Chapter Text
The Hero Craft flew through space as the heroes arrived closer and closer to Earth, avoiding asteroid belts and shooting them if they ever got too close for their comfort. Their ship was modified to be larger and able to transport and relocate dangerous creatures. The cockpit of the ship was of the same form and so was the rest of it, until the end. The ship then prolonged into two rectangular pillars that served as generators to create a large energy cube around any creature that they could find. The engines of the ship were put on the sides of it, near the wings of the dropship which were now four in this model. In the cockpit of the ship, Stormer and Landford were piloting it, surprisingly Stormer stood on the co-pilot station, which he would only do when he would give rookies flying tests with a Dropship.
The other members of the team and the Rookies were instead sat in the normal haul of the ship. Furno fidgeted with his thumbs a little as he was put between Gil and Azar, Natalie and Surge were instead on the other side as the blue rookie checked his weapon and Breez just read the files and information that they had been given.
“So..” Furno said and got the attention of the two heroes and Surge, Breez just glanced up at him for a moment before looking back down at the datapad “What’s it like to serve under one of the first heroes ever existed?” He said while turning to both Azar and GIl.
Gil Driver was the first to answer the rookie “Actually, he’s pretty chill. He may give us orders and be our team leaders, but that’s what we are, a team. He’s basically what organic organisms call a ‘father’ or ‘big brother’” Azar Wright then spoke up and made the rookie turn around “We couldn’t ask for a better leader, but that doesn’t mean he can’t go hard on us." The pink heroine said “Honestly we all wished to be on the Alpha 1 Team, but catching creatures that are 20 times our size is pretty awesome too! One time we went inside an Asteroid Worm for a month” She said excitedly.
Furno listened closely to the two and smiled a little at the female hero “Woah, that sounds awesome” He said, he thought to himself how that sentence sounded a little too similar to the one of a fanboy. He then turned to his friends to see their reaction “Doesn’t it, guys?”
Surge was actually listening and gave a small shrug and nod with a smile “Yeah, it does actually sound pretty cool. Don’t know if I would change it for my spot in the Alpha 1 Team though” He said as he was actually impressed with the two. On the other hand, Breez looked up from her datapad for a second, let out a noise that all couldn’t recognize and went back to her reading. It was between a ‘Heh’ and a ‘Mhm’, but for Surge and Furno it translated to a: “Don’t Know. Don’t Care”.
“It does sound exciting” Breez said after a moment of silence while putting the datapad down and looking up at them “But it doesn’t sound like it would be something I would do” she finished as Surge shot her a look “What? Something that YOU wouldn’t do?” He asked not to believe her. Gil gave a confused look “Why would that be strange, Surge?” He asked the rookie. Mark turned around to face the three “Breez has been built with one of the newest technologies in the galaxy” he said at which Furno continued “She can speak to basically any animal registered in the universe like it’s her mother tongue, also she can understand, copy and speak an entire language of a planet just by listening to a few sentences”
“There’s no need to explain it like it’s my application for the team” Breez said while crossing her arms and giving Furno a half-glare. Furno rubbed the back of his head but Azar spoke, looking at Breez “That sounds awesome! You could really help us with every creature and monster, plus we’d really need another girl on the team”.
The last part of the conversation was also picked up by Stormer as he took off his focus from the ship and leaned just a little closer so his auditory receptors could hear Breez’s response.
Breez sighed but gave Azar one of her usual bright smiles “No offense to you, Azar, or any of you honestly, but working in the Alpha 1 Team was my dream since I was able to see what Stormer, Bulk and Stringer could do” She said “They always inspired me more than other heroes, they felt closer than the others, even if they didn’t have my same abilities” she then looked down and fidgeted with her hands a little “Plus there is a downside to my …ability” Gil and Azar leaned a little foward to listen more to the heroine. Natalie gave a sigh and looked up again “Having the ability to talk with animals…it’s awesome really, you can understand them at a deeper lever and…connect to them more, but…” she stopped a moment to think to herself “When I tested with more…intelligent species I didn’t feel like I was talking to an animal. I felt like I was talking to someone on my same level of intelligence. They had ideas, thoughts, beliefs, instincts that almost felt…complicated, too complicated for their minds” she finished and took a sigh of relief “So yes it would be a real honor to be on your team, really, but I also know that most of the species you engage are over the basic intelligence levels of a normal animal and that I…still need time to adapt to that” she finished with honestly.
Azar smiled at the rookie and leaned back in her chair “Oh don’t worry, Nat. I understand, but don’t think we’re not gonna call you when we need some assistance with some big fishes” Stormer in the meantime had heard Natalie’s response and leaned back up in his position, satisfied with the rookie’s determination to the team.
“ATTENTION HEROOOOOOES!” Landford said loudly and happily from the pilot seat as they now saw that they arrived near Earth’s Atmosphere, already going inside of it “We’ve arrived on Earth, home to the human race and uhm..honestly I don’t know what else, but we’re here so buckle your seatbelts! We’ve got a dragon to take back home!”
