  1. I’m glad you like the core concept! This fic probably won’t be popular or anything but nothing like it really existed so I decided to make it.

Season 8 was… certainly a thing that happened. Oh yay Season 7 cliffhanger of a big invasion from Salem but let’s blow her up early so she’s barely in it! Also taking one of my favorite characters and making him nuts… not great.

Salem is literally the strongest person on remnant and she just??? Does nothing??? I want to fix that and make a more proactive Salem. On top of that I really think it’d be interesting for her to try to manipulate a “pure soul” like Ruby who is sometimes pure to the point of obliviousness. I hope you end up enjoying what I do with the characters.

    1. I approve of this idea. I personally am of the opinion that the two characters the most and least deserve happy ending apart from the gods because fuck them are most deserving: 1. Salem, 2. Ruby. And least deserving: 1. Ozma, 2. Cinder. I hate ozpin with a passion, like even more than dumboldore they both basically run a school to train child soldiers to use against an enemy of their own making but while dumbledore is just a bad person and can make the excuse that it was just harry ozpin literally created the schools so that the relics would always be defended by free cannon fodder in the name of students. Also I just hate him as a person and hate how they are pushing the narrative of him being a “hero” when he really really isn’t. Of team RWBY Ruby herself is kinda the only one that would not be in prison for live if judges for their crimes, she has the excuse of being two years younger and placed in a leader role told to give orders to, ahem, a spoiled brat, a former terrorist, and her older sister. She is an excellent leader in a fight but when it’s not that kind of situation she tends to get pulled along by her team. The ideas she comes up with are fairly decent and usually don’t break too many laws but the rest of team RWBY? Not so much. And don’t get me started on cinder and Salem. Salem has an excellent backstory but a presence that never does it justice she is basically a joke and if she wasn’t immortal would have been a complete push over. I just don’t we a satisfying ending for her. She is way to immature for the immortal all powerful being she is supposed to be. Personally I can’t get behind anything past vol. 4 and maybe 5. In volume 3 Salem is revealed as both the narrator and the big bad in one of my favorite monologues ever but then never really makes a huge impact afterwards. Cinder always feels like a better villain even if she has not only a much worse motive but also barely any personality.

      1. Salem definitely deserves a lot better than she's gotten. That woman has SUFFERED and it's basically all been at the hands of some hypocritical ass gods who were like "learn the value of life lol" and then vaporized her species. LIKE CLEARLY THE GODS NEED TO LEARN THAT LESSON TOO WTF. Bit of an overreaction to make Salem immortal for just wanting her love back and mouthing off when she didn't get it. Like Salem wasn't in the right in that situation obviously but the punishment far exceeded the crime but that tends to be the case with gods in most mythologies, they're dicks.

On Ozma... I have so many feelings about Ozma and most of them aren't good. The man literally returns from the grave for his wife and entirely ignores the mission from the god that sent him back and then finds out that Salem is just a tiny bit less demure and desperate for freedom than she used to be and ditches her. You could argue that her penchant for war and destruction was the reason but that doesn't change the fact that he LITERALLY KIDNAPPED THEIR KIDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITHOUT TALKING TO HER ONCE. She went to bed thinking everything was fine and woke up to her husband abandoning her all because she "wasn't the same." Then you factor in that Ozma must not have a problem with war in the first place considering he borderline started the bloodiest one in Remnant history as the king of Vale. It's a slap in the face essentially telling her "i'll go to war for the gods and my ideals of peace but i won't fight for you."

As for Cinder... I think she COULD be a very compelling character if she developed in any meaningful way. I hope to do that more in this fic too. She doesn't deserve redemption but at this point none of the villains do. The world is simply unfair and some might get it anyway regardless of the lives they ruined.

Ruby has certainly done some morally questionable stuff but it was usually under extreme duress where she was forced to make impossible choices. I won't spoil too much but since Ruby is getting kidnapped, being around villains so frequently is going to open her eyes to some things.
