Peter Parker is in his first year of college after taking several gap years, constantly dodging SHIELD recruitment, and has no idea how to maintain his secret identity while in school. His head has also been screwing with him lately, lots of "you're a failure", and not a lot of "you're doing your best!". So:

In which Peter is handling his collapsing life just fine as a freshman college student, who is also a vigilante, who is also having problems with life as an enhanced person, and it kind of feels like the world is ending all of the time, and then this "Deadpool" asshat crashes into his life. So yeah. Things are fine. Mostly.
Everything is a mess and Peter wants to die.

Summary
For years Parker has lived life under a set of rules that she thought she was happy under. She was ok, despite an awkward situation-ship, discreetly only going by her last name, and her aunt drowning in grief. Things were getting normal. Then there was a small itsy-bitsy spider. And some nuclear radiation. And all of a sudden Parker realized she had powers and the Avengers were desperately in need of help. But would they really trust a teenage girl? Definitely not, so Parker is going to try to join as a young man. She is definitely only going as a man to better hide her identity... no other reason.
OR:
A "She's the Man" AU where Peter decides to have a male superhero persona to hide his identity, but he quickly realizes he might enjoy the 'living as a guy' thing a bit too much.
