Summary
Dick never saw it coming.
He noticed when Bruce began to act more protective, pushing him to return to the manor and live by his rules once again, but he thought it was just the trauma talking. Jason's death was fresh for all of them. Naturally, Bruce would be driven by his instincts to see the remaining members of his Pack safe under one roof. Even the way he found excuses to touch Dick more often was brushed off, right up until he took advantage of Dick's first Heat back in the manor.
Three years of abuse. Three years of being claimed by an Alpha he no longer wanted anything to do with.
And then the Red Hood strolled into Gotham.

“You know,” Dick starts, unable to avoid the conversation any longer. “That this is your last little heat.”
“I do.” Damian confirms. “This one was four days. The next one will not be shorter.” It’s so matter of fact, so utterly unbothered that it bothers Dick. He shouldn’t—can’t—let it bother him, but it’s hard to deny the unpleasant emotions swirling in his stomach with everything so close to the surface and Damian keeping it there with his lips on Dick’s mating gland.
Stamping down the green eyed monster he harbours behind his ribs, Dick continues. “So you’re ready to select an alpha for your first full heat?”
Damian picks his head up finally to scowl at Dick. “I will not be spending my heat with an alpha.”

Dick is supposed to be ready to pass on the torch of taking care of Damian’s heats to his future alpha. Damian disagrees.

Dick and the pup stare at each other in equal amounts of surprise. “Slade,” Dick starts, feigning calmness. “Why is there a child in my lap?”
