Yes! I set a detector to make sure that if anything goes wrong you would get teleported in here.`` Kamek says.

``Great!`` Daisy says sarcastically.

Mario and Daisy get ready to fight those two Koopas.

Back to the others, Luigi wakes up and his eyes are normal again.

``Luigi? You're okay!`` Peach says going to hug him.

``Princess? Where are we? What happened?`` Luigi asks confused.

``Young feller, I'm glad you're awake! Do you feel any pain?`` E. Gadd asks.

``A little.. Nothing bad though! What happened?`` Luigi asks again.

``It's a pretty long story but I'll make it short!`` Viridis says. ``So you were mind controlled by Bowser and you attacked us and the Mushroom Kingdom. Thankfully, the professor had a special tome like machine that freed you from it but we almost lost you and the princess gave you a 1-up so that's why you might feel pain right now!`` The green Toad explains looking at Luigi in worry.

``Viri.. You're here too?`` Luigi asks not having noticed he's old friend's presence.

``Yeah! I know, I did something bad but I helped you to make up for it! Even if I didn't do that, I would've still helped you.`` Viridis says smiling.

``Thank you! I already forgave you since the day you apologized though!`` Luigi says also smiling.

``I'm glad you're okay! I got worried when you were suddenly nowhere to be found.`` Peach says pulling away from the hug.

``I'm sorry for attacking you, princess.. I remember a little of what happened now.`` Luigi says looking apologetic.

``It was out of your control, no need to worry!`` Peach says with a soft smile on her face.

``What happened though?`` Viridis asks.

``What happened indeed! We know Bowser did some sort of mind control but how? I didn't know he was compable of such a thing.`` E. Gadd asks looking at the green plumber who looks tired.

``After falling asleep at the sleepover, I suddenly woke up in Bowser's castle in the middle of the night. I was inside of a weird looking machine and... They mentioned wanting to control my mind and it being easier because of the other me.`` Luigi explains.

``The other you? Were they talking about Mr.L?`` Peach asks.

``I.. think so!`` Luigi says.

``So it's my fault you got kidnapped in the first place..`` Viridis says knowing he was the one who revealed this information to the news and that the news could be watched from other Kingdoms too.

``It's fine! You made a mistake, everyone does.`` Luigi says reassurily.

``Don't blame yourself for this! I know you just wanted to help other people with this condition.`` Peach says trying to make Viridis feel better.

``Thanks you guys! But I am still at fault for this..`` Viridis says, feeling guilty.

``Then make up for it by defeating Bowser with the others!`` E. Gadd says preparing his bags.

``Where are you going, professor?`` Luigi asks.

``I have to go back to the lab. Now that you're okay, I shouldn't be needed anymore!`` E. Gadd says, preparing to exit the house.

``Wait! I am gonna help them but you should too! Your machines can make this easier for all of us!`` Viridis says trying to prevent the professor from leaving.

``Here, take this. It will help you weaken the enemy! I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly but I have something to attend to.`` E. Gadd says giving them a machine that looks like a mushroom.

``Just press the red button to weaken the enemy and the green one to heal eachother from injuries like a mushroom would do!`` E. Gadd says and leaves afterwards.

They watch him leave and pack their things to go join Mario and Daisy.
The group is outside but there's no sight of them.

``Aren't they supposed to be here? It's been a few hours now..`` Viridis asks getting worried of what this could mean. ``You don't think Bowser got them?`` He asks starting to panic.

``If he did.. We have to go and save them!`` Peach says.

``We shouldn't go without a plan though, it might be a trap.`` Luigi says also worried for them.

``What should we do?`` Viri asks.

``Hmm.. I remember a secret passage but it's kinda blurry.. I think.. It was under this burnt bush!`` Luigi says.

``That's good information! You have a good memory, Luigi.- Peach says sounding more calm now that they know where to go. ``I think we should take these fire flowers, I brought some for emergencies and now would be a good moment to use them!`` She says showing a bag full of them.

``Great thinking, princess!`` Viridis says as he and Luigi take at least two of them and put them in their bags.

They make a plan, enter Bowser's castle through the secret passage and to then throw a bunch of fire with the help of the fire flowers to go through the guards.
When inside, the group succeeds and goes further into the dark castle.

