Chapter Text
CW: Implied NSFW, KiriBaku, victory
The goal was always Victory.
Undisputed, ultimate victory.
It was even in his name.
Katsuki was born to be victorious.
It was his only goal, his dream and ambition.
For most of his life, the definition of his Victory didn’t change. Be the best, surpass All Might. He was achieving that victory, steadily climbing toward his goal until the first week of UA.
Then the mountain grew. The ground fell out beneath his feet.
His Victory kept getting further and further away with each passing day.
Because of Deku.
So he changed the definition.
Now, his Victory would be beating and staying ahead of Deku.
It didn’t really change when he learned the nerd’s secret.
No, it didn’t change again until his body moved on its own. And they were fighting a war.
Victory meant winning the war and living to tell the tale.
Well, he mostly lived.
He didn’t know what Victory meant after the war. He laid in a hospital bed, unable to feel his arm and his heart monitored by several machines and he wondered what he would do now.
Victory became the little things. Getting out of bed, lifting his arm, holding a pencil, feel his quirk spark against his skin.
Kissing Kirishima was a Victory he wasn’t expecting.
Then slowly, over the years, Victory was less about being a hero. He was still exceptional, still the best he could be, beat villains, saved the day, but that wasn’t his Victory anymore.
It was waking up to soft snores in his ear, it was kisses on tanned skin, it was cooking together then slow dancing to music only in their heads, it was the sweaty passion of tangled bodies.
Victory was having Kirishima Eijirou choose him, be with him, love him.
He achieved Victory every time Eijirou kissed his forehead good bye when he had an early shift, when ruby eyes stared at him with such reverence when he thought Katsuki wasn’t looking, when their bodies were connected as one with whispers of love passed between them that no other ears would ever hear.
Katsuki would always be victorious, so long as Eijirou was by his side.
