Chapter 1: Do You Like My Stupid Hair?

In one world Harry Potter was the boy who lived and defeated Voldemort as a baby. This is not that world in this world Neville Longbottom is the boy who lived; he defeated Voldemort as a baby and his parents died protecting him. In one world Neville’s parents were tortured by the Lestranges and Barty Crouch Jr. but in this world they tried to torture the Potters and failed because James protected his wife and child.
In this world just like the other one Peter Pettigrew tells someone the secret of where the potters are hiding but here the potters don’t die so them, and Sirius, and Remus can tell the authorities that Peter was the secret keeper when the war ends and he goes to jail.
During this war Sirius Black witnessed his hated cousin, Evan Rosier, die on a battlefield and heard his final words “my brother.” Sirius remembered that Evan had a much younger brother named Felix and that their parents had already died in this war. Felix probably lived with his brother now and would go to some awful death eater relation and go to Slytherin like all the other death eaters and their children. Sirius didn’t want that for his cousin. So he convinced James to help him break into every house Felix might be hidden in. Finally, they found Felix and took him to Sirius and Remus’ apartment where he would spend the rest of his childhood. When Felix goes to Hogwarts he goes to Hufflepuff.
The war ends and peace comes to magical England. Dumbledore doesn’t trust this and still has Snape stay his spy post war and teach at Hogwarts. Snape tries to reconnect with Lily but can’t get over his hatred for James so they only exchange letters.
In this world Sirius is free and so Harry grows up having his Godfather and Uncle Moony visiting all the time with Felix Rosier.
Harry grows up spending lots of time with Neville because they are god brothers and this convinces Augusta Longbottom, Neville’s grandmother, to let them be together even though she tries to keep other kids away from her grandchild afraid they will just want to know him for his fame. Harry also grows up going to the burrow regularly to play with the Weasley children a lot of times the neighbors Luna and Cedric are there too. Lily regularly sneaks Neville to the burrow as well.
The first time Lily ever goes to visit the burrow after the war with Harry and Neville it is early 1982 and Bill is fretting over leaving home for Hogwarts later that year. He mentions going to the wrong house and Lily says no house is the wrong house you need to go wherever you fit best. Later in September Bill takes this to heart and goes to Hufflepuff.
Harry also grows up visiting the Tonks’ often and encourages Nymphadora to go to the Hogwarts house she fits in best too. When Tonks goes to Hogwarts in 1984 she goes to Gryffindor. Charlie Weasley is also starting Hogwarts that year and goes to Ravenclaw, at first he had the same fears as his older brother but then Harry and Bill give a very good joint speech after a play quidditch game one day that pushes him to go where he belongs. Nymphadora winds up befriending the Weasley brothers at Hogwarts and going to the Burrow a lot in the summers. Nymphadora also grows up seeing Felix Rosier pretty often as they are distant cousins and Sirius and Andromeda meet up a lot. Nymphadora and Felix wind up becoming close friends and later start dating.
In 1987 Percy Weasley is set to start at Hogwarts and is completely ambivalent to the house problem now knowing so many people in so many different houses he doesn’t care. That year Bill was made a Huffelpuff prefect. Since Bill is a prefect and Charlie has Nymphadora to sit with, Percy decides to sit by himself, but meets Terence Higgs, a fellow first year student and they quickly become friends. When the sorting comes along Terence and Percy both go to Gryffindor.
In 1989 Fred and George start at Hogwarts and are sorted into Slytherin. They are little pranksters just like in the other world and spend their Hogwarts career pulling pranks.

In 1987 Lily gets a letter from Petunia telling her all about how Dudley has magic and how Vernon couldn’t handle it. How he became abusive trying to beat the magic out of Dudley and now she is trying to divorce him and wants her son to meet his cousin to know other magical children. Petunia and Lily hadn’t talked or even written since the magical war ended, but Lily says yes and sets up a playdate between the two boys. They wind up becoming friends and the divorce goes through. Lily helps Petunia find a new place to live with high protections to keep Vernon out since she got a protection order against him and he is not allowed to go near Dudley.
Harry also grows up having playdates with Susan Bones as her parents were in the order and his father works with her aunt who took her in when her parents died in the war. Sometimes Harry, Neville, and Susan all play together.
Chapter 2: Moving Right Along
Summary:
Harry goes shopping for school with his friends and rides the train to Hogwarts for his first year.

