Summary
Kyoya couldn’t help himself. There were so many secrets, so many of Takashi’s passionate words left for the trash. Once the rest were finally ready to leave, he walked with them just long enough, and dashed back for his bag.
Slender fingers stole the crushed paper from the bin in an instant, nestling his prizes in the laptop crease of his bag, he thought of a possible Host Club book of love poetry and photos. Pushing his glasses up and bowing his head slightly, could he get the hosts to pose for the words? Would even he use this raw passion? It was technically garbage, in its own way.
Would the damage outweigh the gain? At least he could satisfy his nagging curiosity, no matter what it revealed about his almost silent giant compatriot. Then a decision could be made.Series

Summary
Kyoya paused at this rejected poem, his slim fingers smoothing it out, erasing the hard lines pressed into the paper. To his surprise, this one spoke to him, not about him.
How many times had he seen Mori meditate when the Host Club was empty, giving away nothing but the impression of calm? A faint flush crossed his cheeks, alone in his room, rummaging through another man’s heart.
Kyoya had his glasses, his laptop, the pen and notebook to hide behind. He wondered uneasily if these props worked as well as they should. Mori had fooled them all with nothing but silence.
The Shadow King of the Host Club crumpled briefly into what he was, a teenager on the edge of adulthood. He sighed, straightened his spectacles and moved on. If Morinozuka could find peace in weakness, then so could he.

Summary
Kyoya had few pleasures that he would consider guilty.
However, his new nightly ritual of reading a piece of Mori’s discarded poetry had become one.He respected the almost-mute Kendo Champion, and that respect itself was a rare thing in Kyoya’s life. His loyalty, compassion and discipline were also part of an equation that Kyoya respected and, he’d admit it to himself in the dead of night, admired.
It had been only a slight surprise that Mori’s feelings for Haruhi were not exactly platonic; he’d long suspected the quiet man, like Kyoya, was drawn to her in some way.
What had stunned him was the depth of feeling that Mori’s written words had betrayed. He loved her with a fierceness that Kyoya marveled at, and worshipped her with a tenderness that Kyoya honestly feared.
It was no wonder that his eyebrows shot up into two perfect arcs of shock when he unfurled tonight’s poem. His hand shook slightly as he read. Jamming the hand into his pocket, he stood, looking for his bottled water.
So. There were different prices to be paid when staring at another’s soul.
After a second reading, he decided to make an early night of it by his standards, and strode to his cool bed.

Summary
Kyoya had spent several uneasy nights with the last poem, but the call of unread papers, discarded secrets, still tempted him with words from that imposing silent soul. Who knew what value could be hidden between the lines? Mori’s stoic grey eyes missed very little, he knew.
Allowing himself to fall back into his guilty pleasure, he opened an obscenely expensive bottle of water, and set his work tidily aside. Settling back in his decadently comfortable desk chair and flicking open the top buttons of his shirt, he paused to wonder if Mori knew of this voyeuristic pleasure. There was more power in Mori alone than the family’s Black Onion Squad. Goosebumps. Had fear become a bigger kink? He liked the idea, but didn’t dwell.
Instead, he chose a very tight ball of paper from his hoard, and, heart-rate rising, began to pull gently at the small openings, careful not to tear the poem he was certain was within.

Summary
It had been a while since Kyoya had chosen from his slowly dwindling stash of Takashi’s poems.
After the one that smelled of sweat and expensive malt whisky, but read like half love-confession, half pornographic novella in broken rhyme, he’d taken a little break. He was sure the twins were involved with that, and it left him uneasy.
The sting of reading what had been usually been such intimate words feel that wrong had finally faded.
Kyoya was not required this evening. Soon he’d get to trading, but the strange call of Morinozuka’s words echoed.
Reclining with an angular grace, he pulled out a heavy mess of papers, smashed together harder than the drunken poem. He’d been eyeing it since taking all of the rejected poems.
True, they had not been great works, but they spoke to him in a way that made him feel odd things. Tonight was the perfect time for another peculiar journey.
With that, he relaxed, a model of comfort in simple black jeans, damp spiky hair, his white shirt open after his evening shower. This one, he thought, pulling the papers apart. What will he show me this time?

