Idia takes a shaky, deep breath in front of him. She's warm enough with sleep that Ortho's heat sensors can feel it. He wants to reach out, to cling, to cry and for big brother to comfort him.
Still, Ortho does not move.
Idia moves, stiff, jerky, to wrap her arms around Orthos shoulders, tucking his head into her chest, her face in his hair. And she whispers, voice reedy and strained, low in her throat like its scraping her on the way out.
"I'm sorry." Orthos spirit sink. "I'm sorry- Ortho- I'm." She sniffs into his hair, flames flicking against her cheeks. Ortho wants to hug her. He wants, he wants.

Leona wasn't conflict-avoidant. He was interaction-avoidant. He just wanted to sleep.
(Some would argue that he wasn't conflict-avoidant principally because he seemed to be the perpetrator of so many conflicts- these people were nothing more than pissy herbivores throwing a fit. Their opinions did not matter.)
Leona couldn't say the same for Jamil Viper.
Jamil Viper was professionally conflict-avoidant. He saw conflict coming at him from miles away and dodged with expert ease. He had eyes on the back of his head and the palms of his hands and the backs of his hands and on every little braid solely for the purpose of identifying conflict so he could escape it before it approached. He spoke so coldly, so measuredly, so mildly that to provoke conflict with him was to feel shame press in on you from directions you hadn't even known existed. He simply tasted conflict on the air and turned the other way round.
He was about two seconds away from socking Kalim in the face.

When spring break finally arrives, Kalim surprises you when he invites you and Grim to join him and Jamil in attending a Scalding Sands annual festival, Al'ab Nariya, at the end of the week, because he wants you to have a nice, mini vacation to help you recover from recent, stressful events. He even decides to invite other friends of yours to make the trip all the more enjoyable for you, much to Jamil's exasperation. Naturally, you're all too happy to accept the invitation since you'll never turn down a chance to spend time with friends, and you're eager to see what Kalim and Jamil's hometown is like for yourself, especially after having so much fun visiting Epel's hometown.
Hopefully, this vacation will turn out a lot better than your last one. For your sake and Jamil's.

Ever since the events that might as well have led to the end of the world– Er, twice actually, there’d been some sort of vendetta against Night Raven College.
An increased fear against mages in general due to the power they wielded– It certainly wasn’t helped much by the many overblots that had been covered up by the school, which had been revealed to the public.
If you didn’t count the Shroud siblings nearly unleashing Phantoms to wreak havoc on the world, then you’d definitely at least have to count Malleus Draconia, overblotting and creating a large field that put everyone to sleep.
Unfortunately considering the people high up who had to get involved to get people to evacuate and monitor the very risky situation… Yeah it wasn’t like they could just sweep it under the rug.
It's been 4 years since then. Night Raven College still existed, albeit facing a large amount of criticism. Whether it was for failing to take care of its students to where several faced experiences where by all accounts should have died, whether it was for raising delinquents and monsters to later unleash upon the world.

Cater Diamond had a unique sort of signature spell. Or, well, maybe that was a bit egotistical. While most people’s unique magic were centered around them, giving off a bit of who they really are, Cater was made around his spell.
...
In that way, Cater developed a natural way to make it seem normal for constant photo-taking. Constant, because of being put in dangerous situations again and again made him paranoid, and it temporarily soothed his worries to know that he had a photo of them that he could use if needed. The fresher the photo though, the more powerful it was.
Tagging it helped him remember and make certain photos stand out from others. Like hashtags on a social media post. (Photos posted on social media didn’t work though).
So in the end, Cater just made it his life. Made himself friendly and approachable, known as the social media guy. It just made things easier.
