Summary
Without Elim’s resistance, doing a deep scan on his body systems was much easier. The first thing Bashir noted: his Bajoran flu had definitely developed into pneumonia. Bashir had in fact been worried about that - the respiratory systems of reptilian species could get awfully finicky with chronic exposure to improper temperatures and humidity, which perfectly described the Federation-standard environmental settings of DS9. However, he had hoped that they’d started the antibiotics treatment in time to prevent that… clearly not.
The second thing he noted was a thin, curved, inorganic object nestled in Elim’s postcentral gyrus. Tiny filaments stretched from the device to other sections of his brain.
Well, fuck.
