Chapter Text
Day 1 meeting
Jackies Pov:
Jackie takes one deep breath as she puts her backpack down and leans back in her chair. She was absolutely perfect today, she would be queen bee in no time if she kept this up. For now she just needed at least an hour before she had to speak again.
Jackie is amazing at talking, holding conversations but it drains her. She's not used to talking, she's used to silence. At home there's no one there to hold a conversation with so being silent is her default. Sometimes it takes everything in her to try and get a word out. At school she does a good job at hiding this, If she doesn't talk she'll be forgotten.
She makes sure every semester that her last class has no one in it she wishes to talk to in order to hold up appearances. This semester the lucky class is english, The teacher was known for going on long lectures so she didn't need to worry about being called on. It was perfect and just what she needed to be able to recharge before cheer practice.
SLAM
Jackie nearly jumped out of her seat with her eyes shooting open. “What the hell!” She turned to notice steven hyde standing looking at her with a dumb smirk she wished to wipe off
“Sorry princess, Didn't mean to disturb nap time.” he sat in the seat next to her with his backpack he had just slammed down on his desk.
Before Jackie could respond the teacher walked in “okay everyone take your seats” Jackie faced forward pondering what had just happened. She had never talked to Steven so she was surprised how rude he was. It's fine, as long as he doesn't do anything else she can get over it.
Okay she couldn't get over it. Who did he think he was? She was someone and he didn't even feel bad for scaring her!. Jackie tapped her bright pink pen on the table before she got a brilliant idea. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Hydes Pov:
Man this was stupid if it was up to him he wouldn't be here, This is all kittys fault she guilt tripped him into showing up for class!. At least he had a seat in the back and by the window. If he kept his down low maybe the teacher wouldn't bother him.
This didn't last long, suddenly his right arm was hit with a book “Hey man what gives!” holding his shoulder he looked at the problem. Jackie the school princess just hit him with a book.
“Sorry!!! There was a spider on your shoulder!” Jackie turned to the teacher and in her nicest voice said “I hate spiders and I know I shouldn't have hit him but I was just so scared! I'm really sorry.” She turned back to Steven when she said the last part. Man she did look upset, maybe there really was a spider on hi- the corner of her lip curved up. Only he could she it as she wasn't facing anyone else. It vanished the second after it appeared and she faced back towards the teacher.
“It's okay, let's just not let it happen again.” With that the bell rang. Man this chick was crazy unfortunately for her he was crazier. Hyde grabbed Jackie's wrist as she got up and grabbed her back pack. She looked at him and raised one brow. “What? I said I was sorry. You should be thanking me, spiders are gross” Hyde released her wrist and stood up “ You know what man your right, All be sure to return the favor” With this he walked past Jackie.
Day 2
He got to class just before the bell rang swiftly making his way to his seat. “Ewww you smell like cigarettes” Jackie's voice was a whisper meant for only him to hear. This was definitely his least favorite class.
“How do you know what cigarettes smell like?” He looked at her, taking note of the annoyance on her face.
“Well- I- Ugh” Jackie turned away looking forward. He couldn't help but chuckle. Getting even was gonna be easier than he thought. He got the feeling if he breathed the wrong way it would annoy her. So he opted to taping his foot against the leg of her desk, shaking it. He could see her clench her jaw but remain still; he didn't mind waiting to see how long she would last with the annoyance.
5 minutes had passed before her notebook slid to the middle of the desk. In bright pink handwriting wrote “Stop it you goon!” He wanted a better response than that. After all she hit him with a freaking book!.
2 more long minutes passed before she snapped her head to look at him and shouted “ Ugh steaven for the last time no you can not have my number!” Wait what “ Where in class” She was visible frowning
The teacher walked over "Steven I know this isn't your favorite class but some of the students here actually enjoy learning. If you bother my students again thall be detention this is your first warning.” She patted Jackie's shoulder and gave her a sympathetic look before walking back to the front. Some kid giggled as they looked back to the front.
He was too stunned to speak.
In the basement
Hyde put his head in his hand “Am telling you this chick is insane! She evil man and am her target”
Eric nodded his head “She sounds like the devil”
Kelso “Man she can't be that bad! She's hot” when Hyde looked up he saw Kelso's dumb grin.
“Man, just help me think how to get back at her” He leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes. He wasn't one to lose a fight.
