A water drop falls on the words, the ink smearing ever so little. The emperor does not need to touch his cheek, grey-bearded and roughened with age, to know it is a tear for more come running, making the poem blur in front of his tired, burning eyes, conjuring through the blur a face, inutterably beautiful, serene, tender, melancholic. “I have a theory,” announced Pippin, setting down a stack of papers on the table.
Gimli grumbled incoherently under his breath, staring intently at the board in front of him as Merry placed a piece triumphantly.
Merry turned to Pippin, a sort of patronizing groan on his face. “Where have you been these past few days?” he asked.
“In the library,” Pippin said.
Merry raised an eyebrow.Or, Pippin gets into a little ill-advised historical speculation, and everybody turns out to be a little bit wrong

Entrusted in the keeping of King Elessar Telcontar by Lord Elrond Peredhel at the turning of the Ages (FO 1.), these elven relics were kept and preserved as per Lord Elrond Peredhel’s last will made upon the shores of Middle-earth (Royal Archive, sect. 15, E.01.). As outlined by said will, the Elrond Peredhel Collection was to be held within the King’s Storage Houses for the minimum of 2000 years, and the maximum of an additional century, or if within that timeframe should such an event come to pass that an elf of black hair and shining silver eyes with a hand possessing a burn scar, and may possibly give any combination of the names: Kanafinwë, Makalaurë, Maglor, or Fëanorion, should he seek out the Collection, any and all items of his choosing must be released into his care.
