Summary
“Are you daddy’s friend’s magic friend?” She asked, cutely furrowing her brow.
“If I understood that correctly, I am,” Buck said with a chuckle. “I’m a witch. And I take it you’re the one that did magic for the first time today?”
“Yes,” she said, eyes wide as if the surprise had not worn off.
Oh. She hadn’t even known it was a possibility. That made things curious.
“Congratulations,” Buck said. “It’s really cool, right?”
She gave a quick nod and then frowned. “Wait, aren’t all witches supposed to be girls? Wouldn’t you be a wizard or a warlock?”

Summary
"Hey, Chimney," an unfamiliar voice says as Howie is showing Leah the controls. "Who's your guest?"
They turn to see Hen and two other people that Tommy doesn't recognize, a guy with dark hair and…
Tommy blinks because there's another guy, tall, with curly dark-blonde hair, bright blue eyes and a red-ish birthmark over his eye that Tommy somehow finds adorable. He might just be the most gorgeous man Tommy's ever seen.
"Hey, guys," Howie says and it's then that it occurs to Tommy what Howie was just called.
"Wait, 'Chimney?'"
Howie laughs. "A nickname that happened after you left."
"Oh," Tommy says. "Where did it come from?"
Adorable blue-eyed guy grins. "I've known the guy for seven years and he still won't tell us."
Tommy laughs. "Okay then. Anyway, I'm Tommy Kinard and this is my daughter, Leah. We're here for a tour."
Or: Tommy and his daughter meet Buck on a tour of the 118. This leads to a very unconventional first date.

"We don't have to have this conversation right now. I– I don't want us to. We can talk in the morning after you get some rest.”
“You don't have to be this nice to me, Evan. I didn’t– I didn’t even tell you about your own daughter.” Tommy whispers and pushes himself up from his chair as well, walking around the table so he stands next to his ex-boyfriend with some distance still between them. “You don't owe me anything.”
Evan abandons his task of cleaning the table and turns to Tommy with a look on his face that's as warm and sad as his smile. “Tommy, I owe you more than you'll ever know.”
(or: almost a year after running into each other at the bar, at four in the morning Buck shows up unannounced at Tommy's house and discovers that he has three months old daughter that he knew nothing about.)

Summary
Evan Buckley left LA after Bobby's death, and no one really knows where he went.
Tommy Kinard is spending his 48th birthday stuck in Newark Airport after a flight delay, where he meets a five-year-old princess who reminds him so much of someone he used to know.
These two facts may or may not be related.
---“I like your pins.” The girl eventually said. “I’m Mia.” She smiled a crooked smile that looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn’t really place it at all. “And I’m a princess.” She proclaimed.
“A princess, huh?” Tommy replied, and Mia nodded solemnly.
“Yup. I’m named after a princess, so I’m a princess too! My mommy and daddy named me after their favorite one, Princess Mia of Ge, uh, Gev...Gevonia!” She grinned triumphantly, and Tommy let out a small chuckle, knowing exactly which movie she meant. He’d only watched it a hundred times after all.
“You mean Genovia?” He smiled as Mia climbed up onto the seat beside him. He should probably be scanning the room for her parents, but he could barely take his eyes off her. There was something about the way she moved that reminded him of someone he once knew, although at that moment in time, he couldn’t tell you who it was.

Summary
“I mean, whenever I think about the two of them, I always come to the conclusion that there was some sort of invisible string between them. Even without your help, they would still meet each other at some point.”
Ravi raises his hand like he’s in the classroom. “Isn’t it a red string of fate?”
“A red string of fate, invisible string.” Hen shrugs. “The point is that Buck and Tommy would still find each other with or without Chimney’s help. They were bound to.”
“Invisible string.” Chimney deadpans, probably more annoyed at the fact that his best friend didn’t immediately take his side than her explanation. “You think if I hadn’t intervened, they would still meet each other because of an invisible string?”
(or: while Chimney and Eddie are arguing about who's going to be Buck's best man, Hen tries solving the problem by bringing up the invisible string theory.)

Summary
“Nothing,” his husband replied with a shrug, only to wilt slightly when Tommy raised a dubious eyebrow at him in response. Evan sighed, shoulders drooping a bit. “Are we– Are we never having kids? Has that ship sailed?”
“I’m pretty sure it’s probably around Chile by now,” Tommy deadpanned in response, expecting to earn a laugh from his husband. Instead, Evan simply sighed a bit, causing Tommy to frown in concern at him. “Or not?”
“I just…I don’t know, I guess I thought it would happen one day,” Evan confessed, biting his lip slightly as he added a bit more salt to the sauce, using it as a distraction to keep from looking over at Tommy. "You, me, a kid or two."
Tommy couldn’t help but let out a small snort of laughter, tilting his head in amusement at Evan.
“I hate to break it to you, but it was never going to just happen,” Tommy teased him, to which Evan smirked sheepishly.
