Tainted Love

Summary:

Jacob wasn't a stranger to waking up in weird places. The girls of college often had him stay the night or maybe it was when he crashed at a party after drinking a little too much but none were as weird as waking up in the forest, near naked, and covered in blood

He was unaware of how much his life had changed the second he pulled that fuel line loose.

Previously I made around 4 chapters of stories related to the main ship of this fic and now I'm going to deliver on my promise and make a full length fic out of it. Enjoy! Will be 5 chapters or more

Notes:

Consider this a little remaster of my previous work as both are now (or should be) part of a series im setting up for the story I'm creating. The series will eventually be multi-ship but this fic focuses on Jacob/Chris because, well you already know.

Chapter 1: Infection

Chapter Text

A darkness slowly receded as Jacob opened his eyes. It was cold almost numbingly so as he looked around at the sea of blurred colours. "Where..Where am I?" Jacob asks as his environment came into the focus of his sleep deprived eyes. He was surrounded by the green of nature and listened to the sound of bird in the distant "Very funny guys." Jacob muttered as he tried to stand but to do that it meant he looked down and saw it. He was drenched in blood head to toe.

"What the fuck!" He exclaimed as he rushed to stand and it turned out that he was sat in what appeared to the epicentre of a blood explosion. "Okay don't panic. Don't panic." Jacob said trying to keep calm but he couldn't help the fear that was rapidly creeping over him. "You're fine. You're in the middle of a forest, covered in blood and have no idea how you got here...no problem." He said looking around to try and figure out exactly where he was "Mr H always said: 'In the case you get lost then look for a vantage point to survey the area.'" He recited thinking of how he was supposed to get to a vantage point when the feeling off blood dripping onto his foot alerted him to something.

He was only wearing his boxers and even that was generous. They were shredded and barely clinging to his waist. "I gotta find the others." He said blankly as the shock wore off and the smell of blood hit his nose at the same time all his other senses were bombarded with sensations. His eyes caught the subtlest of movements, he could smell everything from the dirt of the soil to the sweetness of the pollen in the flowers. He could feel the blood dripping and running down his skin as well as the way in which the wind whipped his messy hair back and forth. Yet one thing confused him. There was a steady two sound beat.

*THUMP* *THUMP*

Over and over again. It was...mesmerising, It was like a heartbeat but his own was beating a mile a minute but this sound was slow and confident and oh so alluring. "Snap out of it, Jake!" He said to himself after catching his legs begin to move on their own to follow the beat. Suddenly the wind blew a different direction and a scent followed with it, It could only be described as warm and welcoming. Before he could stop himself he was following it with a dazed look in his eyes and the slightest of smirks. Even the prickling pain from the ground didn't deter him from following the scent.

The crunch of twigs under his feet was the only warning of his arrival. Gradually the smell was getting stronger and stronger until it reached its peak and "Chris?!" Jacob said as he looked before, Chris was also covered in blood but the heartbeat sound was slow and even louder almost calm? "Oh god, Jacob!" Chris said as he jumped in surprise "I didn't hear you approach." He added laughing nervously "Where...no...why are we covered in blood?" Jacob asked noticing the way in which Mr H's posture stiffened momenterialy "Jacob, if I explain then you have to promise to listen to what I say." Chris instructed and Jacob nodded.

"You should sit down, we'll be here a while." Chris instructed as Jacob cautiously shuffled to sit on a fallen log "I'm a werewolf." Chris confessed and caused Jacob to huff "It's true. Happened a while ago after I took my kids to this old travelling show." Chris continued and Jacob picked up on a subtle shift in the older man's smell and it caused him to feel an urge to comfort him which he quickly curbed "While I was distracted by the show, Kaylee and Caleb snuck off to free the main attraction 'Silas the wolf boy.'" Chris scoffed "This lead to them igniting a few hay bales with fire but next thing everyone knew the whole show was in a blaze. I searched for my kids and found Caleb with a bleeding arm so I got us all out of there." That smell reappeared and the urge surfaced again with a vengeance.

"I'm sorry." Jacob muttered "I'm the one that should be sorry. If I hadn't taken them to that show then none of this would've happened." Chris responded and felt the prick of tears in his eyes but but was quick to blink them away and keep going. "Turns out that my boy's injury was a bite, a wolf's bite. Well a few weeks later and he turns into this big beast that bit Kaylee and me." He wiped away the blood on his arm to reveal a partially healed wound. It was also a bite that looked like something akin to a canine's teeth "We managed to scare it into the storm cellar and by morning I saw my son like this: Covered in the thick stench of his blood as shivered in shock. That's how we discovered we were infected with the curse of lycanthropy and now you are too." Chris said as he watch the way Jacob processed the information.

"I'm a werewolf? No way! That's impossible!" Jacob tried to argue but a little part of him knew it was true "We can talk more about this later but we gotta clean up and I'm sure you're hungry for some food." Chris said and as soon as the idea was planted in his head, he was made acutely aware of how his stomach growled in hunger. He felt like he was starving. "Maybe I'm a little hungry." Jacob said feeling himself relaxes at the little smile Chris sent his way. It was only something that happened when he was with Emma before he...

"Oh my god! I broke the car!" He remembered as the way the fuel-sourced fire had burnt his hand while he tried to pour water on it. A look down at his hand, as he followed the leader's path, revealed it was healed, there wasn't a trace of it from the previous blister or tough skin. Maybe all this blood was making him delusional and that's why he blinded trusted Chris. He respected the way that it only took Chris one look around before he was able to point out the direction and they set off in the path that lead to the main lodge of Hacket Quarry's Summer Camp. "None of you listened to me. It was a simple instruction. Stay in the lodge." Chris said and an edge of that earlier anger showed. The same anger that he witnessed when the engine ignited and that caused Jacob to look down.

Both seemed to pick up on the sound of clattering as they stepped in front of the door to the storm cellar. Suddenly it flung open and somebody came running out of it. She wore a grime-soaked yellow cropped hoodie on top of general black sports wear "Kaitlyn, I'm glad you're alright." Chris said seemingly uncaring of his near naked state "I'm not going to ask why you are both looking like you got caught in a meat grinder. We need to find Dylan, I lost him somewhere in the scuffle at the junkyard." Kaitlyn informed loading up a shell into the shotgun "And that's a no, give it here." Chris said as he held his hand out "What do you mean? There are those werewolves running about, I'm not giving it up." She argued.

"Kaitlyn. Hand it over, now." Chris said each word slowly and slightly more menacing "Fine but if me or Dylan die then I'm blaming you." Kaitlyn tried to spin a lighter tone "It's sunrise so the werewolves are gone. Now, gather everyone at the lodge in an hour. We need a talk." Chris instructed and Kaitlyn only gave a glare as she ran on the trail of her friend while Chris and Jacob entered the lodge. The boy having been nervous about Chris' tone as well as embarrassment from being in the loose remnants of what might have been clothes. "While she does that you can get washed up in the lodge's bathroom." A sigh "I have to find my family." Chris said as he turned to walk away and why did that make something in Jacob's heart ache as he stood paralyzed as the heartbeat faded into the distance.

"Okay, Jacob, go in there and get washed of all this gunk and then find a new outfit." He told himself as he he trudged towards the bathroom that luckily had a shower. The water was cold as ice as it washed over his skin but Jacob felt a sense of relief as he was able to see his skin without any blood on it. Yet throughout the shower he couldn't help feel a sense of unease at the water as if some tiny voice was telling him to avoid it but he ignored it as more and more of his skin was cleaned. "God I'm starving." He uttered as he stepped out and grabbed at the wall in search for the towel he spotted and after a few attempts he managed to grab it.

