For a long minute, the only sound is the game music until Aaron sighs and picks up his controller again to maneuver back to the main screen.
Aaron glances over and snorts at whatever he finds on Kevin's face. “Did my dashing good looks distract you, Day?”
Kevin chokes on his answer because he just can’t tell him yes. There has to be some kind of bro code or something that explicitly says you cannot flirt with a taken man even if said man is goading the fuck out of you.
Much to Kevin’s dismay, Aaron laughs. It’s such a pretty laugh.
“Don’t rush to answer me,” he continues. He has a casual sort of arrogance to him now and it’s stupidly attractive. Kevin hates himself for it. “I think I’m done with the games for tonight. Feel like making out instead?”

Summary
They stare at each other, for that long, singular moment. Aaron has this weightless feeling in his stomach, like he’s soaring through the empty skies, or possibly free-falling into something catastrophic. He thinks he sees Kevin’s gaze flutter to his lips, before sliding back up to his eyes, but perhaps that’s just wishful thinking. He has the same distant, lofty expression he uses in his interviews.
“We’re good, then?” Kevin asks hopefully.
“Yeah,” Aaron says faintly, then clears his throat and says a little more forcefully. “Yes. We’re good.”
Kevin searches his eyes again, as if looking for some indication that Aaron is lying. In truth, Aaron doesn’t even know himself. The only thing he feels is shame.

Summary
The hand not in his hair slips to the small of Jean’s back to press his pelvis closer. Jean lets it happen; if Kevin can get a semi-erection against Jean, then Jean can repay the favor. Kevin sighs, breath hitting Jean’s collarbone.
“You’re actually getting the hang of this.”
“That is not something to be proud of,” Jean says.
“I beg to differ. It’s hot.”
Jean’s jaw drops. He gapes at the Queen, unsure of anything he can say in response. Kevin smiles, fox-like but genuine, eyes crinkling at the edges.

Melanie double checked to make sure the bathroom door was locked. Her hand was pale and sweaty around the handle of the awl. It could be over quickly.
“I can’t control the past.” She said out loud to nobody, inhaling, exhaling again. “I can’t see the future. I can only control the present.” It calmed her down, at least it made her laugh. “Sorry, LaVerne. You’d hate it if you knew why I was saying that.”

Summary
Andrew, despite being a felon and general disappointment, is working as a delivery driver and managing to stay out of trouble. Nicky would be proud, except Andrew's boss is Ichirou Moriyama and his cargo isn't exactly legal-- but hey, it's a living. Not a great living, but a living nonetheless.
One day, Ichirou offers Andrew a new job: become the driver and caretaker of his newest "asset", the injured son of a Baltimore associate. It's a nine month contract, with all expenses paid. Andrew could use the steady income, and he's had worse jobs before. He can do anything for nine months.
