    Summary

Lestat and Nicolas are in the Auvergne, where Nicki spends a blissful night at Lestat’s castle, experiencing a moment of peace he feels he does not deserve.

I hoped to explore: What if one beautiful soul could heal another by binding him, and letting a little blood to quiet his broken mind? But did I achieve it?

This is an excerpt from a chapter of my story, La Chambre Ardente de Mon Cœur (wherein it appears as-is, but in a rather different context), but I thought maybe some people who didn’t desire full on psychological trauma might still enjoy some darkly sensual trauma, with a touch of erotic power play. To set expectations: this is erotic, but not explicit in the anatomical sense! AND I HOPE IT ISN'T JUST INCREDIBLY STUPID. (Me trying to do tags: no sex but… it’s sexy? Is it?! 👀😰💀)

    For Vamptember prompt: Muse.

Content warnings: BDSM elements, mild consensual restraint, light blood play, emotionally intense power exchange, psychological trauma.

Aftercare - This scene resolves emotionally within the chapter.

    Summary

The night after his final argument with Lestat, Nicolas wakes. We follow his first six nights at the Théâtre des Vampires, till Lestat leaves Paris. Eleni de Landen is central. Armand, Lestat, and Roget are here!

Ever wondered what it’s like inside the mind of new vampire Nicolas de Lenfent? Come in! It’s cosy, not at all traumatic!

*Lights a candle. What was that? A little too warm? But the flame is beautiful! Edge closer…*

Haunted by music, memory, and the overwhelming experience of his altered mind and body, Nicolas wrestles with monsters within and without.

What is it to be a vampire? How does one go on when love is lost? Can art battle despair, or triumph over madness? Is it possible to find power amid powerlessness, or endure loss that corrodes memory itself?

Vamptember challenge: Day 15 – Dirge.

    Content Warnings:
Despair, hopelessness, lack of self-worth, dissociation, trauma, abandonment, mania, sensory overload, suicidal ideation, emotional and psychological manipulation, vampiric violence, self-destructive thought, references to vampiric sexual violation.

I was committed to journeying into the abyss with Nicolas. We venture into extreme psychological landscapes.

    Summary

Journey with Nicolas de Lenfent, newly a vampire.
But has he been resurrected… or annihilated?
We remain in his mind, or what remains of it - until Lestat leaves him for the final time at the Théâtre des Vampires.
    Who is Nicolas?
    Is Nicolas…?

The final chapter, the cadenza is a lot longer - we're descending into Dante's Circles of Hell!. What's that? Do you think me too dramatic? 👀

Content warnings: This work includes detailed depictions of dissociation, psychosis-like experiences, and vampiric violation, and body horror. Additional warnings are provided for chapter 3, and the rating of this work is due to graphic self harm, which occurs only in the final chapter.

    Summary

Welcome to Nicolas de Lenfent's Hellscape. Steel yourself… 😭

This story follows Nicolas de Lenfent’s perspective from midway through The Children of Darkness encounter in Les Innocents (with Lestat, Gabrielle and Armand) through to Nicolas’ turning and rebirth as a vampire.

    Content Warnings:
    Extreme psychological disintegration.
    References to past torture.
While this work does not include significant on-page violence beyond vampiric turning, it is thematically very dark.

    Themes include:
    - complete dissolution of the self
    - suicidal ideation framed as relief
    - psychological horror
    - body horror
    - mental instability and hallucinations
    - trauma, PTSD
    - enmeshment
    - loss of identity and reality

This is not a happy bedtime story.

(And if you came here hoping for one... I can only assume you've never met Nicolas! 😈)

Rated M for Madness: psychic horror, emotional chaos, and unraveling minds - just so you know... there is no explicit content of any form. But there's pure, unfiltered psychological intensity! Come hither... I promise I won't lock the cage once you're inside...

    Lestat killed eight wolves!

Only the impossible can do the impossible…

    As Nicolas knows…

This is basically a love letter from Nicolas de Lenfent’s soul.

Will he in any way touch Lestat de Lioncourt’s heart?

Can he reach Lestat right now - Lestat, who has been both inhumanly courageous, and tragically damaged by it?