"Step 2: Clothes." He said to himself when the familiar smell of Mr H hit his nose but it was muted and more dull. Out of curiosity he followed the trail to a locked door where he was faced with a slight disappointment. He thought to himself "How am I gonna get in here? I know i'll just-" The door flung open with surprising ease as he kicked it "That was easy." He remarked as he stepped into was appeared to be an office. At the sight of a landline line phone Jacob knew it was true "Only a dinosaur like him would still have one of these." He joked picking the phone up.

"Jacob." A woman's voice said and the jock dropped the phone with an 'eep' before fumbling to put it back in to place. "Let's see what else is around here." He recomposed himself with a cough and change of stance as he checked out a wardrobe that was mainly filled with the camp leader's shirt and shorts combos but something stood out. There were a few jeans as well as the occasional T-shirt and the one Jacob pulled out was a band T-shirt that had been long forgotten to modern media. With additional searching he found both more pants and socks which he pulled on before slipping into the worn out grey jeans and navy band Tee.

"There we go looking good." Jacob said but noticed something was amiss in the wall, moving along the rack of coats and jackets revealed a door that was slightly ajar that he pushed open. There was a blue glow and a static hum that created an eerie atmosphere "This is new." Jacob whispered eventually reaching the monitors that displayed the woods that surrounded the land however they were not placed on trails they seemed like random spots with no set pattern. A glance around revealed a stack of VHS that all read "FULL MOON" followed by a date "It's looking more and more like he was telling the truth." Jacob remarked as he took a step back. Maybe the others knew of this.

He checked the time on the monitor and saw it was only 6:23 AM "You're kidding." He said to himself as he left the room and returned to the interior of the lodge only to be met with the sight of a torn and shredded painting as well as the damaged fireplace. He perked up at the sound of talking. The voices were mixed but all familiar, they were his friends! He ran outside and nearly barged into Nick who was in a similar situation to what Caleb was; shellshocked.

"I'm so happy you're all alive!" He said gleefully as the others responded in various state of displeasure. Nick just nodded, Ryan looked worriedly at Dylan who appeared to be asleep stood up while Abigail and Emma were holding hands. They were holding hands and it didn't bother him and in fact he felt relieved after the heated talk the two had exchanged before...before it all went dark but then there was Mr H. This time he was dressed in his usual camp attire as everyone walked past him. So he followed them.

They sat at the dining tables and ate the hastily prepared food as Chris spoke "Before I start I just want to say that this is my fault. I should've been more transparent about the real danger out there. But you survived and that's what matters." He said and Emma quickly spoke up "Survived? Barley! Dylan had to saw his own hand off and the Dylan got stabbed and nearly bled to death while Nick was mauled. All because of you!" She said aggressively and Jacob was getting angry at her. How dare she shout at his mate after they disregarded his warning!

Wait a second, mate?

"I know you will all be upset and in distress but what matters now is that we recover from this and I will ensure that you all are compensated for last night." Chris explained when Dylan took his chance to get agitated "Compensate? How are you going to compensate for my lack of a hand after I got bit by you're little white wolf?" Dylan asked raising the bloodied bandage in show of his anger "What?" Chris asked dumbfounded "What part of that didn't you understand." Ryan taunted and broke his silence "Where did you see the white wolf?!" Chris asked stepping toward a now nervous Dylan "By the radio hut." He answered looking back cautiously "It all makes sense now! Silas has been back this whole time, he ran Laura and Max off the road and attacked you at the huts. He's here!" Chris exclaimed with an odd sense of joy that jacob missed in his confusion.

What did he mean, mate, it seemed to naturally make sense but the more dwelled on it the more it confused him.

"Besides you all need to return to your homes. Your parents will be worried sick and Dylan when you tell your parents what you did I trust you'll do the right thing." Chris hoped while Dylan just look exasperated "In the meantime, every month the full moon occurs Jacob and Nick will need to return here or set up plans of your own so you don't put others in danger or spread the curse." Chris explained and Nick finally spoke "What?! You can't be serious. I can't just pack up my life every month for a day." He said while Jacob was just given more internal conflict because being able spend more time with Chris sounded good but it was major disruption to his own life "I know it will be difficult but it is for your own safety as well. I doubt you want to be hunted for the rest of your life." Chris said with a deep sigh and Nick looked annoyed.

"For what it's worth, I think it's a good idea." Jacob hoped to reassure everyone but was met with a glare from Kaitlyn "You know we wouldn't be in this situation if you hadn't broken the car." She spat and now everyone's anger was directed at him "Hold on a second-" He tried to defend himself "It's no surprise it's his fault. He thought he could win me over with one night after I explicitly told you it was over." Emma shouted "Are you fuckng serious? You broke the van just so you could shack up for another night."Nick said with disbelief as Ryan approached him "You son of a bitch!" He said seconds before his fist collided with Jacob's face. Chris saw red.

Yell At Counsellors / Keep Quiet

"ENOUGH!" He shouted causing everyone to freeze as Chris blinked the red out of his eyes "There is no point in fighting each other. It won't change anything." He argued "It does make me feel better." Ryan said as he sat back down. Jacob spat a string of blood to the floor. "My family has some vehicles that can get you to places you need to be and I'll take you to the hospital, Dylan." Chris said as the conversation died down everyone went about to where Chris instructed and Jacob ended up travelling to the nearby bus stop in the car of a cop who acted awfully twitchy soon to be at his home in a few hours time, a little worse for wear.

Yet he couldn't help but look forward to the next full moon.

Chapter Text

5 months later

Life had gone downhill fast well at least what was left of his normal life had. College was even more of a challenge than it always seemed hyped up to be. On the first few days it was downright miserable. It started simply enough. "You got this Jacob. Just go there and be yourself." He instructed himself only for the moment he stepped into the right building to be filled with the ear piercing bell. It took all his willpower not to scream at it seemed to vibrate through his entire body and by the time it stopped he felt pained. "They're not looking at you." He saw way a man in a blue hoodie moved his hands to laugh at him "They're not talking about you." He could hear the purple haired girl's whispers in full detail.

He had survived that first day and adapted as a good predator should be able to. "Chris would be proud." Jacob thought to himself or more accurately hoped. The only saw each other every few weeks for a day or two after that initial morning. Yet he couldn't help but yearn to spend more time with the man, almost like some supernatural- "J man, c'mon! we got a game to win." A boy said as he bumped into Jacob knocking him out of his daze. "Oh um yeah totally." Jacob said as he looked around "Head in the game. No time for whatever girl of the month it is." The boy mocked quickly responding to what the other team was doing.

The boy's name was Jason and he was one the few friends Jacob had in the college and maybe it was their mutual competitive nature or just by situation but all in all he was a good friend. Loyal to the end if his "Semper Fi." Tattoo was to be believed. "Oh shit." Jacob saw that the ball was being passed to him as it flew through the sky. Upon catching it he heard the heavy breathing of an opposition rapidly running at him. Game time.

With a mighty yell he clutched the ball close to his chest and ran straight forward as he allowed a primal part of himself to take control. Bodies hit the grass as he barged effortlessly though anyone foolish enough to get in his way. Soon enough someone tried to tackle him preemptively only to be met with minimal movement and failing to even unbalance him "Stupid." Came Jacob's distorted voice while the red glint went unnoticed. One throw and the attacker was sent rolling to the side onto the slightly rocky area of the pitch. Is the scuffle that opponent's shirt rode up revealing pale skin and a glistening cut with enticing blood that released a sweet scent.

Ball forgotten, Jacob struggled with himself as two parts of him contemplated what to do. On one hand Jacob wanted to run away and hide in locker room for even thinking of hurting those around him with his careless use of strength while the other salivated at the idea of biting at the downed player's throat and eating up the delicious muscular meat.

