In many ways it’s done exactly what years of bullying and abuse never could: taught him to stand up for himself a little better, given him some rudimentary skill with a sword, and most importantly, given him a taste of how it feels to rise to a challenge. He feels that static charge in the air, now, for all that Ed’s body language is relaxed.
Ed is smiling, a little, behind the crystal edge of his glass. “I don’t think we should get ropes involved on your first time round,” he says.

Now several thousand dollars deep in his investment, Mr. Bonnet is determined to keep his quaint little shop afloat, but he’s not quite sure how…

Stede Bonnet was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He's miserable anyway. Stuck in a loveless marriage with another company heiress, two children he loves dearly but can't seem to truly connect with, and a job that is somehow both high-ranking and do-nothing, he tells his wife he'll be away for six months on a sabbatical, scoping out the country. That part is the honest truth. The bit she doesn't know about is the abandoned school bus he'd purchased and done up to be his travel van, and the fact that he's not actually looking for places to expand the family business. He's going on a road trip from New York City to Malibu, and he's certainly not afraid to pick up hitchhikers. He plans to return to his family at the end of the year, he really does. What he has in Manhattan, it's good, and he's a very lucky man. But Edward Teach makes him question all of it.

When Stede finds himself fantasizing about Ed and desperate for relief, he's pleased to discover that Ed is fast asleep, which means Stede can basically go to town as long as he keeps himself reasonably quiet.

An Actor/Theater AU
Stede Bonnet runs a community theater group and tailor shop, although his current problem lies with the first one. Lacking interested participants, he and his crew are forced to take on the roles in Shakespeare's Hamlet. The only thing they lack is someone to play the leading role.
Edward Teach is a famous action star bored of playing the same role for over a decade. When he sees a video of Stede practicing for the play, Ed throws caution to the wind and auditions to be the Hamlet to Stede's Horatio.
There's romance (duh), action (on stage), and betrayal (on social media). Reputations and hearts will be at risk, and the question is: Which one will our heroes choose?
