Hannibal stopped scrubbing the dishes, his hands hidden beneath the soapy water, and Will was oblivious to the knife hidden beneath the surface.
He misinterpreted Hannibal’s silence for guilt and he sighed, leaning against the man’s arm to convey that he wasn’t mad at him. Will said, “I just don’t want Jack to get any wrong ideas, okay? I would hate for you to go to jail because of a stupid pun.”
“Just to clarify, you’re talking about me being…”
“The Chesapeake Ripper.”
“Ah…”

"...Bedelia," Will begins, drawling. His voice is breathy, staring at Hannibal, expectant. "How did you fuck her?"
Hannibal almost acts innocent, almost tips his chin in curiosity, as if asking, "Come again?" But he knows Will is not that stupid; he flicks his gaze to the fire. Flames dance, orange and yellow swirling in a waltz. "Like how any other man would, I suppose," he says blankly.
The corner of his mouth twitches in a near-smile when Will rolls his eyes. He muses, "I never thought I would see your jealousy."
"I'm not jealous," Will spits out, "I'm frustrated."
Or;--
I finally put my big boy pants on and wrote gay sex. Enjoy.

Nothing can touch him here. The quiet returns, his limbs lax. Time passes as it will, here, neither slow nor fast. There’s nothing but the rush of the water and the sun above, until he spots something dark in the distance.
I care about your life, the dark thing whispers, words echoing right beside his ear. Will’s eyes shoot open with a start.
(After getting released from the BSHCI, Will withdraws from Jack, the FBI, and most of all, from Hannibal. The bouquet sitting on his kitchen table serves as a reminder that such a thing may not be so easy.)
