Chapter Text

Purgatory

The last thing she could remember was lying in a hospital bed next to Oliver as she confessed her feelings to him. But now she wasn't in a hospital or in a bed; rather, she was lying on the floor of what seemed to be a cold, inosphite island.

She lost her life trying to stop the criminal Damian Dark. She should have been dead, but the strange feeling and the cold running through her body didn't feel like she was dead. But if she wasn't dead, then where was she? What was this place? Was it heaven or hell?

Her eyes fell on the photo she'd taken before Oliver rode in the Gambit. Her eyes filled with tears; she wouldn't see her family or her ollie again.

"You're not dead," a voice behind her mentioned, levitating in the air.

Laurel jumped at the sound and immediately turned to see the figure of a being wrapped in a green cloak and hood.

"Who are you?" she said, raising her fist in a defensive position. She couldn't make out the figure of the being beneath the hood.

"In all my years of existence, I've been called many names," he replied, descending to her position and placing his cold hand on her shoulders. "I am the Spectre, the Wrath of God."

She just looked at her, confused, not knowing what to say. The cold breeze hit her skin, pulling her out of her confusion.

"So, Spectre, do you know where I am?" he mentioned before turning his head to look around.

The Spectre nodded in agreement. The hood slowly began to fade, revealing his face.

"You're not dead. But you're not alive either. This is purgatory," Oliver mentioned.

Laurel's eyes widened when she saw the love of her life in front of her. Her first reaction was to hug him immediately, even ignoring the question swirling around in her head: What was he doing here?

Oliver returned the hug, smiling with the same excitement of feeling the warmth of his body again.

She pulled away from the hug and asked the question she needed to know.

"What are you doing here, Ollie?" she asked, looking at him with a look of concern. She feared the worst; he'd also died.

"Long story, Dinah," he sighed before the hood and robe took over her body again. "I'm here to give you a second chance, Dinah Laurel." Lance, you must return to the world of the living."

Laurel was confused by Oliver's words.

But before that, you need to know what things are like now, in this new world. He mentioned:

"New world, Ollie?" She frowned, unable to understand Oliver's words.

"Our world is no longer as you remember it," he mentioned before placing his hand on her head, showing each new change that had taken place on Prime Earth. Even many people who died before her were still there, alive. Tommy Merlyn, Moira Queen, among many others.

In this new reality, she was married to Tommy Merlyn. Nyssa al-Ghul had a daughter with Oliver on Ra's al-Ghul's orders.

Laurel's body trembled completely as she observed this new reality created by Oliver and the paragons.

"This... This is a lot to process, Ollie," she said in a shaky tone, trying to comprehend everything.

"One last thing, Laurel," I mentioned, grabbing her hand and squeezing it gently. "When I lost you, you said I was the love of your life and that you weren't mine."

Laurel looked at him intently, remembering those same words before she died.

"You were wrong. You will always be the love of my life, always." She lowered her hood, her expression sad. "Forgive me for making you believe otherwise."

"Ollie!" Laurel said before lunging at him and kissing him.

Oliver pulled away from her before smiling at her.

"Well, it's time to go back to the others," he said.

"I love you, Ollie," she replied with tears in her eyes.

Star city
Barry, along with Team Flash, Kara, and some members of the Deo who knew Oliver Queen, Sara, and the Legends, gather in Star City to honor the memory of the man who saved the universe. Yes, it's the fifth anniversary of the end of the Crisis that united the greatest heroes who bravely fought against the Anti-Monitor, managing to defeat him and return peace to the only remaining Earth.

Mía breathed slowly as she walked toward her father's grave with a bouquet of flowers in her hands. She slowly kneels to place the flowers on the headstone. She had never met him, hadn't even been lucky enough to exchange a single word, and all she knew was because she had accidentally heard a story about him.

The next to walk and place the flowers on the headstone was the Central City speedster Barry Allen.

Countless times at night, he would lie in bed or simply stare at the ceiling or the walls. He still felt remorse. He lived tormented by the thought that he could have done more to save the man who had inspired him to become a hero and who had sacrificed everything for him.

Kara took the flowers and walked toward the grave with a sad expression. He had sacrificed his life to save her, after all. Their relationship hadn't started well; Oliver didn't trust her, but in the end, he gave his life for her.

Sara was the most affected; she couldn't forget the death of the man who changed her destiny.

She constantly longed to relive the sensations she felt patrolling the city with Oliver. The cool wind caressing her face, the pride flooding her as she stopped criminals. She loved the feeling of being a hero, of doing right by the city.

"Sara?" a soft voice said, causing everyone to turn toward the source of the voice.

Sara froze as she saw the figure of the woman standing before her with a cheerful smile. The first thing that came to mind was her sister's doppelganger from Earth 2. But the more she looked at her, the more she could see her Laurel.

"Laurel?" Sara asked in shock.

"I'm home, Sara." She said, smiling, waving her hand at those present who looked at her strangely. Only the flash team had ever met Laurel from Earth 1.

"Are you my Laurel?" she asked, her voice almost breaking.

She nodded in affirmation as she walked toward her, and I gave her a big hug, which Sara didn't take long to return.

"Did you think you were the only one who could come back from the dead, sister?" she said, amused.

Notes:

Laurel Lance de Tierra 1 should have returned at the end of Crisis. I'll always hate Arrow's treatment of his character.