Marcus Belby would start Hogwarts in 1990 and met Percy and Terence on the platform becoming friends with them and sorting Gryffindor.
Angelina Johnson had a playful quidditch rivalry with the Weasley twins and when Katie Bell joins the team she becomes friends with Angelina and joins this rivalry. Slowly this turns into a friendship with the Weasley twins.

Terence Higgs winds up being the Gryffindor seeker when he is at Hogwarts from 1988-1994. Charlie Weasley is the Ravenclaw seeker while at Hogwarts from 1985-91. Fred and George wind up becoming Slytherin beaters in 1990 and stay as beaters until they graduate in 1996. Angelina Johnson was Gryffindor chaser from 1990-1996. Katie Bell was Gryffindor beater from 1991-1997. Zacharias Smith was a Ravenclaw chaser from 1992-1998. Harry Ravenclaw seeker 1992-1998. Crabbe Gryffindor beater 1992-1998. Ginny Weasley Ravenclaw Chaser 1993-1998 Seeker 1998-1999. Ron Weasley Gryffindor Keeper 1994-1998. Draco Malfoy Hufflepuff Chaser 1992-1995 Seeker 1995-1998.

June 1991
Harry Potter has gotten his Hogwarts letter and immediately floo-calls his friends asking if they have gotten their letters and inviting them to go to Diagon Alley on his birthday. He also calls Dudley on the phone. Then he sends his acceptance letter by owl.
July 31, 1991
Harry, Neville, Susan, the Weasley family, Dudley, and Petunia all go to Diagon Alley together as well as Harry’s parents watching over him, Neville, and Susan. When they get to the robes shop to be fitted for their school robes they are informed there is already another Hogwarts first year getting fitted and only one of them can go back. Harry decides to go back first.
When Harry goes back there he immediately recognizes Draco Malfoy because he was told what the Malfoy family looks like by his father. Before Harry can figure out what to say Draco is introducing himself “Hello I’m Draco Malfoy heir Malfoy. Do you like Quidditch?” “Yes” Harry answers but before he can elaborate Draco starts talking about where his parents are and that they are shopping for him. Harry quickly butts in saying his parents are just outside with his friends. Draco answers “oh, what house do you think you and your friends will be in? I know I will be in Slytherin just like every other Malfoy.” “I don’t care what house I am in as long as one of my friends is with me. My mum is always saying it doesn’t matter what house you are in as long as you are happy and that you shouldn’t just go to a house because it is where your family has always gone but you should go where you fit best.” Then Madame Malkin is telling Harry that he is done.
Harry gets out of there and goes over to his friends telling them that Draco Malfoy is back there. Susan chooses to go next to avert a Weasley Malfoy clash because of the well known family blood feud. Soon enough Draco comes out and makes a quick retreat from the shop.
Soon enough Harry and all his friends have gotten fitted for their robes and they move on to the wand shop. At Ollivander’s wand shop Neville gets the wand with a brother core to Voldemort because that wand is connected to the horcrux not the person’s magical core. Lily is able to convince the Weasleys to buy a wand for Ron just like she convinced Augusta Longbottom to have Neville buy a wand. Ron gets a 14” long wand made of Willow and unicorn hair. Dudley gets an ash and unicorn hair wand. Harry gets a beech and dragon heartstring wand. Susan gets an Ebony and dragon heartstring wand.

