Rivals with Benefits

Chapter Text

Jeonghan's dad's office looked tidy as ever with dozens of awards for Sungho Yoon Professor of Politics lining the walls. His dad sat in his office chair with his head in his hands, as it had been since Jeonghan had started explaining his living situation. When Jeonghan finished, his dad looked up, worry etched deeply into the lines of his face. "How can my son be expected to live with the wildest most outrageous frat on campus?"

"It's not as bad as it sounds, I promise." Jeonghan assured him. "I'm already working things out with them."

His dad scoffed quietly. "I find that hard to believe given Seungcheol Choi's reputation. That young alpha's been a plague on the VCSU faculty from day one. Ever since he mooned the Board of Trustees at Dr. Jones' retirement party, Choi has torn through this campus like he owns it."

Jeonghan looked down at his lap, picking at a loose thread in his jeans. "Seungcheol isn't as bad as he seems. I know he's rowdy and unprincipled on the outside but he's been surprisingly reasonable so far."

Instead of relaxing, when Jeonghan looked back up, his dad's expression had darkened. "That's exactly how alphas like that get top tier students sucked into their nonsense."

"Trust me, I have this all under control." Jeonghan insisted. "As a matter of fact, we were in the middle of signing a contract about the house rules when you came in. I even got him to agree to quiet hours during most weekdays."

"Really?" His dad raised his eyebrows. "That's impressive." His gaze softened as it lingered on Jeonghan's face. "You get that from your mom, you know. Back when she was president, she transformed Lambda Nu into the gold star organization it is today."

Jeonghan swallowed around the lump in his throat that always formed whenever he thought about his mom. "I plan to do her legacy proud, Appa. I swear."

His dad nodded. "Good. I'd expect nothing less." His expression hardened once more. "Be careful around that Seungcheol Choi, Jeonghan. You have no idea what kind of trouble he can bring into your life."

As Jeonghan left his dad's office, he found Seungcheol leaning against the opposite wall with that same smug grin he seemed to always wear. "Well, well, well. Our Lambda Nu president is the son of the infamous Professor Yoon? No wonder you love rules so much." Shooting a panicked glance back toward his dad's office, Jeonghan grabbed Seungcheol by the elbow and dragged him further down the hall. "No need to manhandle me, Lambda Nu. I'll go willingly."

"Is there a reason you followed me down here?" Jeonghan asked, stopping once he was sure they were far enough away from his dad's office.

Seungcheol shrugged. "Curiosity mostly. I'm starting to feel like I understand you better. Those are some mighty big shoes you have to fill."

Jeonghan furrowed his eyebrows. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing much." Seungcheol shook his head. "Just that you've got some pretty illustrious parents. It's no wonder you're wound so tight with two legacies like that to live up to." Jeonghan's heart skipped a beat. Seungcheol sounded sincere, but if Jeonghan had learned anything in the past 24 hours it was that sincerity wasn't the usual Seungcheol Choi way. "Not to worry though. I'm here to help you loosen up whenever you say the word."

And there it was. "Can we not?" Jeonghan snapped. "I don't have time for this right now."

Seungcheol's lips quirked again. "If you're in such a hurry, why are you still holding my arm?" He looked pointedly at Jeonghan's hand that was clutching his arm like a lifeline. With a start, Jeonghan dropped his hand. "Damn, I shouldn't have said anything. I like it when you can't let me go." Heat rushed to the surface of Jeonghan's skin but before he had a chance to dwell on that fact, his phone dinged with an incoming text from Joshua.

The Org Fair booth is up and ready.

You planning on joining us anytime
soon, oh fearless leader?

OMW

Jeonghan slid his phone back into his pocket. "As much as I'd love to stay here and do whatever this is, I gotta run." Seungcheol made no move to detain Jeonghan as he turned to leave the building.

The Lambda Nu booth was buzzing with activity when Jeonghan arrived at the quad for the Org Fair which highlighted only the best campus activities. "I may have gone a little overboard with the posterboard." Wonwoo said as he held a clipboard out to show Jeonghan. "But we've already had half a dozen omegas sign up to pledge."