"Get a grip!" Jacob shouted at himself. Why did this have to happen on game night?! "Wait a minute. Night?" He thought. "I can't have lost track. That's impossible." He mumbled incoherently before looking at the sky as seeing what should've been a beautiful sunset but it only filled him with dread. Throwing his helmet off, he quickly ran off the pitch, unnaturally so, and bolted for the changing rooms "Not now. Fuck! Not now." He said pulling on the long-sleeved shirt and jeans. "My phone. Where is it? Where the fuck is it?!" and upon finding it he quickly learnt of multiple missed calls from one "Mr H" and Jacob was out right on the verge of a panic attack.

The idea of missing a full moon seem impossible but he had been eager for this match. Eager to show off how good he could be. "Shut up." he told the voice in his head that kept repeating the same thing over and over again. "Stupid boy." As if he heard it enough times that he'd be forced to believe it. "Not much time." HE was breathless as he went to leave the room only to be greeted by the sight of two people: Jason and a boy in a blue letterman jacket. His name was mike, no that's not right. Mark? He was close. Matt! Bingo.

"What was that all about? You ran off like a girl at a party gone wrong." Jason joked only for both to notice the darkened veins across Jacob's face. "Get out of my way." Jacob breathlessly orders, his eyes unfocused "You don't look to great. I think you should visit the nurse." Matt suggested and Jacob patience snapped both with himself and the obstacles in his way "Get the fuck out of my way!" He shouted shoving both aside knocking them harder than he probably meant to. He was unsure and needed to get away from everyone and into a place where he couldn't hurt others. The school's basement should work.

He had something between minutes or seconds before a violent monster was unleashed on a school full of kids who had come to watch a stupid game of football. The air was getting colder by the moment and become freezing the instant he saw the basement doors locked with a a metal padlocks that he quickly kicked open in rage. He knew that with only one way in and out so all he had to was block it.

"He doesn't love you." Jacob said to himself using the last of his sense to remove his clothes and get away from them as he felt that familiar pain rack though his body as his skin felt like it was going to tear "Emma never loved you. Chris won't ever love you. Nobody loves you! Nobody-" He was cut off as blood filled the dark and damp storage basement.

He'd turned

-

"I just think it's weird he ran off like that. Usually he's all competitive, ya know?" Jason asked as he engaged in the post-match stretches "I don't know." Came his partner's response as he read something on his phone "Like I get he's a sensitive kinda guy but to run off in the middle of the big game is a douche move." Jason added "Um huh." Salim said still not looking up from his phone "I should chase after him." Jason said feeling uncharacteristically caring "I don't think so "Wah? Why not?" Jason asked stretching his leg for the last time "Your friend, Jacob, seems to be in an emotional state and if what Matt said is true then he might be sick. so I believe it's best to leave him well enough alone."

But deep down Salim know why Jason wanted to occupy as much of the night as possible and it saddened him. "I guess you're right." Jason sighed "Hey, I'm sure Nick would appreciate some company tonight after what he went through the other day." Salim tried to subtly suggest "Yeah maybe. I did see that the new burger joint opened in town and I need to reclaim my honour." Jason said with his tone shifting from saddened to joy in an instant "Don't remind me of the great burger eating contest." Salim said in a dramatic fashion "I didn't think he'd be able to eat that fast!" Jason exclaimed.

"I know. The look on your face was hilarious." Salim fondly recalled when suddenly Jason remembered something "You wanna talk funny? I have never seen Rachel snort like that." He added nearly toppling over in laughter as he clutched his stomach. Salim smiled as he took in the sight. With no one to judge him, Jason was free to truly be himself and it was a beautiful thing. Jason had a short mess of brown hair that he frequently covered with a worn out blue cap that matched the colour of his eyes that Salim frequently caught himself staring into.

The man was also more than the persona he set up for others. While he acted tough and was often a level-headed leader to his team he was also vulnerable. Only a few times would he let the walls he built up come down. It had taken time, patience, positive reinforcement and most importantly love. Jason had confessed all his problems and self doubt to Salim when the too were alone on the slightly older male's bed in the dark. But now all Salim saw pure joy across his partner's face in a smile that he summed up as downright adorable only for his moment of watching to be interrupted by the sound clanging metal and a snarl or grunt.

"Always trust the old buildings to be haunted." Jason joked as they both turned to face the old building in basement. "I doubt any ghosts are living in a school storage facility. Probably." Salim said just to see the way Jason glanced at him only slight put off by the answer before his lips turned into a smirk "Hey, Salim." Jason said mischievously "Yes, Jason?" He played along "Wanna find a ghost?" He asked and with a childish smile and tone he couldn't help but agree "Only for a few minutes. You still need to call 'Nicky'." Salim said using Jason's own dialect against him "Hell yeah." Jason cheered as he bumped Salim's shoulder with his fist.

The two stepped around the corner to find the entrance to the dilapidated block of old classroom "I always wanted to meet a ghost. Like imagine being able to turn invisible and go through walls." Jason remarked as he tried his luck on the front door only for it to barely budge as the sound of chains rattling emitted from the other side "It seems careless for someone to leave a broken lock lying around." Salim observed as he inspected the slightly ajar metal doors that leads to a basement "I'll be right over!" Jason shouted quickly appearing at Salim's side. "After you." Jason said as he pulled one of the doors open with a grunt of effort.

"Such a gentleman." Salim remarked using his phone as a flashlight to illuminate the dark area "Only for-" A loud snarl interrupted Jason "This ghost sounds angry." He said instead quickly rushing ahead with no sense of self-preservation "Jason!" Salim shouted in a hushed tone. For as much of a leader that he was, he still had his dumb moments just like everyone. He may have a few more than most people. Jason turned as was about to reply when he stepped in something wet "Ah man, not my...new...shoes." Was that blood? He thought "Don't move." Salim said sounding nervous. Why was Salim, one of the bravest people Jason knew, nervous. "Why?" Jason asked unflinching in his posture when he heard something huff and growl.

Ghost weren't supposed to be real. Suddenly something dashed and Jason was thrown to the ground "Oh Fuck!" He shouted quickly recovering and pushing whatever it was that was attacking him. "Jason!" Salim shouted as he looked around in panic for something to attack with before his eyes landed on a piece of rusted metal pipe. "Get the fuck off me!" Jason shouted as he tried to avoid the thrashing claws of this beast "Help me!" He proceeded to yell as his only source of light fell to the floor with a small cluttered noise.

"allah yarhamuni" There was a yell that wasn't his own as someone ran at the monster and seemed to attack it. Turned out Salim had tried to rescue Jason before the beast turned it attention to him and effortlessly picked him up and threw him across to the blood soaked floor effectively getting his clothes covered in it, as well as his face. "NO!" Jason said quickly standing and running after the creature as it bound after his friend.

He had no plan except for winging it. So he ran and jumped at the creatures back and trapping one arm around its neck before launching a series of punches at its head that seemed to have little effect. Salim fumbled to grab to impromptu weapon before his grip eventual landed on it and he charged with a new found sense of aggression until eventually it pierced the monster's skin and they both hoped the organs were damaged as well.

It unleashed a howl that had Salim covering his ears. It proceeded to lug the iron bar out of itself before launching Jason off his back and into the wall. The lunge had resulted in Jason knocking into a fire alarm that instigated the old ceiling sprinklers that rained down on them. Causing the creature to react in a pained manner before running to the other end of the room and hiding while Salim was quick to respond. He pulled Jason to his feet and placed an arm under his partner's shoulder and dragged the both of them out of the cellar. Before turning with a look over his shoulder and he had a choice on his hands.

Shut the basement     /     Run away

He momentarily put Jason down to back peddle and slam the heavy doors down with a loud thud each before kicking it for good measure. "Stay alive, Jason. Please." Salim begged as he carried the unconscious man to safety. He had no idea what that thing was but he did know that Jason was injured and in need of potentially urgent help.

