In short: reader has ptsd from an adventure gone wrong and has trouble navigating a strengthened fight or flight response.

Summary

“Will said you’re a witch.” “Dude,” Lucas groans, his tone acting as a warning that the boy doesn’t seem to take, the excitement only building with every passing second she remains silent. “He said that you like, cast spells and shit.”
There’s another warning, this time with an elbow finding its way deep into his ribcage, and it’s enough to shift the tides. A look once filled with wonder was now washed away, overcome with something more somber, though clearly forced, leaving Autumn feeling uncomfortable. She understands grief can do unbelievable things to some, but this was..a little harder to swallow. “It’s a little more complicated than that,” she replies in a soft tone, eyes finding Joyce once more to make sure she hadn’t left.
