Summary
The first time they meet, Aventurine sees the mark before he sees Ratio’s face. Eighteen elegant words scrawled in bold, black ink tracing the curve of Ratio's exposed deltoid like an invitation. Who is Aventurine to not take the obvious bait?
“‘Does the conscious act of reading another's soulmark constitute as a defiance of fate or alignment with it?’” he reads aloud, lips twitching into a half-smile. “How befitting of a renowned scholar such as yourself. It’s very… unique.”
Whatever Aventurine said seems to pass some unspoken test, because Ratio reaches up and removes his headpiece. "A paradox, self-contained and self-contradictory. One worth contemplation, wouldn’t you agree?" Ratio’s eyes, a brilliant shade of rusty gold, catch the light as he inclines his elegant head and extends his hand. "I am Veritas Ratio."
“Aventurine of the Stratagems,” Aventurine answers, flashing a polished, professional smile as their hands clasp in a firm shake. “A pleasure to meet your acquaintance.”

Summary
“… Androids are now matching, maybe even surpassing human intelligence!”
Since Sunday had become the mayor of a nearby city, it became the talk of the town: ‘the rise of androids’. They're cold, inhumane and unpredictable: an emerging threat, as stated by Sunday. When one day Aventurine, a perfectly inconspicuous ‘android’, is making his way to an early morning IPC meeting, he witnesses an unprecedented incident. By coincidence or maybe by destiny, Veritas Ratio, a prominent researcher and professor within the Intelligentsia Guild, beholds the same scene. Jokingly, Aventurine considered the idea that there was simply no one else who could keep up with his… eccentricities. But that fondness only lasted for so long.

Ratio raised an eyebrow at that, "Size isn't proportional with your height nor weight."
Aventurine smirked before groaning, and Ratio felt like he walked right into a trap. "I am not talking about height nor weight, doctor. I am simply saying that it's most of the time proportional to your personality."
Aventurine laughed out loud at Ratio's stare, feeling proud of the doctor's dumbfounded expression. Ratio sighed in defeat, "Well done gambler, ten points. However, if I were you, I would think twice about biting the hand thatfingersfeeds you." -

"VP-0841R," he murmurs, collapsing onto the floor and covering his eyes with his uninjured arm to shield them from the flashing lights. "I copy."
Despite everything, a faint smile tugs at the corners of his lips.
Ratio is here. He's in good hands.

Without fail, Ratio finds him after every project, at every bar and casino. He drags Aventurine back to his hotel or penthouse, plying him with water and food until Aventurine is almost eating three meals a day.
Each night, Aventurine is lulled to sleep by Ratio’s irritated scolding, and every morning, he wakes to a tall glass of water and hangover pills on his nightstand, with breakfast pre-made and waiting in the fridge.
One night, after Ratio leaves, Aventurine coughs. It must be allergies.