The Next Morning

Jacob awoke with a head-splitting ache but what hurt the most was his stomach. He couldn't possibly be that hungry seconds after waking up. "Ok. This has got to be the worst way to wake up." Jacob said whilst he tried to realise where he was. It looked like his was were he left himself so he hoped that nothing bad had happened. But right as he got up felt waves of self disappointment and disheartment wash over him as he recalled the danger he left all his friends in with his careless stupidity. "I can't stay here." He said to himself while he stood with a pained hiss.

He couldn't bare the idea of leaving those he cared for in danger again so he cleaned himself off, threw on his day old clothes and headed for the pickup truck he was barely able to afford. First stop his house to stock up and then it was Quarry bound for the Jock.

Chapter Text

Teary-eyed and anxious, Jacob clutched the steering wheel with enough strength to hear the leather creak. The only noises he heard were his own panicked breaths and the sound of his heart beating rapidly. In an attempt to soothe his nerves he turned the dial and caused the cars radio to begin "-That was "Purple Haze" By Jimi Hendrix and up next on this nonstop night of rock is "Hotel California" By the Eagles. Song for all you weary drivers out there, enjoy." The host said as a song began to play. The start was soft but Jacob pad little notice due thoughts in his head running a mile a minute.

There was a sudden ringing from his phone on its place on the centre console. The phone dials and dials but Jacob can't bring himself to answer it as the rain crashes against his windshield. Eventually it goes through to voicemail and his own voice could be heard "Sorry I can't pick up the phone right now. I'm probably doing something awesome but if you wanna leave a message after the beep then go for it." He sounded so much happier than he felt. Then another voice spoke. "Hey Jacob It's Conrad and I was just wondering if you wondering if you're still on for the party later." Jacob took a shaken breath "We're worried about you man, you've even got Fliss worried." He said with an amused huff.

Pick up the phone / Don't pick up the phone

God, He was such a asshole. Here he was running away from his friends in pursuit of some daydream and now they were all worried about him and he couldn't even muster the courage to pick up a goddamn call. He was so pathetic. "Is that him? Give it here." Someone said before they seemingly snatched the phone from Conrad "we all hope to see you there and remember that we all care about you, Jacob. We're here if you need anything." It was Fliss who sounded slightly annoyed by either him or Conrad and honestly he couldn't blame her.

He reached for the phone with a slow almost cautious hand as if he were approaching a wild beast. That was until he heard a painful beep signifying he was alone again. As we always would be. How foolish to think he could have friends. He gaze refocused on the road and eventually saw a sign "Hackett's Quarry" With a distance of 10 miles away. "Almost there." He said to himself in a low voice. The Hacketts were a confusing bunch. Jacob had seen most of them for better or worse.

His first encounter with the family was Chris being the leader of the camp he had volunteered to counsellor at, then there was Bobby who snared a practically naked Jacob before smearing him in blood, then Jed had hit him with the but of a rifle after he got his leg caught in a bear trap, his foot bounced irritably, Then there was Constance. She was by far the creepiest. She taunted a trapped werewolf Nick and seemed to take pleasure in the act. The whole ordeal he gradually was able to recall but parts of it he reckoned were better left forgotten.

-

The distance felt like 100 miles by the time Jacob eventually came to a stop. With his forehead against the wheel, he tried to compose himself "C'mon you stupid baby. Get up and walk over there." Jacob told himself before he mustered the courage to push the door open as a brush of wind howled. A second later and he was stood for the first time in hours and the nauseating feeling reared its ugly head "Just a little further." He tried to reassure himself whilst practicing what he would he would see once he saw Chris again. He hadn't realised that he had reached the front door until he momentarily snapped out the self-doubt.

With a shaky hand Jacob raised a finger the fancy door clapper and used it to announce his arrival. He had to swallow his nerves as he heard footsteps against wood while being accompanied by "What in the hell is somebody doing all the way out here?" A person asked before the door opened with a forceful pull "What do- Oh it's you." It was the cop: Travis. "Hi." Came Jacob's meek response. "Chris! It's for you!" Travis walked back into the room he had assumedly come from but at the sound of Chris being called upon, Jacob ,or more accurately the inner wolf, let out a sigh of relief as a small bit of joy was added to the complex pile of emotions going through the boy.

"I swear if this is another one of your deliveries." Chris shouted in return before eventually arriving at the hall and stopping in his tracks. "You're alright!" He says as he steps out the front door and places his hands on Jacob's shoulders "..." Everything he was going to say disappears as he feels the tears prick at his eyes "You had me worried, Champ." Chris itterated. 'Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry." Jacob thought to himself but one sniffle later and the flood gates were opened "I'm sorry." He's not sure for what in particular he was apologizing for while tears ran down his cheeks.

Next thing he knew, strong arms were wrapped around him as a heat spread through the contact and the soft scent filled his senses. "It's okay, Jacob. Everything's going to be alright." Chris soothes while Jacob is helpless to stop the sobs that escape as he clutches on to the older man as though he would fade away and this would turn out to be some elaborate dream to torment him. "Let's get inside, warm ya up a bit." Chris suggests and Jacob just nods willing to agree to anything the man said when he spoke in the soft tone he was in that moment.

He clutched tightly to the hand that Chris offered as he lead the boy to a living room where he heard the sound of a fire crackling. "Oh hey kid." Someone says in a happy tone seemingly uncaring of it being someone he only sees for a minute or two every month. It was Bobby and instead of the overalls he was wearing a oversized flannel shirt and khaki trousers. "Well then just invite him. Want me to put on the kettle while we're at it?" Someone asks sarcastically and he can instantly tell it's Constance who is displeased at the mere sight of him and this caused Jacob to squeeze Chris' hand a little tighter.

"That'd be great." Chris says refusing to back down as Constance walked off towards the kitchen with an disgruntled "Just bring in stray then." and that's all he was, a stray that nobody wanted. "Just take a seat there for me, Champ. I'll be right back." Chris instructed and Jacob did as was told by quickly sitting on the old couch. He was then left alone in the room with Bobby who didn't seem to mind as he watched the old movie on the television. There was the faint sound of a distant conversation that he could hear between the brothers and parents but chose to ignore it and watch the film.

It was something weird but Bobby found it funny as he frequently laughed at the scenes. Jacob allowed himself a moment to breath and try to relax. "You wanna know something cool?" Bobby asked causing Jacob to snap out of the focused state he was in "Sure." Came the short response "Chris talks about you all the time." Bobby says taking a sip from the beer Jacob failed to spot "Really?" He asked in disbelief "Oh yeah it always 'Jacob this' and 'Jacob that' it gets a little annoying at times." He says in a casual manner "I didn't expect that." Jacob said even though a slight part of him didn't believe it. It was probably a ruse to get his guard down, he likely had a silver knife hidden away like before.

Yet before he could jump to any brash action Chris returned with Constance and Jed behind him both looking unapproving of the boy's presence but something about Chris' confident posture makes him believe that he's allowed to stay...for the time being. "Jacob, why don't you stay for the night. If you've driven from your campus to here then that is an all day drive and I think you deserve some time to really relax after what might've happened last night." Chris suggests with a reassure hand on Jacob's leg as it moved slightly back and forth.

"Sure. Thanks." Jacob says and he can feel himself smiling as the two settled in for the night and honestly Jacob was feeling the effects of driving all day on a diet of energy drinks and snacks. His eyes felt heavy. "Sleepy." He says feeling himself shift tiredly towards the inviting warmth that settled next to him until he presses his cheek against what he guessed was Chris' shoulder "A little nap won't hurt anybody, kid. I'll be here when you wake up." Chris says whilst pulling Jacob closer with an arm over the shoulder as he tried to soothe any residual tension that was in the boy's posture. Jacob murmured something before he felt himself truly relax as he breathed the scent in and out.