``I hear something..`` Peach says while looking around to try and identify where the noise is coming from.

``Look! Above us!`` Viridis says as he points the roof full of cracks.

``It looks like we could break the roof easily with something hard..`` Luigi says looking around for any rocks or bricks that could help them.

``Found something!`` Viridis says as he shows the bricks he found near a destroyed wall.

``Let's throw these at the cracks.`` Peach says as her and the green plumber get a few bricks and prepare to throw them.

The group successfully break the roof and notice some commotion's going on up there.

A few seconds before Peach, Luigi and Viridis broke the roof, Mario and Daisy are out of mushrooms to heal and the situation isn't looking well.

``Why am I not able to defeat Bowser as easily as usual?`` Mario thinks to himself wondering why he's been feeling weaker since they arrived here.

``My attacks aren't doing much.. What should we do?`` Daisy asks in worry.

``I.. I'm not sure..`` Mario says sounding stressed.

``Bwahaha! Your attacks are useless in here! This room is full of Kamek's magic to reduce your powers but increase ours.`` Bowser says laughing at them.

``Sire.. You didn't have to reveal that. Though he is right! You guys are too weak to fight now.`` Kamek says preparing another attack with his magic.

``The only thing we can do for now is to avoid these attacks. I'm sure the others will come to help!`` Mario says preparing to run around to avoid Kamek's magic.

``I guess you're right.. I'm not good at avoiding though.. I'm usually a fighter.`` Daisy says looking tired from this long fight.

The both of them hear some loud noise.

``What's going on?`` Daisy asks trying to find the source of the noise.

``From.. below us?!?`` Mario says as he grabs Daisy far from the now broken floor.

The floor breaks and three people jump up to their level.

``Lu.. Luigi?`` Mario asks in surprise.

``Mario! You look hurt..`` Luigi says as he runs to his brother with a few mushrooms.

``Guys! You did it!`` Daisy says relieved to see Luigi being back to normal.

``Yeah! Here you go, princess! A mushroom!`` Viridis says as he gives Daisy a mushroom to heal her injuries.

``Thank you!`` Daisy says as she eats it.

``Bro... You're back to normal.`` Mario says after he's done eating the mushroom.

``Yeah.. Sorry for hurting you guys.. I.. We weren't ourselves!`` Luigi starts but then Mr.L finishes.

``Mr.L... Glad you're good too!`` Daisy says.

``I only took control since he's too weak to continue fighting.`` Mr. L says trying to hide the fact he wants to help them.

``Is Luigi alright?`` Mario asks to L.

``Relax! His fineeee.. I know you're attached to him or whatever..`` Mr.L says as a joke.

``Very funny..`` Mario says looking mad at Mr.L.

``Guys! This isn't the time! We have a situation ahead of us.`` Daisy says pointing at Bowser and Kamek.

``Cool.. Are we finally relevant again?`` Bowser says going to them.

``Wait.. How is Louis back?`` Bowser asks looking at Luigi.

``My machine is irreversible.. How is he back to his actual self?`` Kamek asks, surprised someone was able to defy such a power.

``Why should I tell you weirdos? All you did was cause harm to us!`` Mr. L says glaring at the two of them.

``Us? Oh, I see.. You're that alter ego of his I heard about on the news. Nice finally meeting you!`` Kamek says with a grin on his face.

``Man.. stupid green mushroom! Thanks for not saying anything about me.. really!`` Mr.L says sarcastically.

``Sorry..`` Viridis says sounding guilty.

``Whatever, let's just get this over with.`` Mr.L says.

``I brought many fire flowers! We could use them.`` Peach says as she gives everyone some.

``Thanks Peach, you're the best!`` Daisy says as she uses the flower.

``Thank you, princess!`` Mario says also taking one.

They all take the flowers and start throwing fire balls.

``I don't need those, I've got my awesome powers!`` Mr.L says as he uses his green lightning abilities.

``Kamek! Use your magic, now!`` Bowser says.

``Yes, sir!`` Kamek says.

The magi koopa charges a giant fire ball and launches it at the group.

``Okay.. Now what do we do?`` Daisy asks looking at that enormous fire ball.

``We charge at them before they can get us!`` Mario says as he runs towards Kamek.

