“Deke!” Omega squealed, her voice reaching a pitch that made both Batcher and Hunter flinch away from the living room and made the moonyo playing with the lurca hound’s tail cover his little green ears. “Watch out! That's my ice cream!”
“Sorry!” the softhearted cadet called back. “I can't move under here.”
“Nobody can.” Mox's words were muffled, turned to mush by the amount of pillows and blankets between him and the Batchers. “We need more pillows to make it bigger.”
Echo had been calmly stirring a pot of whatever was for dinner as it simmered on the stove, but at that, his head snapped up, nostrils flaring.
“And just where do you think you'll be getting more pillows?” he asked flatly. He had already burned one dish due to the noisy distractions known as Omega, Lyana, and the three cadets, so he was just a tad cranky.
Suddenly, he stopped stirring and wrinkled his nose. “And why is there ice cream in the living room?”

Batcher wants to bring a moonyo inside. Hunter does NOT want her to bring the moonyo inside. Unfortunately, his siblings seem to agree with the lurca hound.
Basically, Hunter is terrible at saying no.
“Don't even think about it!”
Shep stopped abruptly on his path, then started forward with a curious quickening of his step. When he approached the end of the short, cobblestone path that led from the bottom of the hill to the Batch’s house, a cozy affair that had only recently been crafted with learning hands and joyful hearts, he tilted his head at the scene that was playing out on the porch.
Hunter was at the door, his face set in an uncharacteristically stern expression, fists planted on his hips as he levelled serious golden eyes at the being in front of him. “You are not bringing that thing into this house,” he said firmly. “We’ve been over this a dozen times.”
Batcher whined and gave the sergeant her most adorable version of puppy eyes, her thin tail thumping against the porch planks in a steady fwump fwump fwump that Shep could easily interpret as please please please?

Hunter feels bad for his riduur. Crosshair is too sensitive to enjoy anything. He’s pissy and annoyed more than any other emotion. It makes Hunter feel bad. While they both agreed to have a baby, Crosshair is the one with the heaviest burden. He’s had to take a break from working at the bakery, he can no longer train or play with Omega like he used to, and he can never stay comfortable for long. He’s frustrated and snippier with his family.
No one blames him though, they understand he’s more disgruntled at himself.
Hunter shows Crosshair exactly what he thinks of the way his body has changed.

Hunter paused. He reached out and fumbled for his comm to check the date and, sure enough, according to the Galactic calendar it was indeed the day he was born. Well, decanted would be more accurate. He was a clone, after all.
“Ah. So it is.”