He hoped that he wouldn't be alone in his bed come morning but before he could finish the train of thought sleep took hold and everything faded to a warm darkness where felt something stirring in his soul.

Chapter Text

Chris was smiling dumbly, he couldn't help it as he watched the sleeping figure of Jacob. The boy had arrived at his door whilst drenched in rain and crying but now sleeping soundly with a small silly smile one his face from what Chris guessed was a good dream. He felt a joy he hadn't felt in long time. Not since...a laugh snapped Chris out of his trailing thoughts as he looked down to see Jacob kicking his legs slowly as if he was running from something or maybe he was the one chasing another. Upon spotting a stray tuft of hair that stuck out in front of the boy's eye. A quick brush of it somehow managed to wake the jock as he blinked slowly.

"Mornin'." Jacob slurred as he subconsciously snuggled slightly closer "Good morning, sleepyhead." Chris replies waiting for Jacob's reaction "Where?" He yawns "Where are we?" Jacob asks quietly "We are currently in my bedroom." Chris answers matter-of-factly. The boy's eyes go big as he sits up "wait! What?" He panics "I mean it was either that or the couch and believe me I know from experience that the couch is good for nobodies back." Chris emphasized with a change of posture "Ok. This is fine." Jacob utters to himself with a glance at the room's decorations "What you want to do is up to you know. You can stay a while or you can go back to your home. Choice is yours." Chris says whilst he stands up to head for the bathroom.

After the words were processed, Jacob felt a stab at his heart at the mere thought of leaving. He came as this way to find his mate, he wasn't going to just up and leave. "Gimme a few minutes to think about it." He requested as received a loud "Sure thing, champ." From Chris as the sound of a shower could be heard. 'Time to look around' Jacob thought as he rose from the bed that oddly had animal pelts for some reason. The room itself was cozy with a warn electric-candle glow. and the walls were made of a sturdy looking wood that when paired with the stone small (More like miniature) corner fireplace created an atmosphere that made Jacob just want to sleep in as he watched rain pour past the large window view.

"Got hand it to you. You sure sure do know how to decorate a place." He said whilst picking up a photo of the older man and his two kids. Kids was an understatement when in reality they were only a few years younger than him. "That's odd." He said upon noticing that the picture seemed to be folded. He was curious why. He could snoop to find out or respect Chris' privacy and leave it. With a look over at the slight ajar bathroom door he made up his mind.

Put the picture down     /     See hidden side

He flipped the frame over and began to swivel the small screws out until they landed on the chest of drawers. The back eventually fell out of place and he was able to remove the folded picture. He pulled the hidden piece forward and it revealed a woman dressed in hiking gear just like the Hacketts were "Who are you?" Jacob whispers to himself as he inspects the woman's features. She smiles brightly and has a similar shade of hair as Caleb and eye colour the same as Kaylee but what really ticked Jacob off were the matching rings on the adult's fingers.

Chris' ex-wife.

The shower stopped and Jacob had potentially a few seconds to make it look like he hadn't been doing something he shouldn't have. He folded the picture and placed it in the frame and scrambled to find the screws. The first three went in easily but the last one dropped onto the floor. "Shoot." He quickly ducking down to grab it the moment the bathroom door swung open. "Do I want to know what you're doing?" Chris asked upon seeing Jacob squatted on the floor with one hand behind his back. "I'm stretching." Jacob answers and even he sounds unsure of himself.

"Sure." Chris says with a tone that lets Jacob know he is busted "When you're done with that you can put it back over there." While he points at where Jacob had found it "Right." The boys says as he shamefully puts it back in place. 'That was stupid' Jacob thinks to himself but that train of thought immediately derails when Chris drops the white towel to reveal a relatively toned body with a healthy layer of fat. Jacob's eyes were not the only ones enjoying to unplanned show as the hardening of something alerted him to the fact he wasn't wearing his jeans. How had he failed to notice that?

"Sorry. By the way. I shouldn't have been looking around your stuff." Jacob says while shuffles around to find where they might be and soon stumbled upon them "You shouldn't have but It's alright. You could have asked who it was." Chris replies before donning a jumper and shorts. while Jacob picked up the mess of his jeans and dropped them with a resounding wet noise "That's not gonna work unless you have a radiator." Jacob says with a hint of humor in his voice "First stealing my clothes from the lodge and now you don't have any. Whatever will you do?" Chris taunts already bunching up a pair a trousers "Well i think I'll-" Jacob was cut off as the denim hit his face.

"Thanks." He says as he holds them up before testing to see of they fit and surprise surprise they did. "What do ya know." He says with a satisfied expression "Now hurry up I doubt you want to miss breakfast and I am not waiting up for you." Chris said with a smirk as he made his wait out the room quickly trailed by Jacob who nearly trips up on his feet in a quick attempt to keep up with the older man "Slow down ya dick!" Jacob shouts with no malice.

-

Breakfast meal was eggs and bacon that Caleb prepared for everyone as a way of "Starting the weekend with a bang." before nearly burning himself as the oil sizzled a little too aggressively "Hey Bobby." Chris says as the large man slumps his way through the room "Hi." Jacob says in a quick way as something within him refuses to trust the giant "When is it going to be ready?" Bobby asks as he said down with a loud thud on the chair "Somebody woke up the wrong side of the bed this morning." Chris jokes as he smirks behind the morning coffee and before Bobby could bite back Caleb served up 4 dishes "And breakfast is served."

The meal look like one of the most delicious things that Jacob had seen but that as probably because he hadn't eaten much in over 15 hours "Oh by the way, Chris, Grandma and Grandad said that they would probably be out all day in town." Caleb said as he joined the others sat at the table. Jacob was growing impatient but he waited for Chris' permission to eat even if it was only to prove to himself that he could be good and listen so he waited. "That's fine. I finally get to enjoy a day without ma's voice in my ear." Chris joked before tucking into the dish but not before sparing a quick glance at Jacob who appeared to be on the verge of whining.

"You do know you can start eating by the way." Chris says before watching Jacob begin to wolf down the food like a madman "This is *MPMH* so good!" Jacob says nearly moaning at the taste. "Thank you." Caleb says feeling a little more confident about his day. "Apart from whatever he's doing." Chris says noting the way in which Jacob is practically licking the remains of the food off the plate "You two have a job to go out and fix up the shed." He finishes and smirk at the way Caleb and Bobby reacted in the same way "Whaa that's no fair!I made you an entire breakfast" Caleb exclaims with a raise of hands "Life's not fair, buddy." He said.

But Caleb was already moving to get the job over with along with Bobby who acted more immature than the child. "So what do we do today?" Jacob asked as he moved the dishes to a pile by the kitchen sink in the adjoining room "You could spend the day with me if you wanted." Chris suggested before appearing behind Jacob who had been imagining a one on one day with Chris would entail only to help as he felt a hand land on his hip and a pair of lips on the back of his neck. "Here I thought you were going to be a 'take it slow' kinda guy." Jacob jokes.

The two had barley if ever flirted but they both felt that connection and bond in their souls from their shared inner lycans. "We can take it slow if you want or we can take it fast." Chris replied as he moves his hand from Jacob's hip forward and causing the younger man to drop the plate he was washing after all if you're staying somewhere then you can always make yourself useful. Anything to avoid thinking about that firm grip that was inching closer and closer to his- Chris suddenly bit at his ear. It was more of a nip that a bite but it managed to wrangle a strangled sound out of Jacob.

"What about your kid?" Jacob manages to ask "That shed is practically beyond repair so it'll take 'em all day, my parents are out for the day and Travis is at work. We have this beg empty house all to ourselves." Chris explains and smirks at the flush of colour that dawns on Jacob's cheek as he tries to hide his nervousness. behind the impromptu chore doing "But I will let you decide when and what you want to do but word of warning: There is a new season of my favourite show and I'm more than willing to binge it all day." Chris says with a wink as he steps back and towards the lounge room.