"Great work!" Jeonghan smiled. "Everything looks amazing." He started to sit down only to freeze as he saw another booth being slapped together just across from them.

Omega Psi.

"Since when do they come to the Org Fair?" Joshua scowled. "They usually pick their recruits off the floor of The Dive."

Seungcheol sauntered up to the last second booth with his signature smirk and sat down. And that was when Jeonghan realized the battle to decide the most successful of the two was officially on. "If Seungcheol plans to play hardball, so will I." He muttered under his breath as he took to the crowd, scanning for recruits. His eyes landed on a confident looking omega. "Hello there! Do you like arctic wildlife?"

The omega blinked at him in surprise. "Um, yeah, I guess?"

"Good because Lambda Nu has a record-breaking commitment to community service and this year we're focusing on the melting polar ice caps and-"

Jeonghan was cut off by an infuriating voice in his ear. "The only ice Omega Psi cares about is the ice in our drinks. Speaking of, the main attraction is ready! Our baked goods have arrived!" To Jeonghan's dismay, everyone in the quad gathered around the Omega Psi booth as several of the members jumped up on the table and stripped off their shirts. More than one six pack gleamed in the bright afternoon sun, including Seungcheol's. Cans of whipped cream and frosting appeared as if out of nowhere and started making their way from hand to hand. "Go ahead and decorate the cakes however you see fit! When it comes to Omega Psi, there are no rules."

Jeonghan's vision went red around the edges as Seungcheol zeroed in on him, the gleam of a challenge in the alpha's eyes. Unfortunately, he couldn't deny the alphas were nice to look at. If he looked that good without a shirt on, he'd probably never wear one again. He couldn't help but stare as an omega sprayed whipped cream all over Seungcheol's abdomen. Slick white globs ran down the alpha's body, pooling lower and lower.

Joshua snapped his fingers in front of Jeonghan's face, causing Jeonghan to shake his head and try to rid it of the image of Seungcheol's shirtless body.

"Okay wow, these alphas are ridiculously hot!" An omega gushed, her face red.

"And they obviously know how to party." An alpha said. "I'm definitely rushing Omega Psi."

Jeonghan sighed and turned to Joshua. "As much as I hate to admit it, their little bake sale is working. Look how many alphas are signing up to rush!"

Wonwoo frowned. "Unless we put up a stripper pole, how are we supposed to compete?"

A wicked delicious thought occurred to Jeonghan, causing his lips to curl into a grin. "If we want to win this, we're gonna need to up the ante and outside Omega Psi. And I've got just the idea of how." He held out his hand. "Joshua, hand me that scarf and hold down the fort. I'm heading in."

Joshua whisked a soft billowing scarf from one of the other Lambda Nus and handed it to Jeonghan with a proud but devious grin. "Seungcheol Choi is gonna regret the day he ever crossed swords with you."

Jeonghan strode over and planted himself in front of the Omega Psi booth, Seungcheol's eyes trained on him every step of the way. "Uh oh, did you come here to admit defeat already?" Seungcheol asked.

Jeonghan tilted his head innocently. "Actually, I'm here to help you make things a little more exciting. Cake decorating is a little last year, don't you think?" He turned to face the crowd with a hand on his hip. "Why do you say we kick things up a notch by playing pin the whipped cream on the frat?"

"Hell yeah!" An alpha cheered. "I'd pay good money to see that!"

"You're saying things are about to get even hotter?" An omega asked in shock.

Mingyu blinked. "That's genius."

Even Seungcheol seemed intrigued, his eyes flashing as Jeonghan scrapped his gaze over every inch of the alpha's exposed skin. "So that's how we're playing this, huh?" Seungcheol asked.

Jeonghan nodded. "At Lamba Nu, we're all about innovation and pushing the limits. It's as natural to us as our work saving the polar ice caps." He thrusted the scarf at Seungcheol, his fingertips brushing against the alpha's. "Go ahead and blindfold me if you dare."

