Buggy has amassed quite a devoted following after Impel Down, the former Impel Down prisoners turned Buggy followers are hopelessly devoted to their emperor and will go to great lengths to show their undying devotion to him. However, their acts of devotion for their captain often backfires on him in the most unfortunate ways.
With the latest mishap involving an engagement ring the rumor spreads through the seas about Buggy having a 'secret fiancé.' Buggy has to deal with adapting to the role of being a new emperor along with all trying to keep up a facade of being engaged to a secret person that does not exist.
Now red haired Shanks shows up to Karai Bari Island unannounced and uninvited following the rumors. Can Buggy's luck get any worse?

Silvery voice snapped my eyes open. The man joined me leaning against the ship. The thick fabric of his jacket brushing carelessly against my shoulder, standing just closer than I’d realized he was.
“No, not at all.” I responded. “What gave you that impression?” He shrugged his eyes moving from the water to me.
“Just checking. We’re still close enough if you jumped ship now you could probably swim back.” He laughed mostly to himself, the sound causing a warm feeling to pool on the pit of my stomach.
“I don’t think I’ll be doing any swimming tonight.” I smiled back returning a laugh. “You’re not trying to get rid of me already are you?”
He gave me an exaggerated gasp. Raising a hand appalled by such an accusation. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” A small giggle escaped my lips, the tips of my ears burning. His smile grew wider, the red lip overstating his own. Eyes. Look at his eyes Don’t look at his lips. I scolded myself, though if I were being honest his eyes weren’t much safer. Waitering at Baratie is not a bad life, but that doesn’t mean life couldn’t be better. That life didn’t use to be better.
It’s Wednesday evening, and that means entertainment is on the menu for the restaurant’s late night diners. Shivs enjoys doing so, truly, but her mood has been spiraling and she’s not feeling it today. (Un)fortunately, she is not the only entertainer in the room. And the show must go on.
The story is a quasi-character study because I like writing those. Therefore, it is focused a lot around Shivs, Buggy, and by extension the rest of the Buggy Pirates, and how they respond to everything going down, their back stories and their baggage.
The plot loosely follows the OPLA timeline, though I've pulled things in from the Anime and Manga that I personally enjoy. It's written in third-person limited, similar to ASoIaF/GoT. Not just because I am used to it, but because it works best when focusing on characters their inner lives vs their perception of the world. Yes, that means there is Buggy PoV. Enjoy.

Buggy had feelings for Shanks but didn’t believe anyone could actually love her in that way. So when he confessed to she refused him harshly.
Shanks becomes depressed and won’t say anything so they got the Whitebeard Pirates involved and they helped a lot.
