Work Text:
Light paced around the warehouse, guilt gnawing at his insides. He had to kill L, or he would end up in prison, taking it up the ass from a rough Alpha. The Omega flinched at the thought of being held down and taken from behind by a nameless Alpha, even if his actions did warrant some form of karmic justice. If the rest of Light's life wouldn't be spent in chains and a tiny cell, he would surrender to L.
L was such a gentle, soft Alpha. He had the capacity to be cruel, which Light learned when L chained him in a tiny room and observed him like an insect. However, L hadn't been cruel without reason— he knew that Light was Kira, but lacked proof. L gave Light the chance to confess multiple times, but Light refused. Ignoring that incident, L had otherwise not been mean. He was arrogant, but so was Light.
Light wanted so badly to be able to build a nest and snuggle up in it with L. He wanted someone who understood him, but that came at a great cost. Light would have to pay in blood and his virginity, and he still wouldn't win a prize. There was simply no way for L and Light to have a happily ever after together.
"Light-kun." L gave him a polite nod. "I'm glad you came."
"Mmm." Light had nothing to say to L. Light had planned out L's death with Mikami. It felt wrong to play along like everything was fine.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah," lied Light. He lied enough that it came naturally now. "My hormones are just a little wacky. It happens every once in a while."
"Especially when you lie to Alphas," remarked L with a smirk. "But I doubt you'd know anything about that. I'm sure you'd never do that."
Light's eyes widened. L definitely knew something was off. Light refused to show his fear. "Are you accusing me of something?"
"Depends." L cocked his at head at him. "Is that something you would do?"
"Of course not!" Light's resolve wavered. L looked unconvinced, his lips pursed. "Why would you accuse me of something so malicious? You barely allow me any freedom, but I still respect your authority. You tried to chain me to you, and I simply obeyed!"
"I barely allow you any freedom?" L bared his teeth, snarling softly. "You're running around killing people. You don't deserve to be free at all. And once I finish gathering my evidence tonight, you'll never be free again. I'll make sure you spend the rest of your pathetic days behind bars, chained up so you can never kill again."
"I..." Light needed to figure out how to calm the situation. The gleam in L's eyes seemed threatening, and Light needed just enough time for Mikami to do his part.
"That's right, Light-kun. You'll spend the rest of your days in a tiny little cell with only your thoughts to accompany you." L gave him a cold smile. "Perhaps whatever Shinigami owns the notebook you use will keep you company, if they can stand being cramped up in a small cell with you."
Ryuk wouldn't hang around if Light ended up in prison, unless Light's time in prison proved interesting. While Light didn't want Ryuk to kill him, Light's stomach knotted at the thought of what he'd have to live through for Ryuk to be entertained. Light was still a virgin, unknotted and untouched. He wanted to have sex on his own terms, preferably in or near a nest he'd build. He wanted his first time to be on his own terms, with a partner of his choosing. He wanted that gentle, sweet romance that he didn't deserve.
"I... I think that's a cruel thing for even you to say." Light gave L a cold stare, trying not to fold under the pressure. "You treat me as lesser because I'm an Omega. That's not my fault."
"I don't treat you as lesser for being an Omega. If I opposed Omegas in positions of power, I would have fired Matsuda-san and replaced my heir. I find such hierarchies limiting. If you're smart enough to do what needs to be done, who am I to care if you have a heat or rut each month?" L shrugged. "You are correct in regards to the fact you were born an Omega. You had no choice. But it is your choice to kill people."
"I'm not!"
"You shouldn't lie to Alphas who have the power to ensure you spend the rest of your life in chains, the idea of freedom only a concept you can remember." L offered him a sly grin. L's phone started ringing. "Well, if you're truly innocent, you have no reason to fear this phone call."
"What?" Light hadn't anticipated any phone calls. L didn't have any friends who randomly called him up. Light was his only friend, and Light wanted it to always be that way. He wanted to be the one L spent all his time and money on. He didn't want to share L. "Who is calling?"
"Himura-san." L flipped the phone open. "L speaking."
Blood rushed to Light's ears. He couldn't hear a sound other than his heart thumping in his ears. He needed to know what L said, so he could begin piecing things together, but he simply couldn't ground himself. If L was serious with his threat, Light's life was over before it really even started.
He would never get to go to the mall again. He wouldn't be able to cook Sayu her dinner again or make sure her laundry was done. He wouldn't clock in for another shift at Yonosuke. He would never go to another concert with his friends. Light would never be able to sleep in just his soft flannel shirt and briefs again. His life was over, and he still had so much he wanted to do.
