It had been constantly told at Solstice and Yule gatherings of the blessing that he had been to the family that had been marred by tragedy after tragedy, miscarriage after miscarriage. Orion Black, with his smile, stretched wide and standing tall, had proclaimed that Sirus Black would guide the House of Black into a new era, a new beginning, a new dynasty. He was the perfect heir.
Regulus Black would not have to worry about that though. After all, he is simply the spare. An insurance that would fade into obscure history. Which was good, for what a terrible heir he would make.

A reimagining of the events that occurred leading up to and during the First Wizarding War.
"The Noble House of Black" follows most of the Black family before 1979. Covering the years before, during, and briefly after Hogwarts. All of the one-shots are inspired by the Melaine Martinez album "Crybaby." (In progress)
"Spare Heir" follows Regulus Black during his Hogwarts years as he assumes heirship and joins the Death Eaters. (In progress)
"Serpent in A Lion's Den" will follow Sirius Black in the aftermath of Regulus' death and the events leading up to his imprisonment. (Coming Soon)
"Ode To Our Family Tree (That's Shaped Like The Fallen Wolf" gives the backstory to Remus Lupin's father Lyall and answers the question of why and how Remus became a werewolf. (In Progress)
