Summary
When he was younger, Jaskier imagined life to be a fairytale.
Grand adventures, beasts to be slain, and knights in shining armor.
“Yeeugh,” the man groaned out from the tavern floor where he’d stumbled before him, covered in mud and smelling of horse dung.
Real life never was quite like he imagined it would be.
Jaskier's days as a single man are numbered. With family obligations knocking at the door and no escape in sight, he knows he will soon be forced to marry.
Things are further complicated when he meets a beautiful, brown-haired witcher by chance in a tavern one night.

The idea was absolutely ridiculous. Jaskier had truly outdone himself this time, really.
It had all started with Valdo fucking Marx, because of course it had. The idiot, for all that Jaskier found him lacking, could throw a decent party, and his Yule parties were all the rage. They’d been at a bar together with Essi, Shani, and Priss one evening. During a lull when the ladies had excused themselves to get refills, Valdo had turned to him with a sly smirk on his smarmy face.
“Julian, dear, you are coming to my party this year, right?”
Jaskier needs a date, fast. Problem is, dating is harder than it used to be. Luckily, Eskel's willing to help him out.
Or: Two idiots in love think it's a great idea to pretend to date each other. No one is fooled.

Summary
“Gods, I can’t get enough of you.”
The sunshine was a dappled thing, morning light filtering through the curtains and kissing the tips of Lambert’s copper curls. Jaskier twisted, smiling, towards his lover.
“Lamb,” he greeted, “What are you-”
He was hushed with a gentle stroke of scarred fingers over his mouth. They left a burning, featherlight trail over his jaw, down the column of his throat, where they stopped and settled, grasping. Holding, gentle but present, thumb pressing in just so over where his pulse throbbed. Jaskier inhaled once, sharp through his nose.
It's early in the morning and Lambert wants to fuck. So much for coffee.

Summary
Geralt was not having a very good time.
This godsforsaken trip had started with Vesemir giving him a tip. Apparently, there were rumors a leviathan had been spotted in the area (“I have it on very good authority, honestly, wolf,”) and Vesemir’s very-good-authority had traced the beast to the coastal city of Novigrad. Geralt wasn’t particularly thrilled to be sent out to do the dirty work that was bestiary expansion, but was reminded quite smugly of the favor he’d owed the old man (“Don’t think I’ve forgotten that time with the selkimore guts and Ciri’s prom dress, Geralt, I swear to god I’ll tell her that it wasn’t Lambert’s doing,”), and so here he was.
Geralt just wants to do his job and go home. Jaskier has other plans.Or: The monster-hunting AU no one asked for.

“It’s what you haven’t done, son,” Alfred’s voice was brusque and short, but not unkind. Jaskier braced himself. “It’s time you settled down and found a wife.”
The room went silent. Every eye in the room bounced between the two men, no one daring to speak. Every eye except one- Geralt, who sedately finished chewing his breakfast, seeming to completely ignore the pleading glances Jaskier was shooting him. After a long pause, the witcher looked up and glanced around the table, meeting Jaskier’s eye briefly, before stating, calmly, “Can’t. He’s already married.”
“Right, yes, of course,” Jaskier nodded his agreement before actually hearing Geralt’s words. “I’m- wait, uh-"

The mage smiles at that, with teeth this time. “You should go to him.”
Geralt snorts. “Why the fuck’d I do that?”
“You miss him, of course.”
Geralt huffs out a laugh. “I don’t miss anything.” It sounds bitter, even with the deep swallows of White Gull he’s taken, even with the months that have passed since he last saw Jaskier.
“Think you might,” The mage says, all haughty and knowing. “I want to give you a gift,” he continues, calm and collected, face annoyingly attractive, the silver in his hair and beard catching in the low tavern light.
“I don’t want anything from you,” Geralt protests, knowing a gift from a mage is never a real gift. A nuisance at its most innocent, a death sentence at its worst.
“Bit late for that, witcher,” The mage says.

In Jaskier’s defense, he would argue that he had very good reasons for not realizing he was haunted. Between gigs and side jobs, his days are far from standard working hours, the house is old so who would be alarmed by a few odd noises now and then, and after a lifetime of ADHD, who is he to say that he didn’t leave every single cabinet door open and rearrange his mugs in the cupboard without realizing it?
“The fucking writing in the mirror wasn’t a clue?” Priscilla asks with a dubious eyebrow raised.
(Jaskier has a poltergeist) (This is a problem until it gets his rent reduced) (Then the only problem is stopping the witcher his landlord hired from wrecking the good thing he's got going on)