Jacob is confused on how one second Chris was whispering in his ear while he grabbed at the younger man's dick through the borrowed jeans to talking about his plans to binge a nature series. "Huh?" He dramatically says into the abyss. Before deciding on a plan, First he would spend the day with Chris and during the night then maybe they would be able to acquire an appropriate amount of intimacy and not potentially be walked in on by any unwanted visitors.

He jauntered after Chris who he found lounging on the couch in an uncharacteristic and exaggerated display of relaxation "I see you got room for one more." He jokes which causes Chris to lift up his legs to allow Jacob to sit next to him before the Jock had the camp leader's legs start to bounce on his knees in a childish display of entertainment "Something is up with you today, I swear." He observed "What? It's not everyday i get to enjoy the company of such a strong and handsome person who also enjoys my company." Chris explained.

The response caused Jacob to become a little bashful afterall the only time someone genuinely praised him was when his parents talked to him as a child. Emma was always vapid and only ever praised him so that he'd do something for her. Jacob focused himself and spoke "You're no slouch yourself." He responded with a smile before focusing what was on the TV . Where Jacob expected a nature documentary about some "Interesting" Animal or habitat it turned out to be about timber wolves and how they lived in the mountainous regions of Canada. At the sight of them Jacob tilted his head as he processed just how awesome they appeared to be while hunting their prey but it awoke a desire in him.

A desire to hunt his own prey but with his generally clumsy demeanor that wasn't going to happen any time soon. Instead he settled for paying rapt attention to the wolf as it tore the flesh from it's prey and feasted gluttonously. Chris was also watching the show but managed to spend more time looking at the distracted jock. "I did not expect you to enjoy this so much." Chris remarked as he moved to take hold of Jacob's hand and intertwine their fingers which caught his attention "Huh? oh umm yeah it's interesting but I'm wondering if we do that when we transform." Jacob said as he responded to the gesture with a squeeze of their hands. "Maybe but from the from the little footage we have it's hard to tell." Chris informed and Jacob looked oddly thoughtful when considering it

-

They lost track of time as the hours flew by until it was evening and the boys had moved from sitting to snuggling as Jacob curled up on top of Chris like a content cat with a soft purring noise to match. "I think it's time for bed." Chris says as Jacob just murmurs a response and that's all the confirmation he needs before he shifts and lifts Jacob up into a bridal carry that startled the boy into waking up. With a quick kiss to the cheek, Chris carried him up the stairs and back to his bedroom...No the little voice in the back of his mind disagreed, Their bedroom. They were mates after all and so long as the moon allowed it, Chris was never going to give that up.

Upon arriving at the door to the room, Chris places Jacob back on his feet and opens the door to reveal a place that is going to plague the boy's thoughts if he left the house. He followed Chris into the room as the man turned to face him with a confident smile. 'Now or never' Jacob thought before surging forward into a desperate locking of their lips. The older man was only stunned for a second before returning the gesture with double the feverence. Jacob wasn't as stupid as people thought he was. He knew there was a mutually shared sense of sexual attraction but he wanted more than what he had with Emma.

He wants to be loved.

But that could be expressed in the morning, now was the time to release his worries and truly be with Chris in the most intimate way possible. Jacob threw off his shirt at the cost of breaking kiss but atoned for it by near instantly repeating it. Chris matched the gesture and removed his T-shirt and jumper which swiftly made Jacob ogle at the older man's body once more before he felt Chris tugging at the zipper of the borrowed trousers. The sound was booming in Jacob's ear. Was this really happening? Jacob pulled the jeans off easily and now stood in his boxers like when they first met after that dreaded full moon.

Except there was no fear or confusion instead all there that Jacob felt was joy and excitement. "C'mon big guy, I can't be the only stripping down here. Shorts off." Jacob intructs and Chris agrees and wordlessly does as told. Now it was more like that first encounter minus the blood but who knows what the night holds. Jacob is snapped out of his thoughts as Chris turns the two around and shoves the younger man onto the bed with a surprised sound.

Once he pulled his head back up he spotted something. Chris' eyes were different. They were a deep shade of red, hardly noticeable in the night were it not for the supernatural glow to them and yet they were undeniably beautiful. He was unaware of the forming yellow-gold in his own "So sexy." He wasn't sure if he said or Chris did but next thing he knew was that he was now completely naked after Chris had removed both their sets of underwear while Jacob was busy being a flustered mess "I have just one thing to say." Jacob speaks but is unable to articulate it as Chris straddles his legs and begins to kiss his neck aggressively "Let's hear it." Chris says before resuming the now turned biting.

"You got protection?" The words barely manage to leave his mouth as more than weak whimpers but he manages to insert a joke "Mama always use protection." before he moans as the teeth go from nipping to biting and eventually breach the skin that repairs itself near instantly. "Of course." Chris answers before leaning back and rummaging through one of the bedside drawers. Until he found "AHA!" He exclaims as he draws one out but then Jacob realised something.

He hadn't bottomed before. Hell he hadn't been with a guy before now and Chris seemed to be particularly dominant. The older man seemed to tense the tension and responded quickly "Hey, we don't have to anything like that if you don't want to. I won't force you and I'm happy with whatever you are." Chris reassured but Jacob could tell that Chris really wanted to so he made up his mind "Never hurts to try something new." He remarked with a cracked smile "Good boy." Chris praised and now Jacob was similitiously a bundle of exposed nerves, agitated beyond belief as well as a puddle of relaxation and joy at the name.

"I'm told this hurts a little at first but it gets better." Chris says with a reassuring pat the jock's leg as Jacob gives a dazed thumbs up whilst he waits for Chris to finish his own preparations when suddenly Jacob felt something wet as the sensation tickled his hole. He hadn't seen Chris get any lube, which he assumed it was, and so when Chris moved a figure to help prepare Jacob he was surprised by the mysterious substance "Getting all excited just from me?" Chris taunted in a light tone that had Jacob hiding his face behind his hands "Shut up." The jock whispered "Don't worry about it, It's part of being a werewolf. Rare thing but not bad. In fact it makes this much easier." Chris said as his eyes glowed even brighter.

"Alright then." Jacob said before receiving a considerate look from Chris "You ready? Because I want every part of you." Chris said as Jacob nodded cautiously. No time like the present. Chris moved his hips slowly and watched intently for Jacob's reaction and if he needed to stop. The younger man groaned at the intrusion and the initially burning sensation that hurt and caused him to clench down against the intrusion. He was caught of guard by the sigh of pleasure that came out of Chris' mouth. "Good boy." There was the name again and Jacob genuinely whined at it as well as the fact the burning had faded and was replaced with the starting of pleasure.

"So tight. Just for me." Chris says with a smile as inhales the scent of their mating and his partner. "You're all mine." Chris began to lose himself and pick up the initially slow and dragged out thrusts. Jacob moved his legs to frame the sides of Chris' torso and used his arm to push himself up until he could once again make out with the older man as both of their moans were muffled against the others lips. "You are all mine, aren't you?" Chris asked slightly insecure but also with a hint of aggression. Possessiveness. "Yeah." Jacob nods as he presses his forehead against Chris' shoulder to try and silence the lewd noises that escaped him.

"You're such a good boy and all for me." Chris iterated and all Jacob could was nod and moan as pleasure sparked through his body "Taking me so well." Chris continues to praise him for pretty much just existing "I'm going to make you all mine. Forever."Chris promises as his thrusts fall out of rhythm "Gonna mark you inside and and out." He manages to get out but before Jacob could understand the deeper meaning, Chris moved his hands onto Jacob's hips and pulling him down into Chris' dick with enough strength to cause bruising as he sniffed at Jacob neck before biting down and drawing blood that exhullerated his taste buds.

