After it was revealed that when Zol wrote a bad ending for Tutor and Fighter - it really was a very bad ending, she tried to fix it. Only that “fixing” meant destroying her novel and resetting the story. Now it is not a story anymore but reality.
Tutor and Zon still remember everything that happened while everyone else does not. One got robbed of his happy ending and wants it back. The other escaped his bad ending and tries everything in his power to not repeat past mistakes.
Tutor doesn’t want Fighter to fall in love with him again - so he is letting go. Sounds easier than it's done.
