When Clark begins coughing up petals and suffering small wounds, he discovers he’s suffering from an affliction arising from an incomplete Zha’lor—a Kryptonian soul bond.
As his soul mark begins to etch itself into his skin with continued exposure to his soul mate, he learns that once the mark is complete, he has to either consummate the bond or die.
There has never been a documented case of a Kryptonian bonding outside of their own race.
He doesn’t know what could happen to them.
And he doesn’t understand why the bond has chosen Bruce.
