Lan WangJi es un profesor de astronomía que vive la misma aburrida rutina. Tras recibir una segunda oportunidad en la vida como hada de la lluvia en un bosque, pasa el tiempo bailando, cuidando animales y cubriendo el bosque con lluvia. Admite que a veces se siente solo, pero no puede ser descubierto por ningún humano... ya que eso rompería el contrato mismo que asegura su existencia perpetua.
Todo cambia cuando en una noche, Lan WangJi va a su conocido lugar de observación de estrella para distraerse. Su estado mental está en un punto crítico y no ve ningún sentido en tener esperanzas sobre su futuro. Lo único que lo mantiene conectado a la realidad es mirar las estrellas.

So if he’d wanted to help the injured rabbit when it approached him, is that really his fault? Is it his fault that he followed it when it ran, concerned that it would hurt itself further? That he didn’t realize where they were going until he was completely and hopelessly lost in the same forest he’d always been warned about?

Lan Wangji is an astronomy professor living the same boring routine. With pressure from his brother and colleagues regarding his love life and future plans, to no longer feeling the same passion for what he once truly loved, Lan Wangji feels lost and depressed.
Wei Wuxian’s family died when he was little. Given a second chance at life through being a rain fairy in a forest, he spends his time dancing, caring for animals, and covering the space in showers. He admits he feels lonely at times, but he can’t be discovered by any humans… as that would break the very contract ensuring his continued existence.
This all changes when one night Lan Wangji goes to his familiar stargazing spot as a way to escape. His mental state is at a breaking point and he sees no point in being hopeful about his future. The only thing grounding him to reality is looking up at the stars.
Wei Wuxian happily dances in the weather of his creation but stops when he sees a man collapsed on the nearby hill next to his forest. Was he dead? What should he do? The choice and risk Wei Wuxian takes changes both of their futures forever… but at what cost?

Before he realized what he was doing, Wei Wuxian slipped away from the tall grass that grew by the bridge, his wings flutter slightly so they wouldn’t notice him flying by. It was easy to spot the bright white amidst the grey and green foliage that grew among the pond, so Wei Wuxian followed the pair – careful to hide every time they turned corners.
