Ah, Natsumi, welcome back! Your updates always brighten my day—good luck with the cleaning, though. May your efforts be as spotless as your storytelling.
The whole "Mingyue Protection Squad" (starring the kids) is adorable, though I can’t blame them for being a little wary. Ruohan doesn’t exactly radiate "charming fun uncle" vibes, does he? More like "mysterious brooding figure who might accidentally summon a demon during tea time." (Oh boy, that was an unintentional foreshadowing lol)
And Mingyue’s assumption that Ruohan’s good mood = murderous mischief is amusing. Meanwhile, young WangXian are just out here being the epitome of inseparable cuteness. The irony of Ruohan appointing himself as Mingyue’s protector from his own demonic side and cultivation is not lost on me. But it does make me wonder—how much of this chaos is truly Mingyue’s will? Is his demonic side *him*, or some parasitic entity co-piloting his brain? If it’s the latter, that’s a whole other can of worms. Sure, we all have dark thoughts, but having them amplified by a demonic freeloader? That’s next-level unfair. In a non-cultivation context, I’d chalk it up to personal demons running wild, but here? Who knows? Possession and body-snatching are basically Tuesday in this world.
The Jin had it coming, but I kind of feel sorry for Zixuan because he's, by far, the least objectionable of the bunch. However, I do dislike Madam Jin because she's another Madam Yu (albeit with less venom and more adequate parenting skills).
Xichen, Xichen. Do you have a death wish? Thank goodness Mingyue elected to consult Xin Yi first—small mercies.
Thanks for the update, as always! Can’t wait to see where this delightful mess goes next.
It's completely him. He doesn't know how to control his powers yet. He's still learning and he never did more than what he did after his return from the Burial Mounds. He didn't discover how far he can go yet. Think of this like that. He has instincts that drives him to harm his enemies. Resentful beings aren't merciful. They destroy. And that's what he did to the Jiang's. His instincts and revenge drove him to go that far. I hope I managed to explain it 😅 If not just let me know and I will try harder ☺️
Jin Zixuan is someone I'm still undecided about. But I think I will be nicer to him here.
