Shadow Milk had enough energy built up from anger and humiliation to conjure a portal for a few minutes to get back home.
Black Sapphire was closest to him when he came back. "Hello Master, have you obtained the soul jam? "
" No, but my amazing schemeing will absolutely pay off in the long run."
Black Sapphire hesitated before asking," Have you thought of trying a tactic other becoming Pure Vanilla's friend? No offense, but it just seems a bit over used and perhaps there are other less predictable ways of taking revenge. Plus, it doesn't exactly seem to be working."
Black Sapphire's remark confirmed two things he was avoiding to admit.
1. Black Sapphire was started to doubt his talent, and was going to leave. Not once in the thousands of years that Black Sapphire had been serving Shadow Milk had Black Sapphire seemed to have doubt about Shadow Milk. The worst part was that Candy Apple is likely going to leave with him, making him completely alone.
2. He was predictable. His plans had grown old. Even the softest cookie on Earthbread was now able to see through his plans. He wasn't unique, original, or creative anymore. Just predictable.
He didn't want to admit either. He'd rather be stuck in the deluted truth that Pure Vanilla was able to see through his lies. But perhaps it wasn't just Pure Vanilla anymore.
Shadow Milk also did not want to be alone again. He had been through this once when he was the Fount of Knowledge, so being completely alone is not something that he was unfamiliar with. That does not mean it was something he wanted.
"No. This plan is working. I don't need your help," he replied snarky and walked away.
Perhaps he was destined to be alone.
