Her mother says something, too quiet for Eulalia to hear, and her father laughs, and nudges her shoulder with his own. He’s always touching her. When she was a child, Eulalia thought everyone’s parents were like that, putting their hands on each other and kissing and talking in a language even their children don’t fully understand. It was only when she got older she realized how untrue that was. She’s lucky, she knows that now. Most people are planted in dust and expected to grow.

I hardly know him!’ and then Palamedes said ‘stop interrupting, and we don’t know anyone named Tate.’ Palamedes says I’m getting off topic again. Anyway, Palamedes is writing for me because I can’t. I don’t understand why that’s so important, but Palamedes says not disclosing that information is a serious breach of academic integrity. I don’t know what that means, but apparently you will, and you’ll think it’s important.
