Clones. People, made and designed as a replica of a single person. Bred and raised for war. Trained with weapons and artillery. Bodies strengthened with endurance and perseverance.
Hearts of gold. Eyes bright and shining until horrors begin to snuff it out. Minds sharp and quick witted. Hands made for holding weapons, pulling the trigger again and again.
Crosshair grew up knowing all of this. He knew the weight of performing the perfect standard required of ‘defective’ clones. He pushed to be perfect, scowling at mark offs and nodding in satisfaction at full marks.

The phone crackled, but Chan was pretty sure he heard correctly. “What?”
“They’re all sick.” Minho sounded scared. Minho never sounded scared.
Minho needed extra reassurance during sick days, being the one responsible to stay home with the kids, and Chan had to remember that when his boyfriend snapped or became particularly aggressive, it was because he was feeling massively and critically inadequate and insufficient. He knew what to do, every time … and he handled everything much smoother and more comfortably than Chan, but after a while, his brain began to lie to him.

'"Can you talk?" Chan tries, weakly, and Minho can only let out a helpless, voiceless sob. He shakes his head, and then drops it down between his knees, gripping at his hair.
It hurts. His throat hurts so bad, and he doesn't know why, doesn't know how to fix it.
"Oh, Min," Chan breathes, reaching out - but Minho swats his hand away, shaking his head. He's sick he can't get Channie sick, too.'
Or, Minho gets sick, and it gets worse from there.
