Jim Hopper had never had a son.
He didn’t know remotely how to approach it or what to do. He supposed that he had been their age once, and had experienced the adolescence of boyhood for himself. So, how hard could it really be?
The truth is hard. Especially when you're forced to amend your expectations getting to know a kid who's nothing like how you yourself grew up. Luckily, when you have someone willing to help bridge the gap it makes it a hell of a lot easier to understand.
(Hopper learning about Will through an awkward byler encounter!!! thank god for Joyce and her beautiful way with words!)

Mike called out to him, although his voice was soft and muffled. “Will!! Will!!” He could feel Mike slam his head against his chest, and break down into straight tears. Will's breath hitched in his throat—he had never seen Mike cry like this, ever. Lifting his arm up weakly and sinking his hand into Mike’s hair, Will strokes Mike’s head in an attempt to comfort him. Mike’s head immediately shot up, his puffy puppy dog eyes widening as he looked at Will—even in sadness Mike was the prettiest thing Will had ever seen. He began to push himself to sit up. By the time Will was fully sat, Mike was immediately wrapping his arms around Will’s shoulders, crying into the crook of his neck. And he full on sobbed. “You scared the shit out of me.” Mike whispered to him with a hiccup.

Mike and Will sit and think about all the shit they’ve been through while at lovers lake. Things get a little tense when the upside down tries to take Will back. They cry, they fight, they talk, and a little more. Will’s perspective.
I'm not that good of a writer and I’m even worse at writing summary’s but I had an idea so please bear with me.

“Alright, I stole it.” Mike confessed, turning back to Will. “But she won’t even find out! We’ll be back in like ten minutes. Fifteen at most.”
For the first time in an entire week, Will smiled. The corners of his mouth curled up, letting his bunny teeth peak through his lips. Seeing Mike like this, all cheeky and delinquent, was amusing. It was almost like seeing Mike from the past, and that nostalgia was refreshing.
“Okay, I’ll come. Ten minutes?” He asked, brushing away the bangs stuck to his face in an attempt to look more normal.
“Ten minutes.”

Or; After sensing how tense Will is, Mike offers to take him to Lover’s Lake. Confessions are made, fights ensue.

It started out as a joke. Most things do when you spend most of your time with a gaggle of fourteen-year-olds who thought they were funnier than they actually were.
He doesn't remember exactly what the argument was about. Probably something about his old 'King Steve' persona. The mention of that phase always made Steve more reckless than usual.
"Bet you won't wear a skirt next time we go to the arcade," Dustin had said, all smug, like he got him. Like this was the one thing he wouldn't agree to. Lucas and Mike had immediately joined in, laughing at the thought of it. And Steve–tired, over caffeinated, reckless–had just shrugged.
"Okay," he said, like it was nothing.
And it was nothing. At first.

It’d be pretty shitty to tell Robin now. The terrible timing might make it sound like Chrissy is asking her to stay. She’s not, she would never ask that of Robin—but there’s a part of her that just wants Robin to know. Robin deserves to know she’s loved.

The woman lifted her head; she wore a tan shirt and pants, and a bluish flannel underneath. When she stood up, she walked towards a calendar that was hung up on the wall opposite her. Will stared at the screen, Mike returned his own eyes to it, as well. The camera cut to a shot of her face. Then, the projector failed, jolting and getting caught between slides until it fell to black and shut off. The crowd groaned. There were shouts of ‘what the hell!’ and ‘come on!’ one of the latter coming from Max. Mike himself sighed, catching Will throwing up his hands disbelief identical to Mike's .
