Chapter Text
Izuku was bored in class.
Now you may think, why is he bored? Well, he had finished the assignment Aizawa-sensei handed out, so now he had a free period for the rest of class. So, then you may ask: can't he just analyze a quirk or something? Well, that's the other problem. He has no quirks to analyze at the moment.
Think! What can he do right now?
Maybe he could doodle! Yes, That could work!
Izuku shut his notebook and was faced with the boring cover of the book.
He didn't doodle on his notebook cover often. He usually did when he was in middle school, so his classmates didn't know he was still analyzing quirks. If there was doodles on it, it just seemed like it was just full of drawings and not analysis.
Oh well.
That was the past. Now he was a UA student and could doodle on the cover simply for fun!
Now what should he draw? Best not to think about it. Just draw without thinking about it.
He picked up a pen and started to draw.
Just let his mind wander while he draws and see what comes out of it!
He thought about his friends. How nice they are and how fun it is to hang out with them. He thought about Katsuki's friends and about how they sometimes hung out with his group of friends. He thought about Denki and how his heart seems to act up when the blond smiles. It feels like butterflies are in his stomach. He doesn't get why that happens. It isn't an unpleasant feeling, but it is odd that it only happens around Denki.
Maybe he'll figure it out one day.
The lunch bell broke him out of his thoughts
"Alright hellspawn." Aizawa-sensei stood up in his sleeping bag and looked at the class. "Get out of here. Have a good lunch or something." After that he flopped back to the floor.
Izuku looked down at his notebook to start to pack up and it was then he realized he had drawn a bright yellow lightning bolt. Huh, that's random.
He picked up the stuff on his desk, along with his notebook. He stood up from his desk and started making his way to the lunch room.
It was about halfway through lunch when someone noticed the drawing on the cover of his notebook.
Once a week the whole class had a day where everyone sat at the table, and of course today was one of those days. He had finished eating and decided to pull his notebook back out of his bag.
"What's that on the cover, Mido?" A curious Mina asked, leaning over into his space to get a look at the notebook.
"Oh, uh" Izuku looked down at the cover. "Just a doodle."
"Is that a lightning bolt?" She asked. "Kind of reminds me of Denki, don't you think?"
"I, uh, I guess."
"I heard my name!" Denki called from the other side of the table, standing up. "What you guys talking about?"
"The cover of Mido's notebook!" Mina smiled. "It has a drawing of a lighting bolt on it."
"Oh cool!" Denki grinned, now walking over to stand next to where the two were sitting.
Izuku scratched the back of his neck. "I just got bored in class, that's all."
"Why did you decide to draw a lightning bolt?" Kirishima asked from where he was sitting next to Mina
"I- I, uh, I don't know?" Izuku hid his face in his hands.
"What do you mean, 'you don't know'?" Mina asked, tilting her head.
"Well, I wasn't really thinking about it when I drew it? I guess?" Izuku replied sheepishly.
"Oh, alright!" Kirishima ended the conversation, clearly seeing how embarrassed Izuku was about it.
The rest of lunch went by without Izuku really talking much unless people decided to talk to him or ask him something. Nobody mentioned the lightning bolt again though.
The bell eventually rang and everyone cleaned up the table before making their way back to class.
Izuku was walking in the hall with Uraraka, Iida, and Todoroki talking about whatever was brought up, before Denki came running up behind them.
"Hello!" Denki called, crashing into Izuku, almost knocking him over. Izuku stabled himself before he turned his head to look at the blond leaning on his shoulder.
"Kaminari! What are you doing here?" Izuku smiled softly at him.
Denki stopped leaning on his shoulder and started walking -semi- normally next to Izuku. "Well Kiri and Mina left for class while I was throwing out my trash. And, well,.. you know Bakugo"
Izuku snorted. "So you decide to become a canon ball and almost knock me over."
"Exactly!" Denki grinned.
Izuku smiled and shook his head. "Alright."
"Uh," Uraraka interrupted them. "Now that you two have finished," She waved her hands between the two of them. "Whatever that was. I'm just gonna say that we made it to the locker rooms, and it's almost time for class so we should probably get our hero suits on now."
Izuku looked up and was met with the doors to the locker room. "Oh! I didn't even realize! Thanks, Uraraka." He smiled at her.
The rest of the day went by fast and before Izuku knew it, it was time to go home.
He stood up and slung his backpack over his shoulder. Today was quite odd in his opinion, not a bad odd, but still odd.
As Izuku was walking back to the dorms his phone buzzed in his pocket.
Kaminari-
Hey Mido!!!
just wanted to say that the drawing you made in class was awesome sauce
Mido-
Thanks!
Kaminari-
You sure you werent thinkin about me??? ;]
Izuku gaped at the phone and almost dropped it, before he composed himself and a light blush settled on his cheeks. What was that about!?
Mido-
I wasngy
Sorry
I wasn't!*
Kaminari-
You know we are walking the same direction
I can see that blush on your cheeksssssssssssssss
Mido-
I'm not blushing, Kaminari
He totally was.
Kaminari-
Whatever you say
Mido-
I'm not.
Kaminari-
Close your eyes
Mido-
Why..?
Kaminari-
Just do it!!!!
Mido-
Fine!
Izuku stopped walking and slowly closed his eyes. He waited there for a moment and when nothing happened he was about to open his eyes again, but then he felt something come crashing into him.
"Ka-chow!" Denki yelled knocking them both to the ground.
Izuku yelped as he fell onto the dirt path. "Kaminari!"
"Mido!" Denki fell to the ground on top of him.
Izuku laughed. "Did you just reference Lightning Mcqueen while running into me?"
"Yes!" Denki giggled.
Izuku realized the position they were in. His heart started to act up again and his face started to get hot. "You're an idiot!"
"But you like it!" Denki grinned rolling to the side to lay beside him. "Wait a minute..."
Izuku took a deep breath now that Denki was no longer on top of him. "W-What?"
"Did you, Midoriya Izuku," Denki looked at him and Izuku turned his head to face him too. "Just insult me!"
"I-" Izuku thought back to what he said. "Oh. I'm sorry! I didn't realize!"
Denki laughed. "Don't worry about it! Just didn't expect that from you of all people!"
Izuku huffed. "I grew up with Kacchan. You really think I don't know how to be mean?"
"Oh yeah. I always forget you two grew up together." Denki brought a hand up and scratched his head.
Izuku smiled at him. "I think it should be common knowledge. I literally call him Kacchan."
"Yeah.. I guess with you guys always arguing it's hard to remember, you know?" Denki looked at him in the eyes.
Izuku smiled. "Yeah.."
Denki, seeming to realize that this conversation is making him upset, changed the topic. "You hungry?"
Izuku looked at him, confused. "That was random."
"I'm a random person!" Denki beamed.
"That you are." Izuku chuckled.
"So, are you hungry?" Denki asked again.
"You know what," Izuku thought. "I am pretty hungry."
Denki sat up and grabbed onto Izuku's hand. "Then let's go get a snack!"
Izuku felt like lightning was running through his hand -pun not intended- from the contact. He pushed the blush down and smiled at Denki. "Let's!"