Summary
Kyoya still could not tell if he was embarrassed, impressed, or amused.
His upperclassman had seen through him. He ought to have anticipated it. In quiet truth, he still felt a bit stupid and numb.
Tricked, but with kindness.
He curled up against one of his most comfortable pillows and read what he thought of as the second drunken poem, surprised that there was more than one.
Despite his own trouble, it was hard not to feel for the beautiful broken man who had laid out his soul in little balls of bad poetry.

Summary
Upright, the motion and fear both propelled him into awareness- Surfacing. Too soon, you don’t — Breathe, Kyoya, breathe. How?
It was still dark, his bedroom’s familiar shapes outlined only by the faintest of artfully placed light strips along subtle panels. Nothing to drive the night away.
His heart hammered a slightly slower beat, and he obeyed himself, pulling in shallow breath after shallow breath, knowing they should be deeper. Deeper! Now release your hands. Do it. Managing a gasp, he almost said it out loud.

Summary
“Why do you stay?”
It was such a simple question, but very unlike Tamaki to ask. Kyoya floundered for a moment, staring at his laptop. Was his King uncertain? After all this, what more did he need?
Had Takashi— He stopped, corrected himself swiftly— Had Mori-Senpai betrayed their new, unspoken trust? Who else knew?
He had to keep his cool. That, at least, should not be a problem.Part 1 of 3

Summary
Kyoya was smiling to himself, a tuneless hum escaping his lips occasionally. Even the clothing spread all around his room, hanging over almost every surface could not sway his mood. Fuyumi had clearly stopped by.
Still, the day had gone exceptionally well. He was happy. Happy? He weighed the thought. No, to be accurate, he was elated. His face split into a rare, toothy grin, full of joy. Pity he was alone in his room, no one could bear witness to the event. Hmmm. Elated.
His mind wandered back to the time spent after club hours, almost glued to his very enthusiastic boyfriend. What a word that was for what they had! His Tamaki. Pulling away only for the minimum of study, he now toyed with the last scraps of unread poetry, the catalyst to his current joy. What he found stole some of the voltage from his glow.

“Haruhi! You have a package!” Ranka’s lovely lilting falsetto filled the small apartment.
A well-manicured hand, with perfect long nails of scarlet, held the thick brown package. It had no return address. After careful shaking and hefting, Ranka decided that it must be papers. Not as exciting as a dessert, certainly, but it could mean something to Haruhi.

Summary
The two of them had remained in almost the same position, there in the prop closet. Kyoya could not bring himself to lift his head as it slipped further down his fellow host’s chest, no, he thought, his friend’s chest, marring flat linen as he burrowed his head under the shelter of Takashi’s wide-cut sleeve. Clinging to the larger man, he adjusted into the hug; glasses falling. He did not hear them break, and was shocked that this contact was more important.
Somewhere there was the click of a camera— a black and white image of this strange moment preserved in the photo book of his mind.
He hid his face, pressed halfway inside that massive jacket, sheltered and secure— his tear-stained face rested below the giant upperclassman’s heart.
Beneath Mori’s heart…

"No, I don't," came Mori's deep response.Series

[In which a slow simmer starts to bubble a bit. Finally!]
“I’d like to request Morinozuka” said a clear, calm voice.
There was none of the usual giggling, also, there was no room for doubt that Mori was being selected by himself, without Honey.
While unusual, it was not unheard of, and Kyoya snapped to attention, ready to seat them.

Summary
The day after Valentine's Day, Haruhi was absent. This didn't happen, it was an impossibility, but the fact was she wasn't at school and no one had heard a thing. It was lousy timing for a certain student. If Takashi had known why she was out, he would've felt even more guilty than he already did.