Daisy and Peach follow Mario's lead and throw fire balls at Kamek from all around him. Kamek, unprepared, falls down.

``Sorry, sire.. I failed! I'll give you the rest of the magic I have left.`` He says as he gives it the his King.

``I'll beat them for sure!`` Bowser says as he laughs.

``Sure!.. Keep telling yourself that! Maybe it'll turn into reality if you keep repeating enough times!`` Mr.L says, behind him, hitting Bowser with his green lightning.

``Argh.. You again? You're more annoying than green stache.`` Bowser says trying to reach L.

Viridis throws fire balls at Bowser from a higher place. ``Take that you ugly turtle!`` The green Toad says with a smile on his face as he attacks the `ugly turtle`.

``Ugly?? Haha.. good one!`` Mr.L says laughing behind Bowser's back.

``..You guys will regret this!!`` Bowser says sounding furious. I mean when isn't he?

The fight against Bowser ends after a few minutes and Mario so long you Bowser's him into the sky.

``Oof... Finally over with this fight!`` Daisy says laying down.

``Tell me about it! I hate this guy.`` Mr.L says sounding mad.

``You were really cool out there, L! You still have Luigi's lightning but it's green when you're the one in control.. Interesting!`` Viridis says still interested in alter egos, I see!

``Thanks but your attack was cool too, I guess. You aren't as stupid as I thought.`` Mr.L says, amused.

``Uh... thank.. you?`` Viri says not knowing if he should take it as a compliment or insult.

``Mr.L.. is Luigi okay?`` Mario asks.

``Oh, him? He's just fine. But if he were to control his body at the moment, he'd be out cold.`` Mr.L says.

``I see... Are you okay? You look tired.`` Mario asks.

``I feel kinda tired too. It must be cause I was in control for too long. Catch him!`` Mr.L says as he gives control back to it's original owner.

Mario quickly catches his little brother and gives him a mushroom to heal his injuries.

``He'll be fine, don't worry!.`` Daisy says trying to reassure him.

``I know.. I just can't help it sometimes.`` Mario says sounding tired as well.

``I think we should head back to the Mushroom Kingdom. We had a long day.`` Peach says taking her bags and helping Viridis on his feet.

``You're right! I was glad to help you in another adventure, Mario.`` Viridis says also taking his bag.

``We should go now, I'll hold Luigi! You should take it easy.`` Daisy says as Mario passes his brother to her.

``Thank you..`` Mario says.

``No problem!`` Daisy says holding Luigi on her back.

The heroes leave the Dark Lands and finally head home.
The princesses go to Peach's castle to sleep, Viridis goes to his house with all his bags and the brothers head home to rest as well.

Chapter Text

Mario enters his house with Luigi now on his back and puts him on the couch since it's closest place he can put him.

Mario looks at his brother in worry, he hasn't woken up the whole time and he's wondering if he'll ever awake. ``I'll stay by his side. If he wakes up, he'll probably have many questions.`` The red plumber thinks to himself taking a sleeping bag to lay near the couch.

The next day, Mario gets awakened by the bright sun now shinning through the windows of the living room.

He gets up suddenly to check on his brother who isn't on the couch. ``..Luigi? Luigi?!?`` Mario shouts trying to look for him.

``Mario, you're awake! I made us some breakfast!`` Luigi says while giving his big brother some of his delicious looking eggs.

Mario stares at the eggs in confusion. How is Luigi so energetic today? Does he even remember what happened yesterday?

``Thank you, Lu! How are you feeling?`` Mario asks, worried.

``No problem, bro and I'm fine, how about you?`` Luigi says while smiling.

``I'm good too! Do you remember what happened yesterday, though?`` Mario asks.

``Yesterday?..`` Luigi says trying to think. ``Hmm.. Oh! The fight with Bowser?`` He asks.

``Yeah.. You were mind controlled by him, remember?`` Mario asks in a serious tone.

``Oh, yeah. I remember that! Why are you asking, bro?`` Luigi asks in confusion.

``I... thought you'd be more affected by it..`` Mario says looking at Luigi in worry.

``I'm trying to move past it..`` Luigi says looking a bit stressed.

``Sorry, Lu! I probably brought back those memories..`` Mario says now feeling guilty about reminding him of it.