On August 31 Petunia and Dudley come to the Potter's house to stay before going to the train in the morning. The next morning Ron, Neville, Harry, Dudley, and Susan meet on the platform but, quickly Neville loses his toad. Ron and Dudley go to get a seat on the train while Neville, Harry, and Susan go looking for the toad. They bump into Zacharias Smith who says he hasn’t seen the toad but offers to help them find the toad. Next they find Marcus Belby, Terence Higgs, and Percy Weasley walking towards the prefect's car as Percy is a prefect and his friends are catching up with him before he has to tend to his duties as a prefect. When they ask Percy if he has seen a toad as Neville has lost one Percy says no but that he can use the Accio spell to find the toad for them. Percy does this and then they go off to find where their friends are sitting on the train.
When trying to find their friend's car they find Parvati Patil sitting all alone having been abandoned by her sister and invite her to sit with them. Once they find their car the friends find that Ron and Dudley have gained new friends in Daphne Greengrass and Tracey Davis sitting in the car. All the people in the car start discussing what houses they think they will go to and Harry shares his mother’s incite of going where fits them best.
After the trolley lady had come and gone Draco Malfoy shows up with Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. At first he claims his father told him to befriend the Boy-Who-Lived but then changes his tune saying that is just what he convinced Crabbe and Goyle but that really he was looking for Harry as he decided to take what he said in the robe shop to heart and go where he truly belongs. Goyle doesn’t like this and leaves back to the car they were sitting in before but Crabbe gets curious and asks what advice Harry gave Draco. Finding he agrees with Draco, Crabbe sits down with the rest as does Draco. Soon enough the announcement that they are nearing Hogwarts comes and they all get ready to leave.
Chapter 3: One Word From You
Summary:
The sorting and the start of a new school year at Hogwarts with added Cerberus.

The students all leave the train and Hagrid is there directing the first years to boats. Harry says hello as he grew up having dinners with Hagrid. Zacharias, Parvati, Daphne, and Tracey all get into a boat together. Harry, Susan, Crabbe, and Neville also all get into a boat together. Ron, Hermione, and Draco get into a boat together then Pansy shows up and questions where Draco and Crabbe were and calls Hermione a mudblood but winds up in a boat with them since all the rest are full by the time she finishes talking to them.
They all get out of the boats and walk up to the school. Once at the school McGonagall gives her speech and then the first years are left alone. Draco, Ron, and Harry have a conversation about Quidditch until the ghosts come through. Hermione gets scared but Dudley gets excited since he read about ghosts but has never seen one. Then McGonagall shows back up and moves the ghosts along. The students are brought into the great hall.
The sorting begins and Susan Bones is the first to go under the hat from their group. She is sorted into Slytherin after being under the hat for 2 minutes. Vincent Crabbe is the next from their group; he is under the hat for a minute before it calls out Gryffindor.
Then Tracey Davis goes and sorts Gryffindor after 3 minutes. Next Dudley goes and sorts Slytherin in seconds which is historic because as far as records show there has never been a muggleborn Slytherin. Hermione Granger is the next and she goes to Ravenclaw after just seconds under the hat. Daphne Greengrass is under the hat for 5 whole minutes and is the first hat stall before finally going to Gryffindor. Neville Longbottom is under the hat for mere seconds before it sorts him into Gryffindor. Ernie Macmillan and Draco Malfoy each sort Hufflepuff one after the other Draco sitting under the hat for 4 minutes before the hat decides. Pansy gets sorted into Slytherin in mere seconds. Padma and Parvati Patil go one after the other and sort Ravenclaw and Slytherin respectfully, Parvati's sorting taking minutes while Padma’s only took seconds. Harry goes next and after a minute he sorts Ravenclaw. Zacharias Smith goes next and becomes the longest hat stall yet at 7 minutes before finally going to Ravenclaw. Finally Ron goes and gets sorted into Gryffindor in seconds.
The sorting ends and soon enough Dinner comes to all the tables at the Ravenclaw table Harry, Hermione, and Zacharias are talking about their favorite books and what classes they are excited for. Harry talks about DADA and potions, Zacharias complains about history being taught by a ghost, and Hermione says she can’t wait to start class as she is looking forward to all the classes.
At the Slytheirn table Parvati and Susan start exchanging beauty tips with Pansy butting in. Then the conversation shifts to Pansy not understanding how Parvati and Susan can be friends with Muggleborns. They try to explain it to Pansy with Dudley butting in as he is a muggleborn and Pansy saying Dudley is the first ever Muggleborn Slytherin Theo corroborates this but says he understands Susan and Parvati’s point of view and just pretends to agree with blood purists to appease his father. Fred and George also add to this conversation talking about their dad’s work with muggle objects.
At the Gryffindor table Vincent, Neville, and Ron talk about quidditch but Neville quickly becomes bored and starts talking to Daphne and Tracey about Herbology instead. Marcus and Terence butt into Ron and Vincent’s conversation about quidditch as Terence is on the quidditch team. Katie and Angelina also overhear the conversation and join in when Angelina recognizes Ron is a Weasley and mentions she knows Fred and George.
At the Hufflepuff table Ernie and Draco discuss quidditch and what classes they are looking forward to.
Dinner ends and Dumbledore gives a speech he mentions a forbidden corridor and death. Then Percy as Gryffindor Prefect takes the first years to the dorm and embarrasses Ron. The other prefects lead their first years to their houses too and then all the first years go to bed as they are very tired from the day's events.

