“You don’t have to do that.” Oliver tries to take it from Sendou, but he dodges him, and continues.
“I know, but you really suck at this,” Sendou teases, “and besides, if my mom knew I was letting you do this alone while I just sit here? She’d have a heart attack.”
“Ha, can’t do that to Mama Sendou, I suppose.”
“Exactly.” Sendou’s smile is so big that it crinkles the corners of his eyes.

“Why don’t you do anything special with me?” he blurts, before biting down on his lower lip.
Aiku stops dead, forcing Sendou to turn around and face him.
“What do you mean?” he replies, in the careful tone he usually reserves for breaking up arguments between Niou and whatever player hit his nerve that week. Sendou flushes scarlet.
“You don’t do anything special with me,” he mutters, feeling much younger than his seventeen years. “Like… you and Hayate have your fist bump thing. You quote some shit to Darai. You and Niou bang up against each other until you’re bruised! You give Neru headpats! Why not me?”
“Don’t I give you headpats?” Aiku says, eyes wide, unblinking and framed by sooty lashes. They’re so… pretty. Sendou’s glare intensifies.
“That’s—that’s not the point!” he exclaims. “You don’t do anything with me that you don’t do with anyone else! Why?”
Aiku has personalised gestures for each member of the U20 team—everyone but Sendou.
