“I agreed to help you two look for it, I didn’t sign up for some second grade treasure hunt.” He grumbles as he hands over the plastic pill bottle.
“Don’t look at me, I’m not the one who lost it,” says Sam as he levels an accusatory look right at Steve.
--
The shield is gone. Steve knows it's Natasha who's taken it, but instead of just giving it back (too easy, that would never happen), she sends him, Bucky, and Sam the long way around.

“wait, are we all going trick-or-treating?” constance pops up by debbie’s elbow. when debbie only shrugs, the dark-haired girl joins the kids in a rather intense hunt for good superhero costumes. essentially an overgrown child herself, she fits right in, dragging nine-ball into the chaos with her, and they make their rounds in not one, not two, but three stores before they find everything they want. they spend half of it calling nonsensical things that debbie doesn’t understand back and forth to each other; it sort of makes debbie’s head hurt, a little (but she doesn’t mind as much as she should).
or, the ocean's 8 ladies (plus tammy's kids) dress up as superheroes. also, constance has a lot of questions about just how debbie and tammy's relationship slow-built into what it is now.

“We’ve had snow every year.” Sadie sighs again, plucking off one of the red and green M&M decorations on the roof of her house, popping it in her mouth and chewing noisily before sighing once again with a, “I hate global warming.”
“Me too, me too.” You give a sympathetic smile, pulling her into your arms for a little while, a nice reassuring hug. Before you let her go, you try to get her back in the spirit by whispering real quiet so only she can hear, “But instead of worrying about that for right now, why don’t you run up and get ready for bed, hm? Santa Claus can’t come if you’re not asleep by eight.”
That perks Sadie right up, and before you know it she’s bolting out of your arms with a glance at the clock, realizing it’s already seven-thirty.