When Harry first shows up at the great hall for the sorting Snape sees him and does a double take he was expecting a copy of James Potter but instead he sees so much Lily in him. Snape doesn’t know what to do about this and then Harry is sorted into Ravenclaw and once again Snape doesn’t know what to do with this. He ultimately decides to ignore Harry for now.

Harry writes a letter to his parents and younger sister Rose telling them he got into Ravenclaw. His dad says he is not surprised and Harry was always a swot. His mum says she doesn’t care what house he is in and that he gets good grades. His sister says she misses him but is still playing with Luna and Ginny when they visit the burrow. He also writes a letter to Remus and Sirius. Remus also doesn’t care about his house and Sirius makes the same jokes as James. Harry mentions Draco’s house in the letter too.
Draco writes a letter home to and his father writes back with disappointment but his mother says his house doesn't matter to her and she still loves him. Sirius also writes a letter to Draco talking all about how they were both the first non-Slytherin's in their families and he will be there for Draco even if his parents won’t.

Harry’s first day of classes starts with potions with the Hufflepuffs where Snape looks into Harry’s eyes which are the same as his fathers and gives Harry a pop quiz. They make the potions in twos with Draco and Harry working together and Zacharias and Ernie working together. Nothing goes wrong in this class. Next they have Transfigurations with the Gryffindors where Zacharias, Daphne, Tracey, Harry, Crabbe, Neville, Ron and Hermione all sit near each other. Then it is time for lunch. Next they have Charms with the Slytherins Zacharias, Parvati, Harry, Susan, Pansy, Theo, and Hermione all sit near each other. Then it is time for History where Harry, Hermione, and Zacharias all sit together.

The first year friends start a study group. This sometimes devolves to gossip quietly of course so they won’t be kicked out of the library. One day in the first month of the school year Ron mentions Fred and George claiming to have seen a three headed dog in the forbidden corridor and that he doesn’t believe them so he is going to the corridor tonight if anyone wants to join him. Harry informs them that the dog must be a Cerberus and that he has always wanted to study one. Crabbe wants to come too but no one else.
They discover the Cerberus is real and have to run from Filch. Harry is wishing he had the marauder’s map the whole time and is glad he has the cloak of invisibility which his father gave him before they left for the train. Draco writes to his father about the Cerberus. At the next school governors meeting Lord Malfoy brings up the Cerberus and Lily agrees with him about getting rid of it. The aurors are called in and make Dumbledore get rid of all the protections in the forbidden corridor.
Chapter 4: All Combined
Summary:
Halloween, Christmas, a map, and dragons oh my.