Meanwhile Jacob could only focus on the warmth that spread through him as the two panted. Their heartbeats were in sync and Jacob smiled. They were now mates and that bond was eternal.

they'd be together forever.

After minutes of panting, Jacob managed to form some words "Ya know, I think I might just love you." He said with his signature cocky smirk and a breathless chuckle and Chris held onto Jacob tighter "Love you too." He said before yawning and adjusting the two until they were in a comfortable enough sleeping position where Jacob could snuggle close with a joyful and content murmur "You're mine and I'm yours. Forever." Chris said with a satisfied tone in his voice.

"Wait a second. Does this mean I just ran away from my like back home?" Jacob asked as he remembered what he had done to get here.

Chapter 5: Begin Again

Summary:

This chapter focuses on Chris and Jacob's lives a year after the events of the game, Jacob works on the scrapyard that kaitlyn and Dylan went to and Chris is just a happy old man who is repressing his grief but will everything go the way Chris hopes this summer or will it all go wrong again?

-
A chapter that concludes this little fic and sets up the events of "Blood Moon" From the dump a while back, note that there will be major differences from the original blood moon but those are to be seen in the future ;)

Sorry for a long chapter update I just had to take a break to get the creative juices flowing.

Chapter Text

"It's beautiful." Chris says abruptly "I could just stare at it for hours." He adds and it takes a second for Jacob to realise what he was talking about. He had been referring to the moon and it's crescent form "Can't be more beautiful than me." Jacob said feeling only slightly jealous "Nothing is as beautiful as you, Jacob but it has its own way of being what it is and I can only describe it with one word." Chris says. 'Looks like it's going to be a sappy night.' Jacob thinks to himself. "It sure does." Jacob agrees before taking a swig of his beer "You can point out when I'm being dumb." Chris mumbles and Jacob isn't going to let either of their self doubts ruin the moment.

"I don't think you're being dumb. I think you're being very philasuf- philu- Philasofic-" He tries to say but can't remember the word "Philosophical?" Chris suggests "That's the one." Jacob laughs with a smile "Besides that, what we should talking about is summer camp opening in a week." Jacob changed the topic swiftly "After last year I wouldn't expect you to be so eager." Chris confessed "Then you clearly didn't see me last year. The kids loved me." He says in a jovial manner "It's just a shame of the others want to come back but I don't blame them." The older man said hiding his disappointment poorly "These new counsellors will have to just be twice as good." Jacob said trying to cheer his mate up.

"I guess so." Chris agreed when Jacob realised something "You never did tell me who you picked." He recalled and saw a smirk finally return to Chris' lips. "You'll like them." He promised and the mystery immediately began to eat away at the younger man "You can't gonna tease me like that. C'mon tell me, dude." He pleaded "Nope. My lips are sealed." Chris mocked a gesture of zipping his lips shut. "I can think of one way to loosen them." Jacob responded with a sly tone "I hope it involves cooking something cause I am starving." The camp leader responds keeping his tone calm "You know I can't cook for shit." Jacob conceded.

Chris laughed "Then these lips: Sealed." He joked "Fine, but I'll find out one way or another." Jacob vowed with an aggressive chugging of his beer Following the exchange a silence filled the air but it was not unwelcome. It gave Jacob a chance to look at the moonlight features of Chris' relaxed face. The usual concentration and focus had dissipated leaving a man who had a smile that Jacob could stare at for hours and eyes that glistened with a barely visible undertone of red. A red that made the younger man think of orchids and their symbolism of beauty and strength.

And here was jacob thinking that Chris was going to get sappy. When a cold midnight breeze blew past the two, Jacob shivered with an audible "Brr" as he noticed the subtle glance at the Chris gave at the reaction "I'm surprised you're cold. In bed you're always like a furnace." Chris said with fond recollection of the two of them snuggling close to one another in the daybreak hours. "I shouldn't have skipped on grabbing your jumper." Jacob remarked knowing that Chris loved seeing him in borrowed clothes that were covered in his scent and in turn made Jacob covered in the smell that let everyone know who we belonged to, or would if everyone else had a keen a sense of smell as they did.

Jacob contemplated making the move to close the distance between then and to ask if it was alright with Chris and the older man sense the slight internal conflict and with an anusmed huff responded. He startled the younger man by slinging his arm over his shoulder and pulled the two closer together. "So indecisive." Chris said with a humored shake of his head. "Maybe I should like you being rough." Jacob shamelessly flirted "Well I don't think we can do much of that on the roof." Chris countered and how could he forget they were laid down on the roof after they had snuck onto it.

"It never hurts to try something new." He joked "Well it doesn't until you end up falling 2 stories onto rocks and dirt. Then it hurts." Chris said with a smug grin "Alright smartass." Jacob replied with a light smach to his mate's chest before he let that silence return whilst he got comfortable on the side of Chris. The shared warmth only added to Jacob's comfort and desire to not move or do anything. Chris' chest rose and fell in a slow rhythm as he breathed calmly, it was matched by a steady heartbeat that Jacob listened to closely. "This is nice." He mumbles and gets a "Mhmp." From Chris "Don't be falling asleep on me, old man." Jacob remarked "I'm not, just resting my eyes is all." He argued "Whatever, I'm not gonna be the one to drag you to bed so just don't fall asleep." Jacob said making no effort to actually move or keep either of them awake.

-

By morning the two were in their bed. Jacob still couldn't believe it their bed. Once he had finished college and obtained some decent qualifications his next step was to pack up and move out of the dorms he had been staying in. So he found himself asking Chris if they might want to live together and the older man all but jumped at the idea. Though the Quarry didn't offer any amazing job opportunities what it did offer were jobs that were close to his new home. That was he ended up working at the scrapyard. Not the most exciting but being able to lift cars about and crush them made for some pretty good anger relief, especially when you have a werewolf in your head.

Every so often when someone would deliver their junk to the yard, be it old broken down cars to kitchen appliances, he would find something of worth and recycle the item giving it new life which eventually rewarded him with a new vehicle to replace the old pickup truck that was barely functioning on that fateful first drive back into the quarry following a tragic full moon he can't remember. But the car, while second (bordering on third) hand, was treated as though it were his own child which made him think about Caleb. The kid was only a few years younger than him and if Jacob and Chris continued to be a thing then that meant that he would eventually be the boy's stepfather.

That was a train of thought for another time. A time when Jacob wasn't pressing himself against Chris' back like some personal teddy bear. Speaking off, Chris began to stir awake but Jacob still wanted a bit longer so they could just forget about the rest of the world and be in their own little pocket of warmth and comfort for a few more precious minutes. "Go back to sleep." Jacob whispered as he reasserted his grip on Chris' waist. "Can't." Came the simple response "Work to do." Was added "It's sunday." Jacob tried to counter "It's wednesday. You also have work." He added and Jacob whined like a child forced to go school.

"Fine I guess we can get up." Jacob finally gave up and dragged himself out of bed to the recently constructed wardrobe. He had surprised himself how quickly he had adapted from frat life to domestic life. Yet he couldn't complain. Following a quick shutdown of "Wanna shower together, could be fun?" Jacob quickly washed and dressed himself in a green flannel shirt and thick-old trousers. Never could be too careful near rusted metal. Before heading downstairs he made sure to check to see if he had forgot anything. His eyes landed on the picture of Chris' family and he let himself smirk a little when he noticed that the photo had been refolded to hid his ex-wife. Why was he so jealous of anytime Chris showed affection to anyone else?

Breakfast consisted off toast that he grabbed out the toaster and hastily stuck in his mouth with a muffled "Bye, Love you!" as he ran out the door. Only as he had been walking down the stairs had he remembered the early morning drop off someone had requested. They would apparently be dropping off some large cargo so he had to be on sight in time to both open the scrapyard and deal with the customer. Once the door shut Jacob rushed to his car and fangled to find the key in his pockets. He hoped he hadn't picked up the wrong key or worse he might've picked up Chris' habit of losing keys. "I'd lose my head if it wasn't stuck on." He recalled from the end of last summer.

