“My name is Charlie Spring,” he whispers, staring at the unfamiliar boy in the glass. “My name is Charles Francis Spring,” he tries again, attempting to mimic the way his family speaks and wrinkling his nose when it comes out sounding all wrong.
“I am Charlie Spring,” he says one more time, desperately, trying to ignore the way the name feels wrong on his tongue. The way his body feels too tight and uncomfortable, as if he's been shoved into something that isn't meant to fit him.

“The Tower,” Tara says. “That’s uhm… personal transformation, fear of change and averting disaster.” She stops. “Oh, wait, that’s for Tower Reversed. You’re the Tower Upright.” When she looks up at Charlie, he’s gone pale. “Charlie? Are you alright?"
Charlie suddenly stands, the chair knocking over behind him, hands shaky, head jerking to look up at the ceiling. It seems that whatever is on the ceiling calms him enough and he sits down, chuckling awkwardly. “Sorry. Sorry, I don’t— I don’t know what that was about.”
“See, I feel like the hand stuff is way cooler," Darcy says. "Anyone can fake a card trick. But your hands? Everybody’s got hands. Well… not everybody. But the people who do, they can’t exactly cheat their hands, yeah?” Darcy takes Charlie’s hand in theirs. “See, here’s your lifeline and… wait. Yours goes in two directions—”
“It’s split,” Charlie says. “Broken into two.”