Halloween
Neville is sad the whole day thinking about his dead parents. He gets permission to not go to the Halloween feast. Professor Quirrell interrupts the feast to tell the school there is a troll in the dungeons. All the students go back to their dorms and Harry and Draco immediately write letters to their parents.
At the next school governors meeting Lily and Lord Malfoy bring up the troll incident and ask for the wards to be checked. Dumbledore tries to stop this but fails. The wards are checked by goblins and wizard curse breakers and are found to be lacking so they fix them.

Since Neville is the boy who lived he has the lighting scar he has the horcrux. At the opening feast for the school year Neville asked Percy Weasley about the professors and when he looked where Snape and Quirrell were his scar hurt. His scar also hurt every time he was in Quirrell's class. When he is told about the troll on Halloween by Ron and Crabbe and that Quirrell is the one to inform the school about it, he tells them about his scar hurting around Quirrell. He says he thinks Quirrell is the one who let the troll in. Ron immediately wants to blame Snape but Crabbe agrees with Neville.
The next day Neville brings this up with the study group most people agree with Neville except for Harry who thinks Snape is evil since he gave him a rando pop quiz on the first day even though Snape is grading him fairly and hasn’t done anything annoying to him since; and Hermione thinks that none of the teachers are evil because all the teachers are supposed to be kind and helpful and good.

Dumbledore hides the stone in the mirror and doesn’t use any other protections hoping the mirror will be enough since the rest of his protections were taken away.
The yule break comes and Neville is talking about staying at the school for the holidays because of how annoying his Gran is. The Weasleys tell him they are staying too because their parents are visiting their brother in Romania. Draco says he is staying too because he isn’t ready to deal with his father. Crabbe is staying too since his parents weren’t happy with his sorting. Everyone else is going home and Harry offers Neville and Draco to come to his house for the holidays. He also tells Draco that Sirius would probably love to have him for the holidays.
Draco gets a letter from Sirius offering him to come to his house for the holidays. Neville decides to go to the Potters for the holidays. So Crabbe and the Weasleys are the only ones staying at Hogwarts for the holidays.

Draco meets his aunt Andromeda Tonks for the first time when she comes to Sirius and Remus’ house for holiday celebrations. He also meets his cousins Nymphadora Tonks and Felix Rosier.

Fred and George overhear Harry complaining in the hall that the traitor lost the Marauder’s Map once they have come back from the holidays. They ask Harry how he knows about the Marauder’s Map and he tells them his father and his friends made the map. Fred and George decide to give Harry the map since he is the heir of the Marauders.

Harry, Neville, and Ron along with other people from their friend group go to visit Hagrid throughout the year. Draco, Pansy, and Theo all refuse to visit Hagrid though. One day when Harry, Neville, Ron, and Ernie go to visit Hagrid he is acting suspicious. When they go into his hut they realize Hagrid has a dragon egg. Harry and Ernie immediately try to convince Hagrid to get rid of the dragon but he doesn’t listen. Ron thinks this is great and doesn’t see why Hagrid shouldn’t have a dragon. While Neville doesn’t want to get in the middle of the argument.
They tell the study group about the egg and Hermione gives a good compromise: they let Hagrid keep the egg until it hatches then they get the dragon to Ron’s brother Charlie. Everyone agrees with this and says they will help get the dragon out of the school once it hatches.
Chapter 5: Read The News
Summary:
Dragons and detention. Detention because of dragons? And a creepy detention at that.

Ron sends Charlie a letter and informs him of the situation with Hagrid. Charlie tells them his friends will come get the dragon once it hatches.

Draco actually starts showing up at Hagrid’s hut because he is fascinated by dragons.
Then they get a letter from Hagrid at breakfast telling them that the dragon is hatching. They argue about skipping classes with Harry and Hermione thinking they convinced everyone not to skip but Ron and Draco skip and go to Hagrid’s hut immediately.
After classes everyone else comes to see the dragon and Hermione yells at Draco and Ron for skipping class. Later after leaving Hagrid’s hut they send a letter to Charlie that the dragon hatched.

