Summary
William Wisp is just your average seventeen year old. What do you mean teenagers aren't supposed to be undead and have ghost powers? What do you mean most people aren't infamous supervillains who are partnered with Mallard Conway? Ah whatever, what do you know.
Vyncent Sol, or better known as Virion, is the apprentice of the great heroes Silhouette and The Hexpert.
Ashe Winters is just like Vyncent, except he has anxiety, what a joy! Oh, and he's also the son of a very popular hero and felt forced into becoming a hero as to not disappoint his dad, but that's not really important, is it?
Dakota Cole is (unlike William) an normal kid. He lives an average life. Everyday he goes to school and does his work. He has no powers, no hero identity. He's just a kid, struggling with the death of his parents.
Now, what happens when the four of these people cross paths?
Or, William is a supervillain in training under Mallard. Vyncent and Ashe are heroes, but they kind of suck at their job. And Dakota is so fucking bored of being normal.
Or, or, in a random brain blast I got this idea, and now all of you have to deal with it :)

Many years ago black fire swept through the Whispering Woods. The Whisperer only managed to save a small portion, and it led to the establishment of WATCH. Now, many generations later, Clarence finally has a successor. A successor who has somehow slipped through everyone's fingers and gone missing.
Dakota fell, gained superpowers, and is now determined to join WATCH as a Guardian. Virion fell of the floating island he called home, and woke up in a strange place with strange new friends. And William fell off a cliff, led to his death by strange blue fireballs, and now might be the only person left capable of saving everything, if only someone can explain to him how to stop falling through the floor.
AUTHOR NOTE: Season 1/Act 1 is complete but this story will most likely be continued in the future.

They weren't supposed to be fighting Overlord. The Prime Defenders weren't supposed to be captured. So William did the only thing he could do: he ran, and made a deal with a devil.
Basically, this is a AU/What If of how I thought the fight with Overlord was going to go, with a few creative liberties and Mallard playing a much bigger roll. Enjoy.

She reached for the cube, her focus dropping for a sharp second allowing the flesh meteor to get one good lash out, grabbing at her leg. She feels it cut deep, the tendril cutting through her knee before she manages to get another grip on the spell. With her focus on the spell again she hesitated opening the cube horizontally and snapping it shut, when the meteor was contained.
She sighs standing in front of the destruction. She sways for a moment, her breathing heavy as she drops to her knees. Her vision blurs for a moment as she stares, the ground coming like a blur as she collapses.

Dakota smiled up to Lightspeed as she followed him the first time and , the first jump he couldn't quite keep his footing trying to stick the landing , it was odd feeling all the extra static in his legs when he landed and bailed to the grass. Quickly Dakota scrambled back up too his feet eager to try again.
He attempted again and again with Lightspeeds supervision, attempting the jump and bailing to the grass. His heart beating faster with each attempt, he was fine though, he's had worse.

Dakota forgets what happens when he puts too much stress on his mechanical heart.

Like a puppet being strung up, Ashe felt her arm get lifted into the air by the Capitol person, obviously some attempt at a triumphant, heroic gesture. Some kind of acknowledgement that this was an opportunity, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight and die in the games.

All that mattered to them was creating an enthralling show, and portraying Vyncent as a thrilling enough character to make viewers tune in.
So, they cleared their throat before taking Vyncent’s wrist, holding it up to the skies as he curled his hand into a fist, posture straight, just the way his father had taught him.

lightspeed had told tide that it was more of a safety precaution than anything else. the advantages that modern inventions had were always double-edged in some way. he decided to believe her, because he didn't have anything to gain from distrusting her words. besides, being selected for this patrol was an honour that tide was more than willing to accept.
he wanted to prove that he was capable. determined, even. someone worthy of the time and effort it took to give him the life that he didn't deserve.

“Oh! Right!” Dakota said as he recognized the loud, muffled music coming from the door behind him. “Give me one second!” Then turned and walked a few steps toward it, grabbing the handle.
He swung open the door, unmuffling the sound and letting the loud , blaring music of Bring me back to life by Evanessence blast out from the room ahead of him, lights off, shrouded in darkness...