``It's fine, you didn't mean to!`` Luigi says in a happier tone.

``Is L also okay? He kinda blacked out on us.`` Mario asks.

``He did? Well he's fine! We talked when I woke up and he explained what happened.`` Luigi says.

``Sorry I didn't hear you wake up... I slept there to be the one to explain the situation to you..`` Mario says sounding apologetic.

``Don't worry about it, bro! I didn't want to wake you up since you looked really tired so it's my fault you didn't get to explain..`` Luigi says.

Mario goes to Luigi and hugs him. ``Okay.. We shouldn't blame ourselves for things! Mistakes happen.`` He says as he hugs his brother ``Glad his okay!`` He thinks.

``Heh.. If only it were that easy..`` Luigi says hugging his brother back.

After this, in the next few days, Luigi went for a few check ups to make sure he was okay and healthy. He also went to E. Gadd's lab to check if the mind control magic was completely gone and, thankfully, it was.

They all healed and made sure to check up on each other. Peach invited everyone who helped to eat a big cake she made, I'm kinda jealous.

``Hey L? Want to try some cake?`` Luigi asks.

``Does it taste like chocolate?`` Mr.L asks.

``Yeah! Even better.`` Luigi says knowing L has a chocolate addiction.

Mr.L controls Luigi and looks at the cake the way a cat would look at his food. ``This is amazing!`` He says out loud, gaining the attention of the others around him.

``Mr.L?`` Mario says noticing Luigi's eyes.

``Heh! Now we know who enjoyed this cake the most!`` Daisy says laughing a little.

After they finish the cake, Daisy goes to Luigi. ``Hey, Luigi? Can I talk to you, in private?`` She asks looking serious.

``Uh.. Sure!`` Luigi says a bit scared since Daisy looks serious.

``I just wanted to know.. Are you okay?`` Daisy asks looking worried.

``I.. I'm okay! Why are you asking?`` Luigi asks, confused.

``Well.. When you were controlled by Bowser, you said you never got any recognition for many things you've done and I was wondering if it's true..`` Daisy asks.

``Oh.. I said that?`` Luigi asks surprised.

``Mhm.``

``...``Luigi stays silent and doesn't know what to say.

``Sorry! You don't have to tell me but I want to make sure you're okay..``

``It's fine! I'll tell you..`` Luigi says sounding a bit sad. ``Yeah, It's true..`` He says.

``..It is?!?`` Daisy asks in surprise.

``Yes.. It makes me feel like... Never mind!`` Luigi says in a sad tone.

``What is it? You can tell me, I promise to not say anything if that's what you want!`` Daisy says trying to convince him to finish.

``Those insults and words.. It make me feel.. Like nothing I do will ever be good enough..`` Luigi says smiling even though there are tears in his eyes.

``Luigi..`` Daisy's shocked at those words. She can't believe he'd down grade himself like that.

Daisy goes toward Luigi and hugs him. ``You are really strong for not giving up from all these insults! That's why I admire you.. In my eyes, you're the greatest and that will never change!`` Daisy says hugging Luigi tightly.

``D-Daisy.. Thank you..`` Luigi says, failing to hold the tears. ``I needed to hear that..`` He says.

``I will always be by your side and I'm sure it's the same for Mario and Peach!`` Daisy says.

``You're right.. Thanks, Daisy!`` Luigi says with a smile on his face.

They both pull away from the hug and smile at each other.

``We should probably head back to the others. Will you be okay?`` Daisy asks.

``Yeah! I'll come with you.`` Luigi says while wiping his tears off with his sleeves.

The both of them go back to Peach and Mario who are sitting near each other and watching the TV.

``Lu, You're back!`` Mario says, happy to see his brother.

``Yeah! I just needed something from him. Sorry for taking too long!`` Daisy says as she goes sitting next to Peach.

``Hey bro!`` Luigi says sitting near Mario.

``Luigi.. Are you alright? Your eyes are red.`` Peach asks looking worried.

``I'm fine. Let's just watch the movie!`` Luigi says trying to avoid further questions.

The group watches the movie and all end up falling asleep but this time without Luigi disappearing in the morning.
Everything is finally peaceful but we all know Bowser will come up with something new at some point.
