Chapter Text
“Uggh…. So glad that’s all over….” said Moon, trudging down the hall. He had finished checking on the others who had been in the battle, making sure they were healing well. Ruin was slowly recovering from their DSP poisoning, and Solar’s new hand was calibrating and healing nicely. Charlie and her brothers had been told to give their parents space to rest and were more than happy to do so…..
Jack, on the other hand, threw an absolute fit when he was separated from Solar and KC. Sun had tried scolding him for it since he was a preteen and not a child, but the others had given him some leeway given everything Jack had gone through in his short life. In the end, Jack had been allowed to stay with his father and step-father.
“I gotta get some work done and relax….” Moon said, sighing as he set down a portal and stepped through into his lab. The fresh greenery of the plants instantly eased some of his tension as he walked to the elevator and entered it, pushing the button for the lower portion of his lab. He rolled his shoulders, allowing his joints to crack as he stretched. When the elevator finally dinged he stepped out and-
“W-What?” he said, his eyes widening as the sight of about a dozen small robots roaming around his lab. Each one was performing a task, and as he slowly began walking he saw more and more of them.
“Hello Moon. Good to see you again. How are the others?” asked Spaniard, one of the nearby cameras moving to watch Moon.
“Uh, they’re doing good….. recovering well…. Spaniard, what is all this? Why are there so many robots around?” Moon asked as he stepped into the main portion of the lab, his question immediately getting answered when he spotted a familiar yellow bot at the central terminal.
“Hm? Ah, hello Moon, I wasn’t expecting you down here so soon…. I hope you don’t mind, but I made some helpers for around the lab, mainly cleaners and organizers…..” Dark Sun said, turning in the chair he was sitting in. He adjusted his glasses as he ushered a small cleaner bot away, the bot cheerily heading on it’s way.
“……. You….. built all these….?” Moon said, stunned. He and Dark Sun had literally just decided to give dating a try, but damn did Moon love how smart the former attendant was to create so many little bots in such a short amount of time.
“Yes, I figured you could use the help down here…. I also upgraded your computer’s drivers and storage capacity…. 500 gigabytes, really? That’s not much at all, so I changed it to 5 terabytes….” Dark Sun said, crossing his arms. Moon just stared, dumbfounded, until logic quickly caught up to his brain as he looked over Dark Sun. His shock quickly changed to panic and worry.
“You should be resting! Why are you down here working?!” Moon said, quickly walking over to him. Dark Sun rolled his eyes.
“Moon, it’s fine…. I- H-HEY!!” Dark Sun exclaimed, his face immediately glowing as Moon scooped him out of the chair and began carrying him out of the lab. “I can walk myself!” Dark Sun complained, struggling a bit.
“Absolutely not! You’re still recovering and need rest! How did you even get down here without your cane?!” Moon questioned, re-entering the elevator and hitting the button to go up. Dark Sun just grumbled in response. He wasn’t used to someone caring and didn’t know how to react. Moon sighed as they exited the elevator and he opened a portal back to the house. He went to take Dark Sun to the guest room, then paused before turning and walking in the opposite direction.
“Moon, w-where are you taking me?” Dark Sun asked, noticing Moon wasn’t taking him to the guest room.
“Here….” Moon said, stopping in front of a different door and opening it. The room inside was painted a deep navy blue with galaxies and star formations painted on the walls. The carpet was black and the furniture was all a dark ebony wood with shades of dark blue and black acting as accents. Various small handmade figures lines one of the shelves while the others were filled with things like a storm glass, a rubik’s cube, and other various science-themes knickknacks. Several pictures of the family were on the walls along with posters of anime and space.
“Moon, I don’t think-!” Dark Sun didn’t finish as the lunar bot laid him on the bed, Moon interrupting him.
“Don’t argue…. You need rest, and since the curtains are blackout ones they’ll block the sun and help keep the room dark….” Moon said, shaking his head.
“Moon, this is YOUR room…. I-I can’t-” Dark Sun tried again, but Moon was having none of it.
“Dark Sun, it’s fine…. Rest….” Moon said, leaving before Dark Sun could say anything else. Dark Sun sighed as the door closed, a soft yellow glow still on his face as he curled up. They had just started dating, and Moon was already okay with him sleeping in his bed? Dark Sun shook his head as sleep pulled him under. Maybe this would be an interesting experience after all….