"Ahah!" He exclaims as he draws the key from his back pocket and used it to open the car door before taking a seat at the drivers wheel. "C'mon girl, don't break down today." He said as if the car were a horse and he a cowboy. The engine rattled and had Jacob worried but it soon sparked to full function "Yes! A little bit of love goes a long way, eh girl?" He says as pats the dashboard before starting the quick drive to junkheap that was his work. The morning sun bathed the road in orange and yellow that contrasted from the bitter cold morning wind. Nothing was going to be on the road so he looked at the glove compartment "Eh a little bit a music won't hurt." He said before leaning over and rummaging around for a cassette tape.

It was one Jed's old songs that he "Borrowed" and now he sat tapping his finger against the wheel as he checked his watch as saw he was going to be a few minutes early to the drop-off. He didn't know why the client was so early but maybe they just had a busy day or something. Upon unlocking the front gate and making sure the small office building hadn't been ransacked by bears, he locked to the computer that was frankly ancient and checked to see what he had written up as a plan for the day. First order of business, accept the drop off then do the appreciate course of action, then it was the usual scrap and go for whatever junk what scheduled that afternoon. He took a mental note before wondering what chris was up to.

"Travis! Come help me with this." Chris shouted "In a minute." The cop shouted back, occupied with his own task. "Damnit, I need to know if these cages work or not. TRAVIS!" Chris shouted again and his voice bellowed off the stone walls of the old rotten celler "For God's sake what is it?" the older brother question with an exasperated sigh "I need you to flip that switch over to test the new locks and electrified wire but only one at a time." Chris instructed "And you can't do that." Travis said as he walked over to the fusebox "I took a day off for this." He added in a whisper "I can't do it because I need to be in the cage. A little bit of practical testing." Chris tried to say in lighthearted tone.

With the full moon in a few days and the reopening of summer camp two days after left Chris with a lot stress but every little bit of preparation helped to alleviate that. "I could be spending the day with my wife and soon to be child..." Chris steps into cage and hears the flip of the switch before an automatic lock fall into place "...But no I'm here in a damp old dungeon helping my werewolf brother prepare to be well a werewolf." Travis says in more of a mood than Jacob got into when it wasn't cooked meat for dinner. "You can complain all you want but it's still better than the alternative. We don't want another repeat of last year." Chris says as he rams himself into the lock, testing for its durability against his enhanced strength.

A small budge but nothing major. So he tried again. Another small budge "It'll hold." He assessed "Now try the electricity." He instructed knowing that it was going to hurt. "Fine." Travis huffed before flipping the other switch. The cage crackled with invisible sparks "This isn't going to be pleasant." Chris said before giving himself a chance to hesitate and grabbing the bars. He cowled in pain as the shock shot up his arm and through his body. Once he let go, he immediately felt the curse begin to heal him. One of the few upsides of it festering in his blood.

"You can undo the lock now." Chris said breathless "What I would give to leave you in there. C'mon out." Travis said before turning both levers up to their original position causing the cell to open and an exhausted Chris to step out with a tired thumbs up "Thanks." Chris said "My pleasure." Came Travis' snide response. He had no idea what was up with his brother but he was being annoying about it to say the least.

With the prep for the full moon done he now finish the final touches for the actual camp. That would include restocking the gift shop and the repairs to the locks Emma kicked in, inpatient that Jacob didn't lockpick them fast enough and various other tasks. The brothers left the cellar of their mom's rundown old house. Chris a little worse for wear but nothing he couldn't shake off. Chris was happy they had been able to fit the crucial tasks in before midday, they might even be able to get lunch at a reasonable time.

Jacob had been busy taking inventory when he heard the sound of a car approaching so he placed the clipboard on a nearby surface and went to greet the person dropping something off. Turned out the drop off was a small boat that looked to be in decent condition at first glance. A hefty price would be wanted the young man guessed whilst he wiped off any grease from his hand with a rag as the car slowly entered. A women stepped out of the car and looked like she belonged anywhere but a dump like this in the middle of the woods "Hey there, I heard you were dropping off something big but I gotta say I was not expecting this." Jacob said while the woman just pulled out her phone "Whatever. Can you take it today?" She asked . Rude. "I could probably but we'd have to discuss how much you want for it." Jacob explained.

The woman seemed annoyed that the conversation was even happening "I don't want anything for this piece of trash, my idiot son bought it when he and his friends were drunk. To think he already has two." She said still not looking up from her phone. Rich asshole family, noted. "Well in that case do you mind telling me what is actually wrong with it so I at least have a reason to keep it here." Jacob requested as his patience began to wear thin with this mother's holier than thou attitude "In that case I guess you could drive it bit further into the centre over there and once you detach it I can deal with the rest. She scoffed as she got back in the car and drove further so she was no longer blocking the gate.

She quickly drove away after leaving the boat behind and now Jacob had to peace and quiet he needed to figure out any issue with it because he doubted any rich kid who came from a mother like that had any respect for anyone or anything. I quick circle around it revealed a damaged rotor, scratched hull and a window two that would probably need replacing. "Easy enough fixes, probably take me a month or two." He said confidently then again just because he was a wonder with cars didn't necessarily mean boats would be just as easy.

He took the notes he jotted down and folded them into his back pocket when he heard a pair of footsteps. "Did you forget something" He asked expecting the lady to be back but he was met with silence.

Ignore / Investigate

He stepped towards where the sound came from and heard a scurry of steps. Was it the racoon that kept stealing his stuff? He ran after it and turned a corner to see someone. It wasn't the mother: it was person with a very pale complexation "HEY!" he shouted as he saw the child from the looks of it run into the treeline. Suddenly Jacob remembered a talk he had with Travis a while back about a "Feral albino child, the one who started everything." And he worried on why Silas was poking his head around just before a full moon. He scrambled for the radio on his belt "Chris! Travis! Anyone, come on!" he said still staring at the trees.

"What is it, kid?" Jedadiah asks and while not conventional it would have to work "I think I just saw the boy, SIlas, he was sniffing around the scrapyard." Jacob explains "Holy shit." Jed says sounding stunned "Let Chris know." Jacob requested "Will do, son." Jed says and Jacob immediately hates the name and would rather go back to being called 'Boy'. But after that the rest of the day goes by with Jacob on edge as he searches for if he has the parts for the repairs or needs if he would have to buy them and it wasn't looking too good.

By the end of the day he was still feeling antsy until he was back in his bed where could relax before the full moon tomorrow. "Jacob, you are practically radiating stress, you need to calm down, champ." Chris said whilst attempting to soothe the unnatural behaviour of Jacob by kissing the younger man's cheek "I don't know why seeing him scared me so much. I think it's the fact I could have done something. I should have done something." Jacob said as he curled up against himself a little tighter "You couldn't have done anything and besides the important thing is that he didn't do anything to you." Chris said "I guess. Can we go to sleep yet?" Jacob said just wanting today to be over with "Sure thing but only if I get to hold you." Chris said knowing that Jacob desired it but wouldn't say anything

The jock wordlessly nodded and sifted around until his back was flush against Chris' stomach and the strong arms were around his waist. "Night." Jacob said before sighing deeply "Sleep well, Jacob." Chris said but felt something more should be said "I love you." He added and felt the younger man relax just that little bit more but it was worth it for any progress.

By morning they had only moved closer somehow and that meant that Jacob senses were filled with Chris that helped make the waking up process more tolerable "Wake up sleepyhead, big night tonight." Chris said and Jacob shook his head fondly.

He should probably wake up but it was always worth a shot to stay asleep a little longer "Five more minutes."