    Summary

Canonically, Lestat never sees any sign of Nicolas’ existence after he dies. Not even when he visits Heaven and Hell itself... the implication is that Nicolas no longer exists in any form. But I thought... What if he did still exist. What if he was always so very there…

Claudia is dying. She turns to Lestat for comfort. Lestat cannot help her… but perhaps some haunt can...

This story explores love between Nicolas, Lestat, Claudia, Madeleine and Louis - across time, life, death, and after. It is a story of memory, grief, and the quiet endurance of love in all its forms: unspoken, unspeakable, unending.

Ghosts linger. Music echoes. Love transforms.

I hope it honours our beloved Nickistat. And I hope it also honours all of these wonderful characters, and varieties of co-existing love - those spoken and unspoken, fulfilled and unresolved. Some loves end. Others become something stranger, and - I hope, more beautiful.

    Summary

Nicolas de Lenfent's perspective, starting two nights after Lestat's onstage breakdown at Renaud's till the start of The Children of Darkness.

Follows Half of Myself and Intermezzo, but only requires familiarity with The Vampire Lestat.

Reading The Wings at His Throat first is recommended for the full impact of emotional and symbolic motifs.

If you desire to crawl inside (my) Nicolas de Lenfent's head, heart, and soul and witness what he thought, felt and endured in the wake of Lestat's disappearance - Come with me...

    Content warnings (entire work):
Suicidal ideation, self-harm ideation, self-loathing, religious trauma, drug use and addiction (opium, laudanum, alcohol), emotional codependency, trauma, dissociation (including derealisation and depersonalisation), depression, anhedonia, complex PTSD and attachment. Recurring intrusive or corrupted thoughts, memories, visions, and sounds.
This story explores the psychological fallout of abrupt, total abandonment by someone deeply loved. It may resonate with readers who've experienced ghosting, emotional manipulation, gaslighting, or destabilisation after trauma.
    Additional chapter-specific warnings apply.

    Summary

Lestat de Lioncourt and Nicolas de Lenfent are 7 years old. One month ago, the priest took them to the place where witches were once burned alive, and told them the old stories.

Lestat returns to his first Catechism Class since then, worried the other boys will mock him for crying.

A quiet boy's unexpected kindness sparks something profound in Lestat's heart. But he barely recognises Nicolas. Nicolas, though, has been waiting for Lestat ever since that day, his young heart full of innocent devotion and understanding.

Lestat wants to be good. Nicolas just wants him to be seen.

But the real lesson is not from the priest, but from these boys, whose uncorrupted souls sense something in each other…

The story is told in three parts: Lestat - Nicolas - Lestat.

And yes, I did want 7-year-old Lestat to introduce himself like he’s James Bond. (He’s BETTER, obviously!)

This is standalone work, but themes and symbolism introduced here are important in "La Chambre Ardente de Mon Cœur."

Content Warnings: Implied childhood trauma, including childhood anxiety/distress, religious trauma/guilt, descriptions of historical witch executions/burning.

    Summary

Lestat's fingers brush through his hair, feather-light, almost a breeze. "I could see the ecstasy in the audience's eyes long before the curtain fell."

"You could see their fear, maybe." Nicki tightens the string viciously, steel dragging roughly over his fingers. He hastily sets his violin aside before he can give into the temptation to push down, stain it with yet more of his blood.

    Summary

This is a reworking of Chapter 12 of The Legacy of Magnus from Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat - Lestat’s post-vampire-turning Renaud’s breakdown, from Nicolas de Lenfent’s perspective. It also follows on directly from my last bit of writing, Half of My Self.

I wanted to do this as just a short single piece, not least as it is merely an adaptation of Anne Rice’s existing chapter! It’s mainly just a different point of view. Were I to continue beyond this it would obviously move more into the realm of my own thought. When Nicolas wakes after this, he’s going to have to begin to think about what he just witnessed and experienced. But on the night itself, he cannot think. How could he think any rational thought amid the chaotic trauma of this experience?

Is it OK to create fiction like this, so closely connected to the text it is inspired from? Anyway, I have written it now, and that’s why I have kept it just as this night. I do continue just slightly beyond the last moment we see Nicolas, as I couldn’t just leave him hovering in Renaud’s doorway, where Lestat last sees him, where Lestat last left him…

Content note: there isn't graphic violence really. But a gun is fired and there's a lot of blood.