"Oh, I dare, Lambda Nu." Seungcheol said without missing a beat. "I dare hard." He spun Jeonghan so the omega's back was to him. Then with a soft touch at the nape of Jeonghan's neck, he pushed the omega's hair aside and tied the blindfold in place.

As soon as the world went dark, Jeonghan's other senses picked up--the sound of Seungcheol's labored breathing, the heat pulsing up off the alpha's bare skin. "Now give me a few spins and hand me that whipped cream." Jeonghan instructed.

Seungcheol's hands fell to Jeonghan's shoulders as he gently spun the omega around and around. Jeonghan was so dizzy by the time Seungcheol stopped that he stumbled a bit. He tried to step forward and plant his feet but he ran straight into Seungcheol instead. Seungcheol caught him effortlessly, his strong hands steadying Jeonghan. "Falling for me already, Jeonghan? This might be a world record."

Jeonghan brushed off Seungcheol's comment and straightened himself up, regaining his air of confidence. "Okay, Omega Psi, go ahead and line up. I'm ready to show you what Lambda Nu is made of."

"I for one can't wait to see it." Seungcheol said.

As the shirtless alphas fell into place, the sound of their jokes and laughter made it very obvious who was positioned where. "50 bucks says he won't be able to resist me." Mingyu whispered loudly.

"You're on." Seokmin said. "Omegas have been resisting you since the day you were born, Mingyu."

Even though Jeonghan couldn't see a thing, he knew exactly where he was going. He strode up to Seungcheol, his hands feeling out in front of him. He allowed his hands to fall just below the alpha's waist, fingertips grazing the front of his jeans for one electric second. Seungcheol's entire body jolted as Jeonghan pulled away and started sliding his hands upward. "Oops, sorry about that." Jeonghan smirked as he let his fingers linger on Seungcheol's stomach, teasing him with a few soft touches before pulling away again.

Seungcheol laughed and lowered his voice to little more than a hoarse whisper. "Brat. You did that on purpose." Jeonghan's breath hitched as he felt Seungcheol's lips brush against the shell of his ear. "But I forgive you. I knew you'd be drawn to me like a moth to the flame."

Jeonghan bit his lip and aimed the cold can of whipped cream at Seungcheol's stomach. Forcing himself to concentrate, he started spraying and made the perfect shape of Lambda Nu's letters before stepping back and ripping off his blindfold. "You're mine now, Omega Psi." The gathered crowd broke out in a cheer that echoed across the quad.

"Way to mark your territory, Jeonghan!"

"That's it, I gotta get into this frat."

Seungcheol's chest rose and fell with his heavy breathing but his eyes twinkled as he glanced around the mess of his booth. "You gonna clean us off now that you've made things all dirty?"

Jeonghan raised his eyebrows slightly. "I think that can be arranged." He held Seungcheol's gaze as he slowly dropped to his knees in front of the alpha. Without giving Seungcheol time to react, Jeonghan began running his tongue over the whipped cream on Seungcheol's stomach.

"Damn." Mingyu let out a slight laugh. "No one can say that Jeonghan isn't willing to play the game."

Slowly, tantalizingly, Jeonghan lapped up every bit of whipped cream until Seungcheol's stomach was glistening with the remnants of the omega's saliva. He made a show of licking the remaining whipped cream from his lips as he rose to his feet again. Seungcheol's gaze stayed trained on the omega's tongue as his throat bobbed. Jeonghan's knees felt weak as he held Seungcheol's heated hungry gaze. It felt like they were the only two on the quad.

"You saw it for yourself, pledges!" Joshua's voice broke through the moment. "For the sexiest time on campus, look no further than Lambda Nu!"

Jeonghan turned to see potential new members rushing to the Lambda Nu booth in droves. "Now that's a president who knows how to have fun. Sign me up!"

"Me too! I wanna be in Lambda Nu!"

Jeonghan smiled. "That's right! We care about having fun as much as we do making a difference!"

Seungcheol acknowledged his defeat with a chuckle and a nod of his head. "Alright, Lamda Nu. You may have won the battle but the war starts tomorrow with Rush Week."