L let out a harsh laugh. "Oh dear. That's unfortunate for Light-kun indeed."
Light's stomach twisted. He wondered if he got on his knees before L and offered L anything he could give, if L would spare him. He had never been in such a predicament before. He had thought about what would happen if he lost, but he never considered that L would really punish him. Light had some erotic fantasies of L 'punishing' him for being Kira, but they involved Light being free. Every fantasy where Light was in chains involved him being able to take them off. All of his thoughts, he realized, were fantasies.
"L." Light stared at the detective as he hung up his phone. "What happened?"
"Have you ever wondered what would happen if I found evidence of you being Kira?" L began circling around him, his teeth bared.
"You... you told me you'd kill me," whispered Light, his voice airy.
"Not me. I wouldn't kill you. I'm not you." L continued pacing. "I wouldn't ask a public prosecutor to rush over to top secret headquarters to legally acquire a murder weapon so he could kill my so-called friend."
"You're mad at me," murmured Light, unsure why that surprised him so much. He thought that he was the only one who had gotten attached during this time.
"I thought you were better than this," muttered L, sighing. "Maybe I just saw what I wanted to."
"No." Light flinched under L's intense, sudden stare.
"Explain how I'm wrong."
"I can be better." Light's voice trembled, his fingers shaking. "I..."
"It's my fault for getting attached to my suspect. You can't change who you are."
"I'm not just a murderer." Light had all he could do to take his next breath. "You have to believe me. I swear I'm not all bad."
"And what makes you better than any other criminal? Why should you get to be free?" L stopped moving, watching Light with his dark eyes.
"I... I just want..."
L shook his head. "Doesn't answer my question."
"I just want a better world. I want you there, by my side. I want to show you a world free of criminals." Light cowered under L's blank look. "I... I don't deserve to be free since you have caught me. I do ask that you give me a cell in solitary confinement."
"Solitary confinement?" L tilted his head. "I think it would break you mentally."
"And regular prison would break me physically." Light shuttered at the thought of hands spreading his legs apart.
"I don't want that for you." L stood before Light, offering him an outstretched hand. "I am hurt by your betrayal. When Himura-san found my name in the fake notebook I left for Mikami-san, I was hurt. But I don't want to hurt you the same way."
"Why? You weren't afraid to embarrass me before." Light blinked, unsure when he started crying.
"Oh Light-kun." L hung his head, looking away shamefully. "You made me look stupid. I couldn't find any proof, but I knew you were Kira. I was irritated. I shouldn't have taken it out on you."
"If I accept your hand, what does that mean for me?" Light tilted his head, thinking about how it would feel to hold L's hand. Oh how he wanted to hold the hand that could push the button to electrocute him.
"Whatever you would like it to." L blinked slowly.
"But you said you would kill me." Light breathed in the Alpha's scent, allowing himself to bask in the smell of strawberries and mint. The smell grounded him, reminding him of what they could be to each other.
"I was lying. If I killed you, I would kill my other half." L's eyes fluttered closed before slowly reopening. "Light-kun, you will be my Achilles's heel."
"You love me?"
"I believe so." L bowed his head. "If you do not feel the same, I will not retaliate. I do not expect you to return my feelings."
"I do." Light grabbed onto his outstretched hand, pulling L into a hug. "I do. I want to spend the rest of my days with you."
"I would be honored." L pulled back, placing a gentle kiss on Light's forehead. "I will take care of everything."
"Will you really?"
"Of course, Light-kun."
"So, what does that mean for my life?"
"Full freedom, under my careful supervision." L winked. "I won't chain you up."
"And if I'd like you too?" Light purred, his eyes fluttering.
"I would glad do such. Light-kun is much more naughty than I originally thought."
"Only for you."
"Good. I want to be the only one you ever fall in love with." L buried his face in the side of Light's neck near his scent glands, drinking in the scent of Light. "You're so good, my Omega. Soon, you'll be mine."
"Please. I want to be yours."
"You will be." L playfully nipped the side of Light's neck. "But first, I have to make the arrangements for your freedom. After that, you're mine."
"I'll wait for you for eternity, if I must."
"I would never make you wait that long. I'm a proper Alpha." L winked.
"Good, because I have fun idea about how you should chain me up. Of course, I'll need to build my nest first."
"Oh, you should tell me about it on the way back to headquarters. Watari-san should be here soon."
"Oh, I will."