Two days later Charlie’s friends are scheduled to come at night. The study group sets up a full proof plan to get the dragon out. Of course they didn’t account for Fred and George spying on them and deciding to follow them. Fred and George wanted to watch their little brother in his first time breaking the rules. They had overheard the study group talking about sneaking out after curfew but not why so they were very shocked when they saw a dragon involved.
Everything goes according to plan until the end when Fred and George try to tell Harry that his has forgotten his invisibility cloak but no one knew Fred and George had been with them the whole time and they assume Fred and George are a professor and all scatter in different direction not realizing it might be a good idea to stay with Harry who has the map.
Fred, Daphne, Neville, and Zacharias run off in the same direction with Fred trying to tell them to go back to the one person with a map of the school, but they run right into McGonagall who gives them detention.

Fred and George were just trying to make sure their little brother didn't get in trouble when he broke the rules for the first time and now one of them is in trouble.
Hagrid takes their detention to investigate what is killing unicorns in the forbidden forest. When Hagrid has them split up Fred immediately volunteers to go with fang since he already knows the forest well and Neville goes with him per Hagrid's request.
They find what is killing the unicorns and then a centaur comes to protect them he says somethings that Neville interprets as that was Voldemort in the forest. Neville starts to theorize that Professor Quirrell is working with a not so dead Voldemort. Of course when he tells his friends this most of them think he is crazy.
Chapter 6: Your a Hypocrite
Summary:
Exams, Stones, and Cups we have reached the end of first year.

Soon enough the end of the school year has come and with it exams. When all is said and done Harry, Hermione, and Draco get top 3 grades in their year.
After the exams are over the study group all hang out outside along with Ron’s brothers, all three of them, and their friends because it is such a beautiful day. The girls are all braiding each other's hair and the boys are talking about quidditch and what they will do over the summer.
Neville throughout the school year has been suspicious of Quirrell and with the revelation that Voldemort might not be dead and is possibly working with Quirrell he realizes something must be hidden at the school. That is the only reason Voldemort could have to be at the school.
While they are all outside enjoying the nice summer weather Neville realizes Quirrell and Voldemort will go after whatever it is today and says as much to the study group quietly so the only students don’t overhear and stop him from doing something stupid and brash like a typical Gryffindor.
The Gryffindor's say they will help Neville but the rest think this is a bad idea and tell them they should tell an adult not go after it themselves. So they all leave making an excuse to the older students and try to tell McGonagall but she doesn’t believe them so Neville and the Gryffindors go to the forbidden corridor while the others turn a blind eye and go back outside. Draco makes an excuse and goes to visit his godfather Snape. He tells Snape about Neville’s theory and that they went to the forbidden corridor.
Snape calls Dumbledore back to the school with his Patronus and then goes to the forbidden corridor where he finds Tracey and Daphne. They tell him everything with little prompting and Snape goes into the forbidden corridor. There he finds Neville and Quirrell with his turban off in a battle with their wands. Ron and Crabbe are passed out to the side.
He calls madam Pomfrey and pulls the two boys out into the hall where Daphne and Tracey are still waiting. They tell Snape they will watch over their friends until Pomfrey comes. Snape goes back into the corridor and finds Neville passed out with a dead Quirrell and a wrath leaving through the ceiling.
Snape carries Neville out of the corridor where Pomfrey has arrived and is checking on Ron and Crabbe. She sees Neville and checks on him too. Then Dumbledore shows up Snape leaves the passed out children with Pomfrey and leads Dumbledore into the corridor where they try to figure out what to do with Quirrell’s body.

Neville wakes up later and is told by Dumbledore that he saved the stone and stopped Voldemort's wrath from getting a body. Soon he is let out of the hospital after Ron and Crabbe.
At the final feast he gives the whole study group points for their involvement in protecting the stone. This gives Gryffindor the house cup.
The next morning they leave school for the summer. They all meet their families on the platform and leave for summer break