Thinking of ways to get back at a cheerleader is harder than you would think. He isn't about to go to their team's games for her. This meant he had to get creative and he had the perfect idea. Not that the guys in the basement were any help.
It was easy to notice Jackie wrote in only bright pink pens, Eric recalled a memory of seeing her lose on a teacher who said they wouldn't grade an essay written in pink.
The plan was simple let her think she won, When she was relaxed he would strike. After 2 weeks he was finally ready to put it into action. Everyday at class when everyone started packing their stuff away to head home Jackie would stop to talk to a "friend" This gave him plenty of time to take her pink pen without her noticing.
It was important that there be no evidence for her to accuse him of stealing them. Just as he planned she never batted an eye at him. Why would he take her pink pencils?
She must have had an endless supply of them because no matter how many he took she always had a new one. until he saw the princess open her locker. At least 20 pink pens raped together with a hair tie.
This was what he needed for his plan to work. He needed to take her supply so she didn't have any fall backs. Breaking into the locker would be the easy part, he'd do it after school so she 1 wouldn't know they were gone and 2 wouldn't suspect him.
It was relatively easy to sneak into the school and grab the pens. He even thought about adding a mustache to her ABBA poster but that might give him away so for now he resisted the urge. Now all he had to do was lay back and relax. Tomorrow morning she would have no precise pink pen to write with.
Jackies Pov
She was having a horrible week, The universe was out to get her!. She got dropped twice during cheer practice. Her parents were gone for almost 3 whole weeks returning without even greeting her.
And to top it all off she kept losing her pink pens. The specific ones she used had to be shipped in. Her father made her promise these would last her the semester. She hated writing in pencil it looked so boring and sad. Pink brightened her day up.
“Ugh” Jackie put her head onto her desk. She had lost every single one. Jakcie did not lose things! She left them in her locker. Could someone break into her locker…… for pink pens? The only one crazy enough to do that would be her.
“Forgot one of your cheers” As she looked up she could see him smirking. She must look good miserable because there is no other reason for him to be so happy about her downfall. There was no response to his question other than her head being laid back into her desk.
25 minutes later
She had to have misplaced them… Maybe she brought them home by accident? Yeah that sounds right. By tomorrow she would be writing in pretty pink once again. Well lost in thought, a note book slid to the middle of her desk.
In pretty pink and okay hand writing “You look sad? Mommy say no to a poney?” She knows that pink! She writes in it everyday!. Jackie shot up from her seat pointing “You thief! Those are mine!! You took them from me, Give them back”
Everyone in class including the students in the one next to it heard Jackie scream. “Jackie! What do you think you're doing? This is no time to be yelling about drama” The teacher said as she started walking towards them. Before Jackie could speak she heard a note book conveniently thrown out of the window. The teacher gasped “And what do you think you're doing! Is this class a joke to the both of you! Wait outside till the end of class where we will further discuss this.”
Jackie wanted to speak but everyone's eyes were on her. She couldn't breathe. Her mom said all spotlights are good but she must have never been humiliated. With shaky hands she walked out, slowly and calmly. If the students knew how she really felt it would only strengthen their gazes.
Her back hit the cool lockers as silence filled the hallway. She didn't need to open her eyes to know he was standing next to her.
Hydes Pov
Man, she started this…. And it was a simple prank! She overreacted. Maybe he should have expected that from a cheerleader. His gaze followed her as she put her back against the lockers. He spent most of his time sitting next to her, he never noticed how short she was. That wasn't the point
The point was he did nothing bad! It was a simple joke or a burn. She just needed to chill out man. So why did he feel bad. For a second he thought she might cry. She hadn't opened her eyes since they got out there.
“You uh… good?” She took a deep breath before answering him. “Who would think such a scary guy likes to write in pink.” If kelso was here he would have yelled BURN. Maybe she was fun.
After neither told the teacher what happened they were both given a warning. One more and he'd be sent to detention. Walking out of school he went a bit slower, one of his steps was two of hers.
“So” She said gently. He looked over his shoulder at her “I want my pens back. There expensive you know “ Hyde had to chuckle at that. Of course she would be using expensive pens. “Man, I don't have them.” After a second of silence passed “ I gave them to fez”
“The kid they keep putting in lockers?” She had stopped walking. Further away he yelled “Yep” exiting the school doors after.
