Summary
She let out another whimper. She was going to die. This beast that had driven off the owls was going to kill her, maybe eat her. She thought of those two statues back at her nest; her parents, who stood guard eternally, their wings drawn protectively around the shelter, hollow eyes gazing down. Maybe she would meet them.
“Open your eyes, little owlet. You are safe now.”
-Baur's Reach has fallen into winter when he finds and brings home a hurt owlet, one with no parents or home to return to. He tries his best to care for her, but she is hurting, and her wounds run deeper than the eye can see. He may not be able to undo all the damage, but he can give her a second chance.
