During the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Josephine Montilyet and Cassandra Pentaghast must navigate a thorny political problem, only to discover what’s needed is introspection and a willingness to help one another grow.
A mixture of humor, Thedosian politics, and a freewheeling conservation that will poke and prod at their world views.
A non-romantic piece, with two friends quite different from one another who do not see eye to eye on most matters.
Both Cassandra and Josephine will share beliefs that not all fans will agree with. This is by design. My interpretation is that both characters are fundamentally “good” but not saints, and each has their own flaws in worldview and that the *point* of this piece is to encourage us all in the real world to reflect and grow ourselves, making a better world in the process. :)

Josephine stood straighter and positioned her writing board to protect her like a shield. The Herald was hardly older than her, and she was very beautiful, too, if a little dusty and beat up.
But weren’t most people beautiful? Josephine belonged to a social class where most people were lucky enough to be rich and enhanced their looks by whatever means necessary according to societal standards. Josephine had worked with those unrealistically beautiful people every day and she’d grown up around them, too. She was one such creature, in her own humble opinion, so the Herald’s obvious attractiveness was easy to take in stride.
But, fixing her posture and curling some hair behind her ear was still a good idea.

Josephine Montilyet, accompanying former Inquisitor Louise Adaar to Minrathous, finds herself caught in a web of intrigue that will test her mind, and more significantly, her heart.
Can she stay true to herself in this land of tears and cruel indifference? Can she show that heroism takes many forms?
This narrative takes place during the events of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and assumes a romance between Adaar and Josephine. In-game decisions in The Veilguard are deliberately kept vague so as to make the work more applicable.

The voice is unfamiliar and Josephine, very much on edge, starts to find a person between her and Leliana. The soft-spoken boy who had carried Roderich looks up at Cullen from under the brim of his unusual hat, and she takes a step back, unnerved.
“She will bring down the mountain.” The boy continues and never breaks eye contact with Cullen, who cannot hide his discomfort. “She wants to wash him away, into a grave of ice and stone. It’s going to drown her too.”
Haven is under siege. In the midst of the chaos, and despite it all, Josephine finds that her mind is occupied with fears for the Herald's safety.

How love sparks in the face of adversity, Alyve will never understand, but Josephine is making it easy.
This story is woven within the canon plot, but certain liberties have been taken to make it a bit more "unique"-if you will-as opposed to a carbon copy of a story/romance we all know and love. This will most likely have smut and suggestive themes later on, so I will change the rating as I go. I tried to stay as true to the source material and characterization as possible. This is a selfish fic but honestly that's what all fics are at the end of the day.
