Ares, cursed by Chione, is freezing despite blankets and fire. Apollo tells Hephaestus that only his body heat can warm Ares. Initially reluctant, Hephaestus agrees after Apollo warns of Hera's wrath. Ares protests, but Apollo clarifies Hephaestus will just sleep beside him. In the chaos, Hephaestus accidentally falls onto Ares, whose cold body draws him in. Ares pulls Hephaestus closer, realizing the warmth works, and demands he stay. Apollo teases Ares about bringing Chione, which scares him. As the night goes on, Hephaestus is uncomfortable with their close proximity but endures, hoping the night ends soon.

“Lord Ares-” Thanatos breathed, his voice seeming like a faint moan under the drowning of his heart beat. Ares pulled away. A firm grip of his hips kept Thanatos in place, despite him stretching his neck to take another kiss.
“In this bedroom, we are equals.” Ares said, his sweet breath fanning over Thanatos’ face. Breathing even the scent of the wine was enough to warm Thanatos’ body.
“Ares.” He whispered, feeling as though the drop in formality could be heard by the whole House. Ares smiled, though it didn’t reach his eyes. He dipped his head down and began to take Thanatos’ neck on his lips, kissing, sucking, biting the skin. Thanatos could do nothing but shudder, sighing softly as Ares continued to mark his skin. Could do? There was nothing he wanted to do other than to let Ares have his way.
